Back to Your Love by Kianna Alexander is one roller coaster ride. Epic in every way. Two former lovers are reunited. Brought together at a friend’s wedding. It’s there and then, that both of them will feel the magnetic pull to each other. Their love never ended. It will take everything they have to get over the past and into the future.
Kianna Alexander has created a perfect steamy read with deep emotional attachments. It’s hard not to fall in love with the characters. Their crisis became mine and soon, I was lost within their story. Back to Your Love is all about mistakes, overcoming the past, and second chances. Forgiveness is a huge part of the tale. Impressive writing by this talented writer. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. Overall, I recommend it to everyone.

Back To You love By Kianna Alexander is a fantastic read ! I cant wait to see what Kianna Alexander will write next !!

Back to Your Love is a gentle story with flawed but still admirable characters. The friendships and kinships are supportive and strong.
Imani Grant, now a doctor of dermatology, left home after high school graduation with determination to pursue her goals. She’d left with a broken heart that had never healed. Now, ten years later, she is home with a successful practice.
She and Xavier Whitted, who dumped her instead of proposing to her when they graduated high school, still have undeniable chemistry and caring that bring them together in a way that sends the blood racing.
Xavier, a CPA by profession and an avid social worker, sets in to regain Imani’s trust, not an easy task. He knows he handled a life-changing situation very poorly ten years ago. He is determined to correct that mistake.
Kianna Alexander filters in back-story and slips in foreshadowing that keep the reader intrigued. However, the internal conflicts Imani struggles with drive the story along a obstacle strewn path. While she tells herself, “The truth will set you free,” she can’t come to terms with guilt she carries.
For this reader, the love scenes crop up more often than needed. They are explicit but well-written. They just lose some impact by repetition.
Kianna Alexander does a beautiful job of writing about how the bad characters’ and the good characters’ lives get mixed up and influence both Imani’s and Xavier’s professional and personal lives. She does a masterful job of bringing all things together for that happy-ever-after.
Smooth enjoyable reading!

I really like that this series is based on men in a fraternity and shows them in a very positive light. There can be lots of negativity when it comes to fraternities and sororities, so I always enjoy a book that isn't negative.
Imani and Xavier were high school sweethearts that reconnect at a mutual friend's wedding. Xaviar isn't shy about wanting her back in his life and sometimes I thought he was too pushy. But I did appreciate it when he did take a step back. Imani has a secret that will affect Xaviar and really waits too long to tell him. I thought she should have been a little more forthcoming considering the status of their relationship. But it all worked out in the end.
I'll admit to skimming/skipping over the sex scenes. I'm not opposed to them but I think it was the mood I was in that I didn't care to read about them. The scenes were very tasteful from what I did read and I appreciated that fact.
There are some real life issues that Imani and Xavier deal with and I thought it was handled really well (can't give away too much).
An enjoyable read overall.

Imani and Xavier’s high school romance felt like true love, but when Imani goes to Georgia for college they can’t hold on to their spark and drift apart. A decade later Imani is coming back home to open her dermatology practice and Xavier isn’t letting Imani get away this time. But Imani's got secrets now and if she were to say yes she could ruin Xavier's race for city council.
I’m starting to think rekindling romances are becoming my new jam. I like how the hero and heroine's shared history means we don't have to sit through the getting to know you parts. This romance isn’t clean or anything but it is just such a sweet romance. From Imani’s family to the kids Xavier counsels this books full of characters who love each other in all meanings of the word
This book takes place in Raleigh, North Carolina and just has an amazing sense of community and world building, I was not surprised to discover Alexander was a southern belle herself, like there is a scene where Xavier orders a lunch with a Cheerwine which is such a regionally specific beverage.
Oddly, Imani and Xavier felt less like Millennials and more like Gen Xers. It's specifically stated that the characters are 10 years out from high school making them 29-30 at most, but they talk about listening to Mary J Blige at school dances, it just feels like an older reference. Also, Xavier refers to the 21-year-olds helping run his campaign as youngsters, and look I refuse to believe any Millennial trying to unseat an older incumbent wouldn't use social media to their advantage. It was just weird.
I do want to talk about how this book is being marketed. This book is without a doubt a black romance but it's not necessarily being marketed that way; it's cover blurb is by Kristin Higgins and a lot of the ad copy refers to Alexander as a mainstream author. Now, I've read both indie black romance and Kimani and I was curious how this would strike the balance and it really leans more towards the indie black romance side. This book definitely has some unapologetic blackness to it. There are no explanatory commas but I do think there are enough context clues if someone isn't familiar with everything going on.
Back To My Love is a contemporary friends to lover romance with it's share of drama and politics stirred up with a spoonful of southern sweetness.

