Blood Money was my first book by Tee O'Fallon and it won't be my last. The story flowed so beautifully, pulling all elements together and keeping me on the edge of my seat.
Gray and Alex work together and finally, just when Gray acts on his feelings for Alex and she lets him in a little bit, things blow up in their faces leaving Gray hurt and angry and Alex in danger and caught in her past once again.
They say the truth shall Et you free but that isn't always the case, especially not when you are drawn into the dirty deep of a huge criminal mess. Alex has done everything she has had to to keep her son safe and well. She's been the best mother she could be even when it meant denying who she really was and telling a few well meaning lies. When it all comes back on her though she doesn't let it keep her from attempting to still protect her son at all costs.
Gray has been betrayed by a woman in the past, and that betrayal left more than him hurt. So when he finally feels like he can open himself up to another woman, he's knocked aback to discover she's not at all who he thought she was.
Blood money takes us on quite the journey, lots of twists and turns, dangerous plans and a woman bound and determined to not just keep her son safe but to prove to those shes hurt that she was on the right side all along. Gray and Alex's connection is deep and palpable, but there are understandable complications between them as well. I enjoyed watching as they worked together on the case and figured things out together almost as much as I enjoyed trying to piece together how and why Alex was Chosen and just what more she had hidden if her past.

This book will suck you in completely and have you conjuring all sorts of theories and questions while also rooting for Alex.

I could not get into this book at all. I tried, but it just could not capture my attention.

Is Blood Money really this author's second book? I was shocked to learn this after reading the book. I have not read her other book before reading this one and I enjoy her writing style. She is highly descriptive without over doing it by giving us filler sentences. The plot was an intricate one that kept me in suspense as well as highly entertained. And the romance! THAT was hot. I knew their was a first book without looking for it. This one had that quality of not knowing a few things, but it didn't lessen my enjoyment of this book. However I do recommend reading them in order for the highest quality of enjoyment. I truly loved this book and I look forward to even more.

A whole lot of explosive action…in and out of bed!

Need I say more?
Probably not, but I will.

The only gray detective Yates recognizes is his name. Everything else is black and white. Thou shalt not lie, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not marry bad people and make a baby with them because thou may have to end up running from other bad people. Too bad he hadn’t met Alex first so he could hip her to those rules. Rules she had no idea she was even breaking. Except for maybe the first, but with good reason, of course. That reason being that baby- now an adorable little boy- that she made with the bad person who’s now trying to steal him away.

Every which a way are hulking, handsome heroes. What’s a girl to do? Turn the page, that’s what and keep on reading. Not a hard feat when a book is this good. O’Fallon hit the mark with the writing. Bullseye! I was there. Every moment of every scene. The action blew me away. I had to check for scars a couple of times. Terroism, blackmail, secrets (making it easy for the blackmail, of course), sex, lies, scandal…and best of all…love. The story has it all.

Gray stole my heart, but so did Dom, Gray’s partner and best friend. They are quite the duo, and Dom’s mysterious, yet care-free behavior made my heart thump. I am so waiting on his story. I love him and Daisy. She’s a spitfire and loyal friend. Nicky is the sweetest little boy. He tugged at my heartstrings. I felt so bad for him, and was so glad he still enjoyed his life and didn’t concentrate on his very serious illness.

And don’t get me started on the shower scene! Nothing Pyscho about it.

4 Stars!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
Burnout (NYPD Blue & Gold, #1)

This is Alex and Gray’s story. Alex is a single mother with a ton of secrets that if exposed could get her killed. Gray has major trust issues. Now he needs to protect a single mother that has major secrets can he do it? Can he keep her safe and learn to trust her? With the passion flaring between them he needs to keep his hands to himself but can he resist her? If things go wrong, he will have to arrest her. Will he be able to do that in the end? Or will he need to protect her from himself as well as the enemy?

I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Gray and Alex were interesting. I liked the way the development of their relationship was handled, the idea that they were attracted to one another, and starting to act on that attraction, and then events happened that got in the way.

It was an interesting perspective, and in a way a second chance romance, even though not a lot of time had passed.

