First let me start of by saying I hated giving this book 3 1/2 stars but the first half of the book just drug on and on and I was so lost. There are so many different characters in this book sometimes its hard to keep up. There was so much drama. Did I say DRAMA??? That's what I kept asking myself, WTF?!
By time you get to the middle of the book you finally get to the heart of the story. Dante Bishop is in love with Chelsea Coin but Chelsea lied over and over again and Dante couldn't get over the lying so he left the music business and Atlanta to start over but when Devil's music is in trouble Delilah Bishop goes to her brother Dante to help bring Devil's Music back alive, little do you know the plans that Delilah really has since she was forced out of her fathers business and wants back in. Just a couple things that has me wanting book two. Delilah is CRAZY! and I want to find out how crazy she can get. I'd like to see what more happens between Delilah and Dante because there scenes in the book are off the charts HOT! I'd also like to see what transpires between the other key players of Devil's Music.

I have no idea what I just read.
I’m pretty sure every single character in this book is completely and utterly screwed up.
I’m also pretty sure that I liked that more than I should have.
It was like an urban soap opera.
It was like (a hotter) book version of Empire.
I was ready to chuck my damn kindle at the wall with that ending.
I’m read to commit some sort of a sin to get my grabby little hands on the next book.
I’m going to go calm my tits now….
Oh you want a review, do you? Well then! Let me try to give you a semblance of one here.
So this book was…*scratches head*
A romance? *scratches chin*
A soap opera with some crazy drama, music, crazy as hell characters, multiple POVs of said crazy as hell characters, and some hot sex. *nods head enthusiastically*
Yes. That about sums it up.
The story centers around the Devil’s Music record label. Once upon a time, Delilah Bishop was set to inherit her father’s legacy, her beloved label. But a betrayal from the people she least expected ripped it all away from her. But she’s back and she wants revenge and she’ll spare no one in her way; not her past best friends. They are, after all, the ones running her label now.
Dante Bishop walked away from everything after he buried his father. He wanted no part of the label or the toxicity that came from the backstabbing life style it called for. That was his sister’s thing. Never his. Having his heart broken by the woman he thought he’d spend the rest of his life with only solidified his decision. But now opportunity has come knocking and he’s forced to come back into the lion’s den to help save the label and possibly get Delilah her legacy back. It also gives him the opportunity to get his revenge on the woman he once loved, Delilah’s ex-best friend and current COO of Devil’s Music.
Would I call this a romance? Not at the heart of it. There was so much MORE going on. The romance was certainly there but it wasn’t the focus for me, more like the cherry on the top. Lisa Marie Perry weaves a hell of a twisted tale here and it definitely sucked this reader in. The story is complex and multi-layered. So much so that it took me almost half the book to really get my head around ALL of it. Because there was A LOT. It was seriously like watching a super hot episode of Empire. It was completely different from anything I’ve read in the past and that hit the spot just right.
Add in the complex relationship between Chelsea and Dante and I was in hate lust heaven. There are a few more interweaving story lines that flow along with theirs and I’m practically salivating to get their stories.
As for that ending? Well, let’s just say if I don’t get the next book in my grabby little hands soon, I just may have to cut someone.

While this borders on erotica there is also a great story line that I think romance readers will fall for!

I did not realize Sin for Me has a cliffhanger when I accepted the ARC, and I am not a fan of cliffhangers. I will read them but wait until all the book in the serial are available beforehand. I am not going to rate this book since it wouldn't be fair to the author.

DNF'd - this one didn't work for me - too much drama for me to be engaged.

This book had so much drama and I couldn’t look away. I love drama but this one had a little too much for me. I felt like the characters had to have the drama to survive. All the characters had their own secrets they were keeping. If the music industry was doing this to their lives you would think they would get out of it. This story just didn’t work for me. When I was done reading I was wondering what did I just read.

This book was INTENSE and filled with angst drama deceit and smoking hot sex. What more could you ask for.
This was the first time I have read a Lisa Marie Perry title it will not be my LAST her writing is addictive and vindictive ;) ;). I LOVED Delilah’s character she is brutally honest and raw. She knows what she wants and goes for it even if it is to backstab and manipulate her so called friends. Those so called friends that did the same thing to her years ago. This story is packed full of twist and turns and shady characters that just pull you in. The world created is gritty and cutthroat just what you expect in the music industry. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in the Devil’s Music Series.

It’s difficult to take a cast of unlikeable characters and make the reader care about them. Not all readers are willing to rise to the challenge, and that’s okay. The payout for those of us who are is bigger somehow.

Lisa Marie Perry has a cast of some tough characters. All of them are morally deficient in one way or another; all of them have seriously fatal flaws. In fact, it’s hard to believe this was published by one of the big houses, but it was. Good for them.

