"I really like you because you're a guy that got charmed by a girl who plays a ukulele in a coffee shop for tips and who is very happy with that existence."-Lexi
This is the 7th book in the series. Roman is the unapologetic bad boy of the Cold Fury hockey team. The moment he sets eyes on Lexi, he knows she's different. He's never been one to make connections or become close with anyone before. But he realizes that he just never met anyone who made him want to do that.
The book jumped right in with them being attracted to each other and dating. She's his bosses' daughter/sister so a few conflicts arise, but overall it's pretty smooth sailing, drama free, and pretty romantic. There was the added bonus of Gray's dad (from a previous book in the series) falling in love right alongside the main couple. I loved Brian and Georgia together! They needed their own book!
I wanted a little more build up and character development. I thought Roman mended his bad boy ways quite easily considering his reputation! I wanted a few more feels, maybe some angst, but this series isn't really about that. It's about these hot hockey players who are able to find that ONE woman who can tame them. It's a formula that works if you are looking for a fun, pretty quick sweet read!
This is the seventh book in the Cold Fury Hockey series and one that I enjoyed reading immensely. The characters were well written and the storyline was enthralling. Roman was a great man that just needed to feel loved and if he lets Lexi in he can have the family he has never had. I’m not saying he doesn’t have a family but him and his parents really didn’t understand him. Now as for Lexi she never knew her father but right before her mother passed away she learned that not only did she know who her father was but she also had a sister. There was only one problem Gray doesn’t like sharing her father that’s not the only problem she has a little personal problem with Roman. Towards the end of the book they are going to have to put their differences aside in order to be able to speak and see Lexi. But Roman and Lexi are not the only two people that are falling in love you also have Georgia and Brain that seem to have the hots for each other.
I totally recommend this read!!!

This was my least favorite in the series. I found Lexi and Roman to be pretty boring. I was way more invested in the side romance that Gray’s dad had going on. I would have read a whole book with those two.
I've read almost all of the books in this series and I've enjoyed all of them. I also just generally love this author. I have to say though, of all the books in the series, this one is my least favorite. The author went in a slightly different direction in including a lot of contextual information about Lexi's family and I think it just undercut the story of Roman of Lexi.
Roman is the NHL bad boy who is being forced to make a decision between cleaning his act up or becoming a permanent resident of the bench. And maybe Roman could've been one of the Cold Fury characters that I really love but his personality flaws just didn't work for me. Roman came across as kind of immature. He would engage in ridiculous antics. He then refused to accept valid criticism about his behavior just because he couldn't let anyone know that they had authority over him. I just found this 'rebel without a cause' act to be annoying as hell. I did appreciate that Roman grew over the course of the book but his reasons for sometimes not growing were stupid.
Roman plays for the Cold Fury and first meets Lexi when both of them are waiting on appointments in the Cold Fury offices. Lexi's reasons for visiting the offices are nothing like Roman's. As it turns out, Lexi is the daughter of the Cold Fury owner. A fact she did not learn until her Mother passed away recently and told her. Lexi is at the offices to meet her Father for the first time. For those of you who have read past books in this series, you know that this turn of events makes Lexi Gray's little sister. That was an interesting twist.
Lexi is offbeat and quirky and Roman likes her instantly. Lexi is the kind of outspoken character that I normally really like as well. Lexi actually likes herself and she isn't the type to take any crap. Roman and Lexi connect with one another pretty quickly but I have to tell you, it felt like something was missing from their story. I'm not sure exactly what it was but even the sex was a little meh. Ok, so I think what happened is that the author tried to put a whole second story into this book. The book actually alternates between the POVs of the two main characters but also includes Lexi's Father and his love interest. Gray (who I like from her book) was less than fun in this book which I also found distracting. Just overall this book was good but not as good as the others in terms of the strength of the romance.
The latest installment in Sawyer Bennett's hockey series is a page turner. Packed with sexy hockey players, family drama and a few secrets this story is not to be missed! I'm already waiting for the next installment.
Another out of the park book by Sawyer Bennett. Can this women do no wrong? I LOVED Roman!!
Like all of her other books, Sawyer Bennett has delivered another great story. I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry in this book! Hot!
While this one doesn't have the big emotional upheaval that some of the earlier Cold Fury books does, there is still a lot of good feelings going on here. And I for one enjoy an angst free romance from time to time :)
Roman may be a troublemaker but he isn't a bad guy. He just enjoys life in a big way and it occasionally causes some waves. From the moment he meets Lexi, though, things are different and with a little faith he proves himself to be a worthy boyfriend.
It takes a lot of guts for Lexi to come to NC and confront Brian with her news. We know that he's a fantastic dad to Gray and he proves that he's a genuinely good guy by immediately accepting Lexi into his life. Unfortunately it's a little harder for Gray to accept, but Lexi has such a warm and upbeat personality that she quickly wins her over. Unfortunately the tension between Gray and Roman intrudes on Lexi's life and causes a bit a trouble. But she's a smart girl and with a little help quickly figures things out.
