I really enjoyed this book. I did. I was just a little disappointed, because of how much I loved the first book. But, I love the characters, and the plot was great, the only problem was that it was a little slow, and I just wasn’t as captivated as I was in Thief of Lies. But it was still a great read!

I love Gia.

In Guardian of Secrets, she’s in hiding. She is a Sentinel, and totally badass. She’s independent and stubborn and really fun to follow. And she continues growing. And I really liked seeing her and Deidre grow closer. What I love about all characters is that they’re not good or bad, it’s not just black or white, but everyone is both good and bad, and a lot of people aren’t quite what they seem. It makes for a much more realistic book; in reality, people are actually good and bad.

The romance was good.

I absolutely love Arik. I really, really love him. Which is why this book completely broke my heart. Because there is more of a love triangle in Guardian of Secrets. Gia grows closer to Bastien, and, while he’s a nice guy and all, he’s not Arik. So, I’m a bit torn about the next book. On one hand, I feel like it would be annoying if Gia changed her mind about them again. On the other hand, I really need her and Arik to be together!

The plot was a bit slow.

Because of this, it was a bit difficult to get into, and didn’t succeed in keeping my attention as well as Thief of Lies did. But, after about half the book, things got more interesting, there was more action and the last part of the book, I finished very quickly, because I just had to know how things would end.

I absolutely love the world!

I mentioned this in my review of the first book, but the idea behind the world and plot is absolutely amazing! I mean, you can just tell from the title of the series (Library Jumpers) that it’s totally perfect for booklovers. And it is! I love the whole stuff about people jumping through books into different libraries all over the world, and there being people supposed to protect libraries. It’s original and completely unique, and I love it!

Overall, Guardian of Secrets was a great read, and I really enjoyed it! The characters are relatable and realistic, and I’m in love with the world. It’s a totally unique read, and I would definitely recommend it! Don’t give up because it’s slow in the beginning, because it’s so worth finishing it.

The adventures of Gia continues or the library-hopping resumes. The latter is what I really liked about this story. A tour of the beautiful and historic libraries of the world.

The search for the seven Chiave or keys is on. Gia needs to find them all before the evil wizard Conemar beats her to it and release the monster.

Wow! A lot of things happened in this second installment. Gia has to go through an emotional roller-coaster caused by love. She discovered a lot of secrets. Forged new relationships and met long-lost relations. This book has a lot of betrayals, heartaches, changing alliances and unexpected turns. Be ready for the surprises of your life.

This book is more intense than the first one. If you enjoyed and got carried away by the Thief of Lies, this will surely have you in its claws. I was buried deep in the story. I just can't let it go until I reach the last word on the last page. The events were so undeniably gripping and engaging. It was almost like I forgot to breathe with the energy, excitement, emotion and tension. There is no way the story will allow you to leave until you embark on the conclusion.

I was really attuned to Gia's heartache. Of all people, the one person she trusted the most deserted and betrayed her. Tsk...tsk...I wanted to smack the guy for hurting her. And then, there's confusion...Ah, I don't know what to make of it. I don't know who to root for. How can you choose between two very gorgeous and fierce guys? But then, I think I knew Arik better so I'm kind of leaning into his team. I am not so sure, though. I do love them together.

I give this book 5/5 skeleton keys. There's just no letting up on the intensity of what's going on in this story. This will leave you breathless until the very end. There is no rest for the wicked indeed. I can't imagine what the rest of the series will look like. I think I will have to make sure I have water and my inhaler handy. There is no telling what the rest of the adventures will be like. If this book is an indication, well, I need to be prepared to loose my mind.

The damage was done. Just as a river couldn't change its course, I couldn't change the direction my heart was heading.

'Guardian of Secrets' is the exhilarating second installment in an absolutely wonderful young adult fantasy series that will leave readers begging for more. Since it's the second book in the series, I highly recommend reading the first book before this one. It's not completely necessary, but there are references to things that happen in the first book - and you might get a bit lost if you haven't read it. That being said, I'm so incredibly happy that this novel lived up to any hopes I had for it. There are so many series that start out really strong only to tank when it comes to the following installments. This book is just as good - if not a bit better - than the first, which was a very happy surprise.

