I really enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to more of Maya's story. She's a spitfire and her chemistry with Alex was perfect.

Seriously people, if you haven’t started Erin Nicholas’ Opposites Attract series, you are missing out on some fantastic storytelling. I loved the first book in this series, Completely Yours, but I loved Forever Mine even more. Leave it to this author to take a serious genetic disorder and turn it into a romance plot line that not only works, but gives this book a realistic feel and educates at the same time. In classic Nicholas style; this book is fun, sexy and features an ensemble cast that rivals those of well loved television shows like Friends and Big Bang Theory. I loved every minute of this book!

All his life Alex Nolan has lived his life with limitations, but when he spots the kick-ass woman in purple leather giving a martial arts demonstration at the mall he is intrigued and when she goes out of her way to help a teenage girl in need, he realizes this woman is special and even when he is trying to devote all his spare time to his 9 year old daughter he just found out about, he knows that staying away from Maya Goodwin is going to be a challenge of epic proportions.

While Alex and Maya seem worlds apart in the way they live their lives, they have some fundamental similarities that draw them together. Both are prone to help others over themselves, both believe in pushing themselves to be the best, and the love with their whole hearts. When Alex asks Maya to help him learn how to use martial arts weapons and tutor him on everything about super heroes and things the appeal to his 9 year old daughter who deems herself a “geek.” The chemistry between them is electric and while Maya would love nothing more to act on it Alex feels that the time isn’t right since he is determined to make up for lost time with his daughter and do right by her. While Maya is pretty much an open book with Alex, he holds back including on something but Maya being the strong, determined, and take charge woman that she is figures out his secret and forces him to open up. I love that she pushed him, but even more I love that even when she was determined to change for him he refused to let her because her strength, determination and drive is what he found just as sexy as her outside package. The fact that Alex was determined to be the best father he possibly could to his daughter only made Maya more attracted to him even when he was pushing her away.

This book is about a relationship between a man and a woman, but more than that is celebrates all the special relationships in life; those between a parent and child, friends who are more like family, and even ex-lovers who become the best of friends; that is what sets this book apart and just one of the reasons I have always loved this author’s work.

Warm and wonderful, sassy and sexy, magnificent and masterful, Forever Mine is author Erin Nicholas at her very best!

WOW!!! Erin Nicholas never disappoints but this time she superseded my expectations to the nth degree! Alex and Maya were so vulnerable and yet strong and Charlie absolutely stole my heart. I also really liked Rachel, I hope she gets her HEA for no other reason than I want to spend more time with this family.

Anyone who knows me know I love a good Erin Nicholas story. And if you follow me and haven't read anything by Erin yet, I have to ask...what are you waiting for????

I was looking forward to reading Maya. She is one tough female with a geeky soul. I don't think there is enough heroines in the books I read that have their likes more aligned with superheroes and video games (shoutout to Kiera in Completely Yours). It's a refreshing little additive to a great story. Things in Maya's past have shaped her into the person she is today. Throughout the book, we get a clear understanding that she is someone who likes to help people any way she can. It's ingrained in her bones. So it was not a surprise that she was attracted to Alex. Yes he was pretty different, but their base morals were the same.

Alex was a wonderful character. I love the really tough guys, but there are book boyfriends that come along and they are just a typical male and capture my heart just being who they are. Alex's medical condition combined with his childhood experiences and his love for his newly discovered daughter showed me that he is has a good soul. His medical condition was an interesting thing to learn about and something that is practically never written about in romance books because, well, it's not romantic. But it is an aspect of real life that I appreciated.

You won't go wrong digging into this story. (I recommend starting with Completely Yours first, because, well, it rocks.) I just want you to know something imperative before you dive in...you'll get sucked in and want to read all of Erin's backlist! :)

Review: I’m a big fan of Erin Nicholas and have enjoyed many of her series previously – The Bradfords, Counting on Love and Sapphire Falls to name a few, but I was blown away by Forever Mine in her Opposites Attract series. This is book two in the series and I will go back and read the first book, Completely Yours, to see what I missed. The series title is spot on!

