When an almost hook up ends in disappointment and hurt feelings Raven wants no part of Nico. Sixteen months later there is no avoiding each other as their best friend network forces a reunion that reignites their undeniable attraction. When family obligations take over both Raven and Nico must make hard choices even if it means ending what may be their best chance at happiness.
Hooked on Trouble book three in Kelly Siskind's Over The Top trilogy did a great job of taking two characters whose penchant for putting the needs of everyone but themselves first and averting numerous disasters in a caring and charming way. Humor layered with angst fill the pages of this story. The importance of family for both Raven and Nico was equally intense and the ethical dilemmas both faced in "taking" care of loved ones was touching to watch play out. Moments of despair and self doubt were broken down by this writer's persistent and adept way at casting away the secrets and misconceptions holding them down. Seeing this couple overcome their past and find a way to love was absorbing. Hooked on Trouble is proof that good guys don't always finish last.
I absolutely love Hooked On Trouble! Although this is the only one of this series I have read, I didn't feel lost or as if I were out of the loop. Nico and Raven have an intense connection, both physical and emotional. They have histories, not only with each other, but with their own families, that have left scars on their hearts. They shared a special night in Aspen, where Raven opened up to Nico and let herself be vulnerable. But, now it's 16 months later and there have been no texts, no calls, nothing from Nico. So Raven's pissed and holding a mean grudge, but will need to get over it because she's moved to Vancouver to be near her best friends, whose men are Nico's best friends.
Yep, awkward. But, their natural chemistry wins out and soon they're hitting the sheets in some seriously steamy moments. But, it's their emotional connection that gets me. They have so much in common and fit into each other's lives so perfectly. Nico's the sweetest, mushiest teddy bear of a guy wrapped in a huge, muscled package. Raven, on the other hand, is all hard edges and angles. She's tough and badass, with her inked up skin and her keep away attitude. Somehow, these two opposites are perfect together. I think what I like most about both Nico and Raven is how real they are. They're not perfect, they have emotions and react and act like the rest of us do. They make bad decisions born of emotion, born of love of family, something we're all guilty of. There's no sugar coating on Kelly Siskind's part, she lets us see them as the imperfect humans they are, and their story is all the more beautiful because of it. I love them so much that I'm dying to know Shay and Lili's stories, so I'm going to check the rest of the series out.
Ever since I read CHASING THE SUN (Kelly Siskind’s debut novel), I wanted to “chase” all her books. *wink* I became an insta-fan of her writing style and hoped to read more of her work. She’s the kind of author that easily transports you to a different world and makes you feel ALL THE FEELS. She knows exactly how to combine romance, angst, and sexiness work just the right amount in order to get HOOKED on the story. And hooked is exactly what happened for me with her newest novel.
The OVER THE TOP series started when Shay, Lily and Raven took a girls’ trip to Aspen where they met up with Kolton, Sawyer and Nico. MY PERFECT MISTAKE was Shay and Kolton’s story. A FINE MESS was Lily and Sawyer’s story and now in HOOKED ON TROUBLE “HOT” is Raven and Nico’s story <3
HOT gives us the final story of this amazing series. Finally we get the chance to know what really happened between Nico and Raven in Aspen. Their story really began in OVER THE TOP (Over the Top #1), where they first hooked up. Raven found herself opening her heart to Nico, which is a huge step for her because she never allows any man to see her vulnerable side, but she felt this undeniable connection between them was impossible to resist, but in the end, Nico broke her by just leaving without a word. No text, no call…he just vanished.
Now with the girls all living in Vancouver, Shay, Lily and Raven can spend more time with each other and are planning to create a business together. As well as building a new business with her friends, Raven is also determined to find her missing sister Rose. But even with her mind so focused on her missing sister and new business, she’s still hurting. Nico’s disappearance in Aspen cut her deep and left internal scars that haven’t quite healed, but she’s decided to focus on the here and now and is more than ever determined to stay away from a certain big tattooed guy who left her heart in tatters.
Nico has lived his life trying to be someone good. He became a cop to do the right thing, but sadly his family got him in too much trouble and he has to carry this big burden. His family comes first, even if it costs him lose the only girl that left a mark in his life. But after seeing Raven again, he’s willing to conquer her, to let her know that he still has feelings for her. He wants a second chance, no matter if he has to beg or to crawl until he can earn her trust again.
