'The Case of the Team Spirit (Bad Machinery #1) by John Allison brings us another story from the group of school kids living in Tackleford, England. It's another winner in the series.

A new football stadium is being built in town and the mysteries abound. Shauna, Charlotte, and Mildred want to help an old lady they've nicknamed Mrs. Biscuits to keep her house. The stadium people want to tear it down and she just wants to be left alone.

Meanwhile, the local football team seems to be victim of some freak accidents and Jack, Linton, and Sonny think there might be a curse involved. Of course, this being Tackleford, there is usually something supernatural involved.

There are also lots of laughs as these school kids are full of snarkiness. There is an incident with a bully that steals a coat that is pretty hilarious, and I found lots to like in this volume. There is a glossary of terms in the back for non-British readers not familiar with some of the slang. There are also a series of newspaper articles about the history of the Tackleford sports team. I enjoyed this as much as the other volumes in the series I've read.

Graphic novel about teenagers. And it seems fairly true to that age group. So, probably good for young teens and tweens who want to be teenagers. Most of the teenagers I know prefer to read a bit above their age group.