I thought the catalyst for the situation was believable without being overwrought, which can be a difficult balance, as when an author uses a child as the motivation for adults, sometimes the characterization falls to the side and the author uses "it's for a child" as the reason for all the motivation. And, while this is legitimate, it is a tough read...and the author avoided doing this here, which kept it interesting.

The pacing was strong and consistent and the writing and dialog were also interesting and believable...I liked Gray and Alex, I wanted to see what happened with them, and I liked the ultimate resolution.

I recommend this book.

this is my first time reading a story by the author, and goodness, this is an excellent read! Engrossed from the beginning of the story, I dropped all my plans to work on my knitting and kept reading until the end. Great story and even though it is the second of a series you do not have to have read the first story to enjoy this one.

This is only Tee O'Fallon's second published book but I am completely amazed by how well-researched and well-written this book is. BLOOD MONEY is exciting and fast-paced, has the perfect balance of romance and suspense, and will definitely keep readers on edge and eager for more after the last word.

Alex Romano is a single mom with a very sick child, a mountain of debts and secrets, just ripe for the picking. With the access she gets at her job at the NYPD headquarters, she's just the kind of person that could be vulnerable to pressure from anyone whose knows what strings to pull and with an international organization of assassins/mercenaries blackmailing her and threatening her child, she's in a no-win situation, no matter how you look at it. Working with the cops to take down the threat against her is the only way to save her child, maybe keep herself out of jail and salvage her fledgling relationship with Detective Gray Yates but her secrets may be the death blow to a relationship that barely had a chance to flourish.

Gray has earned the right to be skeptical about people and their motives and in spite of the strong attraction he feels for Alex, he's right to be suspicious of her motives for getting involved with him. He is the lead detective in the case against the organization threatening her and she could be with him to get information for them, but the more time he spends with Alex, the harder it becomes to believe she's using him and the harder it is to keep his hands off her. But when her secrets come to light, will he be walking away from her or putting her in cuffs?

This book was so intense on every level. The passion between Alex and Gray was so powerful, the emotions so deep, the secrets so heartbreaking, the threats so real and my stomach was constantly churning with the roller-coaster ride this story took me on. This author may need to teach a class on how this stuff is done!

This is one of my favorite books so far this year and I unreservedly recommend it to both fans of and newbies to the romantic suspense genre. I'm excited that this is only the second book and there are potentially a few more characters that could have stories (I'm looking at you, Jess Yates), which means more books hopefully and I can't wait.

LOVED IT!! And because nothing about it prompted any negative thoughts out of me, it deserves 5 stars!! I enjoyed the characters, the plot, the suspense, the romance, the EVERYTHING!!

Detective Gray Yates has major trust issues just like the blurb says. After trusting the wrong person while doing a tour in Afghanistan resulted in the deaths of most of his unit and one too many children, he's closed himself off to attachments. No trust means no one gets too close. His strict by-the-book, black-and-white world gets knocked for a loop when he finds a sizzling connection with One Police Plaza's administrative assistant, Alex. He knows that she's hiding something and he's determined to find out what.

Alex Romano was a single mom, intelligent, beautiful, and trying to make ends meet while paying for her son's leukemia treatments. Really tugged on the ol' heartstrings with that one. She's an incredible mother and this story is really about the lengths she'll go to in order to protect her child. Targeted by an international organization of assassins and mercenaries, known as the Pyramid, all of her carefully buried secrets rise to the surface and her and her son are now in danger. Can Gray ever understand and forgive her lies? Or will his rigid control over his heart and lack of trust mark the end of their love of a lifetime? And just what is HE willing to do to ensure the safety of those he loves???