A ton of stuff happens throughout the story - to the point where I can't elaborate much on the plot because of potential spoilers. There's a serious love triangle between Gia, Arik, and a new character named Bastien. I'm not usually a fan of love triangles, but this one didn't bother me at all. I loved the romance and watching Gia's relationships with both guys develop throughout the story. Gia herself evolves a lot in the book. She's more mature, confident, and determined to do what's right. She's a realistic character with both positive traits and faults, and I was able to easy connect with her right away. The rest of the characters were all rounded with their own personalities to make them unique. I really loved getting to know each of them and I can't wait to see where the next book will take each of them.

Another big plus for me was the author's choice of writing style. She uses the first person point of view - which I'm a huge fan of for several reasons. The story is told from Gia's perspective, so we really get to know her on a deeply personal level. I think it's a perfect fit for the series and captures the inner workings of Gia's heart and mind, allowing the reader to really identify with her character. The author used vivid imagery and lots of detailed descriptions that brought each aspect of the story to life before my eyes. I easily slipped back into Gia's world from the beginning pages of the book, and I didn't come back out until I had finished the novel (which I ended up doing in a matter of a few hours). I can't wait for the next installment so I can see where the author will take the plot and the characters next. Very highly recommended for fans of fantasy, along with fans of young adult fiction, paranormal, contemporary, and even romance!

Gia is a Sentinel, which comes with many responsibilities. Ever since she found out about her heritage and the doomsday prophecy that started to occur with her birth, Gia’s life has been a whirlwind. Her family, Nick and his family, and many of the other Sentinels have moved to a new town and guard one of the libraries from the evil beings that would bring the world’s end. Nick is taking the news of his birth hard, and Gia and Arik’s relationship is not doing so well. Meanwhile, they hunt for seven magic items hidden around the globe before time runs out.

Guardian of Secrets by Brenda Drake went everywhere. Relationship problems takes up a large portion of the story, as the neighbor girl tries to steal Arik away from Gia. A person begins to wonder, “Was it ever true love?” But then there is always Sebastian who loves and is even betrothed to Gia. Other romantic relationships and friendships among Gia’s friends and family form and break as well. Nick is having trouble adjusting to the revelation that he is a sorcerer, his father is evil, and his adoptive parents have been lying to him his entire life. I think anyone would go a bit crazy with all of that information, but it caused a bit of drama in the plot. Because the story focused so much on the relationships, there is not as much action, and when there is, the action happens quickly with far-reaching effects. The story had sort of a “village” feeling because of all the characters and their frequent interactions. But it was still easy to keep most of them straight in my mind, which is not an easy feat with so many. I would also like to add that the foreshadowing was extremely well done, and the magical elements of the story were fantastic. I just wish the next book would be released soon, because that ending stung.

Some mild content warnings: swearing, kissing, sexual innuendos, and violence. And to my really conservative readers, there is also a homosexual character and magic that borders on dark.

I would recommend this book to fantasy and romance lovers.

Guardian of Secrets by Brenda Drake is the second book in the Library Jumpers series. The Library Jumpers series is a young adult fantasy series, that I am really enjoying. I loved the first book, Thief of Lies, and I liked this one just as much, if not more! Gia was an even better character than she was in the first book, and I think I overall enjoyed this one even more. Plus, hello they can jump into different libraries. (if you are a library geek like me, you should totally check out Brenda’s guest post on her top favorite libraries from around the world! Its awesome. See it HERE)

Guardian of Secrets picks up where Thief of Lies left off, so you do need to read this series in order to fully understand an enjoy it. Gia is our main character, and she has grown so much in this series already! I think that is what I was the most impressed with. She was a bit on the immature side at times in the first book, but she has really grown into herself and matured as she starts to get more comfortable with everything that is going on around her. I love, love love watching a character grow throughout a series. For some reason it is one of the most satisfying things for me to read about. Even more than a romance sometimes.

And speaking of romances, the library jumpers series does feature a love triangle. And I am not going to give too much away about the love triangle, other than to say both of the guys are fantastic and the triangle itself is really well done. So well done, in fact that I don’t even know if I am happy with the way it is panning out or not. I just don’t know!! but the library jumpers is not all about a great love triangle, there are so many characters and friends in this group, that it is jst as much about the friendships. And it is really refreshing to see positive friendships displayed. Reading about all of the characters really just makes me happy. But that being said, I need the last book now because everything was not all laughing and rainbows. Please give me the next (and I think final) book asap!

