Duke Williams is a Norman and dead. The lft division of the Norman Knights had broken the division. A chaotic and horrible retreat had begun. The Saxon line remained unbroken. But William was was not actually dead and proved it. William’s forces were fewer but his battle plan was superior and his weapons were more advanced and deadly. The Saxons fought with crude slingshots and desperation. The fought for their homeland and KIng. Then it was true Harold the KIng was dead. Alaric felt no joy he had liked and admired Harold- he felt pain. William did not okay rape and murder but he did promise riches for the men who rode with him and that meant plundering. Then one who would not give up ad Alaik finally conquered the person and then found out it was actually a woman. It was Fallon and Alaric told her to give up she was beaten but she still refused. She was Harold’s daughter by his “ Danish marriage”. She had been a thorn in Alaric’s side since the day he had met her. But standing there he knew she had to be subdued if William was ever to rule England. Alaric told Fallon she was done and his prisoner and her father was dead. Fallon had adored her father and didn’t want to believe Harold was dead. Alaric’s feelings for Fallon were all twisted up. Alaric had met Fallon when she was a child. Alaric and Fallon ended up sleeping together as he tried to comfort her over her father’s death. But all Fallon wants to do is escape.
I liked this story. It had a lot of twists and turns and kept my attention. But in some spots there was just too much historical detail but I will say I did like learning more about the time period. I do believe this book could have been shorter. There was some confusion with the jumping around. This story was well written. But the story did drag at times so I had mixed feelings on this story.

This is an epic tale about love, loyalty and forgiveness. It's captivating and romantic and dramatic. Alaric has closed himself off from love, he is just a warrior now and that is what he'll stay. Fallon is also a warrior, a feisty, bold and unforgiving. It seems that Alaric and Fallon were destined for each other, they have had an amusing hate relationship since she was four. Through the agony of war and choosing allies and friends, they are occasionally in the company of each other. Fallon loves to wreak havoc on Alaric, which he finds amusing when she is a child, not so much when she's a woman. They hate each other personally, and because of their nationalities, but they set off sparks when they are together. This is full of history, of wars between kings, drama and romance. It's a thoroughly engrossing storyline.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. This is my honest opinion of it.

Heather Graham's Princess of Fire is the re-issue of a 1989 historical romance. Very unhistorical and choppily written. Will be popular with readers who like costume romance.

Heat Setting - Hot

Overall Setting - 5/5

Alaric is a powerful, fearless. courageous and brave warrior. He also wants the beautiful princess Fallon. The beautiful woman he saves from certain death. Though she keeps rejecting the handsome enemy warrior. As Alaric is a Viking warrior of William the conquerer and Fallon is the daughter of King Harold of England. Fallon is feisty, gutsy, hot tempered, stubborn, spirited, intelligent and won't put up with rubbish. This book is brilliantly set around Battle of Hastings. Even though they are enemies that won't stop Alaric who plans on setting her on fire with love and will conquer her.

It is getting more and more difficult to reject this handsome warrior although Fallon is determine remembering he is the enemy and foe. Alaric calling her his slave does not help with him being the enemy Norman. No matter how Fallon reacts and you can't blame her with his name calling. In Alaric's mind Fallon belongs to him period. He plans on making her fall in love period. Fallon feels she should defend her country where Alaric only see’s that as a big betrayal ans her way of revenge.

I found it a little slow moving when they go back and show how Kong Harold becomes King and his back history and how William became the Conquerer ! Though I usually enjoy the back history I found this a bit boring on both sides. Also found Alaric a bit conceited and self centered at times feeling he can get any women he wants. I think why he gets so frustrated with Fallon’s rejection, but seriously whi wants to be called slave and degrading names. In the long run Alaric becomes the hero and is actually a good person as enemies become lovers which makes their love lustful, consuming, amorous, passionate as opposites attract and makes more endearing,

Overall this is a wonderful book and is action filled right from the being inning through the end. There is plenty of history the readers and lovers of history and romance will absolutely love. I highly recommend Alaric and Fallon’s story and try to understand both points of views. The setting is perfection, plots are breathtaking wondering what could possibly happen next and dialogues are absolutely breathtaking. It is a book you won't be able to put down and it absolutely amazing!

It has all the elements historical romance readers are looking for. It is fast paced, riveting adventure with true history and fictional romance. Plus mystery, suspense, betrayal, forgiveness, passion, love and more. A definitely book you don't want to miss and endure, as it is a book you will want to read more than once. Absolutely loved this novel!

This is a voluntarily advance ereader given by the publisher through NetGalley. All words, thoughts and ideas are my own.

