Moving Target is the third book in the Elite Guardians series about a group of no-nonsense women who have established a bodyguard service. This book does stand alone, but it is helpful to have read the other books because there are references that make more sense and you'll have a better feel for the secondary characters.
All of Lynette Eason's books are full of riveting suspense and surprising twists. It is easy to forget where you are when you read them! Moving Target starts off with a bang and never slows down. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters more (they are referred to in previous books in the series), and I like the way they worked together to solve the crime.
I had a bit of trouble finding this book to be as realistic as the others in the series. I found myself questioning some of the timelines and actually went back a couple of times to check things out, which is distracting. The serial killers methodology was just a bit too contrived for me.
That said, I will still read every Lynette Eason book I can get my hands on -- I love her fast paced style and the way she artfully tells a tale.
Every now and then I find myself in the mood for an exciting, thrilling mystery. I loved Without Warning by Lynette Eason, so when I had the opportunity to read Moving Target, I was beyond excited. I wasn’t sure how anything could top what happened to the characters in Without Warning as I remember it being very suspenseful. Then I started reading Moving Target. Yep, it gets better!
This book is jam packed with action, mystery, excitement, and had me on my toes the entire time. I kept commenting to my husband I was reading as if it were real. In fact, I breathed a sigh of relief when I got to the end. Not because it was over, but because I had made it to the end! I could not turn the pages fast enough to see how Quinn and Maddy would deal with this serial killer that seemed to be after them. I almost felt like I was reading an episode of Criminal Minds, at least that’s how it played out in my mind. By the way – I totally got the killer wrong. Hats off to the author in tricking me about that!
Aside from the thrilling chase of Maddy and Quinn from The Chosen One, there were some great character developments that I was looking for from things that happened in the previous book. Quinn and Maddy obviously have a lot of baggage, but a lot of it wasn’t explained in detail before. Looking back however, knowing what I know now, some things from the prior book make sense. Makes me want to reread it to make sure! I love how Ms. Eason chose this plot line to make both characters deal with their underlying issues. It added depth to the story, and a break from all the nail biting!
I highly recommend this to all those thrill seekers, mystery lovers, and readers everywhere. But, to get the most out of the characters and their development, you’ll want to start with the other books first. You’ll appreciate it more if you do! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to leave a complimentary review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Read! Read! Read!
Fast paced, intriguing, suspenseful. Definitely one to keep you turning pages. One of my favorites in the series thus far, for sure.
If you go through my "Read" list, you'd probably see that I've read most of Lynettes's books. That being said, its no secret that I am a fan of her tales of romance and suspense! She has a style about her writing and often times, you would find yourself craving a novel by her.
Moving Target ticks all the check boxes of a fast-paced, energetic and a compelling read! The story follows Quinn, who is a Detective and Maddy, an ex-FBI agent tuned bodyguard. I was glad to have finally read their story, given that the past two novels in the series highlighted their relationship and of course, the growing tension.
The character development was great. It picks up from the previous novels smoothly. Maddy has a wit about her and what a strong lead she played. Detective Quinn, ahhh. This hunky hero was the perfect balance of hands on yet let Maddy have her space. Their relationship and trust was a beautiful thing to read- especially when a creepy, sinister serial killer is on their trail. I admired that he didn't suffocate Maddy's freedom or choke her free-will, rather he treated her as an equal and trusted her judgement.
It was also great to have a glimpse of the team! And of course, Haley's book is much awaited!
In terms of story-line, well this was unique. A bold, standout mix of Hunger games and survivor! There's a lot of breath-holding and page flipping to be had with this one! You honestly will not put this one down, until you've reached the end. But even then, you'd want more!
Highly recommended. Best combination of characters, suspense and romance.

Moving Target by Lynette Eason is book three in the Elite Guardians series. I read where Eason described the book as a cross between the Hunger Games and Survivor and I would agree with that description wholeheartedly. The tension in the beginning is full throttle.
In case you haven’t been reading the series (which I would highly recommend), Quinn is a Detective and Maddy is a former FBI agent who is now a body guard. Quinn is working a serial killer case that he and Maddy end up being the focal point of. The Chosen One was one of the creepiest villains with his need to play games with his victims. The scenes on the island where they were kidnapped were described so well that you were holding your breath.
I reveled in the scenes where the whole group was sitting around the table brainstorming different solutions and what different clues might mean. You feel like you are solving the case with them. I don’t want to spoil anything so I will not share who I thought might be the villain.
In addition to the case they are trying to solve, Quinn and Maddy are dealing with difficult family issues and guilt from their past. I enjoyed how Eason revealed their past situations which had unanticipated outcomes. I felt the situation between Quinn and his dad was realistic. So many times there are misunderstandings that cause such strife.
My one warning…. The excerpt for Chasing Secrets leaves you craving the rest of Haley’s story.
Eason is one of my favorite writers and Moving Target definitely keeps her on that list with the perfect balance of romance and breath taking suspense. It is a well plotted novel that I enjoyed from start to finish.
Sexual content: kissing
Violence: several dead bodies, kidnapping, game of life and death on the island
Moving Target is the third installment from the Elite Guardians series. I thought it was pretty good.

