I was grateful to receive a free copy of To Tame A Wild Lady. I always enjoy a good historical romance. This book was a little on the slow side for me. Adrian and was a great stand up guy, but I couldn't see what his drawl to Lady Caroline was. Some of the character development with Lady Caroline;s family was also lacing in development. Even with these few shortcomings, I still enjoyed reading this book, and would recommend to friends and family.

To Tame a Wild Lady by Ashlyn Macnamara is the second book in the Duke -Defying Daughters series. It was a well written romance about Caroline who an unconventional woman in her time. She loves riding astride, breaking the rules, hanging out with the men, and basically defies the strictures that are placed on women during this time. She meets Adrian who is hired as the Estate Agent at her family’s estate. Despite the differences in their class or station they are drawn to each other. He loves her just the way she is and although they fight the attraction and the rules, they eventually get together for their happily ever after. The ride getting there may be bumpy, but they work it out.I recommend this book and look forward to reading the next in the series concerning the final daughter Pippa.

A new twist to a historical romance that will add enjoyment for the reader. Caro is a very strong willed woman who constantly pushes the bar on propriety in the era in which she lived. For me it was enjoyable watching the tension and verbal back and forth between her and Adrian. Caro is not your typical women and she is extremely comfortable with herself. This attitude comes across the pages and draws the reader into the storyline.

Adrian is a social stigma with a very solid belief system of working hard and making solid business decisions. His strong moral fiber gets him in trouble and his stubbornness pushes everyone's buttons. What I like about him is that he always puts what's right before what's easy. This is a lesson everyone should learn

The reader will find the interaction between Caro's family members entertaining and her father priceless. With every story, there must be a character the reader doesn't like and of course the character is this story is written to exacting perfection.

For me I felt this story was entertaining but there were a few times it felt a little flat but by no means did it take away from my reading enjoyment.

I give this 4 STARS for showing the reader that male characters can be exciting and full of moral fiber.

She was 'a temptation, a challenge, and utterly off-limits.'

'It is a truth universally acknowledged that a daughter of a duke is raised to believe she can do as she dashed well pleases, which may lead her into all manner of difficulty.' (from To Lure a Proper Lady).
These are words from Lady Elizabeth's pen, and so pertinent to the Duke of Sherrington's second daughter, Lady Caroline Wilde. Caroline refuses to ride side saddle, instead rides astride in a pair of men's breeches. Startling indeed!
Indeed Adrian Crosby's introduction to Caro is on a rainswept day when he mistakes her for a youth attempting to help another youngster who's fallen from a horse.
And yet Caro knows she can't do what she dash well pleases, even though she will give it her best shot. There is only so far she can go to breach the men's only circle of the hunt and she dearly wants to be allowed to ride with the illusive Sir Bellingham who conducts one of the best-known hunts in England. This is Caroline's all important goal--to be allowed to join the hunt.
I am so enjoying these Duke Defying Daughters! I love this family. First we had Elizabeth's story, now we have Caroline's. Caroline, the horse mad hellion whose desires are centred around being able to ride with the hunt something women can't do.
Add to that the fact that the wicked Pendleton is still in the picture, still coveting Caro's horse Bodeccia, bodes no good for Caroline. Introducing into the mix the new land agent for the Duke's estate in Suffolk, Sherrington Manor--a land agent determined to try to get the property back on its feet, even if Caroline's horse training land should revert to being used for crops. Caroline has other plans. She didn't count on the electric attraction between the two.
(After reading this I reread Elizabeth and Dysart's story, To Lure a Proper Lady, the first in the series and enjoyed it just as much the second time around.)
To Tame a Wild Lady is a wonderful roller coaster ride of thwarted desires, mysterious happenings and reluctant duties.

I am voluntarily submitting my review after receiving a NetGalley edition of this book.

This Regency romance features some of the best tropes of the genre--an unconventional and strong heroine who speaks her mind and rebels against the limitations society imposes upon women, a forbidden love that crosses class ranks, a secret parentage that alters the hero's circumstances, and a scandalous past that eventually catches up with our hero. This novel is fast-paced and a quick read, but its primary strength lies in the depth of its character development. Caro and Adrian are complex and multifaceted individuals, and the supporting cast are so life-like that each scene is vividly brought to life and the reader is brought back in time. While easily read as a standalone novel, To Tame a Wild Lady is a wonderful addition to the Duke-Defying Daughters Series.

Engaging story about 2 unlikely people. Adrian the bastard son of a tenant who left his employment to work for Lady Caroline's father, the duke, as the estate agent set sparks off each other from the start. This is the story of their mutual attraction and what happens. It is a very good story

This second book in Ashlyn Macnamara’s Duke Defying Daughters series, To Tame a Wild Lady, is well-written with engaging characters, a great storyline and a fast pace. While there are no explosive, action-packed scenes, I did not miss them. This novel is an excellent example of why I love to read historical romance so much.

