A series of earthquakes hit multiple sites around the Earth. The Kindred started to appear and steal powers from super heroes. Then a space attack hits Gotham and the rest of the world. Cyborg manages to identify devices in the Earth destabilizing the Earth's crust. Superman set out to destroy these spheres, Aquaman played with singing crystals, while Green Lanterns sought out the source of the space assault. But will these actions be enough to save the planet or will the Extinction Machines win out?
I can not tell you exactly why, but I did not feel a need to finish this book. It’s like it starts in the middle of the story. Plus the multiple supermen, etc. just not my thing. I will look the heroes in their own stories, just not as Justice league.

The world is coming to an end but Justice League is there to save it. And so is Superman!
I would expect better art, but again, not so much experienced in the comic section.
All in all, good storyline, great heroes and a few more to join!
At last a decent trade from one of the post-Rebirth titles. This one might be a little silly (especially with Aquaman talking to himself/us about magic crystals) and it doesn't end with as much as an explanation other than what was obvious from the second and third episodes, but at last it has the grandeur a launch arc should have. The artwork tries to show us something new (and pretty much succeeds), and the script is superior to other books in this first wave – especially as it gets us up to speed with the difference in Superman and gets on with it, without waffling on about his being a family man. It's not perfect, but it's a darned sight better than the latest trades.
Well, I thought the art was good throughout the whole novel and the dialog wasn't bad, either. That's at least 50% of a graphic novel, and so I can give it 1 additional star for that.
However, the actual plot of this novel was awful. I did not like it at all. Nobody was doing any interesting fighting or solving interesting problems. Superman and Aquaman in particular have the worst plot points in defeating the enemy, but then again I don't think Wonder Woman, Batman, or the Green Lanterns did anything. As for Cyborg, yes, he did help, but it was through sudden convenience and not really anything insightful or creative. I'm also not really sure exactly what the bad guy(s) in this novel planned to do, other than using human bodies for something. They kinda were going to blow up the world, but the Kindred seem to be some sort of mystical spirit and it was just confusing as to the whole point of it. I like villains with some depth, you know? Not just evil magical beings that want to destroy things.
Unfortunately I don't think the Kindred are quite through yet given the ending, so I don't think I will continue this series.
I received a free eARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book gets right to it. Squid looking things are attacking the citizens of the world and enslaving them. The League is doing what they can to stop this but something is not only holding them back but steeling their powers. The purge is coming right before the Awakening. Flash looses his speed and the Lanterns loose their light. Those people under the control of these alien things chant that their power was stolen by the Justice League and they are taking it back.
The team is a little different than where we left it in New 52. The staples are there, Batman, Wonder Woman, Barry Allen is the Flash and Aquaman are the heavy hitters. Cyborg is taking a bigger roll in this team but we have two new Green Lanterns and a New Superman. You read that right, a new Superman. Lantern Baz was around in New 52 so he has some miles on him but Jessica is new to the corp and she is still having issues with her confidence. If you haven't read up to this point in the Superman book and care to still be surprised then I suggest stopping here. I didn't read Superman until right before Rebirth so I know that Superman dies. He is killed by Kryptonian cancer, basically. During the last days of Superman's Life Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman stumble across a Clark Kent, Lois Lane and young Jonathan Kent from another Earth hiding from the world.
Now with the world crumbling, literally, and the universe possibly being destroyed the team needs to turn to this unlikely Superman to help them save the world. Clark has to decide if he wants to remain hidden with his family or be apart of something greater.
I've got to admit, this was fun to read and I flew through it. I have to thank DC Comics and Net Galley for allowing me to read this for a review. I continue to be blown away by the books I read after Rebirth. I love my favorite heroes getting back to their roots and seeing some of the things I didn't care for in New 52 corrected. I can't wait to see where volume 2 takes us and look forward to its release. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I also have to say that I love seeing all of these heroes working together. There are some great covers in the series and the variant cover gallery in the graphic novel.
