An Inn, triplet wolves, ghosts, secrets, holidays, a piano, and sexy dreams make this paranormal a fabulous adventure.

What will happen when Brett SIlver discovers Ellie MacTire's sexy dreams? Does that mean they are dream mated? Who will fall victim to the strange ocurrances within the Inn? Mysterious murders, family history, and a pack of wolves, who will find their mate in a town with secrets?

If you like spicy paranormal shifter romance books, give this a try.

Between a Wolf and a Hard Place is the seventh installment of the Silver Town Wolf series by Terry Spear.

Ellie MacTire and her sisters have taken residents in the Silver Town. Owning the only hotel in the town, they fix it up so that other wolves will come and relax. However, these sisters have a unique ability to communicate with the dead and right now they have a couple of ghost in their midst. On top of that, Ellie must figure out if Brett is the one for her and if he can handle her families secrets.

Will Brett and the pack be able to handle the MacTire’s secret or will these sisters find themselves being up rooted?

I’ve been a fan of Terry Spears for a long time, but Between a Wolf and a Hard Place certainly took me for a loop. I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous in how Terry Spear’s would wrap ghost presence into a story, but here it is! And it was wonderful! I loved the sisterly bond that was shown throughout the story, but funny enough, I really enjoyed the ghost interactions. It’s apart of who the MacTire sisters are all about and this pack just keeps on giving unconditional love.

In addition to that, I loved that we once again, get to see all the previous couples pop in and interact with the main characters. I really look forward to the next installment!
I highly recommend the Silver Town Wolf series to those who love alpha males and shifters!

So we have returned to the world of the Silver wolves and the pack that has been grabbing our attention and hearts for a long time now. Terry Spear's long-running Heart of the Wolf series has hit several different areas of the world, and different packs, but the Silver wolves continue to be one of my personal favorites. This story is another fabulous addition to this series with some fun twists, laughs, and interesting characters while still being entirely about the couple and the love they find together. Ellie and her sisters have resisted as hard as they can to not fall into the arms of the wrong wolf, giving in to their hormones and finding themselves mated to a male that will make them insane quickly. Brett has tried again and again to capture Ellie for himself, knowing that they are the perfect couple. He has finally found a way to ingratiate himself with Ellie and her sisters and will use his small advantage to its full power. Ellie was definitely the kind of female that I love to read about, smart, witty, caring, and with a little something extra that makes her even more special. Her interactions with her sisterssisters were hilarious and every time she and Brett were together on the page the heat and emotion between them is undeniable. Brett is a great guy, and it is obvious that he will do whatever is necessary to make himself what Ellie needs. In the end there was some mystery, some craziness, and a lot of love throughout this story and I loved every moment of this story. I am wondering where the series will take us next, but I have no doubt I will enjoy every moment of it as I do whatever Terry writes. And now that we have a bit of crossover between series I wonder if one day we may have us a wolf/jaguar mating. Another great love story with fun, laughs, tears and one of my favorite themes of sexy wolf shifters.

Between a Wolf and a Hard Place is the twenty first book in the Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear. Alpha werewolf Brett Silver has an ulterior motive when he donates a prized family heirloom to the Silver Town hotel. Ellie MacTire owns the place with her sisters, and he's out to get her attention. Ellie is even more special than Brett knows. She's a wolf-shifter with a unique ability to commune with the dead. Ellie has been ostracized in the past, so she protects herself and those she loves by revealing nothing-not even when strange and dangerous things begin to happen in Silver Town. And especially not to the devastatingly handsome and generous wolf who's determined to win her over.

Between a Wolf and a Hard Place picks up pretty close after the 17th book in the series, A Silver Wolf Christmas, and continues the pairing of of the Silver brothers and the MacTire sisters. Along with the romance we get some ghostly mysteries and interfering families- all to be expected when you look at the series and the players involved. I liked Ellie's character, she is strong and independant, with out making foolish decisions. Brett was a nice guy, with the possessive attitude that comes with being an alpha wolf, but seems to be good at tamping it down when that is the smarter path. However, I have to admit hat I never really connected with him- feeling more like he was the expected character, with the expected personality, rather than a person in his own right. I cannot pinpoint anything that left me flat, but something just did not work for me. The same with the danger level- the majority of Spear's romance has some serious danger in store for one or both of the major players, I never really felt that here. I just was never on the edge of my seat.