Bottom line: Guardian of Secrets was even stronger than the first book, in my opinion. I really loved this one. I love the premise behind the story, I love the characters, I love the friendships and I really love the growth we saw in Gia. Plus, did I mention they can jump into a book and travel to different libraries through books?! How can that not be awesome. I want to do that! If you were on the fence with book 1, give book 2 a try because this one was even better! I really loved Guardian of secrets!

Last year I read Thief of Lies and I enjoyed it enough to want to read the sequel. I really like the idea behind the story and Guardian of Secrets kept my interest alive. A fair warning though- there's a major case of love triangle.

Before starting this second book, I highly suggest revisiting the first one. I didn't do that so things in Guardian of Secrets got a little bit confusing. Regardless I found myself oddly invested in the story. Whether it was searching for the Chiavi or sorting out Gia's romantic entanglements the story kept me reading. I wanted to see each plotline through. At times the story felt a little scattered but there was no shortage of lies, secrets, betrayals and deaths.

One of my favourite thing about this series was being introduced to libraries all over the world. Each one of the libraries the characters visit sound magnificent beyond words. What would it be like to see them in person? I really hope to visit some in the future!

There's already a vast number of characters from Thief of Lies but Ms. Drake adds even more into this second installment. We meet more Sentinels, wizards and Mystiks. As even more clues and information come to light, we're left wondering who's really the bad guys. It's frustrating but I thought Ms. Drake does an excellent job sustaining the unknown and keeping the mysteries alive.

I cannot talk about this book without mentioning the blinding love triangle. Gia loves Arik but she can't help feel a strong connection with Bastien, her betrothed. I don't hate love triangles but this one was really predictable. The conflict and the result were so glaringly obvious I couldn't root for anyone. Not to mention it's kind of hard for me to get behind a new romance for spoilery reasons. The way Gia sways between the two guys is painful to read. I suppose at least she's fair to them.

I know it sounds like I didn't like Guardian of Secrets but I did enjoy it. I look forward to jumping into more grand libraries as well as seeing the final romantic pairing. Assassin of Truths (how cool are all the titles!) better give me a solid ending!

In this one you will be pulled many ways emotionally. High school tuff enough for most but add bulling to that and your self worth could be none. Anna is a sweetie but she is the one that has it not so easy and sometimes down right ugly. Then there is Brayden whom has a heart for real even if he is young. Watch it he doesn't steal yours. Him and a few others will aid her with us the readers being there for it all. I was really surprised at caliber of this with it not really letting on that it is all that inside. By the time I finish with this I was glad I did.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read and review Guardian of Secrets by Brenda Drake! This second book in the Library Jumpers series is as awesome as the first book, Thief of Lies. The beginning of the book reacquaints us with the characters and adventures that took place in the first book. Gia and her comrades are trying to blend into a regular human lifestyle while continuing the search for the keys. Gia isn't sure who she can trust and, at times in the story, who is deserving of her trust is unpredictable. Gia also meets someone who she thought was no longer alive. Her heart also goes on a roller coaster ride and back and forth between two guys that she deeply cares for. This story stretches Gia and her capabilities, but she hangs in there and becomes stronger because of it! I rate Guardian of Secrets 5 stars for action, intrigue and a fun fantasy adventure!

Guardian of Secrets is the fast paced sequel to Thief of Lies. As the story continues and the battle of evil progresses we form a stronger bond with the characters.

I really like the focus on friendship. Gia and Nick’s friendship especially but I liked how Gia is not always hanging out with the same person. She often spends time with different Sentinels which allows the reader to get to know their personalities better. The plot is fast paced and there is no time for crying. Battles are happening around every corner, you are never sure who you are supposed to trust. Again the crazy events bring different characters together. Nick’s friendship with Gia, and the fact that she is the only that keeps him grounded as he deals with his adoption and his new powers. Jaran bonds with Gia over broken hearts and moving on. Kale, Lei and Gia learn to count on each other (She almost accidentally killed Kale in the first book) and have each others backs. Gia sees the things that she doesn’t have in common with Arik and realizes she doesn’t know everything about him. Bastien and her form a stronger connection. Of course there is Faith, Uncle Phillip, Nana, Pop, Edgar and so forth. They all have their moments. It’s amazing how it managed to all flawlessly fit together.