The set-up is pretty fascinating: the central player here isn’t a person so much as a record label. And we can argue the usefulness and relevance of record labels until the Spotify Premium’s up for renewal, but that’s not what Sin For Me is about. It’s about the people who used to control it (Dante and Delilah) and the people who currently do (Emma, Joshua, and Chelsea)—and the betrayals and baggage that remain as Delilah wants her family’s heritage back.

That’s the big story arc. There’s also a smaller one, in that it’s about the relationship between Dante and Chelsea. There was a betrayal between them as well, and it was part of the bigger betrayal that led to the leadership change at Devil’s Music. But it’s that betrayal between Dante and Chelsea that’s just as hard, if not harder, to get past. Dante copes by leaving town and starting life at the farthest point he can get to from the glitz and glamour of the record business. Chelsea, though, isn’t so lucky. She’s stuck in the executive offices, busy self-destructing and stuck in the guilt and anger of what she and Dante did to each other, surrounded by the constant reminders of him and the family legacy that she took from him.

This is enough for a single book, sure, but there’s a couple more subplots, as well: Delilah wants to make a play to get her label back and decides to use Dante to do it; one of the label’s artists is angry and turns first rogue and then violent; and a new talent comes into the fold. And, too, there’s something going on between married Emma and Joshua, something Chelsea doesn’t understand—and neither does the audience.

It’s almost too much, except there’s something soap opera-esque going on here, and the book certainly reads well. I found I had to read in small doses because the characters are so morally vapid, I’d have to resurface just to recalibrate myself. But at the same time, it was hard to put down (yes, it’s true: the famous editor loves trashy, soap opera-esque books as much as she loves everything else her clients throw at her. Maybe more? I’m not telling!).

This, friends, is the sign of a good book. It’s a train wreck you can’t look away from, a delicious taste of something forbidden. But best of all, the book itself isn’t a train wreck. It’s well crafted and constructed, the characters are beautifully drawn, and it’s well written. The various strands of the plot are well cared for in Perry’s experienced hands, and wow, does she do a great job with it.

But if there’s one area where the book isn’t as strong, it’s in the descriptions. I wanted a better view of what these people wear—telling me the sandals are diamond-studded doesn’t really show me much—as well as how this old house has become a record label, with stairs and offices and… just how does this place lay out and work? It was hard to visualize and I had a hard time making sense of what was where.

After all the rich plotting that happens here, I really missed the rich descriptions to go with the lushness of the characters. Here’s one book that demands more than just a broad brushstroke of description. It needs to breathe the way the rest of the story does.

Even before the cliffhanger ending—I hesitate to call it a cliffhanger because it doesn’t leave us on our toes at the edge of the world so much as it merely stops, the last page gets turned and you look up and wonder where the hell the rest of it is—I was hooked on this series. Morally absent or not, I’m dying to know what comes next for our salacious crew, and how they solve the problems that have been laid out in this first volume of The Devil’s Music.
October, when the second book is released, can’t come soon enough.

Difficult to read. No ending. Is there a second book?

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I honestly don't know what the hell I just read.
It's raw, dirty and twisted.
It's not love, it's hate and vengeance and possessiveness. It's obsession and mania. It's shocking.
And I really don't know if I liked or disliked it.
My vote: 3 stars

This book is a whole lot of FUBAR! It totally worked for me and I loved it! The characters are so full of deceit, back stabbing, and the dirty raw sex that it makes the book a must read. When I got to the end I was like NONONO, I need more. Now, I have found me a new author. I knew from the first line of the book that I was going to like it. Another thing that I thought made this book such a great read is it wasn’t just two characters making a relationship work, it’s about a group of friends that aren’t sure if they are going turn on each other. I just hope I can wait till October when “Burn with Me” comes out.

***I voluntarily reviewed an ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.***

The beginning of the book was a little hard to follow. There is a lot of info you need to digest. But do not quit reading. This story gets better and better. It not your sugar coated romance. There isn't a H or h, either. There are multiple characters who are sneaky, conceited, greedy, just bad. But oh are they soooooo good. If your are looking for a HEA with hearts and promises you will not find it here. This is an intense story that leaves you begging for more and more. I can not wait to see what happens to everyone. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy. So, so glad I did

Dante Bishop thought he was done with Atlanta when he left his father’s family record label to his sister. She became the heart and soul of The Devil’s Music—until the board masterminded a takeover. Now Dante’s back, and he’s putting his songwriting skills to good use. Reuniting with his ex will put some heat into the deal.

Chelsea Coin doesn’t dwell on the past. As the COO of The Devil’s Music, she needs help saving the company, and Dante is part of a package deal. Dante wastes no time stirring up unfinished business. But Chelsea’s come too far to risk everything on a man. Even one who knows her body like he owns it.

Everybody’s fighting to be number one. But with both of their hearts on the line, Dante and Chelsea might make the sexiest mistake of their lives

Sin for Me (The Devil’s Music #1) by Lisa Marie Perry
3.5 stars!!!

“You can’t beat the devil if you don’t play his game.”

