It felt like two stories in one. We get Roman and Lexi plus the bonus of Brian and Georgia.
Lexi happens to be the half sister to Gray and the daughter to Brian. She comes to Raleigh to get to know her family but here she meets Roman as he's a player of her Brian and Gray's team.
" . . . I hate to lay this on you, and as you can see, my life is a little tumultuous right now. Maybe you should walk-or run-in the opposite direction."
Lexi ends up in the crossfire of politics when it comes to Roman and the team. I liked the fact that this story had a strong heroine who wasn't bitchy. Instead she just had strength and independence which to me made her much more likeable.
"Now why would I do that?" I ask her seriously. "Do you know how long I've been searching for a woman who can play the ukulele?"
"I'm killing two birds with one stone. We need to talk about Lexi and I'm tired of waiting for you to ask me out. You move at the speed of molasses and I'm not getting any younger."
I like this series and will continue to read it.
The Carolina Cold Fury is one of my favorite series. Roman’s book was a bit different because it is told from three POV’s. At first I wasn’t sure I cared to have Brian’s POV but his were few and the book truly focused on Roman and Lexi. If you haven’t picked up this series yet...do it! You won’t be disappointed.
Roman Sykora is a Czech man who has worked his butt off to be a strong enforcer in the NHL and has never had to answer to anyone. Lexi is the opposite of Roman in so many ways from her upbringing to her outlook on life. Roman is drawn to Lexi as she is not chasing after him and she is not a puck bunny. Their relationship has strained from outside factors such as her new family that she has recently connected with.
Roman was so sweet and I loved how this playboy feel so hard for Lexi.
Can't wait for more Cold Fury!
I know I said it when I reviewed Max earlier this week, but I still can't believe I've let myself get this far behind in the Cold Fury Hockey series. I still have TWO books to read before I'm caught up! The only good thing about that is that I'm getting to discover these books for the first time while waiting for the next books to be released. I am enjoying that part.
Roman is probably my favorite book boyfriend of the bunch. I know, it's been ages since I read the others so I'm probably forgetting some of the finer points and swoons the other guys delivered... but still. He was amazing. Bad boys don't always do it for me, but this one certainly did. Of course, there was a whole lot hidden under that bad boy exterior. I absolutely adored Lexi, too. She was a great heroine and it was easy to cheer her on as she met her father for the first time and explored things with Roman. And Lexi's dad, Brian? I loved him. He totally accepting of Lexi and it was such a great bonus to watch him fall in love, too.
Roman (the book) felt a little different than some of the other Cold Fury Hockey books because it delivered a delicious slow burn AND a bonus romance and I loved it. It was smart, sexy, sweet and even emotional at times with the romance and the new family dynamic.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

"I like that. You moaning my name. Let's see how many more times I can get you to do that."
This is my absolute favorite of the series (at least so far!). I want more of Lexi and Roman. Great chemistry. I really liked how everything developed. Just the right amount of angst and drama with plenty of humor and likability of the hero and heroine. Perfect!
Sawyer Bennett delivers as usual. She keeps bringing these awesome hockey stories to life that are both sexy and funny and I highly enjoy them. The story was interesting and kept me intrigued the entire time and it was a quick read. This is an author I highly enjoy and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next.
Resolving your past and meeting your future…
A new Cold Fury Hockey story has my kindle heating up and me as well! Every story in this series has featured unique characters and of course, HOCKEY and HEAT! This time out Roman and Lexi are brought together by chance, attraction and so much love…
Roman is the best kind of bad boy. He wreaks havoc on and off the ice but he does it with an honesty and wry take on life that endeared him to me right away. As he falls under Lexi’s unknowing spell, the caring, the tenderness that I knew was lurking under his devil-may-car surface came out to play… Lexi is nervous, excited and all things in between as she hopes to connect with her new-found father and sister. If that wasn’t life-altering enough, Roman is a threat to her already vulnerable heart…
I love this series. That is the best “not kept” secret around. We all have problems – work, family, life – and Sawyer Bennett showcases them perfectly in the backdrop of the NHL with the many different ways in which love brings people together. Roman and Lexi’s story, every sizzling moment, every heart-breaking pang had me devouring each page much too quickly. So many favourite scenes, moments, but one with my favourite song had me sniffling, I won’t lie… Sigh…
When it was over, I didn’t want to admit it but… Thank goodness for ‘Go To’ Beginning…
I have to first say that Sawyer Bennett has become one of my go to authors because not once has she disappointed me with any stories she has written. This series has been one of my favorite series from any author that I have read. She knows how to write about sports, then she adds the perfect alpha males, and even the heroine's in her stories are fantastic! This book is Roman and Lexi's story and it was a fantastic read and I would give this a huge 5 stars! This book was different from the others in the series as it has more than 2 main characters. All the characters have there own POV's in this story which I thought was brilliant! I love getting to see in the minds of each individual the story focuses on.
