I liked the book, but didn't love it, although I really wanted to. The sex was incredibly hot, I'll give it 5 stars for that. But I didn't really connect with the characters and felt as though the book lacked any real substance unfortunately. I had no issues with the premise of the book, but wished there was more relationship building throughout the book instead of just sex. They went on one or two dates, fell in love, broke up (kind of) and then eventually got their HEA. It just wasn't very believable at all since they didn't really get the chance to know one another that well.

Jane is an ER nurse and runs into Sam and King, NFL players, in an Orange Beach bar. King is on a mission to get Sam laid and Jane is their target. They hit if off and decide to spend the night together. The night turns into a really hot porn-worthy sexcapade, but the next day, they leave each other and think they'll never see one another again. Sam suffers from PTSD after serving in the military and hadn't been intimate with anyone for years, until Jane. He only felt comfortable if King was in the room with him though since he was afraid he'd have a nightmare or lose control. Jane seemed to calm him and he can't stop thinking about her after they depart ways. Apparently King, the super sexy Samoan, also can't forget about the lovely Jane, but they have no idea where she is now. They have a chance meeting several months later when King's nephew ends up in the ER and Jane is the attending nurse. They eventually all get together again and decide to give a relationship a try.

My biggest problem with the book was Jane. She really annoyed me with her hot/cold attitude towards Sam & King. She liked them, but didn't want to share the spotlight with them. She kept slut-shaming and thinking bad of herself for a majority of the book. She lacked self-esteem in public but had tons of it in the bedroom. I just didn't get it. Either own up to it and be yourself or cut ties with the guys, don't drag them into your own personal misery. And the talking during sex, it was laughable most of the time and seemed totally fake. I did however enjoy King & Sam's banter in the bedroom.

I absolutely loved King! He was swoon-worthy and just a big teddy bear. Sam was a great guy who just struggled to overcome his PTSD after his vehicle was hit by an IED. I just wanted to give him a hug. I loved that the author shined light on PTSD and the support that veterans need once they return home from war. I really hope Carmina, Sam's friend and a member of his unit, gets a HEA as well, as she seemed like a really sweet lady who needs to find her happy ending.

I LOVE this author! Her “Brothers in Arms” series is one of my very favorite! This book was the first one I read of this series, and I really liked it. King is an amazing character! His optimism was so fun to read, and the way he loves Sam and Jane is so passionate and sweet. Most times, in an MMF romance, I have a special place in my heart for the male/male romance in Samantha’s books. This book was no exception. The threesome is cute together, but Sam and King... I mean, come on! They’re so…delicious! I also like the more emotional aspects of the story, even though it doesn’t seem very realistic to me that Sam would want to have sex with Jane while King was there.
There were a couple of small things about the writing itself, but they weren’t that big. The author uses some street-talk, but writes it the way it’s spoken. “Bro” would become “brah”, and I don’t really like that. Sometimes she also uses some descriptive words a little repetitively. But I really love this book anyway!

The Birmingham Rebels are back in true Samantha Kane style. King, Sam, and Jane’s story is a scorchingly hot, sexy read that will warm you up on these cold winter nights.
Sam Taylor left Afghanistan scarred physically and emotionally, feeling like maybe he was too old and messed up in the head to play pro ball. If not for the help of his good friend and teammate, King Ulupoka, everyone might see just how jacked up he really was. On the outside King looked big and mean with his Samoan tattoos, but on the inside, he was a teddy bear. He’d taken Sam under his wing and had even made him a part of his family. King wanted Sam to live life to the fullest, not watch it go by. Knowing Sam hadn’t been laid since Afghanistan because of his fear of freaking out and hurting someone, King suggests they find Sam a hook up and King would stay with him to come to his aid if he started to freak. Sam didn’t want to get laid, but it was easier to agree with King on most things. But where would they find a girl who’d agree to their plan?
ER nurse Jane Foster was always known for being sober, responsible, and dependable. When Sam and King come to her rescue in a bar, she immediately is drawn to them and buys them a drink. King shares their plan with Jane, and though she is shocked that they would choose her, she can’t help but be intrigued. What King was proposing was so outside of Normal Jane, it was crazy. “She may have always been the good girl, but that didn’t mean she had to be like that behind closed doors.” This was probably the only chance she’d ever get to indulge in something kinky. Why shouldn’t she? No one would be hurt. She’d never see Sam or King again. Her head told her it was crazy, but her body was all for it. The thought of being with one while the other watched turned her on. Knowing she’d never see them again helped her shed her inhibitions, and when they got started, it was explosive. For Jane, it was the best night of her life. And it was off the charts for Sam and King as well, because not only did they enjoy being with Jane, they felt an excitement in watching each other as well. But King wasn’t about to jeopardize his friendship with Sam over an inappropriate case of lust. Sam was confused by his feelings toward King too. If only they could be with Jane for more than one night. That would be perfect for them.
When King and Sam run into Jane in Birmingham a few months later, they know they want to continue the relationship they started that night, but Jane is more hesitant. Jane wanted a repeat of what they’d had. She’d discovered a new side of herself with King and Sam. The three of them together was a fantasy come true. But fantasies could never be reality, could they?
What an arousing, intense, passionate romance! This story started out hot and never cooled down. The chemistry between Sam, Jane, and King was sizzling. I think my Kindle may have overheated. I know I did! But Samantha Kane’s stories are so much more than just sizzle. The plot and characters are so well crafted. Sam, Jane, and King each had their own worries about their feelings and about each other’s motivation for being in a relationship that was so outside of the norm. I loved the support that Jane and King, and even the whole Rebels team gave to Sam in dealing with his PTSD. Like the other books in this series, this is a great story about love, friendship, and trust all rolled into one sexy, struggling football team. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the other players. A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection

