LOVED THIS BOOK. Highly recommend and have bought it for multiple people! I read it right as I was going back to work after having my daughter and I found it to be so helpful and kind at the same time.
A guide on how to master the transition back to the "new" you after having a baby when the sleepless nights might have eased up just a bit. I think every new mom or more seasoned moms can benefit from the information and tips about mommy guilt, me time, and pumping. Sometimes you need validation or a fresh set of eyes when you are getting used to the new normal for you. Every baby brings a new transition to the house - one kid isn't the same as two or three. I appreciate Lauren Brody articulating my feelings and making The Fifth Trimester an enjoyable read.
Currently going through my 5th Trimester I can say this book did help me go back to work when my baby was six weeks old. I like that she didn't just assume everyone had the same options as everyone else and that this is a difficult process for everyone. The chapters on clothes and childcare were very helpful. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that it gets a little repetitive and probably could have been a shorter book.
As a 1st time mom who is about to start her third trimester, this was really interested to see what to expect after baby is here. There aren't a lot of books that focus on that that are just fear mongering.
It also has been one of the most popular books in our parenting section.
We need more books like this one—well-written guidance that feels conversational and is buttressed by original research. This title resonated with me as a working mom in the 5th trimester.
Informative and chatty in a familiar and reassuring tone, yet frank, this book is what every new mom navigating or about to navigate the waters of the working mom should read. Tips and ideas, examples, and relevant information can all be found here. It's easier said than done, but being a working mom knowing that others are in the same or similar boat is quite reassuring.