I think the most fun thing about this is that we also get Brian's POV here - he not only finds out that he has another daughter but thanks to Lexi he might also find a woman who can liven up his life. He's gotten a little buttoned up over the years and he needs the shake up that he has coming! It's super sweet and brings a little extra joy to the story.
Some family drama and a couple of romantic entanglements make Roman a great Spring read. It perfectly shows off Bennett's smooth writing style and knack for creating fun-to-read characters. I'm excited to see what she brings us next!
This story is an example of why the Cold Fury series is one of my favorite series of all time. A little different from the previous stories, as it involves the owner's long lost daughter so you have that point of view. This is a great story and I can't say enough of how much I enjoyed it. So worth the loss of sleep to read this story.
Favorite Scene
“I like action movies. Even the older ones.”
“I like chick flicks,” she says with a grin. “What’s your take on them?”
“That you should never ask me to watch one with you,” I tell her adamantly.
Roman, the seventh in Bennett’s sexy contemporary hockey series, gives readers a fun, sexy, lightweight romance when the bad boy of hockey, Roman Sýkora finds happiness with a laid-back ukulele playing barista, Lexi Robertson. While this was good, it was not my favorite. I’ve noticed the last few books in this series have changed. Softer edges and less conflicted characters has created a simplistic story in both evolution and resolution.
Roman and Lexi couldn’t be more different but like two puzzle pieces, they fit together nicely. Each adds and fills in where the other needs it. Both are intelligent, loyal, hard working, witty and lack of the usual emotional baggage that often fuels the tension and must have misunderstandings in romances. Lexi is a wee bit too perfect and at times I really wanted to see some flaws, any flaw, that would make her more approachable but instead Bennett focuses on the other characters flaws. Lexi becomes the savior of the story, finding a solution to everyone’s problems. Relaxed humor and the steamy chemistry pops throughout the story, creating a solid base for these two to work from. Lexi’s confidence and easy going outlook on life is the perfect foil for Roman’s more competitive and edgy nature.
The storyline is relatively straightforward, even with the multiple subplots and the addition of a second romance. Seamless writing and engaging dialogue make for a smooth and steady ride. Dual points of view allow readers a more intimate look into Lexi and Roman’s relationship and the mild external irritations that have resulted because of it. I like how open and honest Roman and Lexi are with one another and the people around them. Neither played games and have no communication issues. Lexi’s inclusion into the Brennan family helps to bring Roman’s issues into the open and also initiates Brian Brennan’s own romance. Bennett does well with all three plotlines; each given the time and effort they deserve.
Sawyer Bennett offers readers a pleasant respite from the daily grind. I looking forward to reading more about the Cold Fury team and the next hockey player to score the winning goal at the game of love.
Grade: C+
Roman, sexy hockey player, Lexi well she's a sweet girl who makes her appearance within the Cold Fury group but I'm not giving away why! This book was amazing as always with Sawyer, I love her hockey hotties, she writes great stories with all her heart! You need to read this one, it's that good and you will not only love Roman, you will fall in love with Lexi!! 5+ stars for this one!!
After realizing this is in a series, I've purchased the first books in the series on audiobook. I'll review each on my way through the series and then finish with Roman. They'll be posted on audible.com and our blog, and promoted through twitter and Facebook. I'll tag the author.
DNF at around 40%.
I didn't feel invested enough in the romance to continue. I needed to feel something for the characters. Unfortunately, Roman and Lexi felt very generic and bland. I couldn't muster any empathy for them to invest in their romance.

The boys of the Carolina Cold Fury are back! Can we all jump for joy?! Seriously, this is one of my absolute favorite series and I just can’t get enough. Of course I have my favorite Cold Fury men, Ryker and Alex being at the very top, but lately Sawyer Bennett has been giving them a run for their money with Max and now Roman. Who doesn’t love a bad boy hockey player? Especially a HOT Czech one? Roman is the latest installment in the Cold Fury series, and while it is book 7, it can be read as a complete standalone just like its predecessors. The story here feels fresh, the characters are a true opposites attract story, and the obstacles that they face are fierce.
Lexi Robertson is in Raleigh to meet her Dad, Brian Brannon and her half sister Gray, but before either of those happen, she meets Roman. The hockey player with the bad rep. One who happens to be in very HOT water with Gray Brannon. The attraction is instant but given the reason that Roman is in the Cold Fury office makes for an interesting set up.
I really enjoyed this one. I felt like there were two stories in one, and with a surprise 3rd POV. Ms. Bennett doesn’t disappoint with this latest hockey romance and I definitely got more than I bargained for. I loved the romance that was set around Roman and Lexi, but I mostly loved the story around Brian, and all of the time we got to spend with Gray and Ryker. Well done Sawyer Bennett, well done. I cannot wait for more!
I truly enjoy all Sawyer Bennett books.. Her writing is superb and the characters come to life
4.5 Seeing Someone for Who They Really Are Stars
This is book seven in this series and it just keeps getting better and better. I'm so in love with the Cold Fury I don't think I'll ever get enough of them! This book is different from the previous books because we've got a couple of love stories going on....Roman and Lexi and Lexi's Dad Brian Brannon has his "day in the sun" so to speak with Lexi's boss Georgia!
