I was only 3 chapters in and already this book was booming with action and adventure. I hate how books take forever to get into their rhythm by which point I'm bored, but this hasn't done that at all.
The Kryszka are so interesting already. I want to know more.
But I was worried about the unusual mix of aliens AND zombies in one book? I wasn't so sure how I felt about that until I discovered they weren't a typical form of 'zombie' (phew!).
I was really into the very vivid macabre descriptions of things, for example the zombies 'leathery skin' and 'their groans sounding like pebbles rattling in their windpipes'. They were very captivating in my opinion.
It did concern me at times that it was an overwhelming read because there was so much information to take in and I felt it was written in a messy manner as though there wasn't a lot of structure. It didn't feel like it would be an easy quick read because of its scatty layout. But I am pleased to say I was (mildly) wrong. Although I had some minor concerns with this book I soon began to enjoy it, for which I am glad. It took a little while for me to feel comfortable with the way it was written (hence why I've given it 4/5 stars), but I would be a liar if I were to say I wasn't starting to become a little hooked.
And a mention about The Fly? As a huge horror fan, that definitely earned some browny points.
Full of interesting situations but it could've done with slowing down slightly because there was a lot of drama, however it was a good read, and part of me can imagine this as a very action packed sci-if movie.