Ms. Graham certainly knows how to weave an exciting and engaging story. "Princess of Fire" was a battle of wills for Alaric and Fallon for most of their lives. Who would win? Who would submit? However, I did find that the first half of the story was bogged down with way too much historical detail. It was interesting to read about William the Conqueror, but it almost made me stop reading. That's what earned this book 4 stars instead of 5. I wanted to see what happened with our hero and his feisty heroine. It wasn't until I hit the 50% mark that the story began to concentrated on these two. That's when I couldn't put the book down. This book could have been 100 pages less and the story of Alaric and Fallon would have taken center stage throughout the book. All in all, it was a well written and enjoyable book. Fans of historical fiction will like this one.

This is a fantastic book. I couldn't stop reading it. I had to find outnwhat happened next. Fallon was a true warrior princess willing to do whatever it takes to save her country even if it meant sacrificng herself to do so, Strong women exist in all ages and parts of history.

Princess of Fire is an epic medieval romance that is centred around the lead up and fallout of the Battle of Hastings, when the Normans invaded Saxon England. Fallon is the daughter of King Harold – a wild, impetuous princess, who loves England and has hated Normandy since she was a child.

The writing was absolutely gorgeous and the epic scope of the novel allowed me to slowly learn about the characters and their motivations. By the end of the story, I didn’t know which of them was in the right, only that they both had good reasons for their actions. The almost fated love story of Fallon and Alaric is filled with obstacles, but they slowly – sometimes begrudgingly – recognise the true depths of their feelings.

A romantic saga with believable, vibrant characters that seemed to leap off the page, Princess of Fire is a novel that took me by surprise again and again. Graham’s writing soars and Princess of Fire is a testament to her skill.

Characters
Alaric is a noble warrior and despite the hatred Fallon felt for him, it did not deter him from rescuing her time after time.
Fallon is a hellion and spoiled to a degree. She holds deep animosity towards the Normans because of what has occurred in her family.
Storyline
It is written in the third person through Alaric and Fallon’s point of view. It goes back and forth between the present and past. I did appreciate that we saw the reasons why Fallon felt the way she did. However, he did so many things for her yet she held on to that animosity. Also we saw glimpses of her at different stages of her life.
Recommendation
I was slightly disappointed in this book. I love reading historical romance novels but this fell short of my expectations since it involved vikings…

This story is woven in very well with the historical aspects. Fallon is the daughter of King Harold and a Saxon, Alaric is a Norman warrior, both from opposite sides but their attraction can’t be denied. This is a fast paced read with lots of drama. I really liked the story as well as the characters and it does have its steamy scenes. A good read.

My Thoughts:

When Heather Graham's books focused on the historical genre, I couldn't get enough. Now she writes mostly Suspense, a genre that I just don't read. When I saw this historical romance by her on NetGalley I couldn't resist making the request.
I realize the times of William the Conqueror were bloody ones, but for a romance this just had too much violence and too little romance for me.
The imagery was very good but I prefer a more romantic read. The author at a point delves deeply into the history of the times and the history between the hero and the heroine before getting down to their current story and developing relationship. Our heroine frankly hates the Normans and finds them all despicable.
Although this book is well written like all of Heather Graham books that I have read, I just found it hard to get past the violence and bloodletting around the Battle of Hastings.
I gave this book 3.5 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and 3 of 5 flames for heat.
We leave the book knowing maybe more factual history than necessary for a romance novel.
The romantic aspects of the story do heat up at times and lead to a very hot physical relationship although near the start of the book it almost leads to rape.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley to read and review.
This in no way affected my opinion of this title.

This book was very, very in depth. I feel like I got lost a very times. The writing was fantastic but I felt overwhelmed in the beginning. I almost felt like it was a continuation of another book. But once they started falling in love, it got a whole lot better.

Fallon and Alaric have always had a tempestuous relationship ever since the first day they met when they were only children. Against the backdrop of war, power, and death, the heat that flares between them continues to grow even though they are on opposite sides - Fallon a Saxon determined to get revenge for her fellow Englishmen, and Alaric a Norman who will fight to the death to protect those he cares about. As Fallon finds herself as Alaric's prisoner, she constantly defies him for no matter how much she yearns for the man, she can never bend to the enemy. Alaric's past has taught him that women and love can never be trusted, and as Fallon betrays him at every turn, he will do what he must, to protect his heart. But as their fiery relationship develops into more, can they ever really trust each other enough to lay down the weapons between them? With wonderful historical detail and description, PRINCESS OF FIRE by Heather Graham transports you back in time into this hypnotic story of love, passion, and spirit, and I was completely caught up in Fallon and Alaric's lives. With gripping characters, action, danger, passion, and despair, PRINCESS OF FIRE by Heather Graham has it all.