As opposites attract, Nico and Raven can’t stay away from each other. She has a haunting past and Nico will be there for her, this big tattooed guy is so sweet and has my heart melting for him. I loved the way both characters grew together and how the author gave them the perfect ending for this REMARKABLE series. This series is a MUST read. You will love each story and you’ll love the author as well.
Raven had met Nico on a trip to Aspen. It was there she let herself be vulnerable and be open with a man, but Nico left and never called or texted. Raven is still holding a grudge against Nico, but he finally starts pushing, wanting her attention. And it just so happens Nico, being in the force, has the connections to help Raven find the sister that left her so many years ago.
I’ve been wanting Nico and Raven’s story for a while now and I’m super happy to finally have it. I loved that Nico was so persistent with Raven. I think it was the only way to really get her back. That woman can hold grudges like no one else. But Nico worms his way back in her life and helps her with finding her sister, Rose. Seeing Raven make mistakes, made her more real for me. In the previous book, she just seemed like a force to be reckoned with and like she could take on the world. She totally can, but seeing her be vulnerable (in her POV) and make mistakes, had me feeling for her a lot and rooting for her! She ended up with a lot of character growth towards the end, which is always a big plus for me in books. Nico is totally amazing! I was kind of hating the guy (just a tiny bit) in the previous book, but seeing things in his perspective and seeing how big of a softy this tough, big man really is, had my heart melting and wanting him to have his HEA. I also loved his family and how fun they are.
The friendships were even better in this book! I loved seeing Lily in the book and seeing her get uncomfortable with the girls was very funny. She’s totally the cutie of the bunch. She and Sawyer’s banter was in this story and it made me miss this couple a lot! I was very happy with the way the series ended and the little confession that Shay and Kolton make towards the end. I think it fit the story perfectly and it came to a great conclusion.
Overall, Hooked on Trouble is a light and fun story about hope and forgiveness.
Its been forever since I read A Fine Mess (Well its been 5 months ;) )
I've been waiting for Hooked On Trouble to read Raven and Nico's story and I am so glad I got a chance to read it early! :D
I've loved Kelly's writing ever since I read My Perfect Mistake and I think I swore it couldn't get better than A Fine Mess, but the author has really outdone herself here!I loved Raven and Nico. These two were so beautiful together!
Raven is the toughest one in the group. She is snarky, witty and so brash, I love her for it!I love how these girls are always there for each other and the friendship between Shay,Lilly,Raven and Kolton,Sawyer,Nico is just amazing!
I'm sure,if you've read the previus book, you've all been really curious to know what happened between Raven and Nico in Aspen, and why she was so angry later. You'll have to read the book to find out ;)
Raven has faced a difficult childhood, but she has worked hard to become successful and right her ways. She is searching for her sister,Rose and I loved this journey of hers and how it brought her and Nico closer.
Nico has got his own stuff to deal with it.His brother might end up going to jail and he has some tough decisions to make. His dedication to his family was beautiful and I loved his mom, sister and nephews. The characters and their situations are so realistic-my favorite part of Kelly Siskind's books!
They aren't uber-rich or perfect. They are imperfect human beings, who've made their share of mistakes and are trying to do their best, and are hoping to get their happily ever after, just like the rest of us.
And I am so glad Raven and Nico got theirs despite the ups and downs!
I am so sad to see this series come to an end, but these stories will remain with me forever and I hope to read more like these in the future! Will miss the gang!
P.S. I loved how Kolton finally comes to know the bra that hit him in Aspen was Shay's and how it brought them all together!Makes us believe in fate and serendipity ;)
If you haven't read this series yet, I urge you to!Each book can be read as a standalone and you'll definitely end up falling in love in with these books!
This book definitely lived up to the title! Nico and Raven both have similar family issues. Nico's brother Josh has gotten himself in some hot water and Nico will stop at nothing to clear his name. Raven is on the hunt for her missing sister Rose. She finally finds her and everything should be good but it's not. Rose isn't what she appears to be and Raven feels guilty and wants to help her because that's her sister. Now, I understand where Nico is coming from but him of all people should understand how it is to want to help a troubled family member. Nico stopped at almost nothing when it came to his brother Josh and almost risked his job but Raven is wrong to help her sister? Hypocrite much?? Nico has some very high standards when it comes to certain things but it's ok for him to break the rules. This was a major turn off for me. I loved the heart that Raven had but she should have proceeded with caution when it came to her sister Rose. You haven't seen her in a long time and people change big time. As much as I wanted to like Raven and Nico as a couple I had a hard time connecting to them. Maybe there was too much family drama? Nico's dismal of Raven so easily?? I loved Lily and Sawyer and so was happy to get more of them in this book!