Between a Wolf and a Hard Place is a decent read, but I think I might be done with this series ( after I read the next two with I already have on my Kindle). The story is still a good read, but not as engaging and suspenseful as the first few I have read. With the amount of books I still want to read, this just might be one of the series I need to put aside.

I love the books by Terry Spears and I loved this one either but somehow I was always waiting for some action. It was nice and sweet and I loved the characters and the story but there was no tension. The story could have just gone on and on and on, nice, with some laughter, some who-was-it, some whatever and it wouldn't have made a difference.

The main part was the love story and I loved that you just knew that the hero and the heroine belong together but even the bumps in the road were more like... mosquito bites... and not really bumps. I loved that in a way but the story was lacking tension and some more real action. It felt more like reading something like "a month in the life of" despite those ghosts that they had to free and finding out about the ghosts' fates and so on.

On the whole, this is a nice book but I like the other books by the author better.

If you are a werewolf, will you believe in ghosts? Apparently, werewolves are very similar with humans in their view of the supernatural, that is, they don’t exist. Unless, you can see ghosts yourselves and actually being able to communicate with them.

That is the situation Elie MacTire is in. She can see and talk to ghosts. But, how can she tell that to the other werewolves without sounding she is out of her mind. And then, she has another problem. Brett Silver whom Elie believes is her true mate does not believe in ghosts. Yet, one of the ghosts Elie sees is someone from his family.

What to do, what to do. . . Between snowstorms, meddling relatives and ghost stories, Ellie and Brett still found time for their courtship. Problem is someone beyond the grave disagrees!

A sweet read with lots of laugh out loud funny moments, "Between a Wolf and a Hard Place" is one of those romances that you just can't put down once you start because you want to know how the hero and heroine will reach their happily ever after.

"Between a Wolf and a Hard Place" is Rated T for Teens. Sex scenes are implied and not graphic.

How to begin?
First, the title is misleading. I was expecting steamy and exciting but what I got was a really descriptive lukewarm Ghost Busters. The story picked up at the end and ended well.

This is a classic romance story that focuses on the characters more than any outside influence. It’s an easy read, entertaining and filled with memorable secondary characters. The most interesting ones were the ghosts. I really enjoyed the means with which Ms. Spear had one ghost communicate with both Elli and Brett.

I liked how some scenes were flavored with holiday references because it showed the characters had imagination and enthusiasm about life in general. They weren’t hokey by any means. Their optimism provided a warm, friendly environment that if it were real, I’d like to visit. Most certainly, I’d love to stay at an inn decorated with themes like the kind Elli and her sisters created at their place. I didn’t put ‘holiday’ as a genre because it didn’t exactly play a specific role. It was just a means for Brett to find time and ways to woo Elli and the best access is to help her decorate. I wish Brett could come and hang MY holiday lights – he was so efficient and energetic about it. It’s amazing how a man can be inspired to do even the most mundane things to impress a lady. The question is, does it work the way he expects? You have to read it to find out.

There is supposed to be a mystery woven throughout the novel, but I wasn’t impressed by it. What I mean is, it didn’t make me want to flip the pages any faster to find out a clue or because I was experiencing the effects of suspense and drama. I didn’t and I wasn’t. What kept me entertained was Elli’s and Brett’s romance and watching them overcome their internal issues and insecurities to discover that their love was real and true.

There was a wonderful sensual build up that finally culminated in their mating. By the time it happened, I was more than ready to see them commit to each other. So was everyone else. It was kind of cute.

Between A Wolf and a Hard Place is a well told romance story that focuses on Elli and Brett. It’s their romantic journey that carries the plot through to its happy ever after. The sense of community and familial love and support from both their families gave this book a warm and fuzzy ambiance that enhanced my reading pleasure. It’s a sweet, spicy read with personality and charm. That’s why I liked it.

Everyone likes a quick fast fun read.... well this is that book. This lighthearted read is perfect for those times that you really don't want to think about complicated plots. It has a beautiful love story and a large cast of characters to keep every reader involved in the plot. There are some funny scenes to this book that made me chuckle and just thinking about what was going on still makes me smile.

Ellie's secret takes on quite an amusing turn and it adds some spice to this story along with Brett's idiotic statement to Ellie. But I can't tell you what that is I don't want to spoil the book for you.

At certain points in the book I wanted a little more zing to the plot but this didn't take away from the enjoyment of the read. For this reason, I give it a 3.5 STARS.

I always think that Terry Spear books sound fantastic, so interesting and exciting and I love shifter books. I don't know what it is but I have yet to complete one.

