This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine, Evan and Catrin. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.

Another fantastic novel by Sabrina Jeffries and i really enjoyed these characters. Evan and Catrin Price had good chemistry.

Welsh widow Catrin Price is haunted by a family death curse. Any man she marries without first drinking from an ancient Druid chalice that was sold by her ancestor long ago is doomed.
This is an early book from Sabrina Jeffries, whose stories I absolutely love. Unlike her other books, this one has a mystical element and Welsh mythology, one type of mythology I’ve never read before. As with her other stories, the characters and story were well written. I enjoyed every bit of it. I highly recommend.

Windswept is another fantastic book by Sabrina Jeffries. I can hardly wait to see what she comes up with next.

A family curse, an ancient Druid chalice, a murder most foul, a smattering of Welsh folklore, villains, and two people who are meant for each other made this a very good read. Catrin Price is desperate to find the Druid chalice that is necessary for her to have a long lasting marriage. Her husband must drink from the chalice at their wedding or die within three years. An ancestor sold the chalice, since then four generations of her family have become widows. Unfortunately, Catrin's attempt to buy the chalice results in the murder of the seller. Enter Evan Newcome, a Welsh scholar whose best friend is the murdered man. He intends to find out who is responsible. His search brings him to Catrin. I am a big fan of Sabrina Jefferies and have read just about all of her books. However, this is the first that I have read under her pseudonym, Deborah Martin. I enjoyed it as much as her Sabrina Jefferies books. I look forward to reading the others.

I love Sabrina Jeffries. She is a must-read author for me. This is one of her earlier works and though it is enjoyable, I prefer her current writing style, which is why I did not give it a higher rating. But it is still a good book and I will always recommend reading a Sabrina Jeffries novel.

Thank GOD for Juliana, she is the only sensible person in this whole book! I just want a book entirely about her!

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review. This book tells the story of Catrin Price, a widow who is a direct descendant of The Lady of the Mists and believed to be a witch. While having no supernatural powers, Catrin does believe that her family is under a curse from hundreds of years ago when The Lady of the Mist’s daughter wanted to marry an English merchant. Over the years Catrin’s family lost an important family heirloom, and when Catrin tries to get it back, Evan Newsome’s best friend is somehow murdered in the process. We met Evan in the last book, Stormswept, when he was a younger lad. Now Evan is all grown up and is determined to find out what happened to his friend that night. And so he hunts down The Lady of the Mists, only to discover that she is a beautiful and shy young woman. Determined to get answers without scaring her off, Evan decides to deceive her and gain her trust until he gets the truth out of her.
Overall I liked this book ok. Evan was kind of an ass in the first half of the book. And you can definitely tell that this book was from a different time period (it was originally printed in the mid-90’s) because Evan was not very good at respecting Catrin’s wishes when she said no. As the reader and knowing Catrin’s internal monologue as well its easy for the reader to see that she liked Evan and did actually want to, you know, kiss him and stuff but even still it got a little creepy at a couple points. Other than that though I liked the book a lot. The supernatural element always draws me in and the way the book ended was really great. This was a good book but it was a little outdated I think.

Loved it!!!! You will never be disappointed with anything written by this author. A wonderful historical romance with a little bit of intrigue and of course our sexy hero. All in all a wonderful read.

I disliked Even as he was incredibly controlling but I liked Catrin. The story was okay but dragged in places. Thanks to the Publisher for the review copy.

While an quick light read, I don't think it was up to what I'm used to by Jeffries. I found some of the plot points a little unrealistic and both the hero and heroine kind of... blah.

This is another of Sabrina Jeffries’ reissues from her days writing as Deborah Martin. These books aren’t as light and humorous as her later works but still retain her unique writing style and delightful love and passion.

This is the second book in the Wales series, after Stormswept, but each book does stand alone. Evan featured in the first book as a young boy, and the couple from Stormswept - Rhys and Juliana - feature in Windswept albeit slightly older.

I’m already a huge fan of Sabrina Jeffries so immediately the writing style appealed to me. It’s descriptive without being flowery and pulls you into the story from the first page.

I also adored Catrin from the very first page. I could hugely relate to her and I loved the way that she was portrayed as very strong but also shy and a little bit geeky. It also made me laugh that she often cried throughout the story (but not in an annoying, weak way) as I am also a complete watering pot on occasion. Okay, all the time!

Now, don’t get me wrong with what I’m about to say next but I didn’t really like Evan quite as much as I did Catrin. I did like him, but there were times that he annoyed the socks off me. I don’t mind that he had a temper and I understood why he jumped to conclusions at times. I just really didn’t like the ultimatums he kept giving Catrin - for good things as well as bad. She can do this or she can do that. Um - how about she can do whatever she wants?! It just irked me some, if I’m honest.

I honestly did like him and I liked the pair together. It was nice the way that each thought they were unworthy of the other for the same reasons - it was cute and I was happy when they got their happily ever after. And that first scene at the lake - oooft!

The mystery element was also a nice touch. There was a small cast of characters to play with but I honestly wasn’t sure who was the ‘big bad’ until it was revealed at the end. It’s not a whodunnit as such but it was a nice gentle mystery that only added to the love story as a whole.