In case you were wondering, YES, Kelly Siskind ended her Over the Top series on a high note. Not that one could doubt that after reading her previous books, right?
Hooked on Trouble is the story of Nico and Raven, the last couple from the group of three women who met the men of their lives in Aspen. In case you haven’t read the beginning of this story, go check My Perfect Mistake. You won’t regret it.
Just to be clear, though, you don’t have to start with the first book in the series. All of them stand alone, as far as I’m concerned.
Now, about Hooked on Trouble, I have to confess it took me a while longer than I’d anticipated to get into this story and fully connect with the main characters. Don’t get me wrong. Nico and Raven have distinguishing and strong personalities, and their chemistry is incredible. But something held me back for a while. I can’t really explain what it was, so I’m blaming it on my reading mood. 10% in, though, I was hooked–pun not intended.
The thing that impressed me most about this book was the main characters’ personalities. Those two felt like real people, you know? Their flaws and insecurities were more evident, and the problems surrounding them and their families only added layers to their personalities. These were real-life people. Sure, I like to read about billionaires and rock stars falling in love as much as the next girls, but I also LOVE when I can read books and go “yeah, this feels genuine.”
It was more than just the drama involving Nico’s siblings and Rose’s sister. It was basically the two of them and who they were. Raven was so far from perfect. She had a past that shaped her into this person who didn’t see things only black and white. In fact, there was a whole lot of gray in her. And Nico...He tried so hard to get the black separated from white that I also saw the gray in him. He wasn’t just a good guy because life is good and his soul is pure. He was the good guy because he had to be. His life and the people around him needed that from him.
I really love when I can see why characters (people) are the way they are, and this book gave me that.
Nothing I say about the romance will come as a surprise if you’ve read or heard about Kelly Siskind: it was swoony and HOT! Really hot. The chemistry was there from moment one (or moment zero, if you take into consideration the previous books in this series), and it only burned hotter with each chapter. Nico was the kind of guy you wanted in your life and bed. You probably wouldn't be leaving your or his bed all that much, to be honest. The problems they had to face later on, the trust issues, the getting back together... everything was done in a way that felt real. Yep, it was that good.
You know what else was that good? The ending. Fans of this series will be all over that ending. Everything came together as it was supposed to. Everyone got their happy ending. The last chapter warmed my heart and gave me something else I can always count on this author delivering: humor! I had this big, silly smile the whole time I was reading that chapter. Exactly what I needed!
Well, I’m truly happy I had the chance to get to know these characters and read about their lives, love and future. So go get yourself some happiness, too!
The only question remaining now: when do I get more books, Kelly Siskind?
Hooked on Trouble by Kelly Siskind.....Loved this book!!! What a great roller coaster ride, I could not put it down I needed to know what was happening. I absolutely loved Raven and Nico they are so cute and perfect together. Sixteen months ago they had a night together and things did not turn out good, can these two get past what happened. Kelly Siskind is an amazing author that pull you into the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
It’s been sixteen months since Raven and Nico shared something special that fateful night in Aspen, and now that she’s living in his city, she needs to forgive his broken promises and move on. With a fresh start in Vancouver, Raven plans to find a job she loves, start a planning business with her two best friends, and find her older sister, Rose, who left home 17 years ago when Raven was only nine.
Nico acknowledges that Raven has every reason to be pissed and hold a grudge after he promised not to hurt her back in Aspen, yet he walked away without an explanation. He desperately wants her and needs to get her alone so he can tell her about his family’s troubles and why he broke his promise. And maybe this time, they can explore and deepen that special connection they both felt.
After absolutely loving the first two books in Ms. Siskind’s Over the Top series (A Fine Mess is my favorite read of 2016!), I was eager to read Raven and Nico’s story. Unfortunately, Hooked on Trouble became the victim of too much anticipation and unfair expectations on my part. While I enjoyed the book, it just didn’t grab me like the previous books did, and I found myself unfairly comparing the other couples’ stories to Raven and Nico’s tale.
Even with my frustrations, there were many things I enjoyed about Hooked on Trouble. What I did love was the unadulterated attraction Nico and Raven shared. It went well beyond physical. They both knew right from the get go in Aspen they had a connection that was special. I liked how open they were together; the sharing makes their relationship special and unique. I loved that Raven could not hold on to her anger when Nico was around her. I also liked Nico and his family. Ms. Siskind uses his interactions with his mom, brother, and sister, as well as his inner-monologue, to showcase the type of guy he is, including his own fears and insecurities.
