This story is scorching hot, intense, sweetly romantic, completely captivating and dramatic. The storyline is twofold, one part is about Sam's PTSD and the other is about Sam, King and Jane being together. It's sad but heartwarming, King is so good and gentle with Sam. It has steamy sex scenes and occasional laugh out loud cheeky banter. This must be added to the top of your TBR list.

Whoa!! Not at ALL what I was expecting to read. This is a MMF story with an added twist.

Jane Foster, nurse, is on vacation in Orange Beach, AL with her cousin trying to have some fun. When she is accosted in a bar by a man who doesn't like rejection, 2 huge guys step in and intervene. Turns out that both guys are football players for the Rebels football team, Jane, not knowing anything about football, doesn't know who they are but she's attracted to one of them. After drinks are bought and small talk ensues, she decides to go back to her hotel. The men insist on walking her there.

Sam and King both play football. Sam played for the Dallas cowboys before he went to Afghanistan for 2 tours and was discharged after a IED killed his unit. He suffers from PTSD. The cowboys traded him to the Rebels, upon his return. King took him under his wing and has been there for him ever since.

King is attracted to Sam, but he has kept his feelings to himself. They are in Orange Beach for 1 reason alone, to get Sam laid. He hasn't had sex since he came back from Afghanistan. He's afraid he will hurt someone if he's alone with them. So King offered to sit in the same room as them in case of a problem. This is Sam's weekend, King's only there to make sure it happens.

When they meet Jane in the bar, both men are attracted to her. Not only her looks, but her personality as well. What happens next is something that shocks them all.

A few months later, when King's nephew breaks his arm and ends up in the hospital, Jane is the ER nurse. Both men are surprised to see her, thinking that she didn't live in Alabama. The men insist on seeing her and she turns them down.

What was supposed to be a vacation fling has now become bigger than the three of them. What happens next, becomes the unthinkable, or is it?

This is book 3 in the Birmingham Rebel series and it's just as hot. Jane is all work and by the book all the time so when her friend Margo suggest a get away she isn't sure til she meets King and Sam, what was just suppose be one night of fun may end being more than any of them barging for. definitely a 5 star read.

Sam Taylor has been struggling to figure out how to forget his past and embrace his future. Luckily for him his best friend and teammate King is the perfect person to help him... find the perfect distraction.

ER nurse Jane Foster is tired of being a good girl and is ready to get all kinds of wild with Sam....and King!

The real question is can Sam and King convince Jane to make their one night of fun into a lifetime of pleasure? Read and find out!

I voluntarily read this advance review copy of this book.

Oh Samantha Kane, how you rocked this book! It was hot and romantic with the perfect amount of drama... it just pulls you in before you realize its happening.

Sam, King and Jane are the perfect trio. I loved that King was so confident and secure that he didn't care about titles, he just knew what he wanted and if it happened to be his best friend... then hey it is what it is. Sam was so curious, he wanted to dive into everything that King and Jane could offer him but he wasn't sure if he could cross those lines. Now when it comes to Jane she was my bestie in my mind. Her reaction's were very realistic and it made the whole thing more believable.

Overall folks, this book is a hit!

After finishing his tour in the army, Sam is now playing professional football. He's concerned he's going to have a flashback sleeping with a woman so his best friend, King, keeps an eye on him. When they meet Jane at a bar, Sam feels a sexual stirring, something he hasn't felt in a while. To make him feel better, King sits in the room while Sam and Jane get it on. Suddenly we have a threesome. I've enjoyed the first two book of the Birmingham Rebels but this book seemed to drag out and I kept losing interest. The relationship between the three of them didn't feel real and was hard to believe their feelings for each other.

Jacked Up by Samantha Kane is the third book in the Birmingham Rebels series. It was the first book that I have read in this series and it did well as a stand-alone book. There was definite erotic, hot, wild sex between all three people. The main characters were two football players and an ER nurse. All three main characters had issues with relationships and there was not enough communications between them to work these issues out faster. It was a little bit repetitive, but I still enjoyed the story.

