This book is definitely in the erotica genre. It’s got a lot of sexy times.
I used to read a lot of BDSM books, but I haven’t read one in a couple years. I have to say they aren’t my favorite anymore. While this book had a story I wanted more story and a little less sex. I know, I know, that’s crazy talk!
I really liked watching Jensen open up and learn to be himself and love again!
Haley and Jensen were the perfect couple! They were made for each other!!
Now this is a book that left me craving more!!! Fantastic pacing and characters!!! I loved everything about it!!
I usually don't read BDSM books. This one was recommended by my blog partner so I thought I would give it a try.
Turns out it captivated me. The writing style was flawless with the perfect amount of BDSM. The characters showed me so much about love and strength. I will for sure be waiting for more in this series.

Great start to a new series. Club Luminous sounds like a cool place to play. Haley is new to the actual world of BDSM, but she's done her research and even talked with owner Master Dylan. He's agreed to help her find a Dom. He asks his friend and fellow Dom Jensen. Jensen hasn't had a sub in years since tragedy almost befell his last sub. Jensen agrees to meet her, and the rest is history. Of course there's drama with her ex-husband and a woman from his past who doesn't understand the word no. Lots of hot, hot sexy scenes. Loved Master Dylan and his slave, Gabby. Plus we get a glimpse at the next Dom Simon.
When I saw that Stacey Lynn, whose Fireside series I've been thoroughly enjoying, had written a BDSM novel, I knew I wanted to read it. Having been deeply disappointed by the lack of research and the banality of the 50 Shades series, I approached this novel with some trepidation, but am happy to report that Ms. Lynn did indeed do her homework, and this novel most definitely earned its 5-star rating.
First of all, Haley is quite an interesting character in that she's no shrinking violet. Her 5-year marriage to Timothy ended badly, and although much of the blame for its failure landed at the feet of her do-nothing slouch of an ex-husband, she realizes that part of the problem with the marriage was her secret desire to explore her kinky side, something her ex- wasn't into and something she's finally ready to pursue. She's done her research on-line and met a Master, Dylan, who is willing, she believes, to meet her at his sex club, Luminous, and train her as a submissive. Although she's afraid of the unknown, she shows up at the club, chats with Dylan and is shocked when Dylan introduces her to the man who will actually be her Dom, Jensen.
What Haley doesn't yet know is that Jensen hasn't set foot inside Luminous for two years, ever since his relationship with his then submissive, Courtney, ended very badly, and Jensen blames himself for what happened with and to her. Despite his reservations, something about Haley draws him in, and although part of him wants to stay out of the lifestyle for fear of another incident, he's aware that the vanilla world he's been living in for the past two years has left part of him unsatisfied and unfulfilled, and he reluctantly agrees to school Haley as his submissive, setting very strict boundaries on their relationship. It's not just her hard and soft limits they discuss, his very strict limits are also discussed, something I was both pleased and surprised to read.
These are characters with real depth, and with very believable backstories. Haley is a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants and is willing to go after it. She's unafraid of speaking up and challenging Jensen, who is also an intriguing character, strong, self-possessed, demanding and sexy, but the fact that this novel is written with alternating narration gives us a chance to see beneath his Dom persona to the heart of the man who was devastated by what happened with his last submissive and who is terrified of it happening again, when in so many other BDSM novels, almost always written from the submissive's perspective, we rarely get a chance to look deeply into the heart and motivations of the Dominant.
The pace of this novel was also spot-on, thankfully there was no insta-love involved. Jensen leads Haley into the Dom/sub relationship slowly and carefully as they explore not only her limits but his, as the relationship develops, changes and as they begin to bond as a couple. I loved that Ms. Lynn allowed Haley to explore her own submissive nature, while still allowing her to exhibit her inner core of strength, her emotional and sexual needs, and at the same time, allowed Jensen to examine his own motivations, his angst, his guilt, his intrinsic dominant nature and his own vulnerability.