Roman is your typical hard playing hockey player both on and off the ice, but when he meets Lexi, there's a draw between the two of them that he's never felt before. He's not sure what to do with it, but he knows he wants her and he'll do whatever it takes to get her in his bed. To say that Roman hasn't ever had to work for the chance to be with a woman is putting it mildly. He's got a reputation that's led to quite a few stories about him in the newspaper, but there's just something about Lexi he can't deny and when he finally faces the fact that he wants her love and attention, watch out!!!
There isn't anything about this book I didn't like. I loved the Dual POV, I loved Brian's POV and his new budding romance with Georgia. I even respected Gray's reluctance to trust Lexi from the get-go. There's fog up your windows sex, laughter and even some heartache in this book and I think this one just might be my favorite of the entire series!
Roman is the next book in the Cold Fury series. I'm a huge fan of Sawyer Bennett and her hockey heroes are some of my favorite sports heroes. Roman is the ultimate bad boy on and off the ice. He's a fighter and a lover and both of these things are what got him into hot water with his boss, Gray. He needs to clean up his act on and off the ice. So when he meets a sweet and sexy barista who has a killler, smoky voice and plays the ukulele, he might be down for the count. Lexi is perfect for him. She's funny, a little dirty and knows who she is. She's not a puck bunny and she's not after his money. He can't seem to find anything wrong with her except she's Gray's long lost sister. Lexi doesn't want to get in between them, there has to be a line from business and pleasure. But, can Roman leave what happens at work at the rink or will it bleed over into Lexi's relationship with her sister? Lexi's caught in the middle and she doesn't like it. Will Lexi finally have enough and tell Roman to take a hike? Will Roman let her go? I loved this story! Roman and Lexi are so great! They are the perfect couple. Sweet, dirty and fun together! And the accent? Be still my heart! I also loved seeing Brian have his own POV so we got to see how he feels about his new daughter and her attractive boss. It's about time Brian gets some action! He's sexy! Overall, this is a great love story about new beginnings, family, loyalty, love and friendship! Bring on Lucas!
"I don't have sex on the first date. Well, not always. Sometimes. It depends on how it goes."
Jesus, fuck…is she kidding me? Please tell me she's not kidding me.
"I think my ovaries just exploded."
"Sounds like a dire situation," I whisper back. "Think we should go back to my house and take care of that?"
"I think that would be good."
Oh, Roman. The stereotypical party boy that needs to tame his ways, both on and off the ice, if he wants to stay on with the team. He happens to meet and have an instant attraction to the most unlikely girl. Both because of her looks not being his usual go to, and also because she’s related to the boss. I really wanted to like this book more than I did. In the end, although it was a fast read, I think it would be more of a just okay for me story.
I liked Roman’s character quite alright. I mean, there was nothing that stood out to me to make him memorable. But he was cute when he needed to be. Even if some of it was out of place with his original persona. He didn’t really seem to fight his attraction to Lexi much, which I was hoping he would a bit. The big conflict was his strain with Gray. I just thought that was a bit too simplistic.
Lexi, though, I had some issues with. Not as a character, I actually liked her. But the whole thing about who she is and how that is received and addressed. It might’ve all been a little too easily accepted in my opinion. I jusut kept waiting for more and that never came.
ROMAN is a fast and simple read. Not my favorite in the series by any stretch. But it’s romantic and sexy, so if you’re in the mood for something quick and fun then you can give this series a try.
This series keeps getting better and better! While this series revolves around the same set of characters l, each story, each plot, each character, is so different than the last that you can't help but beg for more. This book was no different!

Roman is the seventh title, in the Cold Fury Hockey series and focuses on the characters of Roman Sykora and Lexi Robertson.
Lexi Robertson is searching for answers and family. After loosing her mother, the only family she has ever know, she is alone in the world. Lexi is a unique, sassy and incredibly endearing character.
There is alot of family drama in this title. Gray and Brian Brannon the owner/manager father/daughter team make have a strong role in this title. In the previous titles I really liked Gray's character, but she really annoyed me throughout this book.
Roman is an enforcer, he has a reputation both on and off the ice. He is well known for his penalties and playboy behaviors, but off the ice he's really quite a loner and although he's friendly with his team mates, he doesn't create close connections with others.
I really adored the connection between the quirky Lexi and the bad-boy Roman. I enjoyed the honesty that this pair share within their relationship, and the lack of subterfuge.
Roman, is told from multiple points of view. I thoroughly enjoyed the secondary romance of Brian and Georgia, which is a perfect case of opposites attract. I really wanted more of their story, and would have loved if it had appeared as a separate title.
Overall this book has strong themes of family and individual growth, within a sweet, steamy, and angst ridden story line.
I recommend Roman, to anyone who is a fan of the Cold Fury Hockey series, or sports romances in general.
