I love this beautiful little book so much that I went and bought a hard copy of it. It was a joy to read as I began my journey into Ayurveda.
I must say that ayurveda - oldest known medicine originated in my home country. This book talks about meditation , sleep , what foods to eat along with few recipes...... How to wash hair , face packs and so on......
I would give this book 100 million stars if I could. An excellent, well thought out, well written and instructive piece of work!
Informative and well written book. Provides a great overview on Ayurveda and has beautiful illustrations, mantras, meditations and delicious recipes. The author provides tips to help you start your way in a Ayurveda lifestyle. If you ever wondered what Ayurveda is and what it entails this book will provide the information you need and you won’t regret purchasing.
Written by Ananta Ripa Ajmera, Certified Ayurveda Health Practitioner and Yoga Instructor, I was really excited when I was approved for the ARC of this book.
This is a simple and straightforward guide to Ayurvedic principles and quite easy to understand or follow. It is aimed at health conscious individuals who do not know or want to know the basics of Ayurveda.
Being from the land of Ayurveda, I was a tad disappointed with the lack of in depth information in the book ... however I understand it was aimed at covering basics ... Ayurveda is a very broad and Scientific medicine system. While not all aspects are covered, this is a still a good book to get started with.
Though I expected more from the book, I did like how it was presented in a way that's easy for anyone without background knowledge to understand what the author is trying to say .. While I don't do Yoga myself, I have had good results with Ayurveda and wanted to know what the author had to share ...
If you want to know how to incorporate Ayurvedic Principles, cook the Ayurveda way and make simple changes that would make a great difference, this book is a good place to start. However, it is not a comprehensive or complete guide, just basics, in my opinion.
I particularly loved that the book had a lot of pictures, though more relevant, related and much needed pictures like for example: ingredients, would have been better. Also, I would have loved more explanation on the whys - why certain ingredients are used in the recipes, that would have been more easier for readers to get an insight into the system.
**I was offered an eARC in exchange for an honest review by Storey Publishing, LLC through Net Galley.
Fantastic holistic health information and beautifully written.
Written with great knowledge, depth and an almost poetic style, this book contains valuable information to find the balance towards holistic health. It is also carefully designed, combining the teachings of Ayurveda and Vedic tradition with beautiful images, precious mantras, meditations and delicious recipes.
We are invited to become more aware of every little act, every interaction, the relationship we hold every day with food, with our minds, with ourselves, with everything around us. By remembering this true nature of which we are a part, in which everything is universal consciousness, everything is connected and our actions can heal to the extent that they reflect an appreciation in all aspects of life. Then we can live in balance, nourish ourselves not only physically, but energetically, emotionally and spiritually. Our capacity for enjoyment expands and food is medicine in all its expression.
My gratitude to the Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review the book
This book - YES! We've already preordered a hardcover version of it. It has all the basic principles, broken down for someone who is vaguely familiar with, but only has a loose understanding of, Ayurveda. Everything is neatly explained, without condescension, and real world examples are provided. While there are a few ingredients that we'd need to use a specialty store for, the vast majority of recipes also uses everyday household items.
I was already familiar wuth Ayurveda before reading this book but I still learned a lot. The foundation of this book is aboutliving in balance. The author herself has had health imbalances in the past so the book reflects how these practices helped her journey. This is a very new reader friendly book, I finished this book with a shopping list and some wonderful mindful meditations to add to my daily routines