Rather than just being just another run-of-the-mill BDSM novel, which the success of the 50 Shades series opened the door to an avalanche of, at it's heart, Dominate Me is a totally engaging love story, with fully realized main and secondary characters and yes, lots of explicit sex, but also scenes that explore the emotions behind the actions. I especially enjoyed the way these characters slowly began to understand and trust one another, aided by an excellent cast of secondary characters, both good and bad, to round out this well-written and deeply engrossing story.
Is this book for everyone? No, probably not. While I'm well aware that not everyone is into kink, if you've ever wondered about the lifestyle and why some people are drawn to it, this is a far better and truer exploration of how the lifestyle works, why people are curious and intrigued by it, and it does so far better than the aforementioned, utterly dreadful, 50 Shades series. Kudos to Ms. Lynn for delivering such an excellent read.
I requested an advance reader copy and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Holy freaking hotness. If you're looking for a erotic romance to knock your panties off, stop what you're doing. Dominate Me is the book you've been searching for. Wooziers!!
If that ditty isn't enough to tempt you, I should also mention that Dominate Me is an truly incredible book because there is so much more than the naughty bed room scenes. The two main characters, Haley and Jensen share an amazing love story. It's filled with charming, fun scenes as well as one that will leave you swooning.
As their relationship develops into more, they learn to trust themselves as well as each other. It's powerful and emotional story. As a reader, you get the best of all romance plotlines.
I just loved how the author balanced the kink with romance. It's a well written book that I would absolutely recommend everyone check out. Grab yourself a copy of Dominate Me today!!
I did enjoy this book. It was an interesting look into a BSDM relationship with a heroine who sought out the lifestyle. However, I did feel the ending was a bit abrupt.
I was introduced to Stacey Lynn through her Fireside Series, which I have really enjoyed. Dominate Me is pretty different from that so I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and give it a go. I'm so glad I did. Apparently I've been missing a well written Dom book because I devoured this one.
Haley is a recent divorcee who is independent and strong. She knows exactly what she wants and she goes after it. What she currently wants is to explore a dominate/submissive sexual experience. She has been researching it online and is reading to test the waters.
Jensen is a natural dominate who has been out of the lifestyle for the past two years. His past has kept him away and he has no intention to return. That is until a friend somehow convinces him to step back into Luminous, the club that he used to be a huge part of. While he has reservations, the desire of that part of his being forces him back and escorting the eager newbie, Haley. Will he be able to show her around and go back to his normal life or will the pull of both Haley and that lifestyle be too much?
What I liked about this book was the pull between Haley and Jensen. They were super attacked to each from the start. Both struggled to maintain some sort of seperation between real life and their fantasies of the lifestyle but it was obvious from the beginning that they were made for each other.
This book is HOT and I couldn't get enough of it. I thought it had the perfect balance of dom/sub fantasies vs lifestyle. Both Haley and Jensen are extremely likable and you can't help but root for them from the stat.
Overall, I enjoyed this steamy book. If you are looking for a sexy, good time with some sprinkled in humor, dirty mouths and an overall love story, then this is the book for you. Well done Stacey, I can't wait to read more from you!
Haley, newly divorced, has had sexual cravings she's hidden for years. She's done the research, asked the questions, and now she believes she's ready to give submission a try. After contacting a Dom on a chat site, she sets up a meeting at a BDSM club, Luminous, for a tour. Dylan is the one giving her a tour and he feels she would be perfect for his friend, Jensen, so he invites him to the club to take a look himself.
Jensen hasn't trained a sub in a couple of years since his last relationship went awfully wrong. Dylan pushes him to get back in the lifestyle and believes Haley is the right sub for him. He's reluctant, but when Jensen meets her, he knows he can't walk away. He tries to set strict Dom/sub rules but quickly, he finds himself breaking those very rules.
When the lines of their relationship start to blur, both are confused. The feelings are real but are they too soon?? Some assumptions are made and feelings do get hurt. Can they find a way to be who they truly are with each other?? Or is it too much to handle??
This is the first book by Stacey Lynn and I loved it! The story kept pace perfectly and never left me waiting for something to happen! I loved the chemistry that Haley and Jensen had from the start and as Haley learns, the intensity ratchets up! There are scenes of light BDSM-nothing too out there-exactly what you would expect of someone new to the lifestyle. It's red-hot chemistry with a little kink thrown in!