Forever Mine has unlikely characters and plots but they work and work well. The characters have an enormous depth to them – not one or two of them, but all of them. As Nicholas reveals each character’s true self the story only got better. Take a geeky medical doctor, Alex, who’s a renown researcher of hemophilia, add a quirky injured ex-cop, Maya, who loves Galactic Renegades and costumes and is the owner of Active Imagination Martial Arts and Fitness Studio, his nine year old daughter, Charli who he just found out about two months ago who has hemophilia and loves anything concerning Galactic Renegades especially the character Piper plus her mom, Rachel, whom initially didn’t tell Alex about his daughter but is all in for making them a family unit now, put them together and it clicks!

When Alex and Maya initially meet their attraction and chemistry is combustible and it only gets hotter from there. Watching them try to have some sort of relationship while he picks her brain to bond with his daughter, Charli was heartwarming. Seeing how Alex isn’t sure a relationship would work for him now with Maya was heartbreaking. Watching how he and Charli’s mom, Rachel, are all in to let him have a relationship with his daughter was selfless but are there other motives too?

We are immersed in all things Renegade and it works. Their characters and the story lines are intertwined effortlessly and tugged at my emotions since there were highs and lows throughout. The relationships had a realness to them whether they were moving forward or taking a step back. There were aha moments, lots of love, loving and burn up the sheet moments along with injuries, diseases, laughter, tears, excitement, wariness, fear, anger, family and friends, teachable moments, empathy and caring. The characters learned from each other and listened to what the others were saying. There was nice closure with the epilogue that takes place three months after the story ends. There are enough loose ends that lets me hope that there will be more books in the Opposites Attract series.

Erin Nicholas's book Forever Mine was amazing! Her Opposite's Attract is fantastic and the books just keep getting better and better!

I am absolutely in love with this series. The opposites attract trope is one of my favorites and the "gaming " element of the story is a world foreign to me so it's a lot of fun to learn about. The central character in Forever mine is Maya Goodwin, all around super chick who is smart, brave and full of life. Like book 1, the story centers on family dynamics and the hero complex. In this case, we get to know Dr. Alex "Wonderful" Nolan who has only recently learned he has a 10 year old daughter. It's through his need to get to know his daughter Charli that brings he and Maya together.

Alex and Maya have that instant attraction thing going on and their story is a fabulous one! Maya teaches Alex so much about the comic community and gives Alex the opportunity to strengthen the relationship he is building with his daughter Charli. Which is the most endearing part of the story. The lengths he will go to to learn more about her interest is just *SIGH* , adorable.

"Alex had never been more nervous about a date in his life.
This girl meant everything to him. He wanted to impress her, ensure she had a great time, and guarantee that she’d want to go out again. She was beautiful and smart and funny and completely fascinating to him . But he didn’t want to come on too strong. He also didn’t want to make small talk. They were beyond that. But he wasn’t sure what to talk about without a bo staff in hand or a Galactic Renegades reference handy. Or her mother in the room."

Meeting Maya is serendipitous, fate, kismet. All those cosmic forces at work. This is what really drives the plot - Alex and Maya connecting and taking the necessary risks. Nicholas achieves this through flirtatious and lively banter and keeps the progression of Alex and Maya 's relationship steady. But even as easy as they seem to find themselves in each others lives there are still some challenges, mostly surrounding assumptions and communication.

There's a couple of key messages about what a hero is made of, how they are characterized and I really like it when a book made me consider the human spirit in a new way. I found it very hard to put away for the night and I even started reading it again early 9 like 5:30 am early) the next morning. 4.5 Stars and recommendation!

I love the heroines and heroes in this series. The women are fun and sexy and a whole lot geeky. It’s so refreshing to see them actually be so into their particular thing and own it :) And Nicholas does a fabulous job of giving them heroes who can actually appreciate them.

