NetGalley Reaches a New Milestone

NetGalley Reaches a New Milestone with 27,000 Members; New Team Members Added

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Newburyport, MA—May 19, 2011---NetGalley, a website where professional readers can access secure digital galleys, today announced 27,000+ members registered on the site, more than 4 times more than last year at this time. Nearly 100 publishers are using the service to allow reviewers, bloggers, media, librarians, booksellers and educators the opportunity to read galleys digitally.

NetGalley also announced the addition of two team members: Aaron Miller joins as Senior Engineer, and Kristina Radke joins in the newly-created position of Community Concierge. Aaron Miller is a writer and entrepreneur with twelve years of experience working with the Web as a publishing medium. He has been writer, designer, developer and publisher at various stages of his career. He is the co-founder of the social reading destination BookGlutton.com, as well as co-founder of ReadSocial, a social reading API. Kristina comes to NetGalley from the marketing department of HarperTeen, where she was heavily involved in Web marketing and social media marketing for teen and middle grade titles.

“We wanted to time this announcement to highlight 25,000 members right at BookExpo America, but our growth outpaced that target,” commented Fran Toolan, Chief Igniter of Firebrand Technologies, NetGalley’s parent company. “With new members streaming in, great new content in the catalog, and two ‘new-media’ skill sets added to an already strong team, we are well-positioned to grow and enhance the NetGalley service.”

NetGalley will be bringing the online social experience to life at Booth 3718 this year at BEA-- publishers/members/fans can stop by and “like” NetGalley by affixing “I love NG” stickers to the booth wall. People who stop by to help bring the Facebook Wall to life will also have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for a digital reading device donated courtesy of Barnes & Noble and Kobo. There will also be a winner chosen from new followers/fans of NetGalley’s Facebook page from the week of the show.

Professional readers can join NetGalley for free at www.netgalley.com. Publishers can approve requests or invite readers to view their content securely on a variety of digital devices, including Android phones/tablets, iPad/iPhone, Kindle, Kobo eReader, Nook/NookColor, and computers.