Jacked Up is the 3rd book in the Birmingham Rebels series however, this can definitely be read as a standalone. I didn't read the first 2 books and had no problem following along with the characters and storyline. This story is extremely hot and steamy and a really great M/M/F romance. The characters are all lovable and the connection between them is electric. King is a big hulk of a man but on the inside is soft like a teddy bear. He is loyal and tender with those he cares about. Sam is suffering from PTSD and is flawed in many ways but King stood by and supported him in any way he could. Jane---I thoroughly enjoyed her character! She is a strong, independent woman who is shy by nature. Her sense of humor is perfect and she was always shocked at what came out of her mouth when she got down and dirty with the boys.

Jacked up was funny, emotional and insanely sexy. I'm talking cold showers and smoking Kindles hot! It's a thoroughly enjoyable book that surprised me in many ways. Since this was my first Samantha Kane book, I'll definitely be going back to read the previous stories in this series as I was truly impressed with her writing and storytelling.

I'm surprised my screen did not melt or seamy up from all the heat in this book. WOW!!!!! This book was wild, fun and so creative! The sexual tension was so palpable between these characters and what an amazing story line. I didn't think the story line could get any better then I would go to the next chapter and bam some twist or turn or crazy action happen by the characters! This writer is so gifted to not only bring the heat but also an original story line. This book is a page turner and one you must dedicate an entire afternooon to read the whole book in one sitting because is no good place to stop, it is just that good! The ending is creative and crazy and just a perfect way to wrap up this cast of characters adventure in finding love.

This is another book from the Rebels series and it's a scorcher! Starting out you are pulled into King and Sam's best friend relationship and find an amazing strength in helping each other out. This is a wonderful tale of self discovery, "new normal", dealing with the limelight, and becoming yourself while loving others. It is a great read!

All I can say is WOW!

Jacked Up is the third book in the Birmingham Rebels series but you don’t need to have read the others (but you really should) to enjoy this one; all of the books can be read as standalones.

Samantha Kane has really turned up the heat in this story. The others were scorchers, too, but since I haven’t read them in a while this one really stands out as one of the hottest M/M/F stories I’ve read in quite some time.

Sam Taylor is a veteran of two tours in Afghanistan and now a player for the Birmingham Rebels. He suffers from PTSD but teammate and best friend King Ulupoka helps to keep him centered.

King Ulupoka wants to be more than Sam’s friend but he’s kept those feelings to himself. Sam hasn’t had sex with anyone since he was injured during his last deployment. King wants to help Sam get back in the game and find him the perfect woman.

Jane Foster is a good girl who always follows the rules until she meets Sam and King. They have one wonderful encounter that fulfills all of her sexual fantasies and lets her be a “bad girl” for just one night. She’s not afraid to let go of her inhibitions because they will never see each other again – or will they?

This is one of the hottest stories I’ve read in a while – and that’s something considering some of the stuff I read. <smile> If lots of hot, sweaty sex turns you off then this book isn’t for you. I’ve been a huge fan of Samantha Kane’s work since I found one of her historical M/M/F stories in my library’s digital catalogue. I promptly checked out as many of her books as I was allowed and didn’t stop reading until I finished them all. Her Brothers In Arms series will probably always be my favorite but the Birmingham Rebels series is a close second.

Jacked Up has just the right amount of angst. Jane can’t reconcile herself to how she acts when she’s with King and Sam. She’s so afraid of what people will think when they find out she’s with Sam AND King. When their relationship is brought to the attention of the media she runs away. King and Sam want Jane but they also want her to be happy; giving her time to come to terms with their relationship is one of the hardest things that either of them have had to do.

Don’t let the fact that the books are football related stories keep you from reading them. I’m not a football fan but that absolutely doesn’t matter. There’s almost no football jargon in the story – in fact the heroine, Jane, doesn’t know anything about football.

You might not want to read Jacked Up if you’re out in public. The people around you might wonder why your ereader is smoking.

