A bachelor auction, family conflict, redemption and acceptance. Did I mention the insane chemistry between Alexander and Morgan? The pace is fast, the story pulls you in and I can't wait for the next sexy bachelor! Naima is on my auto-buy list. I love her stories and think this twist on Cinderella is fabulous!
I love stories where the people kinda dislike each other only to fall hopelessly in love. This was one of those and it's thoroughly enjoyable. Alex is closed off, cold, and hiding all his feelings. Morgan is hurting, rejected, and trying to hide her pain. Both want businesses that hold their hearts. To do this they must become engaged. The byplay between them is fun flirty and engrossing. The storyline is exceptional and well done. Secondary characters are interesting and make you want to keep reading. Definitely worth reading.
This is such a fun series! I really enjoyed Alexander and Morgan's story--enemies to lovers, fake relationship, major family issues, serious chemistry; this story has them all. Ms.Simone definitely knows how to write a romance that will keep you turning the pages, and secondary characters that will make you hope for future series books.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A Millionaire at Midnight is a sexy, layered read. Morgan has been forced to attend a charity bachelor auction a year after her best friend Khloe (from The Millionaire Makeover) was reunited with her true love, Niall, at the same auction. Her mother seems to think a round of parties and events will stave off the embarrassment of Morgan losing her fiancé to her own stepsister. Morgan doesn't agree, but she loves her mom, so she's there. While there she has to deflect the malicious gossip directed at her from two of her so called "friends" so she throws out a line about finding a man who can deliver a big bank account and some fun between the sheets. Unfortunately, Alex hears her deflection and pegs her as a gold digger.
But, Morgan couldn't be further from a gold digger. She's kind, compassionate and has a huge heart. When she purchases Alex, (unknowingly, as he is masked as all the bachelors being auction off are) she sets into motion events that will change both hers and Alex's lives. Karma loves her, though, and when she finds out that Alex is not only the man who thinks she's a gold digger, but soon to be her new boss, she's mortified. Does she let the mortification show? Of course not! She's strong and tough, and has been schooled in socialites' ways by her mother, her rich, deceased father and rich, deceased stepfather.
I love the contrast between Alex, the controlled, seemingly cold CEO and Morgan, the warm, funny and sensual "socialite". She helps him to feel again, even though he fights their attraction with everything he's got; and he grounds her and makes her feel beautiful again, which is something she had been lacking since her loser of a fiancé abandoned her in favor of her stepsister. Their connection, both emotional and physical, is really sexy and heart warming. I especially enjoyed seeing Morgan peel back Alex's reserve and get to the heart of his rather cold façade. When they bare themselves to each other and talk about their emotionally barren childhoods, it helped cement their bond.
Naima Simone is fast becoming a favored author of mine for her excellent writing and lovable, sexy, somewhat damaged heroes and smart, feisty and independent heroines. I can't wait for more of her always amazing stories.
WOW! This book had me at the beginning. I loved Morgan and how she tried to protect herself. I thought a lot of her with how she didn't show her heartbreak. I thought it was funny how she first met Alex. It goes to show that when you walk up on a conversation that things are not always what they seem. My heart broke for Morgan and I really didn't see how she could keep going like nothing happened. The ending to this book really made me smile.... It isn't your every day story. I promise you that!
This is a great read and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Apologies for this being late. Should have posted yesterday but I honestly forget. Please don’t kill me Ms. Simone. You know I love you. In fact, one of your Indulgence books was on my top ten list from last year. The book I’m talking about is Aiden and Noelle’s book. Damn! Talk about all kinds of sexy and even better, the friends to lovers trope. You know how I love my tropes. Ms. Simone surprised me with this book. She had not one, not two but three different tropes going on in this book. Enemies to lovers, boss to an employee and of course, the marriage of convenience. Crack baby, just crack for this junkie.
Ms. Simone delivers a sweet, emotionally powerful story about two people that have been hurt badly by past relationships including from their family that I really didn’t think it was going to work out for them in the end. Alex isn’t your usually Indulgence hero. He never comes across as the AlphaHole. In fact, he’s more beta than anything. Loves to read, dislikes crowds and loves his half sister and hates his father for everything that he did or didn’t do about her and Alex’s on upbringing. If there is a hero that needed a hug or two, it’s Alex. Not that he is wimpy but he just knows that besides Kim, his sister, he isn’t cut out for anything lasting when it comes to relationships.