I received an advanced readers copy from NetGalley for my honest review.

Rhayne's review:

After finishing Jacked Up, I felt flushed and in need of a cold drink and an NFL game to watch the hotties on the sidelines. I’ve been a fan of the first two books in the Birmingham Rebel’s series, but this one was my favorite by far. The men were huge, gorgeous and flawed, but were such softies on the inside, I couldn’t help but fall in love with them.
King and Sam were so different from one another, but they matched perfectly. King was the larger than life football player that was the center of attention. He hid an intelligent mind and soft heart beneath his Samoan island-boy exterior, but he was just the outgoing personality that a man like Sam needed to pull him out of his shell.
Sam, on the other hand, was the decorated vet that was having trouble integrating back into a normal routine after his time in the military. He was quiet and reserved and the perfect foil to King’s boisterous persona.
Alone, each of these men was drool-worthy and amazing. But together, these two were smoldering. First as best friends and then as lovers, I simply melted reading their story.
Jane rounded out the trio. I liked her and I enjoyed the three of them together. However, Jane was so concerned about what people would think when the supposed “good girl” entered into a menage relationship. What she failed to see was that the only ones who mattered were the two beautiful men that she found love with. Her constant insecurity did make me want to reach out and slap her a bit. But the three of them together were uninhibited and simply worked. They were good for one another and helped Sam heal.
I have to admit that I wasn’t sure about the premise. I liked it, but I wasn’t sure why one supposedly straight guy needed to have his best friend just sitting in the room while he had sex. But surprisingly to me, it worked. And it was hot!
Jacked Up needs to be put on your TBR list. Characters from the other books drifted in and out of the story, but this was about King, Sam and Jane. It was a stand alone where no prior knowledge of the Rebel’s series was needed to understand what was happening. It was sexy and raunchy and sweet, but most importantly, it was a lot of fun to read. They team dynamics and interactions were a blast, and I can’t wait for the next one in the series to find out what this big group of burly kinky players are up to next!

I ended up liking this more than I thought after the rocky relationship I had with the beginning of the book. Each characters differences were stark with many layers that brought something different to the table. I like the fact of the subject of PTSD one of the characters had was included and represented. It's an element that is important, relevant and not much explored in literature. Lots of diversity in ways that I loved reading about and of course mixed in with the threesome sexy times spiced things up. Though the guys were different from each other, they were both gentlemen and I loved that they were friends and had each other's backs.

I enjoyed this book! This is my first book that I have read by Samantha Kane, but it definitely won't be my last. I found myself enjoying the writer's style and how easily the book flowed. I didn't really care for the heroine of the book. I found her quite annoying but that is just my opinion. Don't let that stop you from reading this book!!!

I wanted to love this book and I enjoyed the majority of it, but then the story took a nosedive for me. Plots involving public humiliation are oddly triggering for me. I guess my tolerance for second-hand embarrassment is quite low.

I enjoyed both heroes, Sam and King, but felt mixed emotions toward the heroine, Jane. She continually describes herself as a good girl, but whenever she explores her sexuality, she calls herself a ho and a slut. It's like she's slut-shaming herself. The guys try to build up her confidence, but ultimately I found her personality tough to connect with.

I think many readers will enjoy this menage story, but my personal hang-ups about a key plot point involving the aforementioned humiliation prevented me from loving it.

This is a hot steamy read. Trying to let go of your good girl persona, Jane has a one-night stand with Sam and King. Awkwardness and doubt surround her when they meet again. Sam has his own doubts and works through them and his PTSD with help from King, Jane, and his therapist. King is a wonderful person, takes everything as it comes, is kind, and loyal. As they found their way together, I had a few tears, a few laughs, and an enjoyable read. This is the third in the series, and other than bumping into characters from the other books, it stands alone.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley, and it is a Book Obsessed Chick Star Review selection. This is my unsolicited review.