I really liked the love triangle in this book. I know people often shy away from them but this one made sense. It wasn’t a girl leading on two guys for a plot device. It felt very natural. As she grew apart from one boy she grew closer to the other and it didn’t happen overnight.

Gia shows character growth. She’s not the same girl that we saw first accidentally stumbled into another library. She is still stubborn and fiercely loyal. She is also growing up and understanding that head first without thinking is not always the best option. She is extremely brave and never backs down from a fight. She refuses to go down easily in any situation.

I still enjoy the magic and hierarchy of the mystik world. It’s always building and expanding as Gia searches for the missing keys. Plus her powers are always growing and changing as well.

Overall I really enjoyed this installment. I might have even enjoyed it more than the first story. I can’t wait to see how it continues in the next book.

I read book one of this series which sets you up for the second book. In my opinion book one was lacking where book two the characters are more solid and the story moves along at nice intense pace. Which is good cause i hate when book one is so awesome and then two is a let down so the intensity of book two is very well done and the character development is spot on. I also like how the author gave us a great description of each library as the chiave are tracked down. The series is intense and very well done and would love to see more in this series.

Guardians of Secrets starts off several weeks after Thief of Lies ends. Gia, her daddy and her channeling Diedre have moved away from New York City. They are in hiding. Nick’s family has moved as well. Both are having trouble with everything that happened in Thief of Lies. Gia has no clue how to act around Diedre, Nick is just having a bad time with everything- at least they have each other. As they learn the ropes of being a Sentinels, they are also on a secret mission to find the remaining Chiavis.

This puts Gia at odds with Arik as he things she is being reckless. These two start off strong, but then Arik pulls away. He acts completely opposite of the Arik we know and liked in Thief of Lies. So much so that I was wishing he would just go away. Bastien shows up in defense of Gia and Nick (yeah even in YA novels there is politics). It helps that he is willing to give Gia her space even though they are bethrothed. When Gia gets in over her head, he is the one to come to her rescue time and time again.

Gia grows in this book so much so that I forgot that it was the second book in the series. She becomes more- both physically and mentally. It was refreshing. Emotionally she goes through a lot, especially at the hands of Arik. Instead of wallowing in self-pity she puts on her big gal pants and deals. I no longer ship Arik and Gia together. You will understand why that ship sailed when you read this one. I am not totally sold on team Bastien yet either. More just team take some time and maybe give Bastien a chance.

I am worried about Nick, especially with what we have learned. Hid anger may just consume him. I hope he doesn’t go over to the dark side.

Guardians of Secrets is a fun continuation of a great series. The characters welcome you back with open arms and smiling faces- even the evil ones.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

As you might know I've been in a romance kick but I'm trying to read more fantasy in 2017 so why not start with a book I've been waiting for a year? Last year I read Thief of Lies the first book in the Library Jumpers series and I loved it so I was really excited for this one. Guess what? I loved this one even more.

First of all, I still love the fact that this is basically about people who jump through libraries. That's the dream and I love it. Once again, I loved the world building in this book. I already really enjoyed it in the first book but we keep learning new things about this world and it's amazing. To be honest, because I read the first book over a year ago, I was a little bit lost in the beginning but everything started coming back to me due to the way Brenda Drake writes so it really helped me a lot. I don't want to say a lot about what happened because it could have spoilers about book 1 but let me just tell you I loved it. I could try to explain to you more about this book and the world it's a complex world and it would take a long time to explain it. I would also mess everything out and in the end we would end up all confused so it's better if you read the series :P.

Gia was still amazing. There was a point where she couldn't stop thinking about something that happened between her and Arik and how heartbroken she was but we're talking about a 16 year-old so I forgave her about it. I loved that Bastien was featured even more in Guardian of Secrets. I loved him and I wouldn't mind to see even more from him but I'm still not sure I trust him. Then there's Arik and I just have to say that I miss Arik because the Arik in this book is not the one I know. While everything is explained I still wanted to see more of "him". And btw, in case you haven't noticed it, there's a love triangle. I normally don't like love triangles because normally you can see with whom the main character will end up and it's normally used just to add more drama. Well, I have no idea who Gia will choose. I know with whom she is now and I know who I want her to be with (even if it's a close race) but I have no idea how this will end (even if I think one of them might die). But anyway, once again I loved almost every character in this book. While this is told just from Gia's POV you still can get the sense about all the other characters and there are so many to love. This is one of the best things in this book, this and the fact that family and friendship is what matters.