Morgan is just so damn funny. Snarky but that attitude is covering up for the ultimate betrayal. I just can’t even…I mean really? By her step dad and then her step sister? Hell no and ick. I did, however, love her sister Merri and their mother. She knew that she was loved and taken care of but what really got me is that she could have gone the whole socialite role but no, Ms. Simone wrote her story with dignity and grace. And a bit of snark when needed. I also liked that fact that she had an actual job. Very smart, good at what she does and has a heart big enough for her charity.
Now the sexy times are great..well, Ms. Simone writes them they way I like them but I also liked the aloofness, too after their first time. I kinda expected it but instead of the big insta love thing after their first time, it instead made both of them think about having an actual relationship with each other and that scared the crap out of both of them. They realized that all the snark, dancing around each other was just foreplay for them. *sigh*
Again, I LOVE, JUST LOVED this book. A great edition to the series and no one writes for Indulgence like Ms. Simone. I almost feel like she interviewed me when she started writing for the line and asked me what I liked and didn’t like. Or let me beta read for her. One or the other, she just gets me and my loves.
I don't remember what made me pick up this book. The trope of fake fiance isn't one of my favourite themes. Yeah I do read them but not often. There was something which made me read this book and am I glad!! By the time I had finished chapter 2, I was hooked.
From the beginning, the author had me emotionally reeled in. There were such a variety of feelings and emotions going through my head while reading. The first few pages saw me upset and angry and hurt on behalf of Morgan and then the helter skelter ride of lust and like between Morgan and Alex. It was a whirlwind and I survived it unscathed with a very good read under my belt.
The beginning started off with a bang with Alex's dislike of Morgan and Morgan's playful wrong acting of a gold digger. It had me cackling with glee early on. I loved Alex's reaction on understanding Morgan and her character. And I also was moved by the person behind Alex's bland wall.
Morgan and Alex are both cut from the same cloth but use different ways to stay sane. Morgan is a very sweet person who had me mad at her step father's treatment. I am still not sure if I like her step sister or not. On one hand, I am so mad at her but on the other hand I am glad because without her Morgan would have missed Alex. Alex feels so much that he shutters himself in tight not to show them out. Again, his father made me so mad with his partiality. This book has so many characters and if I don't love them, I am mad at them. Inspite of it, I loved reading the interactions among them and the way they impacted each other.
This was another fast read. The romance was neither too edgy nor soft. The story's flow was at perfect pace and I loved getting to know the protagonists. I can foresee myself reading more of the author's works.
My one line review : A romance which evokes strong emotions.
My rating : 5/5
My reread factor : 4.5/5
A Millionaire at Midnight is a charming, light romantic comedy with perfect one line zingers. It’s the perfect “fake fiancée” romance without all the angst. It’s a fun, light hearted couch snuggle. Morgan is lovable, sassy, adaptable and the perfect opposite for Alexander’s arrogant and serious business façade.
Morgan Lett is not used to being labeled as a gold-digger. She is a Boston socialite with her own trust fund, has a Master’s degree and a full-time job as the perfect executive assistant. All she wants to do is make it through the charity auction under the blanket of humiliation of being jilted for the other woman – her half-sister. This jilted-anxiety propels Morgan to bid for Alexander Bishop and she wins.
Alexander Bishop hasn’t meet a gold digger he didn’t like. His first impressions of Morgan are not under the ideal circumstance. Plus, he learns she will be his new assistant because of a business acquisition. He makes plans to fire her immediately but fails.
When she discovers her favorite charity, Phoenix House, may be in danger of closing its doors, her plan to help save it proves to be her undoing. This new development forces Alexander to reevaluate his predisposed assumptions about Morgan may not be accurate.
Their arrangement to pull off a fake engagement and wedding is hard to keep on track considering their fierce attraction for each other. Morgan is left falling for her boss while pretending to be the perfect fiancé and wife. Alexander is dealing with judging all woman based on his past relationship. The book’s charm comes from the way Alexander and Morgan negotiates the absurdities of their fake relationship.