I was so excited going into this book, I thought it'd be about a workaholic who had a messy break up with this girl years ago and they end up meeting at their friends' wedding. But honestly, this book was just a mess until I decided that it wasn't really for me and gave up on it.
Firstly, just because this book wasn't for me doesn't mean it isn't for you, so you can read my review and if the things that bothered me about it aren't bothersome to you, you can give it a chance and hopefully have a great experience.
Secondly, trigger warning.
Okay, so let me start out by saying I couldn't care for any of the characters. Xavier was literally the most annoying hero to me. He's described as a saint, I'm not even exaggerating, Imani talks about him like he's God on earth. Look, don't get me wrong, it is admirable when someone takes the time of their busy routine to help children who needs it, but they mention it way too much. I remember being ten pages in and the protagonist said "hearing him talk about his work in such a modest way" and I thought "I just started this book and I'm already done with talking about his charity work".
"Instead of money, my dividends are paid in the success of my mentees." I mean, seriously? Gag.
Another thing is how Imani always has to point out how attractive Xavier is, he doesn't "raise his arm" rather than "raise his muscled arm", it gets tiring after a while.
Now, after Xavier being painted as the greatest guy in the universe, when we finally get to the point where her secret comes out - which by the way was pretty obvious from the start and it just annoyed me that it kept being treated as the most mysterious thing - and instead of him being understanding and being there for her, he! actually! gets! mad! I'm never getting over this, he was such an asshole, you just find out the girl you supposedly love was raped and your reaction is accuse her of lying? Fuck that.
Imani was just annoying and stupid at times. She acted like he broke her heart all those years ago when in reality it was just that they were moving away from each other for college and it wouldn't make sense to continue dating. But then again, she dropped that shit pretty quickly so I don't really understand why it was brought up in the first place.
And that's all I read from this book, I don't know how it ends or if it gets better, I was just done with everything that I didn't care enough to stick around and find out.

Back to Your Love was a good second chance at love romance – right up until our hero turned into a jerk, and I could not get back into the love part of this story after Xavier’s reactions to Imani’s “secrets”. I had serious doubts bout just about anything this man said after the way he tore into the woman he’s supposed to love. No. Although I was technically done with this couple at this point, I did finish the book just in case there was redemption down the line. Every reader is different, there are some lines that once crossed I will not view that character with the same eyes again. And I had the rest of the story to get past my reaction, but my feelings stayed the same.
I consider this a good book, one that I didn’t love or hate. It told a story, one there is an audience for and it was enjoyable to me up to a certain point. So I stand by the “good” rating of 3 stars.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I was really stuck between the 2 star and 3 rating scale because this book was hard for me to finish. The writing was okay and the plot was present, but this book just dragged on for me. Maybe it’s the fact that the hero is so perfect and their second chance at love came too easily, but nothing about this book excited me. This book tells the story of Xavier, who is an accountant, politician wannabe, youth center volunteer and Imani, who is a dermatologist. They were high school sweethearts, but were broken up when Xavier decided to "see" what life was like in college without a girlfriend. Fast forward ten years, Xavier and Imani see each other again at a wedding of their best friends and sparks fly like fireworks. The main event in this story is the fact that Imani has this "huge" secret that will ruin Xavier's chances of becoming a member of the city council.
First off, how could Imani and Xavier's best friend marry each other and they never run into each other before the wedding. Xavier was the best man and Imani was a bridesmaid. I did not understand that detail of the story. This story did not have enough momentum to carry it to the end and I was waiting for some drama, but I never got it. Only when Imani's secret comes to play, does the story kick off and becomes a little more interesting. Xavier did nothing for me because his character was too perfect for me. He is sweet, considerate, has awesome friends, chases after Imani to prove his love, and he volunteers at a youth center for Pete's sake. The man is perfect and I grab a book for a character with a little more depth and flaws to carry a story. Imani was a character with a shameful past and that is the only thing that kept me reading because I really wanted to know what happened to her. She was a sweet character, she loved her mom, and she is a driven business woman. Where is the conflict? There was barely any in the story and the details carrying the story is the political race, Xavier trying to woo Imani, and Imani trying to avoid Xavier but she fails miserably. The whole reason for me reading second-chance romance is for the reasoning behind the break-up in the first place and how the characters find love again. Nothing major happened causing them to break. It was just a young man needing space which is completely understandable, but I needed more. The break up is barely discussed and Imani is supposed to be so "hurt" over the breakup, but 2 seconds into having a conversation, she sucks his face off.