Overall, this was a great follow-up for Thief of Lies and I loved it. I can't wait to read the third book and to see what's about to come in Gia's journey because let's be honest, things are not looking good for her and her friends right now.

Brenda Drake knows how to write a book jumpers story. This book will keep you intrigued from the beginning to the end and make you anxious for what is to come in the series! Although this story is targeted for the YA, I believe that anyone can read this series and appreciate and enjoy it.

Gia is a Sentinel, which is a knight with magical abilities to fight beasts and other creatures. When you are a Sentinel, you are not supposed to marry another Sentinel. Your mate is chosen for you and pretty much no questions are asked. When Gia starts dating Arik, they have to move to a different place to avoid the people that are coming after them for what they are doing. Arik is also a Sentinel. With Gia being known as the "doomsday child" because both of her parents were Sentinels, she knows that if there is any chance that she and Arik are going to make it that they have to leave the area they are in and that is what they do.

Along the way there is Conemar that is an evil wizard that is trying to ruin them. Gia meets Nick, Conemar's son and Gia's cousin and begins to go on some tasks with him. Arik breaks up with Gia and goes about his own way for some reason. Gia is not understanding what is going on. While Arik and Gia are seperated, she meets Bastien. Bastien is who Gia is betrothed to anyway and he is a wizard. Remember, in this story, things are not always waht they appear and you never really know what is the truth and who can be trusted.

Gia and Nick are on a mission and Gia sets up a trap for Bastien. Will he be able to get himself out of it or will he fall just like Gia wants him to if he is wrong? Will Bastien be able to win over Gia's heart, even after someone comes back in the picture? You have to read this one to find out! I love that this is a library jumpers book! Such a great plot and story line! I can't wait to see what is next from Brenda Drake in this series!

Guardian of Secrets is the second installment in author Brenda Drake's Library Jumpers series. This is a story that is filled with action, heartbreak, library jumping, a return of a major villain, and enough secrets to keep even the most stubborn reader entertained right to the very end. Protagonist Gia Kearns and her friends have gone into hiding after their encounter with Conemar. Gia is a sentinel, aka a magical knight, who was introduced to an entirely new world after being pulled into a magical portal in Thief of Lies.

A world where Gia, like the rest of her sentinel teammates, is able to travel to different libraries around the world. But, the most important mission for Gina, is to find the remaining magical keys aka Chiavi. She's already collected several of them already. It has become Gina & Nick's mission to search for the remaining Chiavi since they seems to have the magical touch when doing the actual research and jumping from library to library. In between her Sentinel life, and the search for the Chiavi, she's is also expected to attend High School.

HS is where the twisted storyline, and intrigue comes from.
HS is where Gina finds that her connection to Arik is severely tested thanks to a new character who really pushes Gina's buttons. I must say that this divisive behavior bothered me because there was no rhyme or reason for what happened. Yet, in the end, after everything that happens between Gia and Arik, I don't know where my loyalties like. I like Bastian, the wizard who is presumably betrothed to Mia and who apparently Gia also has feelings for. Yet, Arik was there first.

Nick has become almost as important to this series as Gia. His father has twisted things so much, that he has a collection of Sentinels, Wizards, Hunters, and others following his direction. Nick's struggle with his new status, his parentage, and choices that he will have to make in the next installment, makes me eager to read the sequel. There are a whole lot of other interesting characters in this book, including The Red, has set this series to some amazing places, and I do believe, things will only get more twisted when all is said and done.

I have reviewed several of Brenda Drake's novels, but I have to say, this has been my favorite. I wish I had read Thief of Lies again before reading Guardian of Secrets though, because there were many times I was trying to recall who certain characters were, or specific events that had happened. Brenda Drake did a decent job in her attempt to jog my memory throughout the novel, but I still felt lost at times.

That aside, Guardian of Secrets brought out a lot more dynamics between the characters. I felt a lot more connected to them. There were also new characters, settings and dangers that really took things to a new level. Like in the first novel, you aren't always sure who the good or bad guys, even at the end. I loved how she kept me guessing.