While not fair, I couldn’t help compare but Raven and Nico to the previous couples; however, Nico and Raven are DARK with DARK histories. They are not light and silly. They are sarcasm and tattoos. I think this darker side and seriousness weighed down the story too much. While I adored their chemistry and their cutsie moments, and at times was sucked into their intense passion, I felt more times than not, I was being told how they feel, rather than experiencing it along side the first person narrative.
Unfortunately, I never got behind Raven. The author did a great job building the case that Raven needed to find her sister and seek forgiveness. I understood her drive to find her “unconditional love,” which blinded her to what she already had. But I don’t understand how Raven could make so many stupid decisions: from seeking out her sister without Nico to ignoring her own intuition about situations. However the absolute worst was when she discovered something of her sister’s and put it in Nico’s empty apartment. I seriously got so angry at Raven for making such a stupid decision. While Raven was quick to remedy this situation, the damage was done. I was not ready to forgive Raven.
In the end, while I struggled with Raven’s actions and never really felt connected to the pair until almost the end of the book, I still enjoyed Hooked on Trouble. I fear my expectations ran too high, resulting in mild disappointments as I read the book. OR maybe Nico and Raven just never spoke to me because I could not relate to their individual characters. Regardless, the series is amazing, with each romance unique and enjoyable, there is certainly something for everyone, and I highly recommend reading the entire Over the Top series. And I look forward to more stories from this talent author!
My Rating: B/B-, Liked It, but I had a few small issues
HOOKED ON TROUBLE is a multi-layered, in-depth look at Raven and Nico's love affair. A love affair I've been looking forward to since CHASING CRAZY. The depth of characterization for both the main characters is wonderful and stirring. The description and humor are as wittily done as I've come to expect with Ms. Siskind's books and by the time I'd finished, I didn't want the story to end.
I expected, after reading the first two in this series, to get a dose of light-hearted wit and some smoking hot sex scenes. As far as the sex scenes, they didn't disappoint (whoo-boy did they ever NOT disappoint, smoking hot baby!) I mean, I totally have a weakness for inked characters, and there's enough delicious ink in this story to satisfy my tattoo loving soul.
The romance really touched me in this book, and I'm not ashamed to say that it's my favorite of the series. Characters who've had a lot happen to them in their lives, the broken ones who have to grow and learn to trust again… and still risk love anyway, those are the ones I adore and most closely empathize with. A bow to Ms. Siskind in delivering exactly my favorite type of love story. The story is funny, sweetly soft, a bit heart wrenching and blisteringly hot (seriously, OMG smoking hot).
I had an epic book hangover after reading HOOKED ON TROUBLE. I may have to go back and reread it again. Highly recommend it for fans of M/F contemporary erotic romance.
This is the newest addition to the Over The Top series and I've been waiting for this one for quite a while now! This is a fun series filled with lots of laughs and some pretty hot moments too and I've loved every moment of reading these great books!
Nico is the fiercest and most mysterious of the bunch and I've been dying to find out more about him since he was first introduced. Raven is a perfect match for him, but it's clear from the beginning that they're going to have their fair share of issues to work through.
I've really enjoyed reading each of the stories in this series and highly recommend them all to read to anyone who enjoys reading great books that'll leave a smile on your face.
*sniffles*
*tries to wipe this giant goobery grin off my face*
That, my friends, is how you write the perfect series ender. I’m just all hopped up on feels right now.
Ah, Nico and Raven. I have been so anxious to read this book. So excited to find out what happened between them in Aspen, and to witness the spark that has existed between them since the start of this series explode into some kind of sizzling inferno.
I was not disappointed.
There’s an intensity between these two that makes it hard to look away. I was frustrated with both of them from time to time. They both make mistakes. Then they both own those mistakes and while it’s heartbreaking, it’s also hopeful and…well, very human. But the connection - the chemistry - between Nico and Raven is compelling to read. They’re sexy in exactly the way you’d expect them to be sexy, but also in ways that you might not expect. Because it’s not just physical chemistry. The emotional chemistry between them is just as hot and there were moments where I found my pulse racing without a even a hint of nakedness. They’re just. That. Hot.
They also basically owned my heart. Here we have two characters with a boatload of baggage between them and how they handled each other so tenderly, the way they laid their hearts open and vulnerable over time – was just an achingly beautiful thing to read sometimes.