This book is what I call “car crash reading.” Drama, drama, drama, drama and some more drama, but hell it was addictive. This was one of those books where you knew you should give up the ghost because these characters were all seriously fucked up. I mean, there was not one “normal” person in this book. If this is what the music industry does to people, why the hell would you work there?

But, in all honesty, I couldn’t put this book down. Marriage is definitely not a sacred vow, anyone is game no matter where they are sitting or currently are, back stabbing is rife and considered the norm, friendships mean absolutely nothing and family ties are stretched to their limits. Everyone in this book was toxic in one way or another and if you were under the Devil’s Music umbrella you became toxic too. The walls bled poison and this poison was extremely potent.

“Transparency’s a luxury in the entertainment industry…”

Devil’s Music is a record label steeped in history and the majority shareholding was left to Delilah Bishop after the death of her father. Delilah lived and breathed Devil’s Music, it was her baby, what she lived for, until those closest to her did the unthinkable and took it away from her. Delilah went downhill fast, but now back on her feet, she is out for revenge and she is taking no prisoners.

Dante Bishop is Delilah’s brother, he walked away from Devil’s Music while he still had a chance. The company had drained him dry both physically and emotionally and the icing on the cake was the demise of his relationship with Chelsea, the current COO of Devil’s Music. She betrayed him in the worse possible way and he still hasn’t gotten over it, or her. His sister now wants what it is rightfully hers and she is asking him to go back into the lion’s den all in the name of revenge, both hers and his.

“There’s no line to straddle. You’re either on her side or mine. And…I’ve got no one but you. This isn’t just about business. It’s about family. So be sure you’re good with the consequences on reneging on me for that bitch.”

Sin for Me is like a soap opera with a slim picking of a second chance romance. You need to keep your wits about you as Lisa Marie Perry hits you from all angles with sexual relations, jealousy, under hand dealings, huge ego’s and a failing music label. Loyalties are tested, deals are made but can you take anyone at face value? Does everyone have a hidden agenda? Is everyone hiding behind a façade and living a lie?

This book was like crack and with that ending I am certainly a Devil’s Music junkie. I seriously need book two and cannot wait to see what the hell is going on.

For Dante Bishop, music died the night he found his father’s body next to a syringe of lithium. Ditching Atlanta, Dante jumped on his Harley and left the family business to his sister. She became the heart and soul of Devil’s Music—until the board, including Dante’s ex, masterminded a takeover. Years later, Dante’s doing something he never thought he’d do: returning to Georgia to put his songwriting skills to good use. Reuniting with Chelsea Coin only sweetens the deal.

As the perfectionist COO of Devil’s Music, Chelsea doesn’t dwell on the past. If she did, she’d never forgive herself for betraying the Bishops in a corporate power grab. Now Chelsea needs help to save the company, and Dante’s a nonnegotiable part of the arrangement. Still brooding and hot as hell, Dante wastes no time stirring up unfinished business—and carnal memories Chelsea would rather keep buried. She’s come too far to risk everything on a man. But for desire this intense, she might just enjoy the sexiest mistake of her life.

Review:

This book has the biggest bunch of dysfunctional characters I have ever read!

Seriously, these people are messed up. There is back-stabbing, drinking, drugs, sex, cheating and that was probably only 25% into the book. There really was not a lot of redeeming qualities in any of the characters in this book, so it made it hard to feel sympathetic to any of them. For being marketed as a romance I would not really consider this as one, there is a lot of sex but even Chelsea and Dante (the couple in the book) seem to be using sex as a weapon. It was an addicting story. Reading about these people was watching a train wreck, you cannot look away. I can see where the comparison to Empire is an accurate statement.

This is my first time reading this Author. I liked her writing style and how she made me want to read about these characters who I did not like very much. This is the first in a new series and it does end on a cliffhanger.

3.5Stars

Apparently this is an unpopular opinion around here, but this book was bad. I made it 25% through, which I felt was a fair shake. I didn't care about any of the characters, was annoyed by basically everything they were saying and doing, and didn't want to spend valuable reading time on it any more.

Raunchy and raw, a cutthroat music industry's players are out for success and revenge, and no one is safe from their sting. Four music execs grappling for their place, each finding something to call their own, but man, what a messed up bunch this is!
Intriguing and fast paced, Sin for Me will keep you interested and on your toes. The action doesn't stop even down to the last paragraph!

Be aware that this story does not end but just stops on the last page. I see there is another installment "Burn with Me". The interaction of the characters was just written without any heart. Devil's Music Record Label was a Bishop Family Legacy before being taken from them by those who called themselves friends. Delilah and Dante Bishop were siblings whose business was snatched from them by Emma Toledo, Joshua Drake and Chelsea Coin. Years later the Bishops resurrect themselves back to claim their birth right and spin some revenge. Although the plot had some twists and turns there was just not enough interest for me to invest time in the next novel.

So much drama and suspense, I was hooked from beginning to end. This is a fast paced read with lots of twists and turns and steamy chemistry. I really liked it.