I highly recommend reading Guardian of secrets (after reading Thief of Lies, the first book in the Library Jumpers series). I am giving it 4 out of 5 Stars.

Thank you to Entangled Teen for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for review!

I read Thief of Lies about a week and a half ago, and it left me feeling rather indifferent. I liked it, but I just couldn't get into it as much as I wanted to. However, I was excited to see where the story went and was excited at the chance to read the sequel, Guardian of Secrets! This book did not leave me with the same feeling as the first, but quite the opposite. I absolutely loved this book!

Gia Kearns is a Sentinel- a guardian that jumps into books to travel to different libraries around the world and protect humans from mystical creatures. It's not all its cracked up to be, though. People are always trying to kill her, and now she's had to go into hiding. With her Pop and twin "sister" in tow, they're now far away from Gia's old life. If that's not bad enough, her boyfriend Arik is acting strange and is clearly into some other girl. Unfortunately for Gia, she doesn't have time to be jealous or upset, because the end of the world is coming, and it falls on her shoulders to save everyone.

Plot:
Guardian of Secrets picks up right where Thief of Lies left off. Gia, Nick, and the other Sentinels have gone into hiding in the human world and now attend public school. With public school comes some serious drama, and it definitely hit me right in the feels when it all unfolded so unexpectedly. On top of the drama, Gia and Nick are searching for the remaining Chiavi to prevent the raising of the Tetrad- an evil beast that can control all of the elements and will bring about the end of both worlds. I loved this story line and everything that happened within it. There was action, serious relationship drama, new characters, heartbreak, loss, secrets discovered, and so much more. I read about 78% of this book in one day because it was so fantastic that I just couldn't put it down! There was so much growth of the world that has already been established and I really enjoyed getting to dive deeper into this beautiful, magical story.

Characters:
I don't think I was able to connect to any of the characters when I read Thief of Lies. Not because they were written poorly or anything like that, but because I just didn't feel invested in them. Sure, I liked Gia, and I guess Arik was alright, but none of them really stood out or made a huge impact on me. Guardian of Secrets completely changed that. Gia has grown so much between books and I was blown away by how mature she was in this one! Having to balance her Chiavi hunt with being a Sentinel, going to school, and dealing with her wonky relationship with Arik, not to mention having to constantly help Nick with his newly unlocked Wizard powers seems like almost too much to handle at once. Gia somehow manages it all and is able to help save the world with time to spare. I just loved how much she grew as a character not only between books but also throughout Guardian of Secrets. She's so strong, and even in the midst of having her heart broken, she is able to pick up the pieces and move on thanks to the wonderful support system she has in the other Sentinels. Speaking of support, the girl power element was so wonderful to see in this book! Too often, we get girls that are catty and constantly fighting against each other or trying to bring other girls down. In this book, Gia is surrounded by strong, supportive females who work hard to build each other up instead of tear them down. Faith, Deidre, and Lei were always there for Gia no matter what she was going through. Even when Gia thinks that her and Deidre aren't getting along, Deidre surprises Gia by completely ending a friendship because she doesn't want to see Gia get hurt. I just really appreciated the supportive, strong females in this story and I hope to see more of it not only in future Library Jumpers books, but in other YA books as well. Another character that I really liked seeing grow up and evolve was Nick. It was hard seeing him struggle to get acclimated to his powers, and there were times that I just wanted to give him a hug, but I loved the relationship between him and Gia. They're such a great brother-sister (they're actually cousins but they're definitely more like brother and sister) pair and I just could not get enough of how dedicated to each other they were. No matter what Nick was going through, Gia refused to give up on him, despite people warning her to stay away from him because of who his father is. They were just so fantastic both as individual characters and a duo and I hope to see so much more of them in the next book! As far as the other characters, I thought they were well-written, but I wasn't all about them like I was when it came to Gia and Nick. Although I did love Faith so very much! All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the characters so much more in this book and I was so attached to them in their own little ways.