An exciting story, filled with tense suspense, fear, danger, misgivings and trust issues all well balanced with the cutest kid and two mistreated hearts trying to find a way to happiness with all the possible roadblocks on their way.
The story immediately took my interest and pulled me into the world of terror and secrets. Alex Romano is an intelligent, independent woman who is used to take care of things by herself and not rely on anyone's help or support. Her son Nicky has a rare form of leukemia, and she is willing to do anything to protect her son, to keep him safe, and to get him healthy.
Gray Yates was betrayed by his former love interest while in Afganistan resulting in the deaths of children, comrades, and his best friend's girlfriend. The guilt, the regrets, the remorse is something he is used to carrying with him until Alex caught his eye and he felt maybe there was a chance of happiness for him as well.
I loved the connection between Gray and Alex. The chemistry was hot, and their lust-filled thoughts were melting the pages. Both of them had something they were hiding from the world around them, but no one expected the extension of the lies and deception Alex had built around her and Nicky. The story unfolds rapidly, the continues twists and revelations keeping the tension high and the feelings raw. There came a point where I wanted to shake Alex, as it seems there's always something more, starting to feel as suspicious and tired of her lies as Gray was. Alex and Gray put each other's trust and honesty to test again and again until the drama filled crescendo.
Constant conflicts and action, violent battles with the terrorist, mixed with gorging hot romance with serious trust issues, and one adorable young man, that will steal your heart, with a mother who is willing to sacrifice everything for her son's life and health. Buckle up, it is a high-speed, explosive, and highly entertaining tale!

Blood Money is the second book in the NYPD Blue & Gold Series by Tee O'Fallon. It's not neccesary to read the first book in the series, it could be perfectly read as a standalone; but I'd recommend you to read Burnout first just to have an idea who Detective Gray Yates is.

In the safety of his arms lies passion...and danger.

NYPD Detective Gray Yates has been burned before. As someone who has suffered at the hands of betrayal, trust issues are a daily occurrence.

Alex Romano is being blackmailed by the Pyramid—an elusive international organization of assassins every cop in the world is after.

What do you do when the woman you are irresistibly drawn to is hiding enough secrets to take down an entire city? And on top of that, you're the one assign to protect her. Testing Gray's resolve has never been sexier.

But when Alex's lies are revelead and Gray is faced with another betrayal...

Will be Gray's love enough to overpower his fear of trusting again?
Will he be her savior or her downfall?

Blood. Lies. Money. Lust.

From the start, this fast-paced, action-packed, romantic suspense had me glued to my kindle. It was the perfect combination of romance and suspense held together with Tee O'Fallon's writing; an author who understands suspense well enough to know how to have your heart racing with richly detailed scenes and engaging ups-and-downs.

Just as the suspense, the romance in this book was well-paced. I enjoyed how the tension between the characters built up at the beginning of the story and then at the half-way point, shifted into something else. I totally sympathize with Alex, who unlike Cassie, never gave me a headache. Her actions were always on point and that made me really like her.

And what about Gray? Ah! My darkly dangerous detective. There isn't one thing I didn't love about him. I got to meet him while reading Burnout and I was intrigued by him. Then, after reading this book I know I love him.

Deny the fiery passion between them? IMPOSSIBLE. Despite the doubts that surrounded them, their relationship combusted into something deeper, LOVE. But will be that enough? Or will Gray end up arresting her?

The reason I didn't give the book 5 stars, is that I feel the ending a little rushed. And there was a particular situation-character from I was expecting more. I think that the author could have just used him/her to create more drama. Well, she did it, but it was not enough for me.

Blood Money had the right blend of romance, suspense, and steam. And a couple who is relatable, likeable, and will have you rooting for them til the very end. A great addition to the romantic suspense genre.

The Pyramid is still out there, here's to hoping we will be getting more in this series. I'm waiting for you Dom.

Since I really enjoyed the first one in this series, I was looking forward to this one when it came out. Love a man in uniform with this one being in NY's finest. Detective Gray has his work cut out for him with also having his hands full. Plus those secrets that are hidden usually have a way of coming to light. When he is working on a case he finds that Alex whom he already was watching seems to have some. The author already will have us on protective mode thanks to Alex's circumstances so when things start going with the drama building I find myself slowly creeping along the edge of my seat. It was also be interesting seeing how Gray would behave and how love handles him. Great choice of supporting characters that will get you further caught up with them too. The heat is not just provided by the bad guys either in this one. So once again this author gave me a story that had me sizzling and salivating along with all the suspense that by the time I reach the end I realize I am worthless for a minute.

Blood Money was a super exciting book to jump into. Gray Yates was a rigid by the book detective who was burned in the past during a military tour overseas. He trusted the wrong person which caused the death of most of his unit. As a result, he lives a cut and dry life of not trusting or getting close to anyone. But, we all know what happens with rules and conditions. They are meant to be broken! Enter Alex Romano. The exception to his rule and the one woman who intrigues him and gets on his radar.