This was one hot read that I enjoyed from start to finish. The characters Sam, King and Jane were well written with real life issues and off the charts chemistry. I enjoyed watching Sam work through his PTSD issues and come to terms with his sexuality. I also liked how King was open about his feelings for both Sam and Jane especially while being patient with them. Jane was such a caring and nurturing character as she learned to go outside of her comfort zone. When the three were together, they were burning hot! The plot of this story progressed well and was not super fast moving to the point of unbelievable. I would recommend this book to others and I look forward to more in this series to come.

Simplistic writing and no depth in the story or the characters. I was bored and when I realized I didn't even want to read the sex scenes it seemed time to tap out. I didn't feel any connection between the characters emotionally, lot's of telling, no showing. And even from a smut level it didn't work for me. Lot's of "yes. yes, baby give it to me's" and lines like this "Lay back and spread your legs. I'm coming in.". *giant eye roll*

Another good story in the Birmingham Rebels series. The love triangle with Sam, Jane & King is very hot. A one night stand while on a weekend away brings Sam back to life a little as he tries to get his life together in the NFL after serving 2 tours in Afghanistan. Jane is a good girl who never does anything bad but she's ready for a change, so when she meets Sam & King in a bar she decides to try something different. They are brought back together by King's nephew & a visit to the ER where Jane is working. Seeing them again she realizes how much she enjoyed them & would like to see them again but she's afraid of the publicity they could garner. Their relationship starts out good until pictures from a party circulate & all hell breaks loose. I also enjoyed the side story of Sam trying to help his friend & former unit member Carmina try to assimilate back into normal life with her brain injury from the war. It was very interesting learning about this type of injury. I also noticed that I was giggling quite a bit in this book which surprised me because of the seriousness of some of the subject. Well done. Definitely recommend.

The secret about the Birmingham Rebels is out: With a girl in the middle, two mouth-watering football studs are better than one.

Linebacker Sam Taylor feels like a ticking time bomb. He left the army with emotional wounds as fresh as the scars on his back. Sam’s been living like a monk, but his best friend, defensive lineman King Ulupoka, wants to get him laid. Easy for him to say. The larger-than-life Samoan is a hard-bodied, tribal-tattooed fantasy. Sam agrees, under one condition: King stays to watch.

ER nurse Jane Foster is done being a good girl, and nothing says wild like picking up two of football’s sexiest players and bringing them back to your hotel room. Trouble is, she can’t decide which one she wants more. Sam is hot, sweet, and vulnerable. Jane’s more than willing to ride him into oblivion. But King’s intense gaze from across the room promises that the best is yet to come.

Sure, King has had his choice of girls and guys in the past. That doesn’t mean he’ll jeopardize his relationship with Sam over a case of locker-room lust—until a naughty nurse pushes them both out of their comfort zones. Seeing Jane and Sam together turns King on more than he ever imagined. If they’re game, he’s ready to tackle a three-way play.

I must have been in quite an unusual mood the day Mandi sent over blurbs and I offered to read this. I hardly ever read books that feature more than two people in a couple. I like to shake up my reading every now and again and try new things. Sometimes I am rewarded, sometimes I get reinforcement on why I don’t read outside my comforts.

This book did not work for me. It was over the top in many ways. Both heroes are players for the fictional Birmingham Rebels, where it would seem many of the team members are gay, bi and/or in a polyandrous relationship. Polyandry is where a woman takes two husbands, in case anyone didn’t know. I had to look it up to find out how it differs from polyamory, but let’s get back on track. I am all for diversity in my books, but I found the whole set up of the team to be unbelievable. Sam was in the military and suffers from PTSD. He hasn't been with a woman since he returned from active duty. His BFF and teammate King thinks that Sam would feel better if he got laid, so they go out and find him a woman. Also, Sam wants King to be in the room and watch while he has sex, not because either are into that kind of thing, but rather Sam is worried sex will trigger a violent episode and he will act out.