What an awesome book. I love Lynette Eason's books and Moving Target was no exception. The book has a terrific plot and the characters are believable. I enjoyed revisiting characters from previous books in the series.. I was immediately pulled into the suspenseful book and could not put it down. I recommend this book to those who enjoy a good suspense/romance.
Moving Target is the exciting third romantic suspense book in the Elite Guardians series written by author Lynette Eason. Thanks to NetGalley and Revell publishing for the advance copy. I enjoyed it a great deal.
It's the most stubborn characters that are the most fun to watch fall in love. :) Both Maddy and Quinn possess stubbornness in spades, so I loved their relationship. Drama, suspense, faith, wit, romance, dynamic characters - Lynette Eason is always good for a solid inspirational suspense story!
This is a story you'll want to read with the lights on, as the bad guy has more than a little misplaced vengeance in mind. Eason focuses more on Quinn and Maddy's romance and adventures, though. Somehow, you'll want to swoon, laugh, and hide your eyes all at once with Moving Target!
A game of cat and mouse leaves Maddy McKay and Quinn Holcombe running for their lives while trying to protect their loved ones.
Maddy Mckay is a member of the Elite Guardians, a group that provides protection and helps solve hard cases when needed. She has been working with Quinn Holcombe for a while now and they both can feel their attraction to each other growing. When neither of them show up for a surprise birthday party for Quinn, their friends fear something has happened to them. It isn’t like them to disappear without telling anyone and the more the friends search, the more it becomes clear that Quinn and Maddy didn’t just run away to be together. As their friends are searching, Maddy wakes up in a strange cement room with no memory of how she got there. She finds she isn’t alone. Quinn is with her and they are being hunted by a crazed madman out for revenge. Maddy and Quinn are in his game whether or not they want to be and the rules are being made up as they go. If they don’t find a way to win the game, they won’t make it out alive.
The Elite Guardians is quickly becoming one of my favorite series with this installment being right at the top. The game of cat and mouse had the tension so tight I could hardly turn the pages fast enough. However, I wish the hunt on the island at the beginning would have gone on a little longer. I think there really could have been more developed there to make the story even better. I know this is partly a romance story too, but if that aspect had been toned down just a little bit and focused more on the suspense with Quinn and Maddy being chased, it would have blown the story away. The end didn’t really surprise me too much, I could pretty much see every twist and turn coming in the last 50-100 pages. I’m not sure what the next book in the series is going to focus on but it is going to be hard to top this one. An excellent read that I will recommend to readers that enjoy a fast paced suspense story with a little romance sprinkled throughout.

This is the third in a series but reads well on its own. The plot centers on Maddy, another of the Elite Guardians, and Quinn, a police detective. The two are kidnapped by a serial killer. Maddy and Quinn are transported to a remote island and must elude the hunter to stay alive.
We learn a great deal about Maddy and Quinn and the past mistakes and hurts they must overcome. Eason does a good job of interspersing personal revelation with suspense so the plot does not slow down. The plot has some twists to it. There are some characters who had changed their names from a previous investigation involving Quinn and I found that a bit confusing.
One of my requirements for an excellent suspense novel is that the main characters do nothing dumb to get themselves into a suspenseful situation. Unfortunately, Maddy does do something dumb that puts her in harms way, more than once.
Other than that defect, this is a very good suspense novel. There is a relatively strong Christian message, a good bit of suspense, some character transformation, and a bit of romance.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
This book caught me off guard. I have this habit of not really reading the book synopsis for books from authors that I really enjoy. I know how the previous books of this series had went, and I honestly expected the story to run along the same lines. This one was so very different in all the right ways.
From early on in the story, I was completely caught up in the suspense of this story… I honestly struggled to put this one down. I was gripped from page one. And as I tried to solve the mystery with the characters, and even tried to keep a step ahead of them, I just couldn’t.
When I started reading this book, I had a sense of Deja vu. In middle school, I read a short story called “The Most Dangerous Game”. I haven’t thought about this story in years, but yet this book brought it to mind. And I loved that. Whether it was an intentional nod to that story or not.
Fellow suspense fans will love this. This book is nearly non-stop and the tension in the story just keeps rising.