YAY more of the McTire sisters! Book #21 of the Heart of the Wolf series and book #7 of the Silver Town Wolf series. Terry Spear's writes a great ghost story. I am really enjoying this series, one thing I really like is the fact the characters don't have sex until they are ready to cement their relationship and call each other mates.

Ellie out of all her sisters has the stronger connection to ghosts, she can occasionally see them and communicate with them rather then just get a feeling. Ellie and Brett have been seeing each other and care for each other to the point Brett is thinking about mating but Ellie hasn't told Brett her secret yet and with how her last boyfriend acted she is scared to tell him. Brett donated his family's piano to Ellie and her sisters for their B&B but the piano stool and music isn't the only thing that comes with the piano, Brett's Grandmother's ghost tags along too. It's been over a year since the sisters moved to Silver Town and almost that long since Brett and Ellie have been dating and with the appearance of the new ghost Ellie knows it's time to tell Brett the truth.

Uncovering the reason Brett's Grandmother hasn't passed on to the other side may be more trouble than expected especially since she is being stubborn and not wanting to communicate and making the other house ghost crazy. Brett doesn't initially believe the extent of Ellie's abilities he humours her for the most part until he witness' it himself. Something Ellie said about Brett's grandmother rings suspicious with him, he starts to look into her death and he finds out things he never knew. The McTire sisters and their cousins are still on rocky ground and Brett doesn't help matters by asking them a questions about exorcising a ghost which doesn't help his relationship with Ellie.

Overall, like always this is a well written and very exciting story. The characters are all very likable and very easy to empathize with. My only problem is how Brett acted after he found out about Ellie's ability he started to act like the sister didn't have any idea what they were doing (like they haven't been doing this their whole life *insert sarcasm here*) and while the sisters thought it was cute and it showed that he was at least trying to learn more it would have just been a whole lot easier and less condescending to just ask her. Otherwise it was a very entertaining story and I look forward to more.

This was a fun light story with many angles. Shifters that find themselves in a ghostly mystery. For those of you that like a light romance without a lot of sex – this one is for you. Full of likeable characters and sweet romance. A nice quick read.

This was a good, quick read. Brett is one of the Silver brothers and works at the newspaper in town. Ellie is one of the three sisters that owns the new hotel in town, that just happens to be haunted. The sisters have a secret that they keep from most everyone...they can communicate with ghosts. Ellie has had issues with disbelief in a lot of people in the past, but she hopes Brett is different. Brett and Ellie might just be true mates!
I love that the town is run by the pack and that they help each other out by making there be no real competition for business. The story line was ok, I had trouble connecting with it and the characters but it wasn't bad. I liked the dream mates portion and the way the pack handled some of the issues the couple had. I also like how close the pack and family members are. This is a shifter romance that is really sweet.
It was a 3/5 for me. I just didn't connect with the story, but it wasn't a bad one!

Ellie told one of her triplet sisters Laurel that she thought something was wrong with her. Ellie and her sisters owned a Victorian inn Ellie could see and communicate with ghosts. Her other triplet sister was Meghan. Ellie and her sisters were werewolf shifters. Her sister Meghan had made sure the wolf door in the cellar of the inn worked. The inn had a ghost named Chrissy she had been a maid who had died at the inn. Ellie couldn’t seem to reach her and that was why she thought something was wrong with her. Laurel was the oldest and always in charge. Meghan had a heightened ability to locate ghosts like Ellie did. They all lived in Silver Town which was wolf ran. Ellie always wanted to help spirits find their resting place. The inn was booked solid for several months coming up. The first time Ellie saw a ghost she was five. Then a new ghost was at the inn she was Maltilda Ellie was dating Brett and it was his great aunt Matilda at the inn. Ellie decided to try to connect with Matilda on her own. Brett had brought his family’s grand piano to the inn and Matilda had been the owner as well as taught piano. Ellie then decided that Matilda had not died naturally as was believed. Rhett and Ellie had erotic dreams about each other they decided to see if they had dream mated that had happened to a couple wolves before. Brett had jokingly suggested that she date other wolves to see if Brett was her mate or if she could dream about other wolves and that is what Ellie did and Brett didn’t like it at all even thought it was his fault.
I loved this story. I loved how close the sisters were and how close Brett and his brothers as well as cousins were. I loved everything about this story. It kept me interested from the first page until the last page. It had different aspects of the paranormal with the wolf shifters as well as ghosts and I loved that. Plus this was a bit of a mystery aspect to it also and that was great. This is one of my new favorites. I loved all the characters and all the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