This was a low rating for me. Neither of the characters were appealing and I didn't find the situations believable. We are going to run a promo only tour on 2-23-17 for the title through IndieSage PR
Morgan's best friend was Khloe and her daughter SInead was Morgan’s goddaughter. Morgan’s fiancee Troy had broken their engagement for her stepsister Cynthia. Morgan felt humiliated and stupid. Morgan was on her way to the Rhodonites Society annual Masquerade Bachelor Auction. Morgan was only going because her mother was forcing her to. Morgan had been the former untouchable darling of Boston’s social elite. The only good thing this round of parties and outings Morgan was able to Network for phoenix House- a non-profit organization that helped women fresh out of abusive relationships or homelessness in gaining a solid footing in their lives. Morgan had started by writing a check then volunteering to passionate adversary. In the auction Morgan decided she wanted Bachelor # 9 there was something about him that was different. When she went to meet the bachelor she realized it was the same man who thought she was a gold digger. He looked coldly at Morgan his name was Alexander /Alex BIshop. Bishop Corporation was his family's business and where ALex was CEO. Her stepfather left everything to Cynthia including the building that housed Phoenix House. Morgan had to get a job which she had and work at it for one year. Then Morgan finds out that Alexander was her new boss where she worked and she couldn't quit. Phoenix house needed that building not to be sold. Then Morgan hears Alex needs a fake fiance Morgan goes to him and tells Alex she will act the part if he will buy the building the Phoenix House is in. Alex was attracted to Morgan even if he didn’t like her Morgan felt the same way.
I liked this story. I felt bad for Morgan at first but things changed. I loved how she was heavily involved with her charity. I felt bad Alex had to hear Morgan let her temper get the better of her but he eventually got to know more of the real Morgan. I felt like I was there with Morgan and Alex and cheered them on. I also felt Alex's’ dad was a butt the way he made rules so Alex could take over the business and also how he treated his daughter. I loved that both Alex and Morgan stuck up for Alex’s sister. All and all a good read. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of the story as well as the plot. I recommend
4 stars
I really enjoyed A Millionaire at Midnight by Naima Simone.
The storyline was well written, the characters Morgan & Alexander were, likable, endearing and had amazing chemistry.
Overall, A Millionaire at Midnight was a fun, sexy and entertaining read.
The Bachelor Auction has been a great series, each book has been a page turner and I highly recommend them.
Thank you to Entangled Indulgence for the advance copy.
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review, I give this book 5 stars. I whole heartedly recommend this book. The hero needs a wife and is willing to bribe the heroine to get one. Morgan is upset that her fiance left her for her step sister. The company that own the building where her non profit in located is about to be sold by her deceased step father's board of directors. The money that Morgan will get from Alexander will help buy the building. No cheating, some betrayal, lust, no abuse.
I'm loving Naima Simone's Bachelor Auction series. The standalone fourth book, A Millionaire at Midnight features millionaire Alexander Bishop and socialite Morgan Lett.
Alex has six weeks to find a fiancée or he can kiss running his family company goodbye. It doesn't matter that he saved the company from going under four years ago. To add insult to injury, his younger sister Kim has signed him up to be a part of the Rhodonite’s Society Annual Masquerade Bachelor Auction. That's right, Alex has the pleasure of spending a long weekend with someone who spends thousands of dollars on him. Talk about being pimped out.
Morgan is having a heck of a year. First her stepfather dies and leaves her nothing. Well, his will does stipulate that she gets the building her beloved charitable organization is currently housed in. She just has to hold down a job for a year. No problem. Things get bad when Morgan finds her fiancé and her step-sister in a compromising situation. Okay, there's just so much a girl can take. Sometimes, a girl just has to let her inner snork out.
After a brief moment of appreciating the view of each other, Morgan and Alex get off to a bad start. Alexander overhears Morgan having a conversation with a duo of mean girls and thinks she only wants a guy for the size of his bank account. Too bad Morgan is the woman who wins him.
Circumstances arise and the two end up making a business transaction. It should be simple. No strings, no expectations, no vertical or horizontal action. Just plain, old-fashioned kissing, to prove in public they are madly in love and can't wait to spend their lives together. What could possibly go wrong? The power of attraction and love that's what.
Alex and Morgan are so much more than they show people. But amazingly, they see the vulnerability in each other. They’re good together. Morgan forces Alex to relax and loosen up. They have some serious chemistry.
