A powerful and poignant tale, One American Dream is an amazing story. It really brings home the idea of what you have to sacrifice in order to achieve your dreams, and whether you can ever perfectly achieve any dream. What are the ripples that we cause today with our choices that will affect us down the road? How will those choices affect our families, and those around us? A must read for those who enjoy thought-provoking and challenging tales.

This is a nice book with a pleasant story. I know that sounds like faint praise and it kind of is. The transitions between voices are abrupt and sometimes took me a page to realize the perspective had changed - sometimes the changes were even on the same page without any formatting division - at least on the kindle.

There are a lot of books out there that give the story of generations of Jewish immigrants becoming "Americans" and while this tells a good story it is not one of the best. While this is a work of fiction I felt that some of the history in the book was a little different than experiences I have heard from Jewish and American families. It would make a good support book for someone interested in the process of immigrants.