Back to Your Love opens with a familiar refrain for women of a certain age—the curse of being a perpetual bridesmaid (but don’t assume the problem is that the bridesmaid wants to be walking down the aisle herself). Dr. Imani Grant has a business to open, a painful episode in her past to forget and she is fine, just fine. Even a room overlooking a “wide, sandy band of beach below as well as the soft, rising waves of the Atlantic lapping at the shore,” doesn’t ease her troubled mind. She wants to be there for Georgia, “her college roommate and constant companion through four years of undergrad at Spelman.”
This was the third time in fourteen months she’d been asked to serve as a bridesmaid for one of her friends. At this point, her nerves were beyond frazzled. If her mother inquired just once more about whether she was seeing anyone, she was pretty sure her head would explode.
Her mother isn’t a guest at the wedding, but there were sure to be “well-intentioned older ladies present for the joyous event.” Questions about her single status will be impossible to avoid. Like the memories flooding Imani’s consciousness.
She thought of Xavier, her first love, who’d crushed her heart like a bug beneath his shoe. She’d thought that was the pinnacle of pain until she’d lost her father to violence. Now, her focus was on her new business venture. She’d worked hard to reach her goal, and she didn’t have time to deal with the inevitable drama relationships brought.
You don’t have to be a romantic soothsayer to know where this is going. When the bridal couple, Georgia and London, beam, smile, and look into the distance, Imani says, “I assume from that grin that everything is going as you planned, Georgia.” Why does the plan involve all the women looking in the same direction?
That was when she saw Xavier Whitted striding across the room. There was no way she could have missed him—his six-foot-three-inch height made him tower over most of the people in attendance. Her heart began pounding so loud she was sure everyone in the room could hear it. What in the hell is he doing here?
She tore her eyes away from the handsome man from her past and looked at Georgia with a questioning gaze. At first, Georgia didn’t seem to notice, but their gazes met after Imani loudly cleared her throat.
Georgia responded this time but still watched Xavier with appreciative eyes. “Isn’t he fine? He’s Tyrone’s best man, one of his TDT brothers. His name is—”
Xavier Whitted, oh yeah, Imani knows the name of London’s Theta Delta Theta fraternity brother. She tells the ladies hanging on her every word that he was her high school boyfriend. After Xavier spots her, he makes a beeline for her—just as Imani asks her girlfriend what she had to do with this.
“What?” The bride-to-be feigned innocence.
“Georgia, did you set me up with him?” She uttered those words in a rushed whisper, because Xavier’s long legs were bringing him closer at an alarming speed.
Xavier really is a dreamboat. When he tells Imani that they’ll chat later, “tingles ran through her entire body, careening and colliding like a jar full of angry hornets.” They take a romantic walk on the beach but Imani puts her foot on the brake, telling Xavier she wants to take it slow.
Xavier is the perfect new/old guy friend. He’s seemingly happy to keep it casual. It’s Imani who starts feeling those old-time feels again when she’s around Xavier. When they’re together in a bar, “she closed her eyes as she inhaled the clean, masculine aroma of him. God he smells good.” As for God, Imani’s mother Alma invites Xavier for after-church dinner when she learns her daughter is seeing Xavier.
Alma had changed into a blue floral housedress and was tending a pot of fragrant turnip greens on the stove. “I made an extra pie for you to take home, Xavier,” she said as she added a bit of garlic to the pot. She’d already set glasses of iced lemonade on the table.
Xavier’s smile was wide and gorgeous. “I appreciate that, Ma Alma.”
Extra pie? Ma Alma? All of Xavier’s fraternity brothers rooting for their brother to re-capture the heart of his lady? Give it up girl! Imani is in for the romantic ride of a lifetime. Although the focus of Back to Your Love is Imani and Xavier’ romance, Kianna Alexander creates a world that is believable and compelling. Life isn’t always easy, even for the richest of Xavier’s frat brothers, but hometown loyalty and giving-back to the community is the thread that ties and binds. Definitely looking forward to the next in the Theta Delta Theta series.