'Between a Wolf and a Hard Place' by Terry Spear is book 21 in the "Heart of the Wolf" series. This is the story of Brett and Ellie. I have been jumping in and out of this series so for me this was a standalone book. I will say that it appears that Brett and Ellie met in another book but they have moved forward in their relationship other than a few dates before this book.
Ellie and her sisters have opened a hotel in Silver Town. This hotel Ellie has found that they are ghost in the hotel. Ellie is able to talk to and see ghost which has caused her to loose relationships in the past. So she is worried that Brett won't be able to take her ability to see ghost.
Brett knows that Ellie is hiding something and would like to know what that is. Brett is highly attracted to Ellie and hopes that she might be his mate.
Loved watching these two come together and learn to trust/Love.

3.5 stars--BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE is the twenty first installment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult HEART OF THE WOLF paranormal, romance series focusing on the shifter wolves of Silver Town. This is Alpha werewolf Brett Silver, and Silver Town hotel co-owner Ellie MacTire’s story line. BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives including Brett and Ellie BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE is a ghost-story mystery. When the MacTire sister’s bought and renovated the old Silver Town hotel they didn’t expect unwanted guests including a couple of ghosts who took up residence in the old hotel. Enter Chrissy, a former maid and current spirit that haunts the Silver Town hotel, and Brett’s late, great aunt Matilda who couldn’t leave behind the family piano hitching a ride to the hotel when the Silver brother’s donated the musical instrument to the MacTire’s renovation project. What ensues is the building relationship between Ellie and Brett, and the search for the truth as to why neither spirit can move on from the past.

The MacTire sisters see and hear ghosts, and renovating the old Silver Town hotel has kept the sisters busy as it pertains to the history and the ghosts haunting the hotel. While Ellie’s relationship with Brett continues to grow our heroine is perplexed when the usual ‘dream walking’ mate doesn’t enter into her fantasies or dreams and is determined to date as many wolves in order to find her Mr. Right. The $ex scenes are limited, mostly implied, or fade to black.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the MacTire sisters Laurel and Meghan, Brett’s brothers CJ, Eric and Sarandon, as well as most of the Silver Town wolves. Ellie’s ghost hunting uncles, Stanton, Yolan and Vernon, return to cause a little mischief and mayhem.

BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE is a sweet and simple paranormal romance about two wolves looking into the death’s of two permanent guests at the Silver Town hotel. The premise is spirited; the characters are playful; the romance is a slow build to a happily ever after.

It’s always a fun adventure when I can return to Silver Town, and this time around is no exception. Brett and Ellie’s story is definitely fun, with a slightly unusual touch. As one of the MacTire sisters who’ve bought, renovated and now runs the hotel in Silver Town, Ellie has her hands full. Not to mention her one additional unique ability. Let’s call Ellie a ghost whisperer since she not only sees them, talks to them but she can direct them in the process of crossing over beyond this life… usually, unless she’s encountering a stubborn ghost. And she may just have met her match in Brett’s great aunt – one stubborn ghost with a mission, and a lot to be said about mysteries and danger heading for the town.

Brett is clueless to Ellie’s special talents. All he knows is that this she-wolf is the one for him, and the sooner he can get her on the same page as he is on mating – well the happier he and his wolf are going to be. He’s pretty sure that Ellie feels the same way about him, but for some reason she’s holding back. Well, he’ll just shower her with the gift of his great aunt’s piano for the hotel and see what passing that heirloom along to his intended mate does to speed thing up. Only, Brett just handed an up to now silent ghost the voice she needed, and man can she talk. Ellie holds her secret ghost whisperer abilities close and rarely tells anyone. The few men she thought might be serious soon hit the road upon learning that she talks to ghosts. While Brett is the one for her, she’s hesitant about telling him her entire truth – but one opinionated ghost is going to make that happen sooner than she was ready for.