What I loved about this book was that despite getting caught up in a deadly game with the wrong people and also keeping secrets from Gray, Alex was an amazing heroine and single mother. Gray, likewise was a fantastic hero who wanted to be there for Alex. But would it be enough for him to put his past behind him to move forward with this woman? Read this to find out! 4 Stars!

I would like to thank NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

'No one really fell in love in a moment. It took days, weeks, months, sometimes years to fall in love.
Didn’t it?'

I fell in love in a moment… or at least, within a handful of pages. When it comes to Blood Money by Tee O’Fallon, it's practically impossible not to.

From the start, this fast-paced, action-packed, suspenseful romance had my attention and each page caused my heart rate to spike and my blood to pump. It was tense and intriguing; a tangled web of lies, pasts, money, lust and ugh, SO. MUCH. MORE.

There isn't a single thing about this book that I didn't enjoy. The twists and mystery kept coming, but were well-paced—not one on top of the other, rather an even spread that kept the investigation fresh, the romance simmering and excitement coming. And between those twists came much needed quiet moments, along with a chance to get to know Gray and Alex, mine their secrets and fall in love with them.

Oh, it was so easy to fall in love with them. Their actions and choices were on point—in keeping with their characters, aligned with what I would likely do in similar situations. It made sense. It made me sympathize with both of them in equal measure. And it made my chest ache.

Because this couple were electric. Their chemistry, their heat, their tension were palpable, and every page had me on the edge of seat, hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

For the record, I got the best. Because this is a book written by someone who understands suspense. Everything in Blood Money had an authentic vibe—and although dramatic and intense, Ms. O’Fallon presented it in a way that was wholly believable.

Needless to say, I am greatly anticipating more in this series. The Pyramid is still out there, and Dom and Daisy (and maybe even Jess and Moira?!) are still looking for their moment to fall in love. And I can't wait to share it with them.

'Electricity…sparking and crackling between them like a desert lightning storm. Powerful. Sharp. Exciting and difficult to resist.'

~ FIVE Pyramid STARS ~

Ms. O’Fallon is a new author for me and I have to say, I have become already a fan. Blood Money is book 2 of her series titled NYPD Blue & Gold.
This one centers around Detective Gray Yates, a by the book detective whose outlook on life and love was affected by a devastating incident in Afghanistan. Alex Romano, is a woman hiding in plain sight, with a very sick child, and as any mother, will do anything for that child.
Just when they decide to date, their world turns upside down. Gray feels betrayed . Yes , Alex has been lying , but she has not been using him.
The plot is complex, the main and secondary characters are well developed, there is suspense, intrigue and romance.
It’s a reminder that life is not black and white, that a mother’s love is unbendable , and that one needs to take chances in life , especially in love.
If you like suspense, romance, complex characters , an engaging plot and hunky men, this one is surely the one for you.
I was gifted this book by Netgallley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

**I received a copy of Blood Money from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a honest and voluntary review**

Blood Money by Tee O'Fallon is the second book of her NYPD Blue & Gold Series. I haven't read the first book and I was able to understand the book completely as a standalone.

Gray Yates has trust issues due to being betrayed by a translator who was assigned to his unit while serving in Afghanistan. He also met his partner, Dominick, there who worked for one of the alphabet agencies also lost his love that day. Now both detectives are trying to get a break in their case against Pyramid and Ahmed Methopolis. How when one of their admins at One PP comes up on a list of receiving Blood Money from Pyramid, his insecurities come back full force. It will take everything they have to find out who and why they sent Alex the money.

Alexandra Romano loves her job as an admin at One PP but she is constantly worried about her son, Nicky, who has Leukemia and how she will pay for his treatments. She also has a date (finally!) with Gray and they are finally able to give into their attraction to each other. But she's also on the run from Nicky's abusive dad. When $20,000 arrives in her account, she takes some of the money to cover her son's treatment. But when she's called into a meeting with her bosses to explain the money. When a woman calls her and asks her the unthinkable betray the police department she immediately tells her bosses. But soon she's being guarding by Gray and when they receive a break in the case, will they be able to take down one of the Pyramid Assassins while keeping Nicky, Gray and Dom safe?