Lexi and Roman both have pasts but they are both trying to move forward, there will be some obstacles, but can they make it through and come out better in the end?
I am so excited to get Brian's story in this book it felt like it was a great piece to include because of him being the big man/owner of the team it was only right to give him a POV and a love story of his own! You will love how his love falls into place.
Get to one clicking to see what happens in this great story and if your like me the anticipation of the next book Lucas has you biting your nails!
I wasn't able to finish this book as it didn't connect with me. Thank you for letting me try it out though.
I enjoyed this book. It was not my favorite of the series but I did like it. Roman was rather tame for being labeled as such a bad boy. I would have like to see some of that bad boy come out. I liked Lexi, she was such a carefree person.
I liked Gray from her books in the past however I was not a fan of her in this book. I did like that we got to know Brian Brannon in this book. For him being the owner of the team we never really saw much of him.
Loved this so very much!!! Roman and Lexi were awesome! They had the most endearing, infectious personalities ever and they made me ridiculously happy! This was such a sweet, wonderful story that was flirty and fun and I couldn't get enough. Amazing read!
The characters were fantastic. I adored Lexi. She had such a great personality and I liked her spunk and how she could hold her own in the banter department. Roman, I am so in love with this guy! He’s this fun trouble maker and it’s so adorable, but he’s so much more than the bad boy people see. Watching him fall for Lexi was amazing. There were just so many sweet, swoon worthy moments and underlying feelings of emotion happening, it was just the best. There was such an ease to the two of them getting to know each other that seemed so genuine, I couldn’t help but love it.
This story totally packed a punch because I felt like it was two stories in one. I loved the secondary story that was intertwined, honestly it made me ridiculously happy because everyone deserves a happily ever after. It's a unique situation that was introduced as Lexi joins the Cold Fury world but I love how it played out. There's conflict between some characters and tensions run high creating drama, I couldn't wait for that story to be resolved.
I was happy while reading because the characters just had a wonderful, positive vibe happening. The writing was great. Excellent build and details. I hung on every word and couldn't turn the page fast enough. I thought it was an amazing read. Love the story and the details but most of all I loved the feeling of happiness from these genuinely awesome characters. This series has quickly become an absolute favorite of mine, I highly recommend it.
Oh Roman! Another Cold Fury hottie from Sawyer Bennett!! Really enjoyed this bad boy getting knocked off kilter by his boss' daughter. Family is not something Roman has much experience with, and neither are relationships. So when he meets Lexi, a girl who is trying to connect with a father and a sister she never knew, this becomes a struggle he has to find a way thru. I really enjoyed this coupling. There was good conflict between both Roman and Lexi and her new sister Grey. I loved how SB told it not only from Roman and Lexi's pov, but also from Brian (Lexi and Grey's dad). The bonus relationship between Brian and Georgia was delightful as well. Just a great addition to this series!!
I kind of feel like a broken record every time I read and review a book in this series. This is probably one of my most favorite series. And I will honestly say that this is probably not a 5 Star read on most folks scales but for me it is. I’m a huge hockey fan and I have absolutely LOVED that every story and every character is different. I don’t feel like I’m reading the same thing over and over again. I also love that the last couple of books have been really low angst – this one may have been the lowest of the series. And I know I’ve said this about practically every character but I think Roman may be my favorite.
Roman is a player. He is an enforcer on the ice. He is completely unapologetic about both. He didn’t have the best family life and is pretty detached and emotionally untouchable. Everyone thinks he’s an a$$hole and he may be but as soon as he meets Lexi he becomes a big sweet, soft, lovable teddy bear. AND. I. LOVE. THAT. He and Gray go head-to-head a bit in this book and I was extremely disappointed with her behavior and surprised at this side of her. She fixes that…but it takes a while.
Lexi is quirky, funny and pretty happy. She’s also unapologetic about being herself. She brings a pretty big secret to the table which added 2 subplots that were unexpected and completely wonderful. I won’t say anything about that other than we see a lot of Gray, Ryker and Brian Brannon (Gray’s dad) in this story.
This is definitely one of my favorites of the series and I highly recommend it and the entire series! Bring on Lucas!
3.5 - 4 Stars
Roman is another enjoyable addition to Sawyer Bennett's Cold Fury Series. I always love reading a book written by Sawyer Bennett, she knows how to get the perfect mix of emotions during her stories.