Lady Caroline loves riding astride with the wind tossing her curls about her face. Unfortunately, a duke’s daughter is expected to exhibit exemplary decorum, always. Her hoydenish ways get in the way of that much of the time. The new estate agent is the type of man her father would never want her to acknowledge let alone find attractive, but she disagrees. He’s exactly the kind of man she wants.

Adrian Cosby arrives at Sherrington Hall, ready to take up the management of the duke’s estate. The previous steward was embezzling funds, and now it’s Adrian’s responsibility to make sure the property becomes solvent again. What he does not count on is the duke’s hoydenish middle daughter trying to circumvent him at every turn.

Can he remember his station and deny his attraction when the lady is determined to capture his attention?

Lady Caroline’s character is charming in a different way. She is not interested in society. She loves her horses and wants to participate in a hunt desperate, which is not done by gently bred ladies during this history time. I loved her fierce determination to accomplish her goal. Her love for her sisters is endearing. I enjoyed her inner-turmoil over her growing feelings for Adrian. Ms. MacNamara writes with just the right amount of emotion, making me fall in love with Lady Caroline, even though, she is not my favorite character arch. Well done!

Who does not love an underdog? Adrian Crosby’s character fits that description perfectly. He is the son of a tenant and has no knowledge of his father. The steward at the Wyvern estate took him under his wing with the blessing of the late marchioness. Now he has a chance to fulfill a dream by taking the position of estate agent to the Duke of Sherrington. He has a problem. He is vastly attracted to the duke’s middle daughter, Lady Caroline, a hoyden to the extreme. I loved the inner-workings of his mind as he tries to push away the desire he feels for the lady. He is my favorite kind of hero, an honorable man.

Ms. MacNamara’s writing flows smoothly, it is descriptive without going too far, and she writes with plenty of heart. I now plan to read the first book in this series – not sure how I missed it. I highly recommend To Tame a Wild Lady to anyone who loves historical romances. This is one for my keeper shelf!

I want to thank Random House-Loveswept and Netgalley for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

I love the fact that Lady Caroline could care less where Adrian came from or that he isn't born privileged. Though they have to deal with how her father the Duke feels about it all in the end it doesn't matter to her. She loves this great man no matter what. Adrian is so selfless and is always worrying about not only Lady Caroline for Dysarts son. He cares for everyone at the estate and what may happen with them. He is a great character. Lady Caroline is awesome as well she is so progressive and doesn't really care what others think. She isn't afraid to go after the things she like or wants.

I give this book 5 daring kisses...
Happy Reading... Adri

RATED 3.5!!

Adrian Crosby was raised to be an estate manager. He left behind his old position to search for a job at a neighboring estate. While on his way there, Adrian runs into two people in need of help. By saving one of them, he gains said job at the estate. Adrian instantly becomes attracted to the willful tomboy daughter of his employer, Lady Caroline Wilde, but sets out to do his best keeping himself in check around her.

Caroline cares for nothing but doing everything in her power to make sure she is considered for the position of Lord of the Hunt. Although, hunting is for men only, Caroline is certain she can prove her skill and intelligence recommend her as much as any male. When Caroline meets Adrian, she is overwhelmed with feelings. She tries to convince Adrian that they should have a no-strings attached affair, but finds it harder than she imagined. When Adrian loses his position, Caroline is at a loss. She comes to the realization that she feels more than lust for Adrian and sets out to win him back.

I am loving author Ashlyn McNamara's latest series, DUKE-DEFYING DAUGHTERS. The second book, TO TAME A WILD LADY is wicked good fun. Who doesn't like a romance with a head-strong, determined female?!It held even more appeal to me because Caroline was so set in her ways and believed she could do anything despite the strict beliefs of her time making it so only men could participate in sports, have relations outside of marriage, etc... You go girl! Adrian is a whole other story. Mystery surrounds him. He's stalwart and faithful to be sure. The interaction between Adrian and Caroline had me on edge for days. It was exciting to see who would give in first. TO TAME A WILD LADY is a satisfaction guaranteed read!

Lady Caroline Wilde, known as Caro, was a woman who didn't like to follow rules, starting with her own clothes.
Known as a rebellious daughter, in a good way, she and the new land manager of her father, Adrian Crosby, didn't get along at first, but soon Adrian learns to deal with her, mainly because he has the support of her father , The Duke of Sherrington, to face her when she was too stubborn about business matters.
The duke's eldest daughter, Lizzy, married, was the one who handled finances.

Adrian was an excellent administrator, having learned everything he knew while working in the lands of the Marquess of Wyvern, but for private matters, which Adrian did not want to tell the duke, he had to leave his former job.

Now Adrian would have to deal with Snowley Wilde, heir to the duchy; Dysart, Lizzy's husband and Caro herself.

When certain secrets of Adrian's past come to light, and when Caro is stubborn to take part in a horse race allowed only to gentlemen, the two didn't imagine that more than problems, they would have a strong attraction to deal with ... and to accept it.

To Tame A Wild Lady by Ashlyn Macnamara is a wild ride. A proper lady and an improper estate agent. A woman mad for horses and riding with no desire to be wed. A bastard with no family, but an upbringing allowing him to make a living. She wants to ride and hunt and he needs to sow and harvest the fields. Together they are fire, when in reality they should be servant and lady. Together they solve a couple of puzzles and set fire to their love. Lady Caroline Wilde and Adrian Crosby… To bad they can be together.

