Legend of Love is book two in the Muse Chronicles. A perfect addition to the series. Lisa Kessler is a great storyteller and I love how she can transport you into her world.
Legend of Love is the story of Callie O'Connor the reborn Muse of Epic Poetry. She is a civilian psychologist working for the Navy and Hunter Armstrong who is a Navy Seal that has just come back from a mission. Hunter Armstrong becomes Callie O'Connor's guardian.
Legend of Love is the perfect addition to Lure of Obsession. I love how Lisa Kessler mixes ancient greek mythology and modern day together. Hunter being a Navy Seal makes a great guardian and a great thank you to the men and women in the military service. I can't wait to hear the next book.
To find out what happens go grab your copy and have a listen.
I would recommend this series to anyone who loves greek mythology and modern day romance.
I give Legend of Love 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm completely in love with this series, and I'm waiting anxiously for each and every book in this series. The second book in this series takes the story further, by introducing a new Guardian, Hunter, but also by making the villains more evil and scarier, maybe even a little bit deranged.

Hunter is an interesting choice for a Guardian. I like how his military career was portrayed and how it played into his role as a Guardian. I also liked the fact that he didn't have the same gift as Nate, so I'm assuming each Guardian will have different gifts. I'm also assuming that their gifts are somehow tied to what the Muse they're protecting.

Callie was a great heroine. I like how she dedicates herself to working with military men and women, to help them heal from traumas from being in war zones. The thing I liked most about her is that she's not perfect, she has a little bit of a wildness in her, due to her Muse, that she tries a lot to keep under control.

I liked Callie and Hunter together, they make a great team, and I liked the little glimpse into Mel and Nate's future. The pacing was great, and there were a few developments in the overall story, that of some really deranged people trying to keep the Muses from opening up the Theater of the Muses, that I'm very curious to see how it will play out in the future books.

All in all, a great book and one that any urban fantasy lover should add to their TBR piles.

Legend of Love by Lisa Kessler is the second book in the Muse Chronicles series. If I were to make a comparison with the previous book. I would have to say this my favourite.

What the story is about.
Legend of Love is Callie O’Connor’s story. Callie is a woman of adventure, but when the muse epic poetry came alive within her, her life was never the same. To escape the effects of what her muse does to her she moved across the country and took a job as a civilian psychologist for the Navy while leading her sister muses in their quest to reopen the Theatre of the Muses. She is determined to stay single and made a pact to remain dateless and single until the theatre was completed. However, she never counted on meeting Hunter Armstrong, a Navy Seal, who is determined to break down her barriers and do his best to protect her from the evil at hand.

The Story
The story picked up from where book one left off. The threat to the muses is not over. Instead of weakening, it intensified. The Order of the Titans are determined to put an end the inspiration of this generation, that means killing the muses, and Callie is on their radar.
The story began on a strong note and maintained that pace to the end. We learn more about The Order of the Titans. Based on their actions, I would say they are fanatics, which makes them deadly. However, I found them to be inefficient in their quest to kill the muses.
The theme that intrigued me most about this series was how Greek mythology was incorporated with present day events. The intensity of the action scenes kept me glued to the pages. My eagerness to discover how the events would unfold kept me turning the pages.
I loved how the romance unfolded. Callie and Hunters’ connection was instantaneous, which I expected due to the legend surrounding the guardian and his muse. However, the romance developed at a pace that was befitting the characters. I appreciated their attempts at getting to know each other before rushing into the carnal aspect of their relationship.
There was a particular scene which I found emotional. Reading that scene made me feel sad but placed a smile on my face

The Characters
Character development was well executed. Callie’s past is riddled with secrets and as a result, she is scared to get close to Hunter. She believes she would cause heartbreak for any man she gets close to and so getting involved with Hunter was out of the question.
Hunter is a troubled soul. He joined the military to help his family. However, his duty to his country prevented him from sharing in important events in their lives. Added to that, he is struggling with the guilt of leaving behind a team member during his last deployment. Meeting Callie would bring changes to his life in ways he never anticipated.
I loved Callie and Hunter together. He helped her to move past her fears and seize her destiny. With Hunter, she learnt she need not fear who she had become. She helped him to see that he need not feel guilty about his family or his friend.

Conclusion/Recommendation
I thought this was a great addition to the series. I can’t wait to see what next the author has in store for this series.