As always, I completely enjoyed the time I got to spend with “the gang”. The best parts about investing in a series are the little updates you get on couples already taking up residence in your heart and this was no exception. Everybody’s story wrapped up here and it was incredibly rewarding and perfectly written. I may have cried a little. And then I laughed. Which basically summarizes my entire reading experience with this book. It’s the perfect balance of heart and humor and GAH – I just loved it so much.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go bask in the glow of this most epic bookgasm.
She’s done it again! Ms. Siskind has given me a story that touched me deeply, made me smile, and had my heart beating with joy. This is a fantastic end to a wonderful series and I, for one, am sad to know that I won’t be reading about these characters again (not counting the multiple re-reads that will undoubtedly happen, of course). Kelly Siskind has cemented herself as a one-click author for me…whatever she writes, I will read!!
Nico and Raven’s story is one I have been waiting for since the very first book. Their first meeting started well but didn’t end that way. Only problem is that we didn’t know what happened until now…and not knowing drove me crazy! 🙂 Of course, I can’t tell you what happened (insert evil laugh here) but I can say that if you trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
These characters feel so real, like people you’d want to have in your own life, and their situation will definitely touch your heart. Raven wants so desperately to have a family, to feel whole. Nico wants to keep his family together, to help them move forward, and to keep them safe. These two have so much on their plates yet their strong connection and explosive chemistry refuses to take a back seat. Their story isn’t a smooth one…the heartbreak, the angst, and the drama has their romance on a start-and-stop path. But, their desire for each other keeps them coming back. Raven is a strong, smart woman who has a soft heart. She goes with her gut and, at times, that isn’t the smartest move. Her tough appearance is in strong contradiction to her almost innocent heart but that’s what makes her so real. Nico is not only dreamy and swoonworthy but he’s also loyal and caring. Every woman should have a Nico in her life!
And every reader needs a Kelly Siskind book in their life. Trust me, if you haven’t met these characters or this writer yet, you are definitely missing something. Add this to your TBR and experience the romance, the sexy times, the heartbreak, and the swoons…you can thank me later!!
***4.5 “These two I swear…” Stars***
It feels like I’ve been waiting for FOREVER to get my hands on Raven and Nico’s book. The chemistry between them was intense and I needed to see how they’d work through their issues, and though I knew it would be an angsty read, I did because there was no way it couldn’t be, but holy hell, these two took the cake. Thankfully there was a good dose of sweet, smexy and humor to help balance it out and make Hooked on Trouble a great read.
I’ve had a bit of a girl crush on Raven from the start due to her sassy, snarky but sweet nature and how comfortable she is in her own skin. There were moments when I did think she was a bit over the top, but nothing too crazy. But after finding out about her past and what she’s lived through, my love for her has increased. She’s lived through hell, has made some sketchy decisions, but learned from them. But she’s also built a lot of kevlar tough walls around her which keep her from getting to close to many people.
Nico. Holy. Yummyness! Talk about tall, dark, handsome and smexy as sin but then you add in a compassionate and generous heart and not only does the man melt panties, but hearts as well.
His childhood has let him to live a live where things are either black or white, right or wrong there are no gray areas in his world. He’ll go to the ends of the earth for those he calls his own, but since he sets his standards impossibly high, when anyone slips from what he deems the right path he is absolutely devastated.
As I said in the beginning, I knew Nico and Raven’s road to their HEA would be an angsty one, but dear lord these two really put me through the ringer. The chemistry between them was explosive from the beginning and I loved their bantering and witty comebacks as much as their smexy dialogue. The similarities in their upbringings helps to deepen their connection, but their trust issues and tunnel vision keeps them from taking that final step that could lead to a love of a lifetime. The ups and downs that these two went through had me wanting to reach out and smack some sense into them, but they were necessary. They both had so many issues to work through in order to truly be ready for what the other could give them that I found it hard to put down and I loved how they finally got their shit together in the end.
This series was a lot of fun to read, even when I wanted to reach out and smack some sense into them all. The characters were all well developed and I loved seeing how they grew, not only in their own books, but as the series progressed, and seeing how much stronger and settled they all were in the end. That family feel, whether by choice or blood, that I love so much was done perfectly with how involved they all were in each others lives. I’m sad that this is the last book of the series, but I’m thrilled that I got to experience the ride and see where they all ended up!
