This book begins right where Hard Rules left off as Shane confronts Emily about her past as he believes that it is somehow connected to his family when the real reason is that she wants to protect him from the danger that she brings. She runs believing that is the only way to protect him but Shane is not about to let her go so that only delays the inevitable.

Once she shares her past with him it only adds to the burden he carries between the people from her past and the criminal element that his family has brought to their lives but he still forges forward with the plans to legitimize the family business. The only thing that allows him to continue is his desire to have Emily in his life and ensure her safety but will he be successful?

The suspense, secrets and twists continue but at the same time the deep love and connection between Shane and Emily becomes stronger. Thank goodness Bad Deeds is out Aug 8. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

A romance story that is equal parts sexy, dangerous and full of suspense. You will need to read book 1 first, but you will get hooked into Emily and Shane and their relationship no matter how intense and at times fractured it is still all consuming for them both. Looking forward to reading book 3

This is turning out to be such an awesome series! There is so much going on that no one can claim to be bored. You've got two crazy families, the mob, FBI and a million secrets that are coming to light.

You will want to start with book 1, Hard Rules. Just a small recap, Emily and Shane hook up for a one night stand only to find out Emily's new job is at Shane's company. As these two kept getting drawn together, Emily realizes Shane is in the middle of a tug of war with the family business. Shane realizes Emily is not who she says she is and he's determined to find out what she's hiding.

Damage Control picks up right where Hard Rules left off. Shane is determined to get the truth out of Emily and vows to protect her, all the while he is battling his father, brother and even his mom to keep their company clean and gain control. His brother is mixed up with the mob and is willing to do anything to get the control of the business.

Shane is cleaning up one disaster after another. He's willing to do almost anything to keep Emily safe and Emily is trying to help Shane by spying on his father and brother. This book kept me guessing the whole way through and I loved it! It does continue onto book 3. ARC provided NetGalley.

I'm really toggling between 4 & 4 1/2 stars so I figure I will round up to 5 because that is what I do for a 4 1/2 star rating. Damage Control is the second in the Dirty Money series and I really enjoyed it. The characters are wonderful and complex. I loved all of the dimensions that each character has. Shane and Emily are quick witted and it was a lot of fun to see the chemistry between the characters.

I'm completely intrigued by the plot line of this series. I have been wanting to get to the end the second I started reading this book. I'm glad that this book grabbed my attention more than "Hard Rules" it was a quick read (when I didn't have to stop due to a week long migraine).

All in all, I really like this series and I cannot wait to read the ending.

4.5 Stars Damage Control is book 2 in the Dirty Money series and returns us to Shane & Emily. Brothers will be tested and secrets revealed, will Shane and his men be able to contain the fall out or will the past put a shadow on the future. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading book 3

Shane's life is spiraling even more out of control. He thought once he had Emily back and now that her secrets are all out in the open and she's been protected, that just maybe his life might somehow go right for once. But, Derek and Brandon Senior are still playing games, especially Derek. As the suspense and intrigue heighten, Shane struggles with the darkness inside him that he doesn't want to acknowledge, and doesn't want Emily to ever see.

Emily is now committed to protecting Shane by standing at his side, not by running from him. But, how can she protect him if he won't let her in completely, won't allow her to know everything going on? As much as I like Shane, that is the crux of my problem with him - he demands complete honesty from Emily, but when push comes to shove he doesn't give her the same respect, not until the very end. I'm hoping that in Bad Deeds, he'll open up completely or they won't have a chance of making it.

Bring on the 3rd and 4th stories, can't wait!

Oh, what a tangled web of lies this family weaves...

This book picks up right where Hard Rules left off so if you did not read that one you don't want to start this one or you will be totally lost (I had to go back and re-read it because I was a year out from reading it). In this one we learn Emily's secret and more of Shane's family's absolutely dysfunctional ways. I have to say I am really enjoying this series and really glad I get to delve into the next book immediately!

I highly recommend this series and will not give anything away other than to say take a deep breath because there is a lot going on!