Loved it! I especially loved that the heroine was an equestrian, and all the horse-related details felt so real, true, and well-researched. The writing was captivating and the hero and heroine sympathetic and believable. Well done! I look forward to more books by this author.

To Tame a Wild Lady is an enjoyable read, but one I do not feel will be too memorable. It's a light read to get you through a rainy afternoon.

Lady Caroline takes the lead, as the Wilde sister to be tamed! She's used to riding horses astride, wearing pants and wants to join the hunt. She's independent and doesn't wish to marry and conform to a husband's dictates; but her father wishes her to marry a peer! Adrian arrives to apply for the estate agent position He hasn't title nor money, but he's the first man to affect Lady Caroline!
Entertaining, laugh aloud romantic historical! Enjoyed revisiting Sherrington Manor and all it's quirky cast. Romance, mysteries, secrets and well written characters equals an enjoyable read!
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book thru Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review.

A fun twist on the usual Regency highborn-heroine-falls-for-equally-highborn-hero-who-doesn't-know-it tale, Lady Caroline and her estate agent, Adrian, just can't seem to stay away from each other. Multiply that by a scheming marchioness, buried treasure, and a lord determined to get his hands on a horse, and it all adds up to a rollicking good read. Highly recommended.

'To Tame a Wild Lady' by Ashlyn Macnamara is book Two in the "Duke-Defying Daughters" series. This is the story of Lady Caroline Wilde and Adrian Crosby. I have read the previous book "To Lure a Proper Lady" but feel this can be a standalone book. Adrian is a bastard son but was raised with an education. Now Adrian is working as and estate manger for her father. Caro wants only to work with her horses and to train them. Adrian who is trying to help her father get his estate back in good standing feels they need to plant the fields. But these two have to come together to work to help her father. Both are attractive to each other but Adrian feels that Caro isn't for him.
This was another great story by Ms. Macnamara! "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

ARC copy provided by publisher. All opinions and review are solely my own -- none influenced my love for the book except the author's talent!

Any time I pick up one of author Ashlyn Macnamara’s books, I can be assured of an interesting, hot and spicy read.

Lady Caroline Wilde (I’m sure her last name is intentional!) is the second daughter of a duke. Her father has closeted himself away for close on ten years, since the death of his beloved wife. Therefore, allowing his daughter to be quite the wild thing without his censure. She loves the country life, the freedom it provides her, and horses. More than not, you will find her in breeches riding astride over her father’s lands.

Lady Caroline chafes at being a duke’s daughter. Why should the ton have anything to do with how she wants to live her life? Her biggest dream is to ride her beloved champion horse in Earl Bellingham’s fox hunt. Unfortunately, they don’t allow women to hunt with them. Her logic is why shouldn’t be allowed if she proves her expertise with a horse? After all, aren’t mares allowed to hunt and female hounds? Why should her gender prevent her when she can outhorse any man in the county? Such is the fighting spirit of Caro.

Adrian Crosby, the new estate agent, meets Caro at her very worst, as society would measure her. She’s in boy’s breeches and covered with mud. She’s just located Gus, an eleven-year-old, who doesn’t understand the word 'no'. He had decided to go our riding, even though he does not seat a horse well. Mimicking Caro’s hedge and wall jumping, he tries to jump a trench, his horse slips, he’s thrown and Gus falls and is unconscious. Caro finds him but is unable to pick him up. Along Adrian comes, on his way to the manor for a job interview, and gets everyone back to the manor, the very one he will be working.

Adrian Crosby is running from past problems in his previous work, and never feels he measures up. He was educated somewhat by the marchioness of Wyvern and had worked alongside its estate agent. From outward appearances, his manner bespeaks a gentleman. His clothes set him apart, however. This inconsistency peaks Caro’s curiosity and eventually sparks fly. Caro is both stubborn and spoiled, giving her the mindset she shouldn’t be denied what she wants. Adrian would have his woman no other way.

Major Obstacles:
• Lady Caroline can’t chase a man, especially when she must marry someone of her station.
• Adrian can’t possibly reach above his station to consider Lady Caro. He would only ruin her.

Their attraction must be denied. In this, they are both in cages; Lady Caro’s is gilded, Adrian’s is being born on the wrong side of the blanket.

Snowley Wild, the duke’s nephew, who provides comic relief to this tale, is to inherit the estate and spends much of his time at the manor. He’s something of a dimwit, at least it appears that way, is socially incompetent, and generally is just tolerated because of his future dukedom. He is seen often posing for Pippa, Caro’s younger sister, who has a passion for sketching.

A story of strong emotions where two people from different stations in life can find true love when so many forces are against them. Can Lady Caroline fight for what she wants? Can Adrian let this woman go, knowing he loves her, but he is only a curiosity to her? You will not want to miss this series. Engagingly written, with a sensual and demanding heroine, who finds her match in Adrian.