Writing:
Yes. Just all of my yes. I was sucked in to the writing of this book like a Sentinel jumping through a gateway book. Brenda Drake is a fantastic writer and I love the way that she creates and builds upon the worlds that she creates. With the world of Library Jumpers, she's created a really unique magic system that is still evolving and characters that you want to invest your time into following. I read one chapter and realized that I was going to love this book based off of only one chapter. It's so easy to fall into this world and get caught up with Gia and her relationship drama with Arik, or Nick and his growing Wizard powers, or even Faith and her cooking misadventures. Having a book that is so beautifully written that you're easily able to picture the numerous locations that the characters travel to makes reading that much more enjoyable, and Guardian of Secrets does just that. There's never a moment where you feel lost or out of place because there's just so much depth and dimension to the writing that you really feel like part of the story. Which is a fantastic feeling when you consider you're reading about a girl who can use a book to visit libraries all over the world!

Guardian of Secrets was filled to the brim with magic and fun! This is the second book in the series, and I was easily transported back into their world right from the start. The pages were filled with friendship, laughter, tears, betrayal, love and trust. And I happily found myself addicted, since the characters continually pulled at my emotions. I absolutely loved Guardian of Secrets, and I can't wait to discover the rest of Brenda Drake's books!

His face went serious. “Gia…”
“What?”
He stepped closer to me, lifted my chin toward his lips, and kissed me.

The story starts off right where Thief of Lies ended. Gia, Nick and the Sentinels have gone into hiding in the human world. They attend school, and I found myself completely absorbed in the drama that unfolded. On top of school, they were still training, and Gia and Nick were tracking down the remaining Chiave, which are the keys to the Tetrad. I can't say too much more about the plotline, without huge spoilers, but know that I loved how the storyline evolved.

If someone’s soul could die, mine was withering with each painful step.

Speaking of evolving, I'm happy to say that Gia has grown up and matured. Her immaturity in Thief of Lies bothered me, but I'm so impressed with her now! What I loved about her most still held true, she continued to stand strong, to not back down, and she tried to do what was right again and again. And while she could still be rash and impatient at times, I expected it since many people she loved were in harms way. So Gia rightfully earned my love and respect!

I felt safe with Bastien around. Cared for in a way I hadn’t been before, even with Arik. I might not want to admit it, but I’d felt that way since the day I’d met him.

Arik also earned my love and respect, and well, that just made me want to cry. I know that sounds weird, but he's not the one I want to ultimately end up with Gia. I wanted to remain ambiguous towards him, so I wouldn't feel bad if and when he wasn't chosen. You see there's a love triangle that is done fabulously in this series! On one side is Arik, a Sentinel like Gia. Their love is forbidden but Gia is a little obsessed with him and vice versa. At the start of this book they're together, but another girl keeps coming into the picture which made me ecstatic. Because on the other side of the love triangle is Bastien, a Wizard, who Gia was betrothed to as a child.

".....There’s nothing more attractive than a girl who can decapitate a beast.”
I laughed. “So you like the violent type.”
He quirked a mischievous grin. “There’s nothing better.” - Bastien & Gia

From the first moment Bastien appeared, I fell head over heels in love with him. He knows what he wants in life and will do anything to get it, which is so sexy! Not only was he loving, caring and let Gia have her independence, but what he sacrificed for Gia *clutches heart*. I desperately want to talk about that but won't because of spoilers. But that event brought about his protective side. And even better than Bastien being protective was his jealous side. So hot, he was so unbelievably hot! So in case it isn't obvious, I desperately and wholeheartedly love Bastien!

“I have desires, and need a wife.” - Royston

There was a whole list of characters that I loved. Especially Lei, Faith and Dierdre! It was so refreshing seeing strong woman support one another and continually raise each other up! I loved it! But another character stood out loud and clear and his name was Royston. He became a quick favorite! Royston spoke those words in the above quote but here's the thing, I can't tell you who or what he is, or even how he fits into the story, but know that I felt guilty for even liking him. Especially since he was so blunt and had no filters at times. But he entertained me, and I hope that some of my guesses pan out for how his story will proceed!

Before he could swing it, I aimed my sword and threw it like a javelin. The blade flew through the air and punctured the upper left side of his back, making a sickening tearing sound as it broke through his flesh.

So Guardian of Secrets was such a huge win for me! I laughed, I fell in love, I sobbed and I closed the book with the hugest smile on my face! I loved that yet again the story continually built, and that we started to see more sides to the huge picture that is unfolding. And while I guessed how a few things would play out, I was happily surprised and even shocked with a few of the twists! So I can't wait for the final book, because this series continues to get better and better!
