I was so excited when this popped up on Netgalley, what an amazing excuse to start reading more of Tessa Baileys Backlist! This book was everything I had never experienced! M/M romance was something I had not explored, but just like all of Tessa's other books, she delivered! 100 on the spice, and the story line also delivered! Definitely made me want to go and read this entire series!
Disclaimer: Please be aware that this is the fourth and final book in the Made in Jersey series. I highly recommend reading them in order. I didn't realize that to be the case when I asked for and was approved for, this book on NetGalley. That said this book has all the steam. It is a M/M which works so well in the settings of the story. So many reviews on Goodreads show gifs and pictures of would-be-characters and I scrolled through every one of them just for fun. I really really liked Renner's dirty talk. If I like the 4th book this much I can only hope the other three are just as good.
Exactly what I needed !!!
A romance with spice and characters that , as always will stay with me, for good and for bad.
The title itself sounded promising than promising and honestly ... the author delivered !I'm glad I had the chance to read the book !!
And thank you to the publisher and the author for sharing this story with me!
This is a throw back to the novels that I enjoy. Sexy, easily digestible and fast reads. Tessa Bailey is the queen of sexy, dirty talk and it was definitely not lacking here! Whew!
The "deal" trope, but add in workplace, and have Tessa Bailey write it? Obviously this was going to be incredible.
What I loved:
- This could have easily been a billionaire trope-y mess of cringe, Renner is Milo's boss, Milo is an average wage earner, while Milo is clearly a 1%, however that never comes up. They appear as equals throughout the entire story and treat each other as such. All power dynamics are in place because they consented to them, not based on status in society, and what's better than consent in our romance novels?
- Age. Renner is 33, Milo is slightly younger. They have lived experience. They are old enough to realistically have their jobs (Renner might be a little young, but its possible). Where they are at in life and how they act makes sense for their age and they make sense together.
- The entire Deal/Agreement set up. So much room for misunderstanding and pining. The story gets to have spicy scenes while still being a slow burn. I loved Elle Kennedy's The Deal, same idea but older characters. Yes. I am here for it.
- Grumpy / Sunshine!!
What I didn't like:
...I feel like I was missing some background in the beginning which is completely my own fault for jumping into book 4 in a series. That's it. My only complaint is at myself.
This book was the completion to the series I didn't know I needed. Tessa Bailey writes MM romance so well it blows me away.
I love the ultra possessiveness of both MCs but within that, the hidden love and utter devotion to their friends, family and each other.
I couldn't have read a better book and while it can be read as a standalone, it does better as part of the series!
Tessa bailey never misses. This was my first m/m romance and it was short and good. I'm looking forward to reading her future work!
This was a fun short spicy romance. It’s not my favorite Tessa Bailey book, but I still enjoyed it. I can’t wait to read more of her backlist.
Tessa Bailey’s first m/m romance is a win! Milo and Renner are both stubborn, big alpha’s, with smokin hot attraction to each other. Wish there had been more of a plot, but it was still a satisfying ending to this series.
ARC provided by NetGalley.
3.5 stars
How did I not know this was a M/M book? Maybe because I just got it because Tessa Bailey wrote it. I will read anything she writes... so this was not a normal read for me. I am not a big m/m reader. That being said, this was a good story about 2 people who meet and fall in love. There was some hot scenes in there too. Like I said, not a normal read for me, but I still enjoyed it!
It takes courage to give of oneself so deeply to another. If these two souls can connect perhaps they will discover a love pure, with heat and without hesitation. This M/M romance is intense, full of spice and will reinforce the notion that one needs to be honest to themselves before they can find love..

Wound Tight is the fourth book in the Made in Jersey series from Tessa Bailey. This book is a standalone story and I was really excited to read this one! Tessa is known for being the queen of dirty talk, so I couldn't wait to see her take on her first M/M story. She didn't disappoint, and I enjoyed this one a lot.
Renner is a CEO that doesn't let anyone get close to him. Yet he can't help the attraction he feels to security guard Milo. Milo has never been with a man before, yet he finds himself drawn to Renner. Knowing that Renner would never be interested in him with his lack of experience, Milo sets out to get the experience he needs with someone else. But when Renner offers him lessons in seduction, neither of them have any idea just where those lessons will take them.
I liked both Renner and Milo. They had such strong chemistry right away, and I enjoyed seeing them circle around one another. Things didn't start off easy for these two, but I loved the tension and couldn't get enough of them. While Renner came off as a grumpy jerk, he had a softer side that was nice to see. He was sexy and confidant which I loved, but I really enjoyed seeing how he was with Milo as their relationship progressed. Milo might have been new to men, but he wasn't a pushover and that was exactly what Renner needed. These two had some really great moments that kept me emotionally invested in between the super hot scenes that I couldn't get enough of!
I will say that I had a few things that kept me from loving this book fully. I felt like Milo's transition from only being with women to being so open about being gay was very sudden and a bit too unrealistic. I didn't feel as though it was 100% genuine since he had never really questioned his sexuality before. Having only been into women, it felt like while his attraction to Renner was natural the way he approached it wasn't. I also had some issues with the epilogue here. It was disappointing and I felt like it left the story on a bit of an unsatisfying note. I did really like these guys together though, and Tessa continues to write super sexy stories with fantastic dirty talk. I enjoyed her first foray into M/M and look forward to seeing what she writes in the future.
Ah, Tessa Bailey. You never let me down. I swear your romances are made of gold. They just outshine so much of what is on the romance market. Wound Tight is no different. This is Tessa Bailey’s first m/m romance and it proves to be pretty darn perfect.
