This is a book about a tiger who constantly loses his temper. When he is asked to do something he has a tantrum and loses his temper. One day, his mom has had enough. A little too late if you ask me. She tells him that he must control his temper, "or else". Tiger tries to figure out what the "or else" might be. He decides that he needs to figure out how to do this and yells all his angers out into his hat. Mother is happy. A little to simplistic for me. There are not ideas for how to control your temper, what to do when you get angry etc. This book had some promise, then just petered out.

“Hold Your Temper, Tiger” teaches a good lesson to kids without being condescending or preachy.

A play on words, this short, engaging story for toddlers and the Pre-K set teaches a important lesson about appropriate behavior. Tiger wants to stomp and scream but his mama gives a stern warning . . . don't do it "or else." Whimsical, colorful, childlike (but well done) illustrations accompany the text. In the end, Tiger finds a way to hold his temper, of course.

I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
This is a book about a tiger who has a bad temper. His mom tells him that he must control his temper, "or else". Not a fan of the "or else" because that means a lot of different things for a lot of different kids. The pictures and bright colors are nice.

Little Tiger has a temper. He strops and screams and throws tantrums left right and centre. A typical kid ( or rather cub in his case ) basically. This is the story of him learning how to stop losing his temper after his mom issues an ultimatum.

This is a colourful and charming story aimed at preschool aged children. That been said my daughter who is five enjoyed reading it.....although the message about not losing her temper was missed/ignored! It's a nice story that would make a great bedtime story for any young child.

This book is about managing your anger. It's a very colorful book and good for young children, but it lacks substance. I thought it needed more than just "hold your temper, or else." Surely it's upsetting to others when you lose your temper, but the message was just too simple. I do think it's still worth a read as it's a cute story.

I think this book is quite good. My daughter really enjoyed it. We're currently trying to teach her how to express her feelings without stomping and yelling, so I'm glad we found this book.

I am sure many of us have run into a child who has a bit of a temper, especially when they are faced with the prospect of doing something they don’t want to do. I have most certainly, and this book would have been a clever way to make kids think before throwing a fit. Tiger is frustrated with his mom telling him what to do and mom is frustrated with Tiger not listening. Mom is so frustrated in fact that she gives him the ultimate ultimatum… “Or Else!” Tiger does not know what “or else” means so he decides he better hold his temper. The best part of the book is when Tiger is trying to decide where to hold his temper. He finally decides to literally keep it under his hat.

This book is cute but it also offers a real life way to deal with anger for kids. The way Tiger makes his anger tangible helps him to understand how to deal with it, making himself feel better in the end. I recommend this book to teachers and parents with young readers. It would also be a good book for a library story time for young readers.

Little Tiger throws temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way. One day his mother has had enough! She tells him, "You had better hold your temper, Tiger, .... or else!" He realizes that he might need to change his ways, because "or else" could mean losing his favorite things. But first he has some things to figure out--how do you "hold" a temper and where should he put his? A silly story about learning to control anger that's sure to make kids giggle!

Not convinced that this will be much help. The mother's approach to her child's temper is far from therapeutic. The reason tiger controls his temper is very negative.

I am an adult, I promise you, though it seems I'm reaching for quite a few children's books lately. It's interesting that I'm picking up so many. To be honest, I don't remember them being this . . . thoughtful as a child. There were no premmie babies, awesome mulitcultural families, or discussions about being a better person - which is where this book comes in.

Tiger has a temper, and screams and stomps and cries when he doesn't get his own way. This seems to be the modus operandi for any one between the ages of 0 - 99+. One size fits all. Tiger's mum tells him to hold his temper, or else. Or else what? Who knows. If it was the 1980s, I could hazard a guess at the answer, but who knows now.

It's at this point that Tiger decides he needs to mind his temper - and does so, though I think it might have been nice to explain his mother's side of the issue. After all, aren't we trying to explain to kids how their actions affect others, and not just teaching them to do what they're told regardless?