Dominate Me is the first book in Stacey Lynn's Luminous series and it's a must read! Haley and Jensen's romance is sweet and sizzling, passionate and vulnerable. Pure yumminess! I look forward to the next books to see what's going on in Luminous's private rooms! Plus a little check-up on what's up with these two!

Haley and Jensen never worked for me as a couple. I liked them separately, but together I didn't really think they had enough of a connection to ever be anything lasting. I like books in this world... But if I don't believe there is an attachment between the characters, it's hard for me to invest in the relationship and believe in it... Especially as he is master.
This was a fast paced read with lots of drama and chemistry. The characters are both interesting and both Jenson and Haley have a lot of baggage. I like the story and the sex is off the charts hot!
I loved this story, it was well-paced with engaging and captivating characters. Although BDSM stories are a bit passé in my opinion, this book was well worth reading. It had the right balance between sensuality and genuine tenderness. The development of the main characters’ relationship is the focal point of this story. The sexy scenes were scorching hot and the intense chemistry between them was palpable.
Haley is recently divorced. She wants to turn the page of her failed marriage and explore a lifestyle she always been curious about : she wants to find someone she can submit to. Jensen Rhodes was a dominant but has left the lifestyle after a traumatic experience with his last submissive. For years, he has suppressed this side of himself. Haley and Jensen are introduced by Jensen’s friend Dylan. Seeing Haley for the first time completely undoes him and he surrenders to his need to have her. Haley is intimidated but also determined, she wants to explore her boundaries with Jensen.
She feels comfortable with him, he is confident, tender, caring and yet enigmatic. She trusts him on a profound level, he pulls something from her she has never felt before. Jensen is attracted to her, but wants to maintain his control over the evolution of their relationship. He is conflicted, he doesn’t succeed in keeping the lines drawn, and they both want more than a D/s relationship. Their meetings start feeling like dates and they are unable to keep their heart out of the equation. Jensen is everything Haley wanted in a boyfriend, he is a tender lover, caring and amusing. Are they both ready to take a risk and give their love a chance?
This book is the first in the author’s new series “Luminous”. This book is a sweet, racy and swoony read that grabs you from the first page and takes you on a journey to the characters’ happily ever after. I definitely recommend it!
An advanced copy of this book was provided by the publisher, via NetGalley.
I have always enjoyed Stacey Lynn's writing. Her stories are engaging and her characters sure know how to turn up the heat. So I was pleasantly surprised to see her writing a BDSM book. Let's be honest. If you are a romance reader and enjoy reading BDSM romances, then you have probably read just about every angle of the genre and maybe even gotten a little bored and jaded by it. This book, however, brings the subject a little closer to home. To anyone who has felt that there was something missing in their relationship, a little spark that just seemed to be out of their reach, well maybe that spark just could be living out their fantasy, their kink and letting go of all their inhabitions.
Haley Portsmouth recently divorced her husband. Even though she wanted to make things work and truly believed that she could have her fairytale marriage, she soon realized that her husband was just a man child who never had any intention of making her happy or even making the effort to be a real husband to her. Little by little Haley saw his true face and felt that for her to be truely happy and satisfied she needed to divorce her husband and find a dominant to satisfy her sexually submissive nature. She meets Master Dylan online. An experienced dominant who also happens to own Luminous, a BDSM club. He tells her that he knows just the Dom for her and invites her to meet him at his club. This is the moment that Haley has been waiting for her whole life , but will reality truly live up to her fantasies?
Jensen Rhodes has been trying to curb his Dominant side ever since his last Sub tried to commit sucide. He has been blaming himself for not seeing the signs and has been trying to live a "normal" and vanilla life. But when his mentor and friend Dylan tells him that he has found the perfect Sub for him he can't help but be intrigued. Even though the last thing he wants is to entangle himself in another Dom- Sub relationship he can't keep his eyes of the striking woman whom he sees in Luminous. Maybe it's the dormant Dom in him, or maybe it is the woman, but there is nothing he wants more than to dominate her and make her his.
