This is a must read. Not only does it help us understand Jesus but it helps the reader understand themselves in relation to Christ. It presents a lot of widely held thoughts and breaks them down through use of the scripture. Read it slowly so you can digest everything there is in this book. It's excellent.
I received a digital copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher. I was in no way obligated to write a review. Receiving a copy in no way influenced my review. All thoughts are my own.

I am going to honest about being split on this book. I loved the first part of this book with the sermons on Jesus. I found them rich and deep and creating a longing more of Jesus. Then the second part of book sort of jumped off of this great track onto another track of calling out Christians around certain beliefs. I am not saying they were wrong, it just seemed a bit of a transition for me that lost me. Overall, i love anything that Tozer talks about. He is so good.

An absolutely beautiful book focusing on the many aspects of our beautiful Savior. I found myself dwelling on the goodness of God and seeing things in a new light, thanks to Tozer's spiritual and anointed words that are evidence of time spent in the 'secret place.'

The redemptive work of Christ is the work of his birth, his death, and his resurrection to the right hand of God.
If you are a fan of Tozer, you will be encouraged by his insight in the work of Christ. Tozer does not go on rabbit trails but with clarity and focused teaching to scripture a student of Christ will benefit from Tozer's work.
Some teachers I follow do not teach or leave out the work of Christ to the nation of Israel. Tozer does not. He believes strongly in the future glory of Israel and how the Lord will and still uses the nation of Israel to bring the whole world to himself.
Tozer is also not about self-improvement, social, etc gospel but how God changes our moral situation. God suffered so we may cry out have mercy on us...that is what changes our moral situation.
Tozer writes as he writes to a friend. With warning, encouragement and the truth of the Gospel. he brings to light the work of Christ so that we may be transformed and know the deep love of God thru the Gospel.
A Special Thank You to Moody Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

You cannot go wrong with anything by Tozer. I love this devotional style review of Tozer's Biblical teachings, would highly recommend it.

You truly can not go wrong with anything from Tozer. The selections for this book were wonderful and ordered out in a wonderful way.

Highly enjoyable read. In what comes across as a series of sermons, we are treated to a collection of the works of A.W. Tozer, a true legend of modern protestant circles. Despite their assembly from different volumes, the collection creates a true progression through the life, teaching, and lordship of Christ without being exegetical. There are glimpses into the scholarship of the author, but the consistent tone is rooted in a love of scripture and the Savior.
I doubt there will be many revelations here. Still, the value of this volume is exactly what you always take away when reading Tozer: the feeling of a little community, brought together by mutual love of their Lord, in an embracing and powerful way. The language is personal, and at times you may forget that this was written decades ago.

I greatly enjoyed this carefully curated selection of AW Tozer’s writings about Jesus. I’m not a theologian. I’m just a busy mom and teacher with not much time to read. And yet I want to read things that will help my spirit grow. This book met my needs wonderfully. It allowed me to sample Tozer’s writings without getting bogged down. Each of the relatively short chapters (about 10 pages each) allowed me to ponder different aspects of who Jesus is. The first few chapters (The Self-Existent God, God’s Express Image, and so on) centered my thoughts on the fact that Jesus is truly God in all ways. The next few chapters dealt with His mission as Savior and His life on earth (The Mystery of Incarnation, The Center of All, Our Mediator, The Resurrection, etc.). And the final few chapters enlarged my thinking about Jesus as Eternal King (The Ascended Lord, Our High Priest, The Second Coming, and The Head of New Creation). I can honestly say this book has refreshed my heart and increased my love for my Savior and King. Thank you, Moody Publishers.
I gratefully received this book as an eARC from the publishers and NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

The beauty of this book will move the reader to go deeper into the Word....deep calls to deep.

This was the first book that I have read by A. W. Tozer. The book is totally about Jesus and gives a lot of wisdom and insight into the importance of Jesus and why we should follow him. This book helped me to have a more in depth appreciation for what Jesus has done for us and I know it has helped make my prayers more meaningful. I am looking forward to reading other books by A. W. Tozer soon. I loved this one.
