Valerie was going to be the new girl at central Allegheny for the third time. Transferring schools was never fun let alone a month into your senior year. The Navy had screwed up valerie’s social interaction skills. Relationships had to happen to valerie because apparently she misunderstood how to cultivate them herself. There was only one girl valerie considered a true friend and that was Sienna Aeris. They still tried to keep in touch via social media but life had a tendency to get in the way. She thought of the nightmare she had before her phone went off with a wake up call - the nightmare was of her mother and the fatal accident that had taken her life when Valerie was ten that winter it happened.. When walking to her locker at school she saw Cade - his eyes lit up with recognition. Then he stepped aside to let Valerie pass. Valerie recognized most of the students even knew most of their names. They remembered her clearly Loren said” look who’s back”. The girl had it in for Valerie since Valerie had arrived six years ago. Valerie just wanted to be left alone. Ai there was one person she would attempt to talk to it it was Cade. But that would never happen as Cade seemed to have a no socializing rule of his own. Of the three years valerie had spent with the graduating class cade had never drawn attention to himself. Valerie was a people watcher and cade was her favorite show. Valerie started walking toward her Aunt Marge’s house. Then Valerie suddenly heard her name called from behind her and it was Cade. Cade and Valerie were going to walk home together from school and Valerie can feel cade is good. Valerie got a text from Sienna she was moving close by to valerie. But Valerie hadn’t seen Sienna in seven years even with text and email she hadn’t talked to Sienna in over six months. Valerie then decides to make friends, to go out and party and unknown to Valerie there are a lot of secrets being kept by her friends and family. Strange things seem to be happening. They had powers over at least one element . then valerie comes into her own powers and the dreams that come with them. Including the political stands being taken by adults with elemental powers that will valerie’s life in danger.
I had mixed feelings about his book. I liked the plot. I liked Valerie at first but I think she changed too much she wasn’t a young teen she was almost through HS. Also she changed way too fast as far as i am concerned. This also ended in a cliffhanger and i hate those and that had a little to do with the rating. Definitely a different but interesting read for the most part. I didn’t like Valerie at all at times and thought she acted selfishly. At the beginning Valeria had no real love interest then all of a sudden she has more than she needs. There were also some questions left unanswered as far as I am concerned that should have been addressed. So as I said I had mixed feelings on this book.

Valerie Moore has been sent to live with her aunt after her dad being deployed. She hasn't make any friend, quite a loner because of she has been moving around. So, after live at new town she made up her mind to made new friends. Soon after that, she discover that she has a Elemental power that been pass by her mother that she never knew she has those power.

The story line is okay, and it is well-written but might be it is not my cup of tea, maybe it works on someone else. Usually when there is love triangle, I will having more interest to read it but this been to dragging with having her describing those guys was a bit tiring.

Anyways, thanks for giving the chance to read Elemental Secrets

This was the first book I have read from Elle Middaugh and I was very impressed with her work. From the story line, to the characters, and through all the twists and turns, I fell in love with the story.
The book starts off with a Love triangle. Who doesn't love those. The love triangles make you want to choose one or the other but sometimes you just cannot choose one! Valerie finds herself stuck in an interesting situation with two different crushes... Cade and Holden. Cade is dark and mysterious, but he wants to keep Valerie as a secret friend. You find out why later in the story, but he is nothing but a jerk to her after she finds out why he wanted to keep her a secret. Personally, I don't ever want Valerie to end up with Cade but there is something about him that seems to pull the two of them together. Or maybe I just really like the darkness about him. Then there is Holden... I was team Holden right from the start as he was a gentleman and nothing but chivalrous to Valerie.
I did really like this story, but it was a little too Twilight meets the Elementals for me, but it jumped too quickly into Valerie being an elemental (which was a given) to finding out her grandfather is a powerful elemental who scares the crap out of everyone else in the town. I think this could be flowed better, but I did like the story and want to find out what happens. Question?!? When will book 2 be coming out???

This one is not the average YA paranormal love story I would say it is geared toward older young adults and new adults. I found that story wasn't very clear and bounced around a lot so the plot was confusing and while this one wasn’t my favorite book, it was good enough to make me interested in reading the sequel

I sadly DNF'd this one about 25%. I couldn't get into the story.