Naima has written a story with a heroine who will have you girl crushing in minutes. Morgan is gutsy, full of spark, funny, independent, thoughtful, caring, and passionate. She definitely has what it takes to bring Alex to his knees. Alex is driven, passionate, protective, and caring. He carries around a huge burden. But man oh man, he knows how to turn on the romance to make a woman’s knees buckle. If you’re looking for a laugh out loud romance, with fabulous character that packs some heat, look no further than A Millionaire at Midnight.
Now this series is one that I can totally sink myself into. It is always difficult to put down and book 4 is no different. We met Morgan Lett in one of the previous books and I was intrigued by her. When I realized she finally had her own book I was surprised to discover her backstory.
Alexander Bishop and Morgan Lett have more in common than they realize. Each is equally passionate about what they do and they both do it well. But when her long term plans begin to fall apart, Mrgan negotiates a deal with Alexander. She'll become the fiancee that Alex requires to gain control of the family business he has spent his life building up and he will buy the building which houses the cause that is closest to her heart - a building she is about to lose because her step-sister's company must sell to pull them out of a financial crisis.
What follows is a barrel of laughs and escapades that leave you rolling on the floor or then hot under the collar. A definite must read for those who enjoy watching a surly alpha millionaire get taken down by a minx of a blond vixen with a heart of gold.
I love this series so much. Naima Simone has put such a unique spin on each of these stories that really stem from the same trope almost. Its fantastic. I honestly thought I'd get bored with them but they are getting better and better!
Morgan Lett is an absolute high to read. She is strong and independent and really gives our hero a run for his money in the confidence department. She is anything but shy and it makes for fantastic sparks, in and out of the bedroom :) She was by far my favorite character. Not that I didn't like Alexander because he brought the fire out in Morgan so how could you not like that :) lol
While there wasn't anything particularly new to this fake fiance trope, the story still was fresh and unique and very enjoyable. Morgan and Alex made sure of that. And so did Naima's voice and style. Really entertaining book!

Morgan's just lost her fiance to her stepsister. Forced to encounter the cheating couple at countless society events Morgan makes every effort to get past the pain of betrayal by focusing on her charity foundation. A foundation that is now being threatened with eviction because the owner wants to sell the building.
Morgan has a dilemma because she doesn't have access to the kind of money needed to make the purchase. Her prayers are soon to be answered by Alex Bishop, the bachelor she bid on and won at the Annual Bachelor Auction. Once his mask is removed she finds out he's the man that overheard her private conversation and who now pegs her as a gold digger. Neither one is happy at the discovery of the other.
They quickly learn that they'll be seeing each other everyday since Alex has acquired the business that employs Morgan. All Alex wants to do is to get rid of her and Morgan is equally determined to stay. Morgan makes herself indispensable and one day overhears Alex's conversation with his sister Kim. Alex needs a fiancee pronto because of a contract stipulation set by his father in order to run the family business.
They agree to help one another and discover that neither is really who the other believed them to be. Soon two people opposed to love feel a spark that turns into flames and discover an unexpected love that neither was looking for and sometimes that's the best kind.
The Good, The Bad, and Everything In Between
-Second book I’ve read by Ms. Simone and I really enjoyed the characters. This is tied very loosely with the first book I read, The Millionaire Makeover, but it is absolutely not necessary to read the earlier books to enjoy this one, as there is little reference to those characters.
-The setup. Morgan just got dumped by her fiance, who was in love with her stepsister (ouch). Alex has been left by everyone he’s loved (double ouch). Alex has to prove his emotional stability by getting engaged. Morgan needs Alex to help her save the charity that she loves. Two souls who need to fake an engagement, determined not to fall in love and you guessed it, romance happens anyway.
-Good chemistry between Morgan and Alex. This relies heavily on the bad first impressions leads to crazy hot angry sexual tension, and I’m a fan of that.
-But there’s some good emotional development. Alex is a bit of a nerd, Morgan is the misunderstood pretty woman and each gets to know the other well and through those interactions we get to know them too. I thought their connection was genuine and I liked them together.
-The premise is a tad flimsy but whatevs. It’s a category romance that works because the focus is on the emotional relationship between the two. Could have delved further into the business or addressed the emotional baggage, but it works just fine as is.
