I don't know what made me sign up to read a book about two recovering addicts but here we are. This was full of all sorts of drama and angst and that made it a fast paced story. The romance felt secondary so this reads more like women's fiction than romance with a bit more heaviness than I usually encounter in the genre.
I enjoyed this book. It was definitely not your typical romance. There were a lot of heavier elements, but they worked. I kind of wish that the physical connection between the two main characters would have been explored a little sooner in the book. It took a bit to get into, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
While I found this to be well-written and interesting, I just didn't feel this book was for me and was unable to finish.
Danny was thinking of Mickee his dog and making sure he got picked up from the kennel he had been in while the movie was made. Robert had argued with Danny about the movie but Danny wouldn’t be swayed. Danny was successful in the role. Robert was Danny's publisher and he was great at his job but Danny didn’t like how nosy Robert could be. Danny needed a cab there were two but the girl with the violet eyes grabbed the door but Danny took the door from her she took a can of soda and sprayed Danny and the cab seat. The girl was arrested and Robert told Danny to get out of there. But Danny told his bodyguard Kevor to find out who the girl was and where she lived. Marnie was released and went to her meeting she had to talk to Sybil who was her sponsor but Sybil wasn’t at the meeting. She couldn’t lose Sybil as Sybil was her lifeline. Marnie wasn’t gay and didn’t know Sybil was and had innocently kissed Sybil on the cheek. Danny was an addict who had been a player. And ruined lives with his self centerness. But Danny is trying to redeem himself and make amends to a young woman he had once abandoned.Marnie is a recovering addict but looking for love. Danny offers Marnie a job as his personal assistant and she accepts. Danny struggles with his addiction and enabling behavior. But Danny was trying to start a different kind of relationship. Danny is famous and rich but that doesn't change his addiction. Marnie is trying to deal with her past and stay off the streets and looking for men to earn money. Then Danny finds he wants Marnie and she wants him but…..
I just couldn’t get into this story I tried but it just wasn’t realistic to me Marnie would stay away from Danny if he was still using that is one of the biggest rules to easy to get pulled back in. I just tried a couple times and didn’t hold my interest. I was disappointed in this story.
The Prince's Plan is a moving, gritty tale of addiction and battling and winning out over addiction. Marnie in particular has had a really rough life. In the beginning of the book she's newly sober and working with a support group to maintain her sobriety. She meets Danny outside a diner and she somehow ends up being thrown into the back of a police vehicle and taken away. Sufficed to say, their first meeting did not go well for the 2. But, Danny finds her and offers her a deal: become his PA, stay with him, and stay sober.
It may sound like a heaven sent plan, and that Danny's a prince, but in reality, Danny was doing it for not so noble reasons. What happens between the two as they live and work together is a long, drawn out story of them battling their demons, their addictions, and finally, toward the end, falling in love. If you are looking for a flowers and candy kind of romance, or even a romance at all, then The Prince's Plan is not for you. It's not sweet, it's not pretty and it's not even really a romance. It's dark, it's raw and it's brutal. If you would prefer your reading with a dark bent, with actual realistic, human actions and reactions, then The Prince's Plan should definitely be on your TBR list.
This book was wonderful..it impacted the journey for two people Danny and Marnie from being addicted to substance abuse. They both were running from the past instead of accepting it and dealing with the present. They helped each other along the way, and when something off the wall and deadly happened that's when they both realized life was too short. When everything and everyone thought they couldn't make it the stubbornness won.

When I requested to read this book, I found the synopsis interesting. But as I started to read I found the book kind of...odd. The first thing I didn't like was that it was third person pov. Not my cup of tea. Then as I started reading, I just could not get into the book. I wasn't connecting with the characters...at all. I just didn't like them. I'm OK with reading about addiction, but these two characters were just really hard to like.
So since the book was taking me such a long time to get into, the fact that the book was nearly 500 pages just made me blanch. The last thing I wanted to do was spend a week or more of reading time, forcing myself through a book that I just couldn't enjoy. Maybe, had I had more patience, I could have continued on and maybe gotten into it, but I just needed to move on.
