Annie, and her dog, Carson live in British Columbia and must travel to Newfoundland to visit her sister, Elsie. We go along on the cross country trip with them. This is a cool picture book that shows different provinces and introduces Canada to young readers.
After Annie Magruder receives a letter from her sick sister, Elsie, Annie packs her bags and sets out on a road trip across Canada with her dog, Carson. Their stops along the way include the Rocky Mountains, Lake Winnipeg, Niagara Falls, Quebec City, and Prince Edward Island. Carson enjoys the sights and smells along the way, but he's really looking forward to the surprise that Annie says is waiting for him at the end of their journey!
This book brought back happy memories of a 5th grade assignment when I planned a road trip across Canada. The brightly colored illustrations include a map of Annie and Carson's route across southern Canada. Carson reminds me of my dog, Adrian, who also has a Squeaky Chicken. I wonder if Adrian would enjoy a road trip across Canada? I'll have to see if I still have that map...
Highly recommended!

I loved this book! The illustrations are beautiful and the story captured the heart and essence of Canada. It was great to go through the pages and see some of the iconic Canadian landmarks. Indeed an instant Canadian classic and great for gift giving!
'Carson Crosses Canada' by Linda Bailey with illustrations by Kass Reich is a pretty cute story about a long road trip across a beautiful country.
Annie lives on the West Coast of Canada in British Columbia with her dog Carson. One day, she gets a letter from her sister Elsie, and Annie decides to take a road trip to visit her sister. Carson doesn't have a suitcase, but he's happy when Annie remembers to pack his toy, Squeaky Chicken.
Annie promises Carson that he will have a surprise, but as they travel through big trees and hoodoos and plains, Carson can't figure out what it could be.
Annie is an intrepid traveler and Carson is the perfect travel companion. The art is beautiful in this picture book. Canada is a big, beautiful country and that shows as Annie and Carson make their journey. This is a really cute story and would be a nice read along for preschoolers.

Carson, the dog, crosses Canada with his owner Annie Magruder to visit her sister who is sick. They begin along the Pacific. They cross the Canadian Rockies, visit Lake WInnipeg and Niagara Falls, stop in Quebec where Carson learns he is a "chien", and then cross to Nova Scotia, eventually taking a ferry to their destination in Prince Edward Island. At the end a "surprise" is awaiting him. I don't want to give the surprise away, but I will say Carson loved it. It's a book I can imagine preschoolers wanting to revisit often. I received an advance electronic copy of the book from the publisher via NetGalley for review purposes.

Carsons owner receives a letter from her sister and they take a road trip east to visit her. Their trip takes them across all of Canada. They see: the Rockies, the Prairies, Niagara Falls, etc. Finally they arrive at their destination Elsie's house. Carson is surprised to see his brother Digby. He hasn't seen him since he was a puppy.
This was a cute book that makes me want to take my own road trip across Canada. The illustrations depicting the places they see on their journey are beautiful. This is a good book to show children the beauty that is Canada. The different places that they can see across the country. It also touches upon the distance you will go to see someone that you love. I highly recommend this book for all children and some adults too. I am definitely going to purchase this book for myself.
5/5 ⭐
Carson Crosses Canada by Linda Bailey is a cute children's book about a trip across Canada. Annie makes the journey with her dog from the Pacific to the Atlantic across Canada as they sight see. The illustrations are lively watercolors, intended to capture the spirit of the trip rather than the actual realistic landscape. The pair travels light and their tale is fun.
The story starts on one side of Canada, and ends up on the other side. Carson and his mistress are cheerful and adventurous, and they make sure to have a good time as they travel and camp their way across the country. The vibe is upbeat and energetic. Carson is a peppy sort of dog and adds a good deal of personality to the trip.

Carson Crosses Canada, a perfectly adorable title for an adorable story. I love that the story touches on little aspects of every province, I feel there should be more children's books that feature this country and what makes it so wonderful and unique. The story itself was very cute and touching. Overall it was a fantastic read and I will definitely be getting this for my little niece!

Cute story about a dog and his owner crossing Canada. My kids said it was a good story.
This was a really sweet story of a dog, Carson, and his owner Ellie traveling across Canada. This would be a great read for dog lovers!
Road trip! This book gives readers a great way to learn about the country of Canada and the road trip sounds amazing! I want to leave right now.
Adorable story about an older woman and her dog driving across Canada to visit an ailing sister. The dog, Carson, is having a great time, but really just wants to know what the special treat is waiting for him.
The pictures are great to look at. My three year old seemed to enjoy it as well.
Cute book, just a tad short on any real story. I think it should have included a bit more on Canada and places in Canada. Still, little ones will enjoy the story. Illustrations were cute!