-That final misunderstanding/obstacle/climax. Call it what you will, it was telegraphed a mile away, you knew it was going to blow up, and I guess the predictability didn’t help with my belief in it. The reunion that followed was sweet and made it work in the end though, even if it wrapped up a bit quickly.
The Bottom Line
I enjoyed myself. It’s a category contemporary romance that does exactly what I expected, gave me some good feels, some tingly sex and an eventual HEA. I’d recommend it if you’re in the mood for a category and you’re a fan of the fake engagement trope.
Two socialites with very different histories but who can help each other achieve their personal goal . . . Sounds too good to be true? Well life will certainly throw a few spanners in the works for both of them! Morgan Lett has recently been dumped by her fiancé who is now planning on marrying her stepsister. Her stepfather has died and the charity foundation she passionately supports is in danger of losing its crucial base. On top of all that she's bid on a bachelor at a charity auction and won. That doesn't sound like bad news until you realise the bachelor in question is her new boss and he's overheard her saying some things she really didn't mean but was goaded into by gossipy peers putting her under pressure.
He's Alexander Bishop, a millionaire businessman who has helped turn round the family company but whose father really doesn't appreciate his efforts, so much so that he's threatening to prevent Alex from inheriting it - unless he is at least engaged to be married. She needs money, he needs a fiancée and she is more than suitable. A match made in heaven? Well not quite as she's feisty, determined and stubborn, so the sparks will definitely fly but maybe so will cupid's arrows!
There are many laugh out loud incidents, especially as Morgan tends to speak her mind before thinking of the consequences! She's honest, opinionated and just what Alexander needs to rock his world to the very foundations. This is a fun, sweet and sexy romance that is brilliant to escape into, so I have no hesitation in highly recommending!
Many thanks to the publishers for providing me with a copy of this novel via NetGalley. I have chosen to read and review it and this is my honest opinion.
4 stars--A MILLIONAIRE AT MIDNIGHT is the fourth installment in Naima Simone’s contemporary, adult BACHELOR AUCTION erotic, romance series. This is Boston socialite and PA Morgan Lett, and millionaire businessman Alexander Bishop’s story line. A MILLIONAIRE AT MIDNIGHT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Morgan and Alexander) A MILLIONAIRE AT MIDNIGHT follows a fake fiancé trope that finds millionaire Alexander Bishop in desperate need of a wife-to-be. Alexander has only weeks to announce his engagement in order to take over as CEO of Bishop Enterprises-a business he saved from the proverbial toilet. Enter Morgan Lett, a socialite and former PA who also is desperate for a helping hand. But Morgan and Alexander’s first meeting is met with preconceived notions and a quick call to judgment by the man desperate enough to push aside all of his rules to keep control of the company. What ensues is the building relationship between two people whose relationship experience has been less than stellar. Morgan recently discovered her fiancée was in love with her step-sister; and Alexander’s marriage ended because he wife was unable to honor her vows. With Morgan’s return to work she will soon discover that Alexander Bishop is now the man in charge but a man who wants nothing to do with a gold-digging attitude.
The relationship between Alexander and Morgan begins acrimoniously after Alex overhears Morgan spouting about finding a rich man to support the life in which she has grown accustomed but unbeknownst to Alex, Morgan’s proclamations came at a time when her emotions and feelings were destroyed following several accusations by women she cares not to have known. When Morgan offers up a plan that will satisfy them both, Alex will lose his heart to a woman whose own earlier years were fraught with rejection and hurt. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense and seductive.
We are introduced to Alexander’s half- sister Kim, as well as his father Malcolm Bishop ; Morgan’s former fiancée Troy, and her half-sister Cynthia, as well as Morgan’s sister Merri. I am hoping for a happily ever after for Kim as she struggles to regain control of her life.
The world building reveals a little bit of the past; of the pain Alexander and Morgan experience throughout their lives; of Alex’s need to get lost in the books of his childhood fantasies.
A MILLIONAIRE AT MIDNIGHT is a story of romance; a fake fiancée tale that finds two people opposed to another happily ever after but find themselves falling in love against the odds. The premise is energetic; the characters are heartbreaking and passionate; the romance is sensual and sexy. A MILLIONAIRE AT MIDNIGHT will captivate your imagination.
