Description

Be inspired by the amazing life of Stan Lee, the comic book genius who created Spider-Man, The Hulk, and Iron Man!

Little Stan grew up in New York City. As a child, he loved reading books, poems and newspaper strips. And when he didn't have his head in a book, he was writing stories of his own.

After he graduated, Stan got his big break in the form of a job as an assistant at a small comic book publisher called Timely Comics. He started by helping the editors with their work, but before long, he was helping to write the comics. He contributed to a Captain America story but soon started to create his very own characters.

From the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man to The Hulk, Stan's superheroes were innovative and exciting. Even though they were super, they felt human, flaws and all. In the years that followed, he built a solid career at Timely Comics. With Stan’s help, Timely Comics grew to become Marvel, the multi-million-dollar corporation behind some of the most successful Hollywood films, including The Avengers, Black Panther and Ant-Man.

Stan created a whole universe of connecting characters and stories which leapt off the page and into the hearts of millions of fans around the world!

Biographies are such a fantastic way for kids to learn history and this series is probably my favorite. They're appropriate for very young children and they introduce kids to extraordinary individuals.
Of course, Stan Lee was a trailblazer and he left a huge impact on modern culture. The most amazing part of his life is that he was ordinary and relatable in so many ways. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

This was a great age appropriate way for children to learn about Stan Lee. I have reviewed advance copies of quite a few Little People Big Dreams books and would recommend them all for children to learn about public figures. They incorporate great messages like being creative and working hard.

I think the illustrations along with the story of his life help grab kids attentions and help introduce them to the world of comic books.

Maria brings the creator of Spiderman to life. Inspiring and a true portrayal of passion , the story of Stan Lee is a must read for any child, whether they are into comic books or not. Maria really captured the dedication and perseverance of Lee in the latest addition to the Little People Big Dreams books.

A very interesting and easy to follow story of the man behind the popular Marvel characters. This graphic novel introduces Stan Lee and how he persevered in following his passion and becoming a successful comic creator. The illustrations fit the narrative perfectly. This is a great way to introduce children to the non fiction genre.

This is a fun children's book discussing the story of the comic book creator, Stan Lee. The illustrations are very cute and eye-catching. I think children will absolutely enjoy this book and learn quite a bit about his life. I was not very familiar with his story and so learned a lot. This is part of a series of biographies, Little People, Big Dreams written by this author that are well researched and engaging. I look forward to new additions to the series and so far I haven't been disappointed by any of these.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

A fun illustrated look at the life of the famous comics creator, Stan Lee.
My son is 8 and while this book was a little young for him, he enjoyed this glimpse into the life of a man who he looks up to. My kid already makes his own comics and aspires to have his work on the big screen one day. Reading this book helped him to see that Stan Lee has done this so he certainly can to if he wants.
I loved the glimpses into Stan Lee's life from childhood to military and onward. Seeing in small ways how he was influenced to create the well known and loved characters like Spider-man and Hulk was inspiring and fun.

🦹 I really love these Little People, Big Dreams books!

🦸 Today’s book features Stan Lee, the visionary creator of many of the beloved superheroes that children (and adults) love today!

🦹‍♀️ This biography of Stan’s life will be interesting to children, particularly those who love the Marvel superheroes. The pages are covered with colorful and fun illustrations, supported by age-appropriate information about Stan’s life, ambitions, and accomplishments. Plus, there are photographs and a timeline of Lee’s life in the back of the book.

🦸🏻‍♀️ I personally loved how the book emphasized that Lee created human superheroes with flaws and worries and problems just like the rest of us, and that you don’t always need superpowers to be a superhero.

Thank you @Netgalley @QuartoKids and @FLCbooks for an eArc of this book, which I have read and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I love the cover of this upcoming entry in the excellent Little People, Big Dreams series. The illustrations and story inside were also appealing.

I may be in the minority but I did not know who Stan Lee was before reading this title. (a reminder that children’s books can teach adults as well). Now, I can be impressed by what he did.

Readers learn how Stan went from being a kid with his nose always in a book to someone who wrote and created comics. The characters that Stan dreamed up have been very popular, in part because, although they are super heroes, they are also human. That humanity comes across as does Stan’s desire to give something back.

Here is a title to add to a home library that is hopefully filled with many titles by this author.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.