Maya is totally kick ass – she’s great with kids, strong & athletic, creative & fun … her only problem is that she doesn’t acknowledge limitations. And unfortunately Alex is a hemophiliac, which means that he’s learned to be cautious. It’s not stopped him from living his life, which is so admirable, but he can’t quite throw himself into things with the same enthusiasm that Maya does.

Life has also taught Alex to keep his condition to himself, which you can bet will cause some trouble between the two of them. He spends a lot of time keeping his secrets and trying to separate the different parts of his life. Unfortunately Maya’s go-for-it attitude doesn’t play by those rules :) They will need some good communication and understanding to be able to figure out a place in the middle that will work for both of them. But no one should underestimate Maya – that girls a fighter when things are important.

Entertaining and full of heart, Forever Mine helps cement Nicholas as a must-read author of charming contemporary romances.

(Characters will continue to reappear in each story, since they are such close friends, but it looks like each will stand on its own.)

This book dragged for me. I got to around the 20% mark and still nothing was happening.
I was also frustrated by what the blurb said versus what was in the book. The blurb makes it seem like they have entered a relationship and then his previously unknown daughter shows up, but that's not the case. The hero is in the process of getting to know his daughter when the story opens. The finding out happens prior to the story starting and got some page time but was in flashbacks and little bits and pieces.

Forever Mine is book two in Erin Nicholas' Opposites Attract series. I enjoyed this much more than the first book. Maya is a real life super hero, a former police officer who got injured in the line of duty and had to quit due to her injury. But still she has no issue putting herself at risk to help someone who needs it, and she wants to make sure people can save themselves, she runs a martial arts and self defense studio where she teaches kids to stand up for themselves and what they believe is right and that they can be their own superhero. Alex is a doctor with a rare blood disorder who grew up and became an expert in that field. A several months ago he discovered he had a daughter who inherited his blood disorder from him. Alex tries to relate to his daughter the only way he can think of and that is through her favorite superhero movie series. Alex discovers Maya's superhero class the plan, because it is to dangerous for his daughter to do it herself, was for Alex to join and then teaches his daughter what he learned in a controlled environment. Alex and Maya have instant chemistry and because of that Maya works with Alex just so she can spend time with him. Even though he feels guilty for not spending time with his daughter Alex looks forward to spending his time with Maya.

The conflict that both Alex and Maya face is just as much internal as it is between them. Alex growing up was constantly overprotected by his mother, he hated that but now with a daughter of his own he is trying to do things differently, but he is still very sensitive about the subject of his own disorder. For a doctor who does conferences and speeches he is horrible when it comes to communication. Maya doesn't know when to give up she is constantly pushing herself to prove that she can still do things even with her physical limitations. Maya falls head over heals for Alex but he's not very communicative, and it makes it seem to Maya that what she is feeling is one sided. Alex needs to face his inner demons before he can fully open up to not only Maya but his daughter as well.

Overall, a very emotional and heartfelt book, you can tell the author feels deeply about the topic. The characters are very well written, I pretty much wanted to slap Alex upside the head there for a bit that's a good thing in this case.

Maya Goodwin is a risk-taker, spontaneous, and a geek at heart. Due to an injury, she cannot work as a cop anymore. Instead, she teaches martial arts to kids. On the other hand, Alex Nolan is the complete opposite. Both meet when Alex finds out he has a daughter and the classes Maya teaches is a way to connect him and his daughter.

The two together had great chemistry despite the differences in personality. They seem to compliment each other well. I liked that Maya was not a pushover while Alex took everything in stride while trying to establish a relationship with his daughter.

Although this was the second novel of the Opposites Attract series, I was not at all puzzled. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to those who like a strong female character and a male character who tries his best to be the best father he could be. It was also very informative about hemophiliacs.

