Ursula asked Aria if she had heard of the pre-launch party. Ursula was Aria roommate and best friend. Aria said she had heard of the party it had been the biggest reason why it had been such a long day. Erik Dickson was ichaerge of the party and the launch. He had hired all the best party planners, decorators, and DJs and who knew who else from L A. They all chugged coffee at the cafe and chatted about how quaint it was to have a connected book store. Aria managed both the Cafe and bookstore. Aria understood why the party was being thrown. To drum up a more elite clientele. Celebrities from all over we're to fly in for the party and stay for the grand opening of the new Dickson hotel. To Aria it felt like a lot of Fairhaven was being excluded. Aria was attracted to Erik and he was everything she wanted but he was Ursula's. Erik was giving this party and hotel open his all. He spent every waking hour working to make the launch of Hotel Ever After a success. Aria’s attraction for Erik only grew as her esteem of him grew. Knowing how she felt and Ursula didn’t really care deeply for Erikor think of ho, at night or any other man. Erik was just a temporary toy to Ursula. Aria’s boss Bette returned from France and had a seashell necklace for Aria said it reminded her of Aria. Aria loved the ocean. Also she told Aria she was going to the pre launch. Aria felt what was the sense of going to the party when Erik wouldn’t even see her.
I enjoyed this book . It was a short fun read. Yes basically a modern telling of The Little Mermaid. But that didn't bother mke. But I didn’t care for the instalust. I was happy Erik wanted more than a one night stand. I really enjoyed the plot and pace. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.
The whole time I was reading the book I kept thinking that the author must be a fan of the tv series "Once upon a time" or something like that. It was a good book and I enjoyed the story. I haven't read any of the previous books in the series, so I wasn't familiar with the world this author had created. This is Ariel's story. Oops, I meant to say Arias. As you can guess it's a retelling of the beloved story, but in a modern version if it. The characters are weird and without any abilities like the magic Ursula had. I didn't like the insta-lust and I found the story a little abrupt, but I liked it overall.
it is perfect for light read for 3 stars. Nothing too heavy
A light read with a fairy tale bent...the nod to the fairy tale genre is subtle, carefully woven into the story. You may see The Little Mermaid in this book.