Most important part of this review - if you haven't read Hard Rules stop and do that first. This is a series that must be read in order. This book picks up right were Hard Rules left us hanging. In this one Emily and Shane's relationship is put to the test when Emily's secrets are uncovered and poor Shane is not only dealing with that but with his completely power and money hungry dysfunctional family. All this while trying to save the family business. No stress though. I was slightly let down with Emily's secret. I would have liked it to be a bit more dramatic but maybe there is more to come about this. Overall the book and series is fantastic so far.

The entire series is very well done and definitely not to be missed. If your not a fan of cliffhangers you may want to wait until book 3 Bad Deeds releases to start but DO start. You won't be disappointed. I highly recommend it.

What is about walls or doors...? LOL.

Shane has a problem with it, but not me. Oh no! I love every time he presses Emily against a wall and frames her legs with his. Sighs.

Oh, sorry about that but I have to say it.

So about the book.

They say things get better in time. And Damage Control is no exception. Lisa Renee Jones grabbed my attention with Hard Rules. But with Damage Control, she has trapped me in a web of lies, power, control, and passion. And I don't see myself getting out of it.

"How do I protect her when our families are basically two tornadoes about to sideswipe us at any moment, or worse, collide, with devastating results?"

Here's hoping Emily's secret plays a bigger role in the next books, because seriously, that was it? All the buildup for that? It was a big thing, yes. But I was really expecting more. It was my only issue with the entire story. So, I had to get it off my chest.

Enough about my issues, let's talk about Shane and Emily. Their relationship took a big step in this book. While their relationship was just ok for me in the first book, in Damage Control I found myself cheering for their relationship so much more.

"It's not you anymore," he says, his hands back on my naked waist, branding me, seducing me. "It's not me anymore. It's us.

You have no idea how much I want them to win this shit. TOGETHER.

Everything around Shane & Emily is a nightmare. At times while reading this I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall... then I realized I needed to find out who would be the next one backstabbing Shane, so I just kept reading.

Angst will be your friend while reading Damage Control, so be prepared because the bombshells will come around when you least expect them and stab you in the face.

Overall, I loved it. It feels like a new addiction. I loved the characters, the writing style and I can't wait for the next book. I'm ready for some answers... and yeah, more questions.

The covers for the Dirty Money series are great. They are easy to distinguish with their unique branding and cover images. The covers grabbed me and made me want to give them a try. The author did not disappointing. Fun, quick, sexy reads with just the right amount of bad boy angst. I've already recommended them to my family and friends.

Picking up where Hard Rules left off, the story I immediately delves into Emily's secret. She and Shane must decide to move forward or part ways. There are more secrets, betrayals, family fighting and suspense throughout the story. The heat between Shane and Emily intensifies leading to a deeper connection that neither one of them planned for. It keeps you turning the pages and wanting to dive into Bad Deeds.

No one writes romantic suspense like Lisa Renee Jones. I love the continuing story between Emily and Shane. Love how their relationship is unfolding, blossoming. Love Shane protective nature. Love that Emily isn't a doormat heroine. Can't wait for Bad Deeds!

This book picks up right where Hard Rules left off. Shane has confronted Emily about who she really is.

Emily is afraid that whoever is looking for her is going to find Shane and hurt him and since she has fallen in love with him, she knows she must leave him so he doesn't get harmed. Too bad Shane is not going to let her go. After a mad search, Shane finally finds Emily and convinces her that they belong together and he is not letting her go. After some poking and prodding, Emily finally lets Shane know all her secrets....and compared to his, they are not so bad! LOL

The Brandon family is still up to all the games they keep playing with each other. It is crazy how people in the same family treat each other! While Shane is trying to get the family business to be 100% legit, his brother Derek is too busy trying to bring in the Martina Cartel. Throw in both of Shane's parents games and this is one crazy ride. Shane is starting to realize that he needs to start playing the game a little dirtier and I can't wait to see where this will lead!

Damage Control picks up almost immediately after Hard Rules (book 1). Emily is trying to leave Shane in an effort to protect him from her past, present, and what may happen in the future. Unable to let her go, Shane tracks Emily down. Layer by layer, Emily reveals her painful past and the horrible secret she's been carrying for years. As Shane and his right hand man Seth begin digging into Emily's life to help solve her problems, the Martina Cartel shows their hand, subtly letting Shane know they've wormed their way into Brandon Enterprises. This revelation is not a huge surprise but does bring the cartel a whole lot closer that what is comfortable. Along with the cartel, Shane also his dastardly brother, ailing father, and conniving mother to contend with.