Having your life in order, and finally feeling as if you are in control of your own destiny is important to Imani. Now a doctor with her own clinic, she’s overcome tremendous obstacles, personal and professional to get where she is. Of course, her mama still thinks all isn’t as it should be – her baby should be married by now, and when there are grandbabies to love and play with, she’ll know that her daughter is finally settled and one less thing to worry about, much. Now back in her hometown to be a bridesmaid, Imani is just hoping to get through this visit, celebrate, connect with old friends and then return to her own life.
Xavier is successful, driven and eyeing a seat on the City Council. What he didn’t realize until he spotted Imani is that the feelings that he’d had, since high school for her were still there. If only he hadn’t been such a jerk and broken her heart then. But, he’s grown and learned, and she’s never quite left his mind: he’s going to push, cajole, plead and charm his way back into her good graces, and get that second chance.
From the first page, this story drew me in, and the more I learned of Imani’s past and struggles, the more I wanted her to find someone like Xavier: she deserves a truly good and driven man, and he is just that. But, her hesitation is understandable, never really having recovered from that first break-up, and worried that some of her own trials and struggles won’t be easy for her to explain, she’s not ready to jump right in. But everyone, yes EVERYONE thinks (as I do) that these two are perfectly matched: from Imani’s cousin who will do anything to support, push and protect her, to Xavier’s fraternity brothers always ready with advice, problem solving and even a bit of meddling to redirect him.
So many moments in this story brought emotion, conflict, understanding and resolution, both individually and as a couple to these two. And despite Xavier’s very machismo and rather uncharacteristically harsh initial response to the events Imani shared that still burn her with shame and regret, his ability to find empathy and understanding (often with pushes from his friends) brought him to better understand her as the woman she has become, and allowed their connection to strengthen.
A wonderful story of second-chances, understanding, forgiveness and above all, love.

Back to Your Love is the first in a new series about a group of fraternity brothers finding love. Xavier and Imani were high school sweethearts, but eventually went their separate ways. Meeting up again at a friend's wedding, brings up a lot of old memories.
I thought his was a cute second chance story. With so much time lost, there was a lot of trust to rebuild. The couple was cute together. The one thing I didn't love about it was the reaction of Xavier to the reveal of what happened to Imani. For me, it kind of showed his a bit of his true character. If he loved her, why wouldn't he believe her? She really gave in way to easily in the end and should have made him work for her forgiveness. There were also a few too many pop cultural references for me. You all know how much that drives me crazy.
This is a new to me author and I do want to see what else she has written. I am also intrigued to see the rest of the brothers find their HEAs in future books. Check out the excerpt below for a sneak peek of Back to Your Love. -Kari

Back to Your Love by Kianna Alexander is the first book in her new Brothers of Theta Delta Theta series. This was a nice sweet second chance romance. Imani Grant was once again attending one of her friend’s wedding, knowing she was probably the last one left not married. While at the wedding, she sees Xavier Whitted, her high school sweetheart, whom she has not seen in 10 years, when he broke her heart. Imani does not want anything to do with Xavier, but he is determined to win her back. Xavier knows he hurt Imani, but he was just out of high school, and she was going away to college. But now both are successful; her being a doctor of dermatology and he running for a council seat.
With pressure from friends and family, Imani realizes that she still has feelings for Xavier, and finds it difficult to ignore his charming and persistent courtship. However, Imani has a secret that she has hidden from everyone, including her mother. Only her cousin knows the truth of what happened years ago, that is hidden by a gag order. When Imani finds herself falling in love again with Xavier she fears telling him the truth, worrying that she will harm his chances to win the election, as well as her concern that he wouldn’t understand.
They both had a lot of chemistry and we knew they belonged together. Another very nice aspect to this second chance romance was the secondary characters. Imani’s cousin was a great addition, as she was fun and loyal to her. Xavier’s college buddies were awesome, and I look forward to seeing their stories in the future.
As the romance heats up, when it begins to look like our couple will find happiness, all hell breaks loose threatening their relationship. Will Xavier forgive Imani for hiding things from him? Will Imani survive another heart break with Xavier?
As much as I did enjoy their romance, there were a few things that did annoy me. After 10 years of no contact with Imani, Xavier was a bit too glib in thinking he will win Imani back. When her place was ransacked, he was quick to get mad that she thought it was one of his kids (he helped young kids in need), which turned out to be true. He also jumped to the conclusion as to her secret when it was revealed, and I thought he behaved badly and unfairly.
However, with all that said, there was a happy ending. I loved when Xavier’s friends went behind his back to convince Imani to give Xavier another chance. The epilogue was also very well done. If you enjoy sweet romances, second chances and a great supporting cast, I suggest you read Back to Your Love.

'Back to Your Love' by Kianna Alexander is book One in the "Brothers of Theta Delta Theta"series. This is the story of Xavier Whitted and Imani Grant. This is the story of second chances at love. This was a sweet, easy and all around feel good book. Xavier and Imani are reunited at a friends wedding. Xavier is a hardworking business man that lends his time to trouble teens. Xavier is a dream as a romance hero and was easy to love for me. Imani is a great leading lady to this story. Yes, she does have some issue that she is keeping from Xavier. But overall, she is someone I was rooting for and so happy that she was getting a second chance at love. *A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection*
