POT LUCK by Kendel Lynn is a fast read; quirky characters in a fast-paced plot that entertains mightily. Loved it.

This is the fourth book in the Elliott Lisbon series as well as two novellas, but the first one I read (or listened to in this case). I had not difficulty following the story of Elli and her friends, but will go back and read the others, as I really enjoyed this book. Elliott is working on her PI license and only needs 4000 more hours of investigative work. She fits in the hours while working as charity director for the Ballantyne Foundation. Their spring fundraiser, The Irish Fling, is sponsoring a corned beef and cabbage cook-off. While looking for her favourite corned beef entry, she stumbles across Chef Carmichael standing over his sister-in-law, Lola with a bloody knife. Lola is also a friend of Elliott and is at the event on her invitation. Chef confesses to the murder and does not want investigation. has her investigating the murder of a local trailer park owner. Elliot knows Chef is not a killer so starts to investigate the crime as well as find the reason why Chef is taking the blame. This plunges Elliot into the chaos of the Carmichael family's affairs as well as learning about the trailer park Lola owns, with all its various renters and issues. Not only is she investigating the crime (without a lot of support from the police), but Lola has left her two pugs to Elliott's boss who is out of town, so she has to keep them until their return. Things are not going well at work either with a lot of animosity between directors. When Lola's daughter, Lucy arrives in town, Elliott tries to mend fences with her old friend who is a PI in Texas. There are several suspects and clues sprinkled throughout the story. Elliott busy investigating all the guest chefs and trailer park renters. This is a relatively short story that moves quickly and I enjoyed meeting the various residents of Sea Pine Island, South Carolina and look forward to finding out more about them as I go back and read the rest of this series.

This is funny and entertaining series. And always has a good mystery attached

A cozy mystery at its finest - fun storytelling, unforgettable characters, and a suspense-filled mystery to get lost in. Such a great book!

This fourth book in the Elliott Lisbon Mystery series lives up to it predecessors by keeping you guessing the entire way through the story as Elliott methodically works to solve a murder, shooting and shady real estate dealings. Being in Elliott's head as she works through her methodology is hilarious at times and down right entertaining at others.
With a cast of quirky secondary characters, there are never dull moments, with snarky Southern mindsets and entitlement mentalities, there is plenty of tension to keep Elliott twisting and turning to please a plethora of individuals and their needs while working towards her PI license by solving the goings-on at the Ballantyne Foundation and on Sea Pine Island. With Elliott's inner monologues and her self effacing mentality, you can't help but love her...she keeps me coming back to read about her OCD and love life worked into whatever mystery befalls the island.
This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

I have been following the Elliot Lisbon series since the beginning. In fact, I believe Board Stiff (Elliot Lisbon #1) was the first Henery Press book I read. I loved the book and Henery Press has become one of my favorite mystery publishers. This fourth Elliot Lisbon mystery has a pair of adorable, roly-poly pugs that Elliot must guard after their owner is murdered and an attempt to kidnap the puppies is made. If cute puppies is not enough to convince you to read Pot Luck, then how about a challenging mystery, a trailer park, chicken & waffles, a dose of humor, and some fun, quirky characters? I thought so. Dive into Pot Luck, or if Elliot Lisbon is new to you, start with Board Stiff.

This is book #4 in the Elliot Lisbon mystery series. This book is a delightful cozy mystery romp. I love the writing style of the author as its both fast paced and full to wit. The sleuth is well developed and kept this mystery lover on my toes throughout. The characters all add to the fun and each is a enjoyable addition to the story. All in all its the perfect blend of cozy fun. Thank you for the advance reading copy which did not influence my review.

My new favorite female and crew! Humorous without being stupid, thrilling without being gratuitously violent, romance without the play-by-play and a mystery that makes sense in the end. Enjoy!

Love Kendel Lynn, great writing and great cozy mystery. I can't wait for more!

Elliot Lisbon is tender and tough, and always wants to help her surrogate parents Edward and Vivi in her role as Director of the Ballantyne Foundation. When their friend Lola asks for her help and ends up murdered Elli is thrust into a timeline to resolve the murder before they return from their current trip. The mystery is excellent, the characters wonderful and the romance perfect. I just love this series!
