Scorching…..
This is a prequel novella which sounds like it should be short and with minimal substance. That couldn’t be farther from the truth! Chase and Vivian’s casual encounter was anything but and they knew it when they met again. Little did they know their first encounter shouldn’t have happened at all…
“Corporal Chase Fisk, the Virgo with the perfect penis, was her instructor and CO for the next eleven weeks…”
Not only was their passion and heat to spare, this quick read let us find out more about how and why Chase and Vivian tick the way they do. Chase is uber-protective and all things alpha, to the point where he is willing to give up everything for the chance to be with her. Vivian was definitely more conservative, not as ready to commit with so much on the line for both of them. There are ups and downs and back and forth but in between it all is passion and humour, love and caring that couldn’t be hidden…
A jaw-dropping ending, with dangerous revelations and consequences, has me running to find the next in this series… ~Diane, 4.5 stars
Chase and Vivian are the typical one night stand that morph into tomorrows what was I thinking? They are real life characters facing real life problems, they both risk everything to be together only Chase has come clean about his life and Vivian is withholding her secrets. The attraction is immediate; it’s clear they possess certain magnetism to each other. The love scenes are composed of scorching heat and love. Supporting details make the plot line flow seamlessly, the cliffhanger at the end was a surprise to me. The secondary characters are important to the novella, I am very intrigued to see where everyone ends up. Lit Fuse is a fantastic afternoon read full of hot military men and women, who know how to heat up the pages!
Both Chase and Vivian have serious life goals and dreams. Chase is teaching a bunch of newbies the ropes with explosives and little does he know Vivian will be his star pupil. That is after they spend a night of heated passion together, not knowing that they will be in a commanding officer/subordinate relationship. Chase can hardly think straight teaching when Vivian is one of his students, but he puts his feelings of lust and attraction aside to do his job. Neither wants to risk all that they’ve worked for, for a fling. But at the same time both realize this is more than a fling and they can’t resist the pull between them.
Angst, longing and passion are what I felt from these two! That ending should be a crime, and it left me wanting to get my hands on Live Wire immediately, if not sooner! Thankfully Live Wire will be released next week, very soon: February 14th, 2017. After that cliffhanger, I wonder how things will play out for this lovesick couple! Excellent, addictive writing and setup for this series! I can’t wait to pick up Live Wire!
Holy Mother of WHAT???!!!!! Wow, just wow. I'm still trying to pick my mouth off the floor, so please excuse me if I start rambling. WOOOOOOOW!!!! Ok, Ok. I'll at least try to write a review for this one..
What a way to start a series. I mean, usually in a prequel, we're just learning about some characters and getting to know a little about what the series might be about. This? THIS!!! This has everything you'll ever ask for in a novel wrapped up in to a perfectly packaged prequel. And to say that I'm ready for the rest of this series is a HUGE understatement.
Chase is a Corporal for the US Army. He's also completely goo goo gah gah gorgeous, with the southern gentlemen flare. Can you say, heeeeellllo. While out with the boys, he meets a bombshell who catches more than just his eye. After finally convincing her to let her guard down a little, it looks like that one night stand is on. But when the next morning roles around, it turns out that its anything but a one night stand. And his job just became a lot more difficult.
Viv is the redheaded bombshell. She's also in for the surprise of her life when she walks in to her training class and realizes that her trainer is her CO and her amazing one night stand. Oops. Dang it. Things just got real. But during the eleven week course, the chemistry between the two becomes more than either of them can handle.
This was a great prequel in terms of getting to know not only the main characters, but support characters as well. I was completely pulled in to the battle over being with each other and was obviously pulling for the HEA. And just when that HEA is happening...we're totally blindsided by an event (and total freakin tease BTW) that was the cause of my mouth hanging open. Side note - the title of this is PERFECT!!!!!!!!! I'm already watching the calendar so that I can get my hands on the next one. Eeekkkkk!!!!!

Lit Fuse is a quick and sexy introduction to Chase Fisk and Vivian Brooks. What started as a one-night stand turns into something more for these two when they run into each other the next day in the most unexpected place. This prequel novella is a great introduction to the series and provides a good backstory to Chase and Viv's relationship. Then that ending! Totally unexpected and now I am dying to start Live Wire, I can't wait to find out what happens next!
Fast. Fun. Explosive.
I fell in love with Caisey Quinn's books when I read her Neon Dreams trilogy last year. And I was really excited when I found out she was writing a military romance. This is a smokin' start to a new series! The chemistry between Chase and Vivian is off the charts! Definitely can't wait to see what happens next.
Fraternization between teacher and student is frowned upon, but particularly when said people are military and careers are on the line. However, the explosion that went off the night they met and the explosives they work with by day only keep the pair smoldering for each other and make being together worth the risk.
Lit Fuse is an introductory prequel story to what is going to be quite the sizzling hot romantic suspense series based on the ground work set up in this story. There is a full story arc of sorts in this one, but at the same time, it is still an introduction and ends on a teaser cliffie at that. The reader will get so much more out of this and not be disappointed if that is all understood going in.
Chase and Vivian are the lead characters surrounded by his army buddies and her besties. Her past holds dark secrets that are hinted at until the end. The pair of lovers are both confident, assertive, and passionate though both have things from their pasts that make them emotionally distant and less than forthcoming. Vivian has a chip on her shoulder over her need to be the best and prove herself. She tends to assign feelings and thoughts to Chase that are not his because beneath her brashness she is pretty insecure and vulnerable. Chase has a tendency to button down his feelings and doesn’t share so I can’t entirely blame her for engaging in speculation.
