I love the Creative HeArts series and was excited to read more about Sloane and Tru even though I didn't read 10 Things Sloane Hates About Tru. I wish I had read that book so that I could see how they got their start.
Sloane is finally adjusting to Texas actually surprising herself by wanting to stay here Texas. She has a lot of things going on which includes someone blackmailing her about her web comic and trying to get her brother and dad to move to Texas with her and her mom so they can be together as a family. But Tru makes everything a little easier to deal with, but Tru is dealing with something a bit more life changing.
Tru is dealing with some demons of his own that he thinks that he can work out by his self and so he thinks pushing Sloane away will solve his problems. But he realizes he needs the ones he loves in helping him. A lot of his decisions created a lot of tension between him and Sloane that could've been avoided. But Tru seeks outside help and sees that being together with Sloane will help him. They couldn't do it alone, but needed each other.
Final Thoughts:
I'm sad that this is the end of Tru and Sloane's ending, but I'm also super excited to finally see things between Willa and Finn's relationship progress.
I enjoyed this preview and am interested to see what will happen next, but there are a couple of things that didn't sit right with me, the first being the choice of narrators. As the blurb mentions Violet, I was a little confused when the narrative began with Chevy. It took me a while to figure out what was happening as I assumed it would be 100% narrated by a female. Personally, I would have preferred it to be narrated only by Violet, as it would reinforce the whole 'strong, female, narrator' vibe that is suggested by the blurb. I also thought Violet's voice was written better than Chevy's.
The plot is intriguing and I think the motorcycle club idea is unique, although it did feel like the first plot point came out of nowhere – I felt it could have been set up a little better, although after I got over the initial surprise, it did suck me in! I felt anger towards the antagonists and horror for the protagonists, and it did make me want to read on.
Overall this was a good sampler and an interesting novel opening, although I do feel that some aspects of it could have been a little stronger.
I'm a fan of Katie McGarry's writing and with that excerpt I've read it was no different, she's slowly building the plot and captivating me using what I like most: romance and good suspense. In this volume, she tells the story of Chevy and Violet, from the beginning making a brief presentation of the couple and their dilemmas to later entering the adventure involving the motorcycle Reign of Terror and Riot, who are enemies. Chevy and Violet are separated after a serious fight they both had but they love each other until now and will need to prove to each other and themselves if they are able to forgive.
The book seemed very good and engaging. I would recommend.
Another great story in a string of great books! Just sad this was only a sample! Looking forward to reading the whole book!
It was a very interesting and emotional read. I really enjoyed the story and characters. It's the first book by the author that I read, I confess I haven't read the others in the series but now I can't wait.
I absolutely love Katie McGarry! I don't even have the words to describe this author but I love her more with each book I read!
The start of this book is really strong! I haven't been finding YA very engaging lately, but this book caught my attention quickly.
After this sampler I could barely wait for the entire book. I love everything Katie McGarry and her writing is very addictive. This one is no exception. Great main characters (and side), strong and thrilling plotline, more than enough angst and romance. Great !!
The first book I read in Katie McGarry’s A Thunder Road Series was Nowhere But Here. I fell in love with not only the series but also the writing style of Katie McGarry. I knew when Long Way Home was released that I had to read it. Let me tell you this is the best book in the series so far! I love the connection that Chevy and Violet have and the way that they deal with their relationship and the world outside of the Reign of Terror Motorcycle Club. This is the kind of book that is hard to put down. I stayed up all night and read from start to finish in one night. I cannot wait to read other books written by Katie McGarry. You can get your copy here.
deliciously addicting, painfully engaging, ends in a cliffhanger - it's a great job by the author and publishers. I'll have to read the full book soon!
Loved this book. The author makes these characters so real. You feel like they are your friends. I highly recomend this book to my fellow readers.
Love love love it! Katie McCarty never fails to write a steamy, heart-felt story and I can't wait to read what comes next!
This sampler was fantastic I can't wait to have the real thing in my hands.
I liked and enjoyed this sampler really made me want to read the whole book. Cant wait!
It was a little bit disappointing, as I thought it longer
I am so glad this book is finally out so that I can go pick it up and read everything beyond the sampler. I love Violet's voice and story, her connection with Chevy, and that she has experienced loss in her life. She is a figure of empowerment.
I'll do a full review once I have read the full book, but just wanted to note that this sampler left me wanting more!
Violet was raised around the motorcycle club the Reign of Terror, yet because her father died conducting Terror business, she feels she must protect her younger brother. This means she must sever all ties to the club, including her ties with Chevy, the boy she loves. Her plan comes to a standstill when another motorcycle club approaches her with old secrets and threatens the people she loves. Does Violet really know what has been going on inside the club? Who can she trust when there are many lives at stake?
Long Way Home is the third book in the Thunder Road series. The story is told in the alternating voices of Violet and Chevy, so readers will be given a balanced viewpoint of most events. McGarry doesn’t spend much time reminding readers about earlier events, yet even though there was time between these two books, I was able to pick the story up and dive right in. This third book is not the end of the story and most readers will see the hints of future storylines weaved within. Long Way Home is a nice escape read for those who like an easy and clean bad boy romance.
