Jax is the second son of a politician, the family black sheep he has piercings and tattoos and owns his own tattoo shop. He has been in love with his best friend Candice his entire life but after they had a spectacular one-night stand he panicked, she moved away and they haven't seen each other for three years or more. Since then, despite being in love with Candice, the ever-charming Jax has been having random sex with women he picks up and drops immediately afterwards (classy).

When Jax and Candice meet up again one day he is surprised to see that she has a three year old little sister (really?????) but they start up a friends with benefits arrangement on the side. Meanwhile the two of them appear to be picking up every homeless waif and stray in Sydney - because Jax really has a heart of gold (bluergh).

What will happen next? I'll give you two guesses ...

Sorry, this seemed to be one sad old NA/YA cliche after another. I found Jax to be a judgemental arse and Candice was a doormat - I couldn't bear the misogynist crap any longer. Jax couldn't get a clue if it hit him in the face and despite his pathetic self-centred tantrums Candice still thinks everything is her fault.

If you are addicted to secret baby YA novels with characters who drink Jack Daniels neat, have tattoos and have sex with multiple strangers they pick up in clubs, throw toddler tantrums and blame others for everything (because they are 'alpha males') then this is for you. I'm tired of this kind of book.