I enjoyed reading this book at the time, but felt that Alex was kind of a pansy. It was weird that he didn't want to talk about his blood clotting disease, and he was overly devoted to his daughter in a way that seemed over the top. Maya was interesting and fun, and it was cool how accepting she was of the blood disorder and even went so far as to research ways to accommodate it with the super hero training she gives, but she was also willing to take way more crap from Alex than I would have.

This was a romance that made my heart sing and sigh all at the same time **swoon** It was a really happy escape from reality. Not to mean that the book was silly or not realistic, quite the opposite. It was just so darn happy 🙂 That’s what really caught my attention about this book and that’s what made it such a great read. There’s not really any drama. There’s a conflict, yes, but it’s not dramatic or angsty. It was life 🙂 This series is really shaping out to be one of the most heart warming I’ve read so far this year!

In true Erin Nicholas fashion she made me feel all sorts of emotions with this book! It is funny, sexy, heartwarming and emotional. I definitely cried at the end! In a good way though. Maya is a kickass heroine! An ex-cop turned martial arts teacher, she doesn't let her limitations hold her back. Alex knows his limits and he doesn't push them. Although they seem like an unlikely pairing, they balance each other out. I loved the interactions between Alex and Charli as they navigated becoming a family. I love the secondary characters and can't wait to learn more about them! This is another amazing read by Erin Nicholas and you definitely want to read it!

While contains plenty of humor, Maya and Alex's story also portrayed some serious issues. While I enjoyed the book, I never felt like the characters were developed as deeply as they could have been. There was a connection that I just couldn't make completely.

An adorably sassy story! It's funny, it's heartwarming and it's steamy in all the right places! It's always a nice dose of reality when an author tackles a topic that many know very little about and weaves a story in such a fashion that you leave more knowledgeable. I really enjoyed seeing the familiar faces in the series again, and meeting the new characters. Fun story!

Feisty go-getter Maya Goodwin is always good for telling it like it is and going for what she wants out of life. She might have had a career ending injury that cut her life as a cop short, but she didn't let that stop her. She loves the studio she opened up to teach kids imagination and martial arts! It's a blast to interact with them and see them bring out new sides of themselves!

Dr. Alex Nolan has always lived his life on the cautious side. He doesn't take chances, and he holds himself back from the crowd. He's not one to reach out and grab what he wants, so for him to feel drawn to Maya the second he lays eyes on her is very out of character for him. He recently learned that he has a 10 year old daughter, and he's desperate for a way to connect with her. Maya happens to be big on certain things that she's a big fan of, so he sets out to get her to help him win over his daughter. Could a daredevil and a cautious doctor ever wind up being a perfect match?

This series is called Opposites Attract, and that is definitely the over-arching theme of Forever Mine. This second book in the series was a slow starter for me, but I am glad I stuck with the story. The hero and the heroine are a little over the top, but they fit the story so well. I have never explored the world of cosplay, but Erin Nicholas made it come alive easily. The pacing of this novel seemed a little uneven, but the satisfying story and ending made it all worthwhile. I will definitely continue this delightful series.

3.5 stars
This definitely qualifies as a cute "opposites" story as Maya and Alex are not too people that you would automatically put together.
He's a very careful, deliberate doctor who likes things to all go in their box and she's all in with everything she does.
I liked Maya and Alex together, but wish there had been more relationship development. The story seemed to focus on Alex's conflict and we missed some of the blossoming affection between our two main characters.
As the second book in the series, Forever Mine also relies heavily on the back story laid in book one. While I think it could be read as a standalone, it works better when read in order.

I personally really enjoyed Maya and Alex's story. The first line of this book hooked me in and made me laugh at the same time. Maya was such a strong and kick ass woman. Alex was a complex character that had to grow quite a bit though out this book as he learned to open up to not only Maya, but also the daughter he didn't know about. This story was a strong one that really had a lot of strong feminine characters. I enjoyed this story by Erin Nicholas and look forward to more in this series.