This is a fab picture book all about the life of the Comic Book writer Stan Lee. He always dreamt about writing a book, and enter a newspaper competition and worked in publishing before he ever had anything published himself. He got a chance to write some text for a Captain America story, and kept going even writing and sending stories to his publisher when he was a soldier in WW2. He came up with the Fantastic Four when working with Jack Kirby after the war and then Spiderman with Steve Ditko and of course many other superheroes that we all know and love.

This series never fails to disappoint! I honestly don't think there has been a miss in the whole run. My 7-year-old loves them, and this one especially. As a big comics/superhero fan, he really enjoyed the relatability of Stan Lee in his early life and how he was just a normal kid who loved reading and ended up redefining comics as we know them.

For a children's comic, this was super cute and wholesome. I, as an adult, flew through the book in about 10 minutes but had a smile on my face throughout. I loved the artwork!!

I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

I really love this series of biographies, and this was no different! I have also always looked up to and been interested in Stan Lee, as a more casual and closeted comic book fan / superhero fan! It all started with Spider Man as a kid, the movies, some animated tv-shows and the ps2 game etc! Always so cool to learn about someone who has made such a difference and shaped the industry in such a big way!

Really recommend it!

A great look at a creator who's responsible for some of the best-known characters ever! The glimpses of his home life, and how his wife inspired his approach to creating superheroes, was particularly interesting.

Another great addition to the series. Covers important parts of Stan Lee's life in way that children will really relate to, with a positive message. You'd don't have to be a comic fan to appreciate it. Beautiful illustrations as you would expect with this wonderful series. Will be recommending

What I love about the Little Peiple, Bug Dreams series is that is not only educational for kids, but as the adult reader too. Stan Lee’s installment taught me that 1) his name is Stanley and Stan Lee is his own name 2) he also loved reading so much that if a book wasn’t around he would start reading labels on whatever was near (just like me) and 3) that he worked hard to achieve his long lasting dream and never stopped being involved in his passions.

These lessons are incredibly important for little mind, but equally important reminders for us adults as we navigate the hardships and mundane of life. Stan wanted his superheroes to capture what it’s like to be a real human while also conquering the unthinkable, and as far fetched as that can seem, we all are doing this in a daily basis, making us the true superheroes of our own lives.

Stan saw that and helped teach that lesson and I love how beautifully this simple and stunningly illustrated biography passes his mission along. Another wonderful addition to one our family’s favorite series!

The art is super cute and liked the colors. The story is easy for children to understand. It doesn't discuss Lee's DC work but you can't include everything in a book like this I really liked that they included the co-creators of character Lee helped create.

I am a big fan of the “Little people, BIG DREAMS” series, and have read a good share of them. They are always very well written and informative, but not overwhelmingly so.
I am also a fan of Stan Lee and enjoyed finding out more about him. A great book for both young and old!

"Stan Lee" is a delightful and inspiring biography for not only young readers but for anyone who has a dream. This beautifully illustrated book captures the essence of Stan Lee's life and his contributions to the world of comics with his iconic characters. The narrative is simple yet powerful, highlighting Lee's creativity, passion, and never give up attitude. It is an excellent introduction to Lee's life and legacy. The illustrations by Ana Albero are so vibrant, cute and are just right for a young audience.

I think Stan Lee is an interesting addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series of biographies for kids. I bet there are a lot of kids who don't necessarily know who he is - but the definitely would recognize the characters and world that he created. This is a great way to introduce those kids to the creator of their favorite superheroes and to demonstrate the importance of creativity and perseverance toward a particular goal. This story was a well crafted narrative that highlighted important lessons from Stan Lee's journey throughout his life and career.

The illustrations are unique and colorful. They serve to enhance the story and support what is written on each page. I really enjoyed this story and it definitely makes a good addition to the collection. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC to read and review!

I will admit I didn’t know how integral Sten Lee was to so many Marvel Comics + films. The illustrations in this story were particularly joyful. The illustration style paid attention to detail for each part of the story which as a creative myself I thoroughly enjoyed. I just know this book is going to be well received when it’s published!

I adore the fun illustrations and young reader-focused bios of famous people in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series, including this one on Stan Lee, creator of the Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and other beloved super heroes. Also includes a timeline of Lee's life and historical photos that bring readers a full sense of this creative genius. Recommended!

