I tried....I really did. But I just couldn't get into this story! There was no character development; I felt no connection to the characters at all

I've read Charlotte Stein previously, but I think this book cemented the fact that her writing style is just not for me. I went into this book hoping my mind could be changed, because it had all the elements I enjoy, but I found the same glaring issues I've had in the past. Sure it is sexy. But not only was the plot weak, the characters were not developed and the strange love triangle going on did not work for me in the least. I'm actually surprised I finished it, but I was just trying to see if I could find something that would make it all work for me. So I guess what this boils down to, is that I can with all certainty say that I do not recommend this one.

Have you ever read something and then immediately thought to yourself “wtf did I just read?’ That is the best way I can describe Forstbitten. Half of the time I wasn’t sure what was even going on. The writing was so bizarre, vague, and all over the place, I am still trying to find the plot. I thought the erotic scenes could save it, but those were a mess as well. Everything about this book made it sound enticing. However, the execution was so poorly done, I am left wondering what drugs the author was on when she wrote it and would I understand it if I took them too?

What I expected from Stein, however, it did drag a bit toward the end. Aside from that, Stein continues to be an auto-read for me.

Not impressed by this one. The story falls flat. My standards for a shorter story are not very high but I had a hard time getting a sense of the setting. The characters themselves are hard for me to describe at the end of the book.

2.5 stars
Just was not enough, more detail was needed, and at times the writing felt the author lost her train of thought.

A good read. I was a bit surprised because it started out slow but toward the middle things started getting interesting. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
And as always Happy Reading

I love the concept of this book; it has amazing potential for both sexiness and emotional character development. I also love Stein's characters; they too have amazing potential to be more than just types or tropes. Sadly, though, I didn't love this book. It isn't bad at all, but it's very rushed; the book is really too short to do the plot idea or the characters justice. Rather than give her story time to evolve naturally, the reader is given only a brief set-up to help introduce the characters and their world, and then the story is over before I really had time to appreciate it. Given the concept and plot, it's also somewhat hesitant in its sexiness; the erotic scenes are almost detached in their descriptions, lacking the forthrightness I tend to appreciate in Riptide publications. The story isn't unsexy, though, and it has its moments of great one-liners in Cora's mental monologues, but I wish there was more to appreciate.