Renner is seen as the uptight, closed-off factory owner to most of the residents of Hook, New Jersey. He isn’t seen as approachable, that’s for sure. Except for one person. Milo Bautista is not at all afraid of Renner. In fact, he seems to have a certain affinity for Renner. And Renner, well he cannot keep his eyes off of Milo.
Milo is just starting to recognize his feelings for men but he never believes that Renner could ever reciprocate his feelings. To say he is wrong is putting it lightly. Renner is interested. Majorly interested. But he doesn’t believe he is worthy of Milo. And that is a mistake on Renner’s part.
This romance is just sizzling. I know that is kind of an overused term when it comes to romance books but it is the truth in this case. Renner and Milo just sizzle together. Every time they are on the same page (which fortunately, is most of the book!) they just connect. It is visceral and moving because both men have hang-ups that make them believe they are not lovable.
Though Milo worries that the differences in lifestyle will drive them apart, and to an extent, it is a hang-up, Renner is quick to prove that he doesn’t give a damn whether Milo is rich or poor. He just wants him. Renner (though he won’t admit it) loves how Milo takes care of him. Renner has a heart issue and Milo is quick to make sure that Renner takes his medicine. I found their give and take in helping each other to be very sweet and yep, you called it, sexy.
There is a scene in the epilogue that really just blows me away in showing how much these two have come to mean to each other. It is incredibly hot but also just purely romantic. These two connect and hate being away from each other. They are soul mates in my mind. They found the person that completes them and neither Renner or Milo has any attention of letting go. Tessa Bailey wows with Wound Tight. This is a book that will stay with you long after its over. That is the kind of impact that Milo and Renner have on each other and frankly, have on the reader (at least this reader). Wound Tight is available now. If you’ve never read a m/m love story, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. And the great thing is, you don’t even have to have read the first three books in the Made in Jersey series (though they are pretty darn terrific too).
Set some time aside during your day and dig into Wound Tight. You won’t regret it.

It's no secret we are pretty big fans of m/m romance here on the blog. I'm also a pretty big fan of Tessa Bailey, so imagine my elation to mix the two! Wound Tight is Tessa's first foray into the world of m/m and she hit it out of the park with her trademark scorching romance. We met Renner in the earlier Made in Jersey books and he's the asshole suit who comes in to buy the factory that pretty much keeps the small town employed. It's always a feat to take a character that was disliked in a series and make you love and relate to them in their own book.
That's exactly what Tessa does. In Wound Tight, we find out why Renner is, well, wound so tight. Why he's such an asshole. We come to love and root for him and Milo, even when we want to shake some sense into both of them. And then Tessa's signature dirty talk and alpha men will melt the cover right off your tablet.
If you are a m/m fan, a Tessa Bailey fan, or just a fan of steamy romance, then Wound Tight is for you. And when you're done obsessing over these two beautiful men, go read Tessa's backlist.
Wow! Tessa Bailey writing a M/M romance = perfection! I loved this book! If you're new to M/M romance, I think this is the perfect book to get started with. I'm really hoping there are going to be more Tessa Bailey books in this genre in the future because this was hot!
I absolutely loved this book. Tessa's books are always hot, but this one was SMOKING. Renner and Milo are officially my favorite Tessa couple (which says a lot, since I"ve been a Matt & Lucy fan from the beginning. :)
There was a hint of this relationship to come in the last book in this series, Worked Up, but it did not prepare me for the emotional, passionate, and simply wonderful story contained in Wound Tight. Two men; one an uptight white collar professional and the other an easygoing blue collar man who works for the first, it has disaster written all over it but in reality there was more foreplay and fun than tears and angst and I found it impossible to put down.
From the moment he bought and reorganized the factory in Red Hook, Renner Bastion hasn’t been the area’s favorite person. Determined to keep everyone working and happy, Renner has been working himself to death and he had the heart attack and blood pressure medication to prove it. Renner is a workaholic who is determined to get everything he wants; unfortunately the man he wants isn’t someone he can have. Not only is Milo Bautista part of his security team, he is 7 years younger and heterosexual or so Renner believes.
I loved that both Renner and Milo had been checking each other out since Milo came to work for him at the factory and while Renner had some strict policies about his dating life, Milo was just trying to figure out his sexuality. Both were very in tune to one another with Milo trying to keep Renner safe and healthy and Renner inordinately interested in every little thing regarding Milo. Their verbal sparring was laced with humor and while at times antagonistic; it served as foreplay for these two men. Through a very strange bargain, Renner agreed to let Milo help him de-stress his life and in exchange he would help Milo be more comfortable and self assured in his sexuality. There’s a bit on a monkey wrench in their situation which causes a few misunderstandings and a bit of strife and Renner has some baggage which makes him skeptical of anything lasting, and bless Milo’s heart he refuses to let Renner hide or not accept at the very least his friendship. Milo was an absolute joy of a character; open, fun loving, full of life and so caring and with Renner’s help he did become more accepting of his sexuality and confident in all aspects of his life. Renner was very closed off and honestly seemed a bit miserable in his life, but Milo helped him to see that he was worthy of admiration, he was a good person and more than that he deserved to have someone in his life that cared for him.
Let me just say that these two do some heavy duty exploring of one another and each encounter is hotter than the last. Renner’s “boss man” attitude is not contained to the boardroom and Milo finds he rather enjoys giving himself over to Renner.
Wound Tight was an exceptional gay romance; one that made me laugh out loud, made me squirm with the hotness between these two men, made me shed a tear or two, but most of all left me with an overwhelming since of rightness and joy. Thank you Tessa!
