I loved reading about Georgia and Daniel and while the sexy story made me fall in love with the characters, the emotion kept my love for them new and forever.
I've enjoyed Mia Hopkins' cowboys and couldn't wait for the next in her Cowboy Cocktails. Cowboy Rising is the fifth and latest in the series.
I enjoyed the match of Georgia and Daniel. What appears to maybe not be the best pairing, ends up really working for me. I liked that they came from different backgrounds and we get to see how they grow as their relationship develops. We get the feels along with the sexy times.
I'm always looking forward to the next Mia Hopkins book. I love that she delivers the sweet and the sexy with diverse characters.
Georgia was a reporter from the L A Chronicle and worked the Central Valley long enough to know that cowboys and ranchers related to her one of two ways: patronizing teasing or outright flirtation. The sooner they realized she met business the sooner she could get her quotes and file her story. Today Georgia had an appointment with Dale Mackinnon. Georgia’s story was about organic cattle ranching. Dale MacKinnon’s ranch was the first to apply for organic certification.Georgia was there to write about the process. Georgia usually went for bearded tattooed type guys and that were older than her. Daniel a son came forward he was in his twenties and told Georgia his father wasn’t available that day and she would have to reschedule her interview. Georgia then said that just two days ago Daniel’s father said he could give her as tour of the ranch and walk her through the organic certification process. She had already driven one and a half hours to get there today. Then Georgia proceeded to say she could change her article to one of conventional ranching operations and that someone may have time to talk to her at the Hughes ranch which was the ranch before this one. The Daniel asked her she knew how to ride and she said a little and then daniel said “ alright , let’s go” .The Chronicle's dwindling readership put Georgia’s job in jeopardy and in an attempt to stay relevant to readers Georgia had picked a long form story on organic farming and sustainable agriculture. As Central valley’s correspondent Georgia had already written many stories on agricultural policy, weather, and organized labor. But most interviews were done over the phone with Georgia in her office. Georgia hadn't ridden a horse since she was thirteen and that was seventeen years ago. Daniel told Clark who was his younger brother to give Georgia a tour of the ranch and to answer any questions she had, give her something to eat and send her on her way that Daniel himself was too busy to talk today. Georgia was furious with the way Daniel had dismissed her. Georgia grew up with a military dad and was used to moving around a lot. Later on that night Georgia was at a local bar and Daniel showed up there and got really drunk and was thrown out. Daniel and Georgia had been attracted to each other right away but Daniel didn’t show that to Georgia. Then go to her hotel room for a one night stand. Although they spend the next day together also. Daniels father was sick and Daniel’s older brother Dean took off. Daniel had not wanted to run the ranch Daniel had a promising career as a petroleum engineer but he have to give up his dreams and come home and run the ranch. To Daniel family came first. After being with Georgia Daniel is calmer than he had been for a long time. But Georgia left and hadn’t even said goodbye. After Georgia had left Daniel was torn and wanted to find her and then Daniel’s mom told him to follow his heart but her Georgia’s job had went under with the Chronicle and Daniel now had to find Georgia.
I loved this story. Once I started it I didn’t want to put it down. I loved how Daniel gave up his dream even though inside he was very angry about that but still put his family first. I liked how feisty Georgia was by saying she would go to Hughes ranch. I also loved that Georgia got to see the loyal and caring man inside past all his anger. This had a great plot but also a great flow to it. I don’t usually like the insta/love/ lust romance thing but for some reason this time it worked for me and didn’t bother me. This also had a great ending. The only thing i would have changed if I could would be that the story be longer but other than that I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.
A cattleman’s son Daniel MacKinnon went to school to look for oil and is now back running his families ranch because his father is sick. Trying to make the best of it he is not in the mood for interviews when a reporter shows up on the ranch. Georgia Myers was not expecting to be taken by surprise by Daniel. Yes he was rude, and not very talkative, but he sure was sexy just walking towards to cow who he was going to help birth a calf something she had never seen before and was taken back at how cool calm and collected he appeared. He was taken by her beauty in a subtle way, but he still did not want to talk to her. Later while she was at the local bar she was surprised when she saw him again this time drunk and being thrown out of the bar. She did not know what came over her but she took him back to her hotel and this begins a passion between the both of them that does not stop until her up and leaves town. He is now torn in wanting to find her and when he finds out that her job was gone because of cuts he is at a loss until his mother says he must follow his heart. The journey he takes to find her, and himself is what makes this a very good book and one that I hope you all take a time to read. A good story of love, hot sex, and fining one self.
High heat level in this one. Things get quite steamy between Daniel and Georgia. Georgia is a little older than Daniel, but the way they are with one another you don't even give it a thought. Daniel's life is going on a path he didn't except or want, but his family is everything to him so he will what is asked if him. Georgia is writing an article to hopefully save her job, but her assignment gets quite interesting with the chemistry between her and Daniel. Though there is a of steam in this one there is also a great story being told. That's a winning combination in my book.
