Really liked this book, it's easy to read, explains real science behind the diet and has some great recipes too.
Having read this book i must most definitely say that i am over impressed with this book. Mr Stork has written an impressive book to aid in others weight loss struggles and help them to reach optimal weight loss in an easy and relaxed way. I have followed Mr Travis Stork on The Dr's and have always held an deep respect for the man. His advice and tips are always on point and you can be sure that his words of wisdom are exactly what the doctor ordered. Lets not forget he is an absolute babe hahaha..
Overall i give him 100/100 .. This is by far an absolute must have and must read.
The Lose Your Belly Diet by Dr. Stork was a worthwhile read with some good advice about healthy living. It primarily focuses on the latest research about how microbes and the different types of foods we eat and how they affect our bodies. A slimmer you and a smaller belly are side effects of a healthier more-energized you. Part I of the book examines well-documented research and Part II is about foods that lead to a healthier you, including some practical recipes. An examination of gut microbes and their effect on your health, and how to make them healthy dominates a lot of the research portion. It was very understandably written, and well documented which I appreciated. The only thing I can criticize is the fact that he called gut microbes " Little Buddies" which I found somewhat disconcerting in a book written for adults. I applaud, however, Dr. Stork's willingness to admit that science is not quite definitive in some areas and the fact that he supplies reputable websites and encourages his reader to check them in the future for more information. Dr. Stork's actual diet was to me healthy and doable. It focused on 5 main points: 1. Enjoy probiotic foods every day. 2. Eat an abundance of Prebiotic foods. 3. Pick a mix of proteins. 4. Choose healthy grains. 5. Embrace healthy fats. Similar research on the topic supports his advice which, if followed, should lead to a healthier you. Thank you Ghost Mountain Books for the ARC, and for allowing me to review this book.
If you've never read a book on diet or nutrition, then this is a good book as it covers the basics in a way that is very easy to understand. If you have ever read a book on diet or nutrition this book will not bring anything new to the table and is almost presented at an elementary level. I really like Dr. Stork, but this book is only for someone who knows absolutely nothing about nutrition.
I thought this was pretty good. A lot of useful information on gut microbes that I had no knowledge of before. I definitely would have liked more recipes though. I felt when I got to the end with the recipes, there weren't enough. Also a lot of them didn't interest me enough to try this diet..
This is a cheerful and perky book filled with cute names for things (friendly intestinal bacteria are your Little Buddies, while apples, pears, and berries are Super Fruits. Along with the cuteness you'll find scientific evidence, clearly explained, for the new understanding of obesity and weight loss.
The Lose Your Belly Diet consists of five simple rules. But the book also includes meal plans and recipes to make your new way of eating easier. This book is not really about a diet -- it's about permanent healthful changes in the way you eat that will make you healthier. And help with that belly, too.
This is an easy to understand diet book. Eat more fiber, fruits and vegetables and less animal based foods. Dr. Stork documents his findings with many studies and food trials. Lots of recipes and some interesting equivalent charts for substitutions. Lots of "food" for thought.
Something I love about doctor Travis Stork is that he is great at breaking down medical jargon for the layman. His conversational tone make his books so easy to read and that is helpful when you are reading about your health and trying to do better for yourself. I like that in The Lose Your Belly Diet, Dr. Stork goes into detail about gut health and gut microbiome, sharing some insight into why so many people are obese, as well as what gut microbiomes have to do with overall health. It was an exciting book that I read in one setting. Best of all, the recipes shared at the end all sound delicious. I never like when books like this use the word "diet" in the title, but if that gets some people to read this book than I will forgive it. This is not a "diet" as much as a healthier way of eating and learning more about your body so you can treat it better, I recommend this book to absolutely anyone who wants to take better care of their health, whether that is to lose weight, to tone up, or to just begin (or continue) on a better path to eating well.