Normans and Saxons are at again in Heather Graham’s Princess of Fire. Alaric had a surprise coming if he thought that the Saxon’s were going to lie down and die quickly without given it they're all. So, he found when after he thought the war was one, there was one warrior who refused to go quietly into the night. But when he unmasked the warrior he didn’t find a Saxon warrior but a Sax Princess.

Fallon didn’t know that her father was dead she didn’t know that the war was lost. She totally refutes that a Norman would be king of her land. She would fight to the death to make sure that England is set free from the Norman invaders.

You could see that Heather Graham did her research when it came time to writing this story. However, it’s all about the romance and not history when I read a romance book. Princess of Fire was full of historical facts which to me overshadowed the romance aspect of the tale. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the book because I enjoying reading about history. But I would have enjoyed it more if Princess of Fire had more interaction between the two main characters and fewer history facts.

Will you bend or break? Alaric & Fallon are both warriors that believe in their battle but they are on different sides. Fallon will do anything for England and she will go into battle to make sure that the norman army never takes England but she is too late. William has taken over with much bloodshed and destruction. Alaric has been with William right from the beginning, he will follow him anywhere but he sees what the battle is doing to the men and all the victims, he just want it to stop.
Alaric doesn't know what to do with Fallon anymore, she has tested him from the very first time he met her, she was a young child then and she got under his skin. She is all grown now and he will need to claim her before another man does. Fallon has though of Alaric through the years, but she to be married and he is a bastard. She will never bend to his way, she will continue to fight him at each turn. Can he wear her down or will it best to send her away for good as he knows that he can't control her? Fallon needs to get away from him as she knows that she is going to be hurt by him as she has fallen under his spell.
Is there hope for them or will this war keep them apart forever? A great interesting story, loved it. Kept me turning those pages. I was lucky enough to get a copy via Netgalley & the publishing in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I really enjoyed this book after I stopped being confused. The first chapters are present time then jumps to the past. I wanted to skip over their history to jump back into the story. I think the story should have just started at the past. Less confusion and the read would pay more attention and just want to get back to the story

There were points in the story where I wanted to kill both the hero and the heroine. Both were so stubborn and prideful. Fallon really irritated me always yearning for the past and not realizing what was in front of her face was so much better. Alaric was just as bad living in the past and making those in the present suffer for it.

History, action, love and hot sex! Great combination! Great writing! Want to read more!

Alaric Count of Anlou is a trusted knight of William of Normandy and he’s became a friend to Harold in the years prior to Harold becoming king of England. The mighty warrior is forced to take sides in a bloody battle for power and glory. Fallon is the fiery daughter of Harold. She and Alaric have a very complicated past from their childhood. She despises everything Norman and she ends up fighting for her life against the despised Norman invaders. Enemies become lovers in this historical romance. Fallon is fiercely loyal to a fault. She does not give up her father’s cause when he’s killed in battle and she’s taken as a prisoner. Fallon is beautiful, determined, and courageous, but she has met her match in Alaric. She despises him, but cannot deny the fiery passion he ignites in her. She is determined to hate the Normans and she is determined to deny her feelings for Alaric as well. The first half of the book deals with their younger years and explains how the two became childhood adversaries and brings a depth of understanding to the history surrounding the story. A great love story where childhood adversaries meet again as enemies and find a great love neither expected to find.
I received an ARC copy from Net Galley and this is my honest review and opinion.

**This one is a rerelease that I got for free in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.**
I love all of Heather Graham's historical novels. I started reading her books when she was writing about vampires and werewolves (as paranormal romance is my utmost favorite genre now), but I followed her into historical romances as her characters are well written and often times swoon-worthy.
Princess of Fire is just as the name suggests, is about a fiery tempestuous woman who fights for what she wants. She is a heroine that any historical romance lover can approve of. It helps that she is the daughter of King Harold of England. Intelligence, bravery, and a will strong enough to take on the most worthy of opponents, I fell a little in love with Fallon myself. Alaric is a white knight that all girls can dream about. Absolutely going to add this to my permanent library!

I enjoy a good historical romance and when I requested this ARC from NetGalley, I didn't realize that it was a reissue of an older Heather Graham book written under the name Shannon Drake. That doesn't mean it isn't a good, solidly written romance but it does mean that the plot is a little tired and I have read very similar romances over the years. Still, it's a pretty decent romance and I did enjoy it.