Between A Wolf and A Hard Place is simply pure fun for those of us who love not only Terry Spear’s works but shifter romance in general. A mystery, a bit of a haunting, learning to accept the person you love exactly as they are, and trusting in the love that could last a lifetime. You’ll find all that and then some in this entertaining visit back to Silver Town. I laughed, I smiled, I definitely got misty eyed – and I had a blast, and isn’t that why we’re addicted to reading? Loved this one and I’m already looking forward to what comes next, yes I’m addicted.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE is book seven in Terry Spear's Silver Town Wolf paranormal romance series. All of the books in this Silver Town Wolf series are fun to read, but I think that BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE works as a standalone novel as well. This book is a little different from other books in this series because the hero and heroine are casually dating already when the story opens. The challenge for werewolves Ellie MacTire and Brett Silver is to see if they can take their relationship to the next level, build on their attraction, and make something extraordinary and lasting. Having been burned in the past, Ellie's hesitancy in telling Brett about her ghost whispering abilities and worry over his reaction is holding her back from making a final commitment. This is a perfect book for anybody who enjoys small town romances, great characters, and a good ghost story.

Brett Silver carries on Terry Spear's tradition of writing smoking-hot nice guy heroes. Brett has alpha werewolf charm and Clark Kent sweetness, combined with an adoration and dedication to his wolfy ladylove that make him hard to resist. There is a mystery in BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE, and it surrounds the ghost of Brett's late great-aunt Matilda. I love how Ellie and Brett work together and try to solve the mystery of why Matilda's ghost is at the inn that Ellie runs with her sisters, and what really happened to cause her death. My favorite type of romance involves the hero and heroine on the same page, working to solve a puzzle together, and forging a close bond just as Ellie and Brett do. I liked that I was still trying to figure things out right up until the end, just like Ellie and Brett, when it came to deciphering the unresolved issues from Matilda's past. Other ghosts, snow storms, and assorted mischief-makers occasionally conspire to obscure the truth.

BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE is a sweet and sexy small town romance with a paranormal twist. Terry Spear injects enough humor to balance the ghost mystery and minor relationship conflicts to make a highly entertaining story. While Ellie and Brett advance their relationship emotionally by day, their sexy shared dreams give free reign to their burgeoning desire for each other at night. As with any werewolf romance by Terry Spear, family and pack unity is a feature of BETWEEN A WOLF AND A HARD PLACE and that's a big part of what makes this book, and this series, so amazing. I hope to read about Ellie's sister, as well as other supporting characters, in future books. I eagerly await the next Terry Spear werewolf romance.

Picking up where the last in the series left off, Between a Wolf and a Hard Place follows the developing relationship between Ellie MacTire, one of the new owners of the Silver Town Inn, and Brett Silver, local news reporter and third–born of the Silver quadruplets. As it revisits the setting and characters that were established in the fifth Silver Town Wolf story, A Silver Wolf Christmas, slipping back into the world of the novel was easy to do.

While I’ve really enjoyed this series, as well as those connected to it that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, this particular story didn’t draw me in quite as thoroughly as its predecessors. I can’t help but like the MacTire sisters so far, and the Silver brothers and cousins have all proven to be just as interesting, so the cause of my reaction wasn’t about the characters themselves. All of the wolves are memorable in different ways, and seeing the return of some of my favorites was definitely a nice benefit.

Personality-wise, I think Ellie and Brett are a wonderful pair. Ellie’s gift is a secret, and rightfully so, given the reactions she’s experienced in the past. But, Brett has a few surprises of his own that come back to haunt him, the focus of which I thought only made them both more intriguing as a couple. I do wish, though, that their romance had been allowed to develop a little longer over a narrower range of happenings, rather than the multitude of issues they had to contend with.

Which is where I felt a little lost on occasion. Rather than bonding with each other while facing down a single threat, and the complications associated with it, Ellie and Brett seemed to be dealing with four or five different conflicts, and at least one of those of their own devising. One thing, in particular, that concerned me was simply a misunderstanding that might have been resolved fairly quickly, but instead plagued the couple throughout the narrative. This, in addition to the reaffirmation of the discord between the MacTires and their troublesome cousins, along with a rescue mission on the side, and so on, distracted me from the main plot of Between a Wolf and a Hard Place more than once. Still, I was very happy with the resolution of the more romantic elements of the story, and truly believed that these two belonged together.

While it wasn’t my favorite to this point, Between a Wolf and a Hard Place was still a good addition to the series. The introduction of the MacTire sisters has served it well, and, despite these few issues, I admit to a great deal of curiosity about how things might play out for all the Silver Town wolves in the novels yet to come. Though it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the whole series, if possible, since the background stories of all the characters are fairly extensive and build on one another. As a bonus, mention was also made of the merging with the jaguar shifter companion series, which I’m eager to learn more about, and is something I think has a lot of potential for excellent storytelling in the future.
