Marcus Revington can't believe that he just won a horse business in a card game. His luck couldn't be any better. And to top it all off, he finds himself also winning a wife along with it. Not exactly what he's hoped for, but he's willing to give it a shot. First, he has to meet her.

Penny Montgomery is appalled. Not only has she lost her beloved horses, but she is now being forced to wed a perfect stranger. Well, she is not going to give in just like that. Penny sets out on making it impossible for Marcus to like her. Only problem is that Marcus sees straight through her plans and works that much harder to win her over. Will Penny give in? Find out what happens in WICKED WAGER.

Author Mary Gillgannon pens a fairly entertaining tale. WICKED WAGER certainly had me at it's title, if nothing else. Penny and Marcus had a long hard battle in front of them, which easily held my attention for most of the story. I'm definitely looking forward to reading Ms. Gillfannon's next novel.

I was really looking forward to this book from the description, however, it turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment. The writing is done nicely, but the content is a little too much for me. I skipped many pages because it seemed to be all sex. I would of liked more of the story and less of the sex scenes. Historical romance is what I read, however the plots are all starting to be the same as well as being just another so there. Nothing really lifts out on this but the sex. Again the writing is done well, just not enough depth to the story for me. I was given this book in return for an honest review by Net Galley.