This was a supercute easy read!

Both me and my 8 year old loved the book, and our only wish was that it would be longer since we would want more of this book! The drawings are cute, original and really great for this story. The story is short and wellplanned enough to work at such a few pages. As big Stan Lee fans we would love to have this book with a hundred pages more to learn more abour Stan Lee and his life!

This graphic novel is perfect for kids that are starting to get to know the Marvel and DC Universe, but also perfect for adults that only wants to read and learn more about Stan Lee.

Thank you for a good read!

Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing group for the digital ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I just discovered the Little People, Big Dreams book series and find them a great way to introduce non-fiction to the younger set. I wish this series had been around when my kids were little, as well-written early reader books about real people are hard to come by.

The story of Stan Lee reads like a comic book, so this illustrated early reader biography hits the right notes. I like that this book gets to the major points in Lee's very extraordinary life and impact on not only comic books, but popular culture as a whole, and that a more in-depth biographical timeline is included at the end.

Stan Lee
Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is one of the books in the Little People, Big Dreams series which I've seen absolutely everywhere, but only just started working my way through! (I know ....where have I been!?)

I'm loving reading these books as picking people I only know a little or nothing about means I learn new things....
However, I could not resist this particular one - I absolutely adore Stan Lee!

I can't say that I knew too much about him - but I (and the family) are obsessed with all things Marvel and it was brilliant to read this one out loud to my youngest.

We loved that Stan started out as an inkwell filler in his first job - just look how far he came!

My son was a little sad that his name isn't Stan Lee really - but I feel that it's so close to his real name that it was ok.

Apart from loving Marvel and Stan, I also have a passion for reading, so it was great to see how he grew up constantly with his nose in a book! And funny that he would read the food labels if he had no book around - I'm sure many of us can relate to this!

This was a super quick read - full of information - but told in a way that was interesting and fun.
The illustrations were great too, with lots of detail to look at and prompt discussion with younger readers.

This series is actually amazing and I really must add more to my tbr - there are over 100 books in the series already and, like this one, many more still being added.

Great for school libraries, classroom learning, home education shelves and for any of us adults who just love reading!

💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

This is my first look into the Little People, Big Dreams series and I am honestly excited to continue to check out more of these books. This one in particular did not disappoint. I grew up reading comics by Stan Lee and enjoy so many of them as well as his movies. It’s always fun seeing him make quick appearances in his movies and I loved that this children’s book included that little tidbit. The illustrations were well done and there were even a few details of his life that were new to me thanks to this book. It was a wonderful and well thought out children’s story book of how Stan Lee began and journeyed through his lifelong adventure and career in comics. A great read for kids and adults that are fans of comics and the late and great Stan Lee. He contributed so much to the comic book world.

Thanks so much Quarto Publishing- Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, mMaria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, and NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.

Oh, how I adore this series!

I have to say I am not a huge comic fan, so I didn't know who Stan Lee was .Oops!!

It was great to know about him. How the empire started and the way he achieved his dream.

I hope he is aware of the huge change he has made to the world with his art!

Also, I LOVED the artwork!! I usually enjoy them all but this one was especially cute!

I LOVE these Little People Big Dreams books. They are such a great way to introduce children to inspiring people. As someone who loves the work of Stan Lee, this book was a super approachable way to learn how he became the comic book genius that he is. I think any adult who loves Stan Lee needs this book to read to their children to begin to introduce them to the world that Stan Lee created. It also is super cool to see how Stan got his start, and it all came from a love of reading as a child.

I really enjoyed this cute book on Stan Lee and learned quite a bit about him.
Written for kids and to be inspirational, this book does an amazing job covering Stan Lee's childhood and what got him in to comics.
Illustrations are great and fun to look at.
Would definitely recommend.

I work in the comic book industry & I learned more about Stan Lee in this children’s book than I have through work. It reminds kids that if you continue to do what you love to do, you’ll find success in your dreams.

I loved the art and how simple and whimsical it is to draw kids in. The story makes me feel nostalgic, and sad, but it's a fun and simple way for kids to learn about Stan. He leaves behind a strong legacy. The one page where he said he read anything he could get his hands on, even the back of a ketchup bottle, stands out to me. What a sweet way to remember a great person.
