This bilingual, lift-the-flap board book is adorable!
I particularly like the way Susie Jaramillo has crafted the rhymes so that they rhyme in both English and Spanish.
Super cute book; toddlers will love this!
I picked up this book when I was studying Spanish - with the aim of using it as a distraction from verb tables! It's a fun book for children and has lovely artwork.
These rhyming/song books always draw the attention of toddlers. They can’t read and some of them can’t even speak but the like the tunes and they like to repeat the few words they can semi understand.
A minor twist from the rhyme you remember as a child, still makes this book worthy of picking up for lil’ babies and toddlers learning that books are our friends.

I didn't request this book, so I never had a chance to read it. I'm not sure why it is on my shelf.
Susie Jaramillo's Elefantitos is a bilingual counting board book based on the folk song "Elefantitos".
It is in English and then in Spanish, with brightly colored numbers and elephants balancing on a spider's thread. The board book has little tabs to make the elephants move; unfortunately, I had the digital version to look at with my children and couldn't make the display change.
There isn't any indication of how the song should be sung, which would be more problematic for those of us that didn't grow up learning it. It's still a cute little poem for young children, especially if they like elephants.
Canticos: Elefantitos and Little Elephants, by Susie Jaramillo is a bilingual board book, which provides a fun way for children to learn English and Spanish.
Within ten pages, this book features adorable illustrations accompanying a story about elephants and counting to five, which is considered to be based on a traditional Mexican counting song.
Little Elephants is an enjoyable easy-to-read board book, and it's geared toward young children, particularly ages two to four, yet it's recommended for all children.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Great book for bi-lingual families based on a traditional Mexican counting song. I love that both Spanish and English versions were included in the text for easy repetition and understanding. Illustrations were complimentary to the text.
Simple, adorable illustrations - good for emergent counters.
A cute, very short read. Adding one at a time to their number, until there are five of them, the little elephants balance on the web of a spider--that is until the spider comes along. Oops! A separate (not concurrent) Spanish translation of the same story follows the English version. Toddlers may find this engaging.
Since my son is in a dual language school, I'm always excited to find books that feature text in both English and Spanish. While the illustrations here are absolutely adorable, it's just one rhyme, repeated five times. I understand that kids like and need repetition, but it just wasn't that interesting, even with the cute pictures of balancing elephants.
Canticos:Elefantitos/Little Elephants by Susie Jaramillo
This a a cute little board book that could be used to help engage your child in counting to five with its simple and repetitive prose. It also has the added bonus of having the same exact story on the opposite side in Spanish language. Early exposure to different languages has been proven to encourage quick learning for our children. I read both stories to my children, multiple times by their request. Even though they didn't understand the Spanish words, they listened intently and asked questions afterward. They responded with giggles to the pictures on the elephants on the spider’s web and the break of the web at the end of the story. This book is short but sweet! Great for younger children with short attention spans!!!
This book was given to me in an e-book version by NetGalley, Encantos, Authorbuzz, and Susie Jaramillo herself in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to read your work! (4 out of 5 stars)