I did really enjoy this book and would recommend it to fans of historical romances, Sabrina Jeffries or who just want to read a love story with a little something extra.

A fabulous book from one of my favorite authors. Little Evan from Stormswept is all grown up now and is seeking the Lady of the Mists to investigate the murder of his good friend. He meets Catrin and sparks fly. Rhys and Julianna from Stormswept appear as well.

I love the mystery, the romance, and the legends and beliefs this book has. Jeffries weaves an amazing story leading to our couple's HEA. Second in the series, it stands alone and anyone will enjoy this book.

Many thanks to the author for a review copy of this book.

A story of intrigue and love to delight any reader. Author Sabrina Jefferies does a phenomenal job in this story of Wales mythology involving the Lady of the Mists. Blending, murder, mystery, mythology, love, and both strong primary and secondary characters. This is a book the reader will not want to put down.

The writer did a superb character development on Catrin where she was able to combine shyness, sensuality, strength, dedication to others and a strong character without making her seem unrealistic. Throughout this book, I felt Catrin was a woman worth admiring in-spite of her upbringing and beliefs. Her ability to overcome her shyness when strength was needed is a fine example for women to follow.

Additionally, the character of Evan was so complex and exciting that it felt like he continually had layers falling off him exposing more of his life that made him the man he was. Characters such as these two make a book worthy of giving up sleep to read. Not only strong primary characters are in this book but fully developed secondary characters rounded out the storyline giving it more depth.

I love the complexity of this story and the workings in the background of this book. I recommend this to readers that love intrigue and give it 4 STARS.

From the streets of London to Whales we are taken. Catrin and Evan must learn to trust one another and fight together to overcome a curse Catrin believes has been placed on her and the women in her family line. I was surprised with this story, I really enjoyed it. I turned the pages quickly and lost some sleep over this one. It was a nice blend of paranormal and romance. I am looking forward to reading the others in the series.

Romance and danger in windswept Regency-era Wales
This is a reworked and re-released book that Sabrina Jeffries originally wrote under the name Deborah Martin early in her career. Like "Stormswept", the first book in this series, "Windswept" has a slightly darker tone than Sabrina's other books, and there is more deception, although there are still moments of humor and light-heartedness.
I love the setting of this Regency romance: a quaint small town and a lovely estate in the Welsh countryside. I also love the dash of folklore that Sabrina Jeffries has infused into the story. The legend behind the Druidic chalice is quite intriguing. Still, I would characterize this novel as Regency romance with a dash of suspense rather than a paranormal romance.
I found this novel to be quite enjoyable, but there were a few aspects of the primary characters that bothered me. I liked Catrin a lot, but I wish she was a little less timid. She did have a really hard time the last 5 years, so it is understandable. Mostly, I really like Evan, but he had some brief but troubling behavior. He is intelligent, he worked hard to rise above his farm laborer origins, and he often shows a lot of respect for women. For example, he rescues women in danger, and he recognized early on how intelligent Catrin is. However, my main problem with him was how he did not immediately respect Catrin's doubts during their second makeout session. He continued to try to seduce her when she verbally expressed doubts. It took her standing up and saying, "Stop!" to get him to desist. Not cool, Evan! I also wish that Catrin and Evan did not keep secrets from each other for so long, but it did fit the storyline.
I was quite pleased with some of the supporting characters. Catrin's butler is full of personality; he is a hoot! In addition, some of the townspeople are quite lively. The antagonists are well written, too. I also enjoyed how we briefly met the couple from Stormswept having a happily ever after.
I recommend this book to fans of Sabrina Jeffries, especially those who liked "Stormswept". I also recommend it to any historical romance reader who like a Welsh setting and/or somewhat angsty romances.
I received a free advanced reading copy from the author and publisher via Netgalley, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Catrin Price is a Welsh widow with a family death curse; her husband died the day they were married Catrin did not know her ancestor long ago were unquestionably doomed and any man whom she marries without first drinking from an ancient Druid chalice is unquestionably doomed. She finds out about the curse and that the chalice was sold years ago. Catrin has been searching for it to marry and have a family. Is it a coincidence the man she bought it from was murdered the same day she bought the chalice? Even Newcome travels to Wales to find the mysterious woman last seen with his murdered friend. Evan is a scholar struggling to overcome his past and to his surprise and good fortune he finds Catrin shares his love of Welsh mythology. He’s torn between believing her guilty and trusting the passion blazing between them. Evan and Catrin are struggling to trust each other, they have a wall of mistrust between, but they must learn to overcome many obstacles in order to defeat other outside sources who are searching for the chalice for their own devious purposes. This is a story of two people who need to learn to trust, then trust their own judgement in order to find their HEA. The journey is an interesting mystery and a love that neither can deny.
I received an ARC copy from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

I liked this historical read. The story is fast paced with lots of drama. The characters have an interesting chemistry and the story is very entertaining.

As with all of Sabrina’s books, the storytelling is great. If you like curses, Welsh folklore and a little bit of mystery then this is the story for you. I really liked the previous book “Stormswept” but was not terribly enamored with this story. I liked Evan (seeing him all grown up was so nice). Catrin, not so much. Oh, I understand why she told her little fibs but they just kept going on and on. The mystery (and murders) kept me reading. Overall the story was nice, just not thrilling to me.