Muses are daughters of Zeus in Greek mythology. There’s a group out to get all the muses and wipe them out. The group- Order Of The Titans wants to stop muses from bringing any good to the world. Although lethal at times this group seem inept. The group is also drilling into the earth’s core through an oil well and trying to get out an even worse group that they believe is there even though there is no proof. Callie is the muse of Epic Poetry in a spiritual way. Callie is also the leader of this generation’s muses. At eighteen the muse woke up in Callie as she is human.Callie knows about the muse within her and what she must do for the world. Callie is also a psychiatrist and works with the military. Hunter is a Navy Seal and all he needs is for the base shrink to sign off on him so he can go back to his job this is a rougher than normal mission, Hunter’s past mission one of the team got captured and didn’t make it back. So Hunter’s op didn’t end like it was suppose to. Hunter was sent home for some R & R Nut Hunter isn’t sure where home is anymore . Hunter carries guilt from the mission though it isn’t warranted. Hunter is determined to go back and bring him home. Hunter is Callie’s patient and he is smitten with her since he met her. But Callie won’t jeopardize her career and go out with Hunter. Hunter has a birthmark that has started to bother him since he met Callie. He also develops a psychic ability. Each guardian has something to help his muse succeed. Callie also has the desire to be a bit of a dare devil. Her muse awakens an adrenaline junkie in Callie looking who is always looking for the next rush and challenge. That can be detrimental to any relationship she may want to form. Callie keeps most people at arm's length. Hunter’s determination and charm eventually wear Callie’s determination down to push him away. Each muse must connect to her guardian to survive from the group trying to kill all the muses. The last time Callie was involved with a man her muse took over and it ended badly.
I really enjoyed this story a lot. I loved the new twist on muses . This was a quick read. I liked that there was a lot of mythological history in this story. This is also fast paced as well as action packed. This story has: kidnapping, murder, attempted murder, suspense, action, lies, missing teammate, mythological creatures, humor and Navy Seals, and so much more. At times this story was scary and had me on the end of my chair. I think Callie and Hunter make a perfect pair and I was rooting them on. I didn’t want to put this down. I loved Callie’s and Hunters character and I loved the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

Legend of Love by Lisa Kessler
Book #2: The Muse Chronicles
Source: Netgalley and Purchase
My Rating: 4½/5 stars
My Review:

Among the Muses, Callie O’Connor is the one most determined to stick to the “no men” pact she and her sisters struck. The last time Callie got involved with a man, her muse took over and the entanglement ended beyond badly. In fact, it ended so badly, Callie hasn’t even seen her own family in several years. Thankfully, she has the other Muses and their theater.

Hunter Armstrong is a lost man. Since returning from his last deployment, Hunter has struggled with settling back into his life. Through no fault of his own, Hunter is home while one of his fellow SEALs is lost overseas, he hasn’t seen his mother and sister in so long he’s nearly forgotten what they look like, and he doesn’t even have a proper place to live. It’s Hunter’s hope, the shrink he’s been ordered to see will just rubber stamp his paperwork so he can get on with the finding of his lost friend.

Callie is no one’s puppet and if the super-sexy SEAL across from her thinks she’s just going to sign off on his mental health, he’s a damn fool. Hunter may think he’s convincing, but his game is a bit off once he meets Callie. What’s more, following his stilted meeting with her, his birthmark begins to burn and he can apparently fear voices in his head. Yeah, maybe he does need a shrink and maybe a dermatologist to check out that birthmark.

Meanwhile, in the seat of evil (aka Belkin Oil) . . . . .

The followers of Kronos haven’t given up on their mission to kill off all the muses and they’ve singled out Callie as their next target. Before Hunter walked into her life, Callie may have been a far easier target, but Hunter’s abilities, both learned and innate make Callie a far more difficult target. Once she and Hunter take the time to really talk and Hunter understands his new role, it’s just a short step to the two falling for one another. When Hunter and Callie unite, they are force to be reckoned with and even the Kronos group is going to have a hard time getting through either of them.

The Bottom Line: With book two, The Muse Chronicles are really rolling and Hunter and Callie’s story brings them even deeper into the Kronos plot. The Muses were meant to be together and as each Muse collects her guardian, their strength and numbers increase. This only adds to the intensity and sexiness of each read. Really, how can you go wrong with more and more hot men protecting the women Fate brought to them? My only fear for this series is that it may become formulaic and stale: Muse meets hot man, Muse blows man’s mind with the story of guardianship, Kronos group tries to kill Muse, men and Muses thwart the plan, HEA. While this has been fine for the first two books, there is going to need to be threats and plot lines more expansive than this to keep readers interested and coming back for more.

Well this is the second book in this series and I have to say I liked it a bit better than book 1, the hero was a character easy to like, the heroine was not buried in her problems to the point of boring us with angst.

The story moved at a good pace, the threats were just dangerous enough to keep you on edge but not so much that it stressed you out to the point you really felt worse for reading it. The romance was done well, the sex was about right (since too many novels stick a sex scene in every couple of chapters just to add pages).

The return of characters from the previous book was done nicely since I always like that in a series without rehashing the whole story again.

The ending was believable and if I had to nitpick a bit I was waiting for the next couple to at least get to recognize each other but we do get to know who they are so not too bad .

Bottom Line: Still don't really get into the "muse" part of this series but the story still is a good one and the characters were entertaining and I enjoyed reading it so 4 Stars it is.

This is the second book in the Muse Chronicles . This is a great new series and in book two we are introduced to Callie and Hunter . Callie is a psychologist working for the Navy but she is more then that . She is also the Muse of Epic Poetry and the leader of the Muse sisters . The characters are so well written and complex . Callie is a complicated woman who thought that she was all in for the Muses , she has some skeletons in her closet . After loosing her best friend she has closed herself off from finding any kind of love You see her grow more and come into her own as you read the book . Hunter is the man of your dreams . confident , kind of dangerous , he would lay down his own life to keep you safe. But he also has his secrets and you want to hold him tight and pull those secrets out of him . Together they are a force to reckoned with , they will keep you on your toes through out the book . I really loved these characters and really got invested in them as I read