Kelly Siskind was one of my favorite romance author discoveries last year. I especially loved A Fine Mess, the second book in this series featuring a group of friends who meet a group of guy friends on a ski trip in Aspen. I have been waiting for Nico and Raven’s story since book 1, but after how amazing book 2 was for me, I knew that it probably would not live up to that. Hooked on Trouble isn’t a book at all, but it was definitely not the kind of romance that I love reading. For one, it has the angsty past/troubled upbringing trope that I have quickly grown to dislike, so automatically this book wasn’t going to be in my favorites list. That being said, I think Kelly Siskind did a really fabulous job here and managed to make the story not come across as too angsty and dramatic. She’s always good with writing compelling characters, and I found them here too. I will admit I struggled with some of Raven’s motivations and thought processes in Hooked on Trouble, but by the end of the story I liked her more than I did. However, I didn’t like her character as much as I loved Lily and Shay. Now the love interest, Nico, was on a whole different level. He was such a good guy and totally knew how to bring the swoons to the pages of Hooked on Trouble. I loved how he chased after the heroine, but also gave her the personal space she needed. His devotion to his family, and the utter support he showered his friends turned me into a swoony mess! The chemistry between Nico and Raven was steamy just as I expected and I really did love them as a couple when bullheaded Raven finally did give in. Another part of Hooked on Trouble I loved was all the fab female friendships and the bromances. I also loved getting sneak peeks into the other couples’ lives. I looooved all the Lily & Sawyer scenes – they are one of my favorite OTPs! While not my favorite book by the author, this series overall is one I’d recommend if you’re looking for a steamy, romantic and fun contemporary series.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Over the Top series and I'm sad to see it come to an end with Hooked on Trouble. But what an ending it is! Raven and Nico's story is the perfect conclusion to this trilogy, it's everything you could want in a contemporary romance.
Nico is my favorite type of hero- strong, protective, compassionate, caring, and best of all vulnerable. He really is a big softy! His loyalty and love for his family is so admirable, they mean everything to him- it's driven him to become the man he is, it's led him to the career he's chosen, it drives every aspect of his life.
Raven is a badass. I want to be her when I grow up! (or grow younger as it were) Her love for her friends is unparalled and she takes shizz from no one, Nico included. She had a tough upbringing and that's left her flawed and has led her to make a few questionable choices. But like Nico, a lot of what she does is family-driven.
The connection Nico and Raven have is honestly something special. There's a spark between them that hasn't dimmed, even through the months they were apart. Sometimes you meet a person and just know that they are meant to be a in your life, even with obstacles and issues and secrets conspiring to keep you separated. Beyond the emotional bond, the chemistry between them is seriously hot, hot, hot. These are 2 such combustible characters, get them in the same room and there's a chance things could start catching fire!
I've been hooked on Kelly Siskind since I read Chasing Crazy early last year- it was one of my top reads of 2016, and she's kept my enthralled with each book since. While I'm sad to say good-bye to these 3 couples, I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us...I'm thinking Stella is going to need her own book!
I’m so happy I got to change to read and review an ARC for Hooked on Trouble. I’ve been in love with Kelly Siskind’s writing since reading Chasing Crazy almost a year ago, and I was lucky enough to review the previous two books of this series, My Perfect Mistake and A Fine Mess.
I’m a big fan of Kelly’s writing, as you must have gathered by now, so no news there. I think the book has a perfect mix of humour and seriousness, though I have to say that I found this to be the least funny book of the series, but it made sense, because both Nico and Raven were pretty intense for most of the book.
I loved both characters, of course I did, but I have to say that they were the ones I connected less in this series. I think my first problem with Raven was the grudge she hold against Nico for so long… I understood her reasons, but… not really?! She knew why he left Aspen back then and the issues with his family, and she just waited for him to call her? That makes me kind of mad… But I did love her passion and her style and her sharped tongue. I also had a slight problem with Nico, although I understood why he was so strict, I found it a bit too much, but I loved his softness and how much he took care of the people he loved. Nico was all soft where Raven was all sharp, and I think they complemented each other quite nicely and had several things in common too.
I really liked the story and the heavy inclusion of family and its importance. I liked to see Nico struggling with everything he thought he had to shoulder, and Raven trying to reconnect with her sister. But it kind of bothered me that they didn’t communicate about some pretty important stuff… And I wish that some things had been tied up better.
I absolutely loved the ending though, seeing everything wrapped up for all the three couples warmed my heart, and I could have done with more bonding moments between the whole gang.
This was a solid conclusion to the Over the Top series – nice going with the series title, btw – and I urge you all to read these books if you love a good romance, lots of great characters and amazing friendships.
