This is my favorite Ellie Haskell book yet, and that is saying something for me. Dorothy Cannell has painted the most delightful., rich and absolutely funny characters in this series. Ellie is charming, bright, insecure, loving and witty. The mystery in this is spot on, with great suspense - a gothic novel within a novel. Please read them in order, but you will have a great treat when you get to Bridesmaids Revisted!

This book was first published in 2000 and is your typical classic English cozy. Ellie Haskell has starred in 9 books and she has married and had children. When her husband takes the children on a vacation so she can finish redecorating the children's rooms, she thinks she will have time to complete her project. A letter from her grandmother's friends arrives and makes that plan fall to the wayside. They want her to visit and help save their village as a developer is forcing them to sell their home. They insist her dead grandmother wants her to help. This mystery has a few twists and turns you don't expect but it drags in many places.