They meet Jane at the beach and take her back to their room. Jane makes it clear from the beginning that she doesn’t normally do this kind of thing. She must be kind of boring because she makes a point of telling us over and over what a “good girl” she is and how she never does these “slutty” things. In fact the word slut is used 26 times, mostly as Jane refers to herself and what she does with Sam and King. And not in the fun, own your sexuality kind of way. She continually slut-shames herself and it was horrible to read. I get being uncertain about a new relationship, particularly with two men. But her constant dialogue disrespecting and devaluing herself and Sam and King was grating after like the second time.

After their one night stand in the hotel, they decide to not see each other again. Naturally they run into each other again a few months later. Jane freaks out seeing them because of course all the people in the world are going to find out what a slut she is because she had one night of “porn” sex with them. Sam and King both try really hard to convince Jane that what they had and continue to want from her is nothing to be ashamed of. She decides to date them, both of them as a unit, and see what happens.

I felt like there was a lot of telling in the book and not a lot of showing. I noted this a few times to myself. One example is when Sam and King are trying to convince Jane to give them a chance, King notes how “Jane was a woman who liked to take her time about things.” But up to that point, they’d spent hardly anytime getting to know each other outside of the bedroom, so I found it hard to believe.

The one positive of this book was the sex was pretty hot, yet over the top. Sam was a dirty talker once he let loose. I marked a couple of quotes that I think capture that.
Sam talking to Jane-
“I only fuck one way. Lucky for you it’s hard.”
“I really want it,” he agreed. I liked getting fucked in the ass. Sue me.”

I never connected with why any of them would be interested in each other, outside of the sex. There was no enough tension or build up to the relationship between Sam and King. There just wasn’t enough there to make me believe in it. With the lack of showing me why Sam and King would be into each other and Jane’s constant shaming of herself, this book was not for me. Next time I think I want to read a book that features MMF, I’ll reread Laid Bare by Lauren Dane.

Jane Foster loves her plain, ordinary life. On vacation, she decides to step outside of her comfort zone and have a one-night stand. One of the two gorgeous men she's met at the bar fit that plan perfectly.

Sam Taylor is a war veteran and now a linebacker for the worst team in the NFL. While on vacation with his best friend, King, he's forced to confront his demons with the help of the beautiful nurse they've met at the bar. The problem with the plan is he isn't sure he can keep the demons at bay while he's with her.

King Ulupoka knows his friend needs to move on past the nightmares that plague him and the guilt that overwhelms him. He thinks by convincing Sam he needs to have a one-night stand with the beautiful nurse, Sam would be healed and can move on. He is surprised by the feelings he develops while being with the two of them.

I was drawn in immediately with this book and could not put it down. It is the first book I've read from this author but definitely not the last.

The writing is good and concise. The characters are well-developed and I found myself rooting for them. I look forward to reading more by this author.

The Birmingham Rebels series is quickly becoming one of my favorites of all time.

In this installment, you have Sam who is suffering from PTSD and is afraid of hurting others when the dreams/nightmares/flashbacks overwhelm him. He hasn't been with a woman since before he was injured because he doesn't trust himself not to hurt the woman he's with.

His best friend from the Rebels, King, knows that Sam is hurting and is doing his best to help Sam live. His solution to one of Sam's problems – get him laid. And if playing voyeur to ensure Sam doesn't hurt anyone, so be it.

Jane is on a weekend trip with her cousin at the beach when she meets Sam and King. Hitting it off almost immediately, they return to her hotel and talk late into the night. When King explains Sam's issues (much to Sam's dismay), Jane's connection to Sam grows.

When Jane, Sam, and King meet again, sparks continue to fly, not only between Jane and Sam, but between each of them, leading them to find love in unexpected places.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
4.5 stars of hot and horny sexiness!