Jensen sure knows how to dominate and will have you wanting to submit to him with pleasure. A hot and emotional read. Sure hope that Lynn will turn this book into a series and we will enjoy many more BDSM books with hot and mesmerizing Doms ;)
This was a great read from Stacey Lynn, I am a huge fan of her FIRESIDE SERIES, as with that series this story had an emotional punch but it superseded my expectations with the chemistry between Haley & Jensen, they needed one another more than either of them knew.
Haley is recently divorced and is looking into exploring her kinkier side so she has a meeting set up with the owner of "Luminous," a sex club, in the hopes of finding what her body truly desires...submission.
Jensen has been out of the scene for two years following an extremely emotional event that has left him second guessing his dominant tendencies. That being said, once he is introduced to Haley he is determined to teach her everything she needs to learn without getting emotionally or romantically involved with her.
The chemistry is there right from the start but there are things that hold each of them back from exploring what they truly desire, a relationship.
There are a lot of ups and downs in this story, but the ride was well worth the price of admission.
Whenever I read a Stacey Lynn novel, I know the story will have heat and heart. I was completely taken with Haley and Jensen and found their story to be so sexy, steamy, and romantic. I was immediately swept away by their story and was consumed with the intensity of their connection.
Like most BDSM novels, reader can expect plenty of steam but in addition to that, there is an intense emotional connection between the hero and the heroine. Ms. Lynn successfully differentiates herself in this genre from her peers by highlighting the vulnerability of the Dom and the effects his residual baggage has on their relationship. Jensen had his own issues and challenges he needed to work through within himself in order to ultimately scale the emotional walls that Haley had from her own past.
I have become quite enthralled with this author's Fireside series and now am equally a huge fan of her Luminous series. I look forward to reading more from her in the future. 4 stars!
I would like to thank NetGalley and Carina Press for an advanced copy of this novel for a fair review.
**4 stars** This was a first for me by Stacey Lynn and it didn't disappoint. The blurb drew me in for story and I'm so glad that it did. There was something about Haley and Jensen that was pure magic to read. After a failed marriage Haley decides to explore her inner urges with the BDSM when she finds Luminous. What she wasn't prepared for was to find Jensen. She didn't mean to fall for him, she wasn't even planning on it. But the spark between them was just way too strong, but is a spark enough to keep them together or will they only have a Dom/Sub relationship? Jensen swore he'd never go back to Luminous let alone be someone's Dom again. But when his friend tells him he found him he perfect sub, he couldn't help but be intrigued. I couldn't help but love Jensen. He didn't have a great experience with his last sub and it ruined him. But watching him with Hayley was fun. I enjoyed every word of this story. I can't wait for more by Stacey!
WOW! This book was definetly a great read! I liked it a lot!
Holy Hotness! Great late night read ; )
Beyond all the hotness and awesome sexual chemistry- and taking it the chem lab- Haley and Jensen had a strong bond which created more than the dom/sub relationship.
Haley Portsmouth is a free woman that is ready to explore the world of BDSM, a world she knows virtually nothing about, and that is part of the intrigue, but she also wants to know what it feels like to be pushed to her limit. It's something she has longed to experience and she thinks the Luminous club might just be the perfect place to live out her every desire, and once she is there she instantly knows she is where she belongs...
Jensen Rhodes is well versed in dominance, and knows just how to give a woman exactly what she wants, push her to her limits, and leave her completely satisfied. The minute he lays eyes on Haley he knows he has to have her, he can sense her innocence, see the curiosity written all over her face, and he wants to be the man to teach her everything she yearns to learn. And the minute he gets the beautiful temptress under him, he knows he never wants to let her slip away...
Once again Ms. Lynn has created a gem of a story that pulled me in from the first sentence and had me immediately submersed into a world of complete erotic literary bliss!! This tantalizing little page turner drew me in, had me addicted in a matter of minutes, and I knew there was no way I was coming up for air until I had devoured every luscious little morsel... and it was SO damn gooood! The chemistry between these two was packed with so much intensity that at times I swear I could literary feel the sparks arcing between them, and the anticipation lingering before every encounter had me breathless and on the verge of combustion... and certain that nobody does sexy quite like Ms. Lynn!! Loved every minute of this one, it was HOT! HOT! HOT!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
