If you are looking to read a book that will enhance your emotional intelligence and equip you with mindfulness tools, this is a very good book to read.

Halley starts with sharing how life can get so chaotic, we find ourselves in a rut and wonder how we can ever be straightened out to achieve a semblance of balance

She then shares successful strategies that she employs to nurture and sustain her inner life. They include mindfulness, healing negativity, elevating positivity, awareness, connection and nurturing

She provides activities and resources in this book that help the readers implement plans to sustain a healthy life

Favourite quote: “When we engage in life this way - attempting to gain self-worth and belonging through means outside ourselves-we are destined to fail.”

“Until we define who we are and what we are, we will remain the proverbial bottomless pit or a shape shifter, borrowing someone else’s identity in the hopes that we finally experience contentment.”

This book evoked all the things I knew to be true after 15 years writing and teaching personal development courses - there is nothing very new in here, but it is well delivered and explained and a very helpful book.

Variable. Some annoying ways of writing things e.g. Question? (Raises hand). The latter part of the book was better than the beginning (1 & 2 were not great). Quoted lots of people but few scientists which I thought was telling.

The general level of the book was too airy fairy for me which meant I didn't properly engage with what useful content there was. Others may be able to get past this more easily.

a major disappointment...this book sounded so good, but it just is not

Life, Incorporated is a self-help book with a unique structure, that contains mostly the same information and exercises that you can find in similar books. If the structure is one that the reader finds engaging, it's a good book to use for a transformation. If the structure doesn't really fit, which is what I personally experienced, it's not as useful. I think public libraries would do well to purchase this book; there are plenty of readers looking for new avenues for self-improvement who would do well to check this book out.

In this busy, hectic , denmanding world I think the best thing we can do is take time for ourselves and the ones we love. This can be difficult with such a fast paced society but this book shows how it can be done. This wonderful teaches us how to find peace and balance from the inside out. It has been written simply but clearly with deep thought. Reading this book can change how we look at what is really important and how we live life. I absolutely love it.