So, all in all, I think this was a nice set up and teaser for what is to come. Romantic Suspense lovers who want a fiery romance pair should give this a go.
My thanks to Penguin-Random House for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Caisey Quinn has me totally hooked on Chase and Vivien! From the first page to the last, Lit Fuse is a sweet, sexy, action-packed ride that teases at an even greater adventure ahead. This novella packed a powerful punch, introducing readers to Chase, Vivien and a handful of other fantastic characters who will comprise the Nashville’s Finest Series. Each one had a unique, lovable and totally intriguing personality that left me wanting so much more. Although I’m not generally a fan of third person narration, Caisey Quinn effortlessly captures the hearts of our two main characters and delivers this story in a way that perfectly reflected their individual voices. She served up all of the emotion and personal connection to Chase and Vivien I could have hoped for and then some, easily ensuring my total investment in their happily ever after.
From the moment they met, Chase and Vivien were utterly electric. They had an undeniable attraction that hinted at the possibility of something deeper and decidedly epic evolving between them. Caisey Quinn did a phenomenal job at planting the seed of their inevitably significant connection and letting it grow just enough to grab hold of the readers and ensure they’d be back for the full-length novel. I loved how carefully bits and pieces of both Chase and Vivien’s pasts were revealed over the course of the story, allowing readers to appreciate the depth of both characters while also leaving room for further exploration. While I knew enough to become wholly enthralled by these memorable characters, there was obviously more to discover that will keep me coming back. I can’t wait to see where Caisey Quinn plans on taking these characters and how they’ll continue to grow, both as individuals and together, as their journey progresses.
There honestly wasn’t anything I didn’t enjoy about Lit Fuse. From the fun, sassy way that this story began to the explosive and puzzling ending, I was absolutely riveted. This novella is a true testament to Caisey Quinn’s incredible talent. Not only has she crafted a unique storyline and filled it with one-of-a-kind characters, but she has also managed to perfectly balance the heat, humor and heart of this story and compact it without losing any of its spark. I adored every sassy comeback, intelligent thought and sizzling moment of tension that colored the pages of Lit Fuse and I can only imagine how addictive Chase and Vivien’s full-length book will be. This story was paced to devour and I did just that. Overflowing with flirtatious banter, sexy interludes and emotionally raw moments, Lit Fuse is the total romance package topped off with heart pounding suspense and gut-wrenching surprises that will leave you reaching for the rest of the Nashville’s Finest series.
I don't know about you guys, but I have been dying for something new from Caisey Quinn, and I gotta tell you, I couldn't be more excited for her new series, Nashville's Finest. The first book in its series, Lit Fuse, might be a novella, but boy does this story ever pack a punch. It sets the scene and introduces us to Chase and Vivian. The connection from with these two was instant and intense. I loved the forbidden quality to their relationship and seeing them deal with their feelings despite their circumstances.
Lit Fuse is a fast paced and exciting read. It was hot, sexy, and super entertaining. I devoured this novella in just under two hours. I was hooked on the characters and their story. I couldn't wait to see what happened next and I really enjoyed the twists along the way. And the ending...boy does it leave you begging and dying for more. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book in this series and see how everything is going to play out for Chase and Vivian.
I've been waiting to see what Caisey Quinn would give us since I finished her Neon Dreams series in 2015. When I learned it was a military romance series set in Nashville, I couldn't have been more excited. Now that I've read the novella, I'm even MORE excited... and anxious to get my hands on the first full length book! I need more of Chase and Vivian. Like, ASAP.
Chase and Vivian. Boy, did I love those two. First of all, Chase was hot AF. (I do have a thing for men in uniform. But, who doesn't?) Vivian was all kinds of awesome on her own. I love a good kickass heroine and she was absolutely that. I read a lot of books, but I don't stumble across many women in the military — and especially in a field as dangerous as bomb diffusing. That alone makes me want to be best friends with her. The fact that she was strong, smart and totally willing to go after what she wanted made me love her even more.
Together? Chase and Vivian were explosive. (Yeah, I went there.) They had intense chemistry from the very start. Their hookup was HOT. Of course, it was just supposed to be one night... but that was before they realized Chase was Vivian's CO. Did I mention forbidden romances are one of my favorite tropes? Even as things progressed and they were determined that it be only physical, I wanted more for them myself. They were so well-matched that I can't help but want, no NEED, for them to work out.
Caisey's Nashville's Finest series is off to a great start. I loved the characters. There are some great secondary characters I can't help but be intrigued by, too. Lit Fuse was SEXY AF and there was some great suspenseful moments, too. There is a fairly wicked cliffhanger at the end of this one — my heart starts pounding just thinking about it — so I definitely have all kinds of grabby hands for Live Wire.
I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

"I like the way I taste on you."
This was something else, an insatiable hunger. A craving for a taste of something specific he wasn't supposed to have.
Chase Fisk could burn her alive and reduce her to ashes. He'd lit the fuse that night and now she was a ticking time bomb waiting to detonate. Needing to explode. Soon. The blast wave could destroy them both, destroy their careers, their common sense.