This is the third in the series – and whilst you don't need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, you would certainly get some of the tie-ins if you do. Each book centres on a new relationship, but they continue to be mentioned in future books. The writing is smooth, and encourages you to turn just one more page, right up until the end.

We meet our trio on a trip in Atlanta. King has been trying to persuade his ex-Army pal, Sam, to end his dry spell, but Sam is fearful of having a flashback or moment which ruins the experience. King agrees to be there, if the woman agrees. He may have a secret crush on Sam, but he accepts this may be the only way to indulge it. The scenes at the beginning of the book are so effective at giving us an insight into these men, and also Jane, the woman with whom they choose to spend the night.

As the story unfolds, and the three of them meet again, the situation gets complicated to say the least. Jane has a normal, non-complicated past, and never expected to have a non-standard relationship. She does not deny the chemistry between them, but she is not sure that she can go as far as be open about their relationship. The shifting of hurt emotions between the three of them is affected by their family, their roles, and their current responsibilities – and gives us a very rich story. I loved her mother's intervention in particular, but there are many side characters who influence them and their behaviour.

There is a good mix of sport, the issues arising from Sam's time in the military, Jane's conventional past, and their hot, chemistry laden adventure together. I can't wait to see how things move forward once we get the next installment. There were all manner of hints as to whose turn it might be next, so I am very curious to find out!

Sarah – ☆☆☆☆
This story is fun, sweet, and incredibly steamy. I love friends-to-lovers romances and the bromance between Sam and King is wonderful. Great characterisation and a wonderful playfulness make it more than just erotica.

I loved Sam as a famous NFL player and military veteran too anxious about his PTSD to trust himself with a woman without King’s help. I loved Jane’s refreshing “what the hell” approach to the offer of a one-off three(ish)some. For erotica, these are surprisingly appealing and complex characters that I actually really liked. Sam is still struggling with his past, King is struggling with his attraction to Sam, and Jane is struggling with her instant public notoriety as the two men’s lover.

The plot is relatively simple here. The two men discover their attraction to each other through their attraction to Jane. This story is book three in a series about Sam and King’s team. The two men are part of the kinkiest NFL team in America and their slide from BFF bromance to lovers is sexy and a pleasure to read. As an uninhibited nurse, Jane adds one more fantasy to the mix.

The sex between these three is hot, the chemistry is brilliant, and the characters are well crafted. This is definitely erotica, but it is happy, fun, and slightly angsty erotica and I really enjoyed it.

Lee’Anne – ☆☆☆☆☆
Book three in the series, however, I read it as a standalone and thought it was great! It’s a super hot, fun read that I couldn’t put down!

Jane Foster has always been the good girl that always follows the rules. She’s a nurse who doesn’t have time for a relationship and her friend, Margo, decides that what Jane needs is to get laid. So Margo drags Jane away from their town to a nearby beach to find Jane a hookup… or two. Sam Taylor and King Ulupoka are best friends who both play football for the Birmingham Rebels. Sam used to be in the military and has a lot of issues resulting from his time deployed, very severe PTSD being the top of the list. King grounds him and keeps him sane. Sam hasn’t been with a woman since returning home from his deployment out of fear that he might have an “episode” and harm the woman. So, King “takes one for the team” by offering to be in the room when Sam “jumps back on the horse.” Now to find a willing woman… enter Jane Foster.

I have to say that this is definitely an original plotline, I found it enjoyable and, at times, hilarious. Though I think Jane and Sam are meant to be more main characters, King was definitely my favorite. His sarcasm and brutal honesty had me cracking up on more than one occasion. This read is definitely a roller coaster, one that I didn’t want to get off. I look forward to book four in this series!

Great read!! Samantha Kane creates such "real" characters & she has an ability to pull you into the story from page one. King, Jane, and Sam are interesting characters separately but together are explosive. They story is well written & the sexy time scenes are HOT.

I will be reading more stories by this author for sure! This is the 3rd book in the Birmingham Rebels series but can be read as a stand alone.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