I will be honest and say that Roman wasn't my favorite of this series. There is one main reason why, and that is that I thought one of the side plots kind of took away from Lexi and Roman's story. I loved the storyline for Lexi, but I don't think the side romance between Brian and Georgia was necessary. I felt the story lost focus on the main couple of Lexi and Roman.
Other than that, I really enjoyed this read. I loved Lexi...she was sassy and spunky. I really enjoyed that she did what she wanted without the influence of others. Roman was an arrogant and bossy man, but boy it was done right. There wasn't one time I didn't like Roman. I will say I didn't really like the way Sawyer portrayed Gray in this book. I remember her being nicer in Ryker's book and in this one she came off snotty and mean. Kind of underhanded.
I would recommend this book to all my friends and anyone who loves a sports themed storyline. It is hockey based but I loved that it isn't over done with too much hockey jargon. Just the right amount of drama both on and off the ice ;)
Roman is a complete standalone with NO cliffhanger. It can be read in any order. The only other characters that overlap from the other books is Brian, Ryker and Gray. And you don't have to read Ryker's book to enjoy this one. I will say that this is a series that everyone should read.
I look forward to the other books in this series to come.
I received a ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Roman is the seventh book in the Cold Fury Series. It follows Roman who is a bad boy on the team and Lexi, who a year previous had lost her mother. We also get a chapters from Brian Brannon, Gray Brannon's father. Brian turns out to be Lexi's father, her mother never told Brian that he fathered her daughter. So once Lexi's mom dies, she wants to finally meet her father and sister, so she won't be as alone. I loved Lexi, she is probably my favourite heroine in this series! If you love the Cold Fury Series you will fall this book!!! I can't wait to read Lucas!!
Love this seriies. Another great installment to a series very dear to my heart. Can't wait for the next one.
I love this series! Roman was an interesting kept my attention amazing!
4.5 Stars!! I am a huge Sawyer Bennett fan and this one did not disappoint! Loved the characters! Lexi is simple and fun; loved that about her! Roman is complex and a hot-head! The storyline was brilliant! Loved it! Definitely recommend this book!
***4 "Family or Love???" stars***
It's a common secret that i love the "Cold Fury" series, but I have to admit that my biggest love is for the first four stories...
After those, I wasn't so fond to read about the rest of the players, maybe i was a little bit tired, but every time, at the end, i was changing my mind and I was happy that i continue reading for those hot players...
And, hell yes, Roman's story was also very good!!!!
Roman was a troublemaker inside and outside the ice... He didn't care for what they were saying about him and his lifestyle, even though that he was facing problems with the management of the team because of his crazy behaviour....
Lexi was about to make a big step in her life since she was about to claim a father and a sister after many years without any of them... So, she has to focus there, but love unexpectedly comes to her life...
Roman and Lexi felt an attraction since the first time they met and they wanted to know each other better, but there were some complications that were standing between them...
Will they manage to overcome all the obstacles that are standing in their way???
Will Roman change his ways in life, not only for Lexi, but for his team also???
Will Lexi choose love above family??? Or the opposite???
I really liked both Roman and Lexi...
They had a great connection between them and they did only good to each other...
Roman was different with Lexi... He was a little bit misunderstood character and i really liked what we discovered about him...
Lexi from the other hand was the joy of life... She just wanted a family, somewhere to belong and she was so damn happy for that.... I really loved her character.... She was so sweet and generous...
I also loved in this book, Brian....
God, he was such a discovery!!!! I knew from book four that he was a very good dad, but here he gave his all!!!!
And i loved the romance between him and this crazy woman, Georgia!!!

Sawyer Bennett never disappoints - she brings romance, angst, hot as hell sex and sports all to a head in this installment of Cold Fury!
Roman is Cold Fury's badboy player that's usually making headlines with his gives-no-shit attitude and penchant for causing trouble. Even being threatened with suspensions and being dropped from the team hasn't changed him. When he meets free spirited Lexi Robertson, though, he realizes that he can't keep going on without caring about rules. He wants her in his life, but Lexi has brand new family drama taking over her world and there may not be room for Roman. Unless he can change her mind.
This book felt really different from the others in the series, and I liked the change. Roman and Lexi's characters were very likable and they didn't have any drama between them. I loved that once they accepted that they wanted each other there wasn't much that could keep them apart.
Lexi was a fun heroine to read about because she was just so comfortable in her life. She didn't need much to make her happy and it made me smile to see her so excited over small things. She was the perfect girl for Roman who needed to learn how to relax some, and I liked seeing the changes she brought out in him. Once they were together there was barely even a mention of his playboy ways which I really liked.