Damage Control is another wonderful book in the Dirty Money series. Shane's character is strong, ruthless when necessary, yet tender and affectionate. His feelings for Emily continue to grow stronger every day. Emily is also a strong character; she has to be in order to survive the turmoil and secrets that have been eating her up inside. Emily and Shane truly care for one another. They compliment each other and Emily illuminates the darkness Shane must maneuver through.

Lisa Renee Jones blends suspense, intrigue, and romance into an action packed sophomore novel! I was engaged with Emily and Shane's story from the beginning and book 2 drew me further into their world. I was pulled into the drama and romantic suspense elements of the book. Every element of Damage Control was enjoyable from the dark revelations to the intense emotions that make up the lives of Shane and Emily.

I voluntarily reviewed an copy through NetGalley.

'Damage Control' by Lias Renee Jones is book Two in the "Dirty Money" series. This continues the story of Emily Stevens and Shane Brandon. I would recommend reading the previous book "Hard Rules" since that book starts their story. But, Ms. Jones did set this book up so that you could catch up to their story if you choose not to read the first book.
Damage Control picks up right where Hard Rules ended. As we know Emily hasn't be honest with Shane about herself and her past. But Shane is now confronting her and wanting her to have no more lies between them. Since his brother Derek did a background check on Emily, Shane wants answers. But Emily is arguing that her secrets are her secrets and upset that a background check was done on her.
Emily saw something that could get her killed and possible him if she is found out.
Shane is still dealing with his family and trying to bring things to a honest dealing but his family is pretty messed up I think.
I just cannot get enough of this series and their story does get continued to another book.
I wish this story could be made into a movie...I love it that much!

There is even more action and danger in Damage Control than in the first book. Emily and Shane have a lot difficulties to deal with; most of it outside of their control.

Story:
Danger galore in Damage Control. And the familial relationships are more than tense. Emily is still keeping back part of herself, as she is too afraid her past will catch up with her and damage Shane. The plot moves forward nicely, and the pace is fairly even. There are a lot of sex scenes, and sometimes, I skimmed part of them, as I didn’t feel they always added something to the actual story.

Characters:
Shane is fairly standoffish in some ways, but he really cares for Emily. She has some dark secrets that come to light in Damage Control. Shane’s family is like a viper nest, though, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Good thing Shane’s assistant and some of his hired hands are on hand to make sure Shane and Emily stay as safe as possible.

Writing style :
First person present tense – which brings the reader right into the action. Chapters from either Emily’s or Shane’s point of view.

Feels :
Not that many, the suspense was the main feel I had when it comes to Damage Control.

Well, lot of things went down in Damage Control. Most importantly, Shane got the truth about Emily. He knows about the Hacker group The Genesis. The events are being unfolded like episodes of a tv series you must tune in each week to watch. What's around the corner promises to be worth the wait in
Bad Deeds (Book 3)    read more
Shane is now knee deep in a cycle of violence and betrayal. Although he tries to maintain a normal relationship with Emily he is drawn deeper into the corrupt family business his brother Derek has laid at his doorstep.
We are left wondering how the sins of the father will play out. Brandon Senior is emerging as a sympathetic and even admirable character. Why you ask? He respects Emily and maybe protecting her too? Derek is vile. There is no other way to express my feelings for him.
What keeps me turning the pages is Shane's response to Emily. He cares for her deeply. He wants to protect her. He respects her. What ever she needs he wants to provide. End of. Shane Brandon is the perfect romantic hero.
Book 2 is gripping and does not disappoint. We have lust and betrayal. Emily's hacker storyline is given less weight but it will leave you riveted and patiently waiting.

I enjoyed this second instalment of the Brandons' saga as well as the first book. Even though this is supposed to be a filler between the first and the second book, it is still action packed. We now know the full story of who Emily is. We are still waiting for the other shoe to drop. I would want to know where her brother is for starters. As for Shane and his family, there is boatloads of deals, affairs and now the Mafia. 'It is getting hot in here'. So, on to the last book in the series. I am sure it will be memorable. Onward march!