This is the third book in the Birmingham Rebels series and it is as good and HOT as the others have been. I really enjoyed everything about this book and how it unfolded.

Sam Taylor is trying his best to re-acclimate to his life after serving two tours with the Army in Afghanistan but that's easier said than done. Not only has he not played football for years, but he hasn't been with a woman for years either. While that sounds like an easy problem to solve, Sam is also dealing with the emotional scars of being in war, not to mention the very real physical wounds that are healing as well.

King Ulupoka, Sam's best friend and fellow Rebel, wants to help his friend and get him laid. King takes Sam to Orange Beach to see if he can hook him up with a one-night stand, but the only way Sam will agree to it is if the burly Samoan stays in the room to watch. He wants to make sure his time in Afghanistan doesn't resurface and cause him to harm the woman.

When King and Sam meet Jane, an ER nurse who has always been nothing but a good girl, but is looking to be more bold and wild, they are both immediately taken with her. And on Jane's part, she's attracted to both men, but doesn't know who she would choose if she had to.

As Jane spends time with King and Sam, and things heat up between Sam and Jane, King is present as Sam requested and he's as turned on watching them as they are in the act. Will Jane push these two strong, both in will and body, men out of their comfort zones and make them realize that the three of them together might be much better together than any other alternative?

Samantha Kane treated us to a well constructed and told story, along with a lot of dirty talk and fun. This is a great series and while it helps to read them in order to understand some of the auxiliary characters, you can start with this book and not be lost in the least bit. If you're looking for a scorchingly hot read, I'd tell you to pick this one up!

FINAL DECISION: My favorite book of the series. This one has a developing relationship between three people who have never had a menage relationship before but find themselves falling in love with one another.

THE STORY: Sam Taylor and King Ulupoka are teammates on the Birmingham Rebels football team. Sam is a war veteran with PTSD and guilt from the death of his comrades and hasn't had sex with a woman since his return because he worries about his nightmares. King convinces Sam to break his celibacy and King agrees to stay in the room to make sure that Sam doesn't have an episode. The problem is finding a woman who would agree to such an arrangement. The two end up meeting Jane Foster, an ER nurse who has been the "good girl" all her life. When she meets Sam and King, she is attracted to both of them and decides to agree to their scheme to break her "good girl" mold. The night opens them all up to new possibilities.

OPINION: I really enjoyed this book. I really felt these three characters as they worked towards building a three way relationship. None of the characters had previously been in an menage relationship before and weren't looking for that when the book begins.

Each character has their own journey in the book as the trio winds their way towards a satisfying relationship. King is the most open to the idea of the menage. He is a big hearted friendly man. He is the most open sexually to the idea based on his past experiences. But even King has to work out the idea of what are the proper boundaries of a relationship with three participants.

Sam is quiet and closed in. He is trying to work through his issues and he finds that King and Jane balance him in different ways. While Sam has never had a relationship with a man, he begins to realize that his relationship with King is more than friendship. While Sam struggles with three problems (1) his PTSD and the fear that gives him for any relationship; (2) his attraction to King and (3) the menage.

Jane has her own struggles. She has classified herself as "good girl" and fears the idea of taking action that challenge that view of herself. Thus, even when she wants the menage relationship, she can't contemplate being involve with such a public relationship with these two famous men. She ends up being the catalyst in the relationship and brings all three players together.

I thought the baby steps that these characters have to take in defining what they want in their relationship was interesting and more realistic. There are many issues they have to navigate between them and I liked seeing them have to think about and address how the relationship is going to work. I thought this book addressed the complications well. The book could also be considered "beginners menage" and I liked seeing people work through the difficulties and complications.

WORTH MENTIONING: This is a true menage with MM, MMF and MF involved.

CONNECTED BOOKS: JACKED UP is the third book in the Birmingham Rebels series. This book can be read as a standalone but there are recurring characters.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in order to provide a review. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Loveswept for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I saw this book up and skimmed the description I thought it was another series I was reading. Nope, I was in for a shocker! I didn’t not like this book but didn’t love this book, if that makes sense. I honestly didn’t feel the connection between the all three of the main players. The female character keeps slut shaming herself which was annoying. Then she is hot and cold with Sam and King. One minute she is all game and then next she is a terrible person and can’t see them anymore. I wanted to break up with her for them. I completely understand this would be a hard relationship to be in and I couldn’t do it so I don’t want to down play her that.

Something else that I didn’t care for was the bedroom talk. Yep, it can be totally a turn on when done right. This just kind of had me laughing. If that was what you were going for then you nailed it.

What I did like. Sam and King. Sam is a hot mess! Suffers from PTSD and is insecure about himself in the relationship department. Yet, a total sweet heart. King is just what you would expect from his name. Outgoing and the life of the party. He has a huge heart and wants only the best for those he cares about. He’s a true protector and it’s evident on how he takes care of his family.

It was an ok read. It is MMF/MM
