I really enjoyed this one.Morgan and Alex get off on the wrong foot then fate has a funny way of working when Alex becomes her new boss. Fireworks erupt when these two are together. Soon they're going to need each other to seek what they both desire. Enemies to lovers is how I would describe these two. They have a ton of chemistry. They both have some inner issues to work out. The ending shows how far both Alex and Morgan have come. I loved the epilogue thought it was the perfect touch. One my favorite parts was all the Harry Potter references. Two thumbs up from me for that!

If you're looking for a sexy, fun read A Millionaire at Midnight is the perfect book for you. It is filled with witty and driven characters who share a passionate love story. It's an awesome book.

Right from the first few chapters, Alex and Morgan capture your attention. She's confident and hilarious. He's jaded and desperate. They're both in situations beyond their control and feeling trapped in their options. So even though you can easily predict how their story is going to turn out, you're still pulled into the action because the characters are so great.

Their lives are complicated but you will love being in the middle of their drama because every time they interact, sparks fly. It's exciting and entertaining as hell. Mostly thanks to their banter and sexual tension. It's cleverly written - several times I found myself laughing out loud. And all that verbal foreplay leads to some pretty intense and tantalizing scenes.

Naima Simone has written a story with characters who live and love fiercely thus creating an amazing journey for readers - start to finish. So don't miss their charming romance - A Millionaire at Midnight is a must read!

A Millionaire at Midnight is the fourth book in the Bachelor Auctions series by Naima Simone. Combining some familiar tropes (such as enemies to lovers, best friend's sibling, etc.) with super sexy and engaging romances, they've all been great reads. But I have to admit that this one is my favourite.

Morgan Lett and Alexander Bishop's first encounter sets up a clash of strong personalities when Alex overhears Morgan saying that she's on the hunt for a rich man who can put out in the sack. Thinking she's just another gold digger, when Morgan bids and wins a date with him that night at a bachelor auction he's.. well.. not pleased. Then to top off his bad karma, she turns out to be the executive assistant at a company he's just acquired – meaning she's now his new employee.

Morgan can't believe that the man who overheard her blowing off a couple of gossips and refused to accept an explanation is the same man who is now her bachelor auction date – and her new boss! She's determined to keep her job though, despite their mutual antagonism. When she overhears that Alex needs a fiancee to cement a position with his family company, she suggests a deal – she needs money to help save a charity close to her heart and for that she'll happily pretend to be his loving fiancee. With no other options in sight, Alex reluctantly agrees. But the sparks that fly between them on the surface are just a prelude to the fiery passion that gets unleashed as their pretense heats up. Both Alex and Morgan have been hurt in relationships in the past – can they trust that what they are discovering between them is the real thing?

I loved this story, from its firecracker start to the sweet epilogue. Morgan's protective shell over her heart still has some cracks in it after her fiance left her for her stepsister (ouch!) but she covers with a sassy personality and a strong and confident demeanor. She and Alex have some terrific banter as they jockey for the upper hand in their relationship. Morgan's got some soft spots though, and while Alex could use those to his advantage, he quickly realizes that he is more interested in protecting Morgan than hurting her.

Alex comes across as a man with a lot of responsibility on his plate, a hard working executive who tries to turn companies around with the least amount of employee loss as possible. He's a wealthy man but he's got a conscience and a heart. He has a half sister, Kim, whom his father doesn't acknowledge but whom he takes his brotherly duties towards seriously. Divorced from an unfaithful wife, he's not interested in commitment so a pretend relationship with Morgan might come with some perks, but he's not going to let it go too far.

Morgan and Alex together sizzle. There are lots of laugh out loud moments and their love scenes are super steamy. As they open up to each other, their heart to heart conversations reveal two people who have more in common than they expected. Both Morgan and Alex's families play key roles in the story, and as in life, not everything is as black and white as it seems at the start. There are some bumps in the road along the way, but the happy ending they get will leave you with a smile on your face. With an interesting and engaging plot and a fiery well matched couple, this one is definitely going on the keeper shelf!

This book had it all it; was well written, easy to read, and a great story. It was very funny in parts and had me really laughing but it also made me shed a few tears. This book definitely gets your feelings working. This is the only one of the series I have read but if they are all as good as this I am definitely going to read the rest.

I would like to point out that Alex Bishop is a stubborn, infuriating, brooding, delicious man!I could be best friends with Morgan, her personality is just amazing. She has such a quick wit and her responses are classic. There are so many ways these two could have been at each other's throats and so many reasons not too! Both have every reason to be wary of each other and untrusting but that's what makes this book such a winner. You are a part of the gripping story, just willing them to give it a try.

Morgan finds her fiance in his apartment declaring his love for her Step Sister; I can't believe that Morgan could even be in the same room with her Step Sister and Ex Fiance! She's a bigger person than me, that's for sure. Being a part of the Boston socialite is a hard thing to be involved in when you have to brave the gossips. The couple meet in a charity fund raiser and Alex totally gets the wrong impression of Morgan. Things become a little more difficult when she wins a date with him and then discovers that he is her new BOSS! What a great story line and it only gets better.

I would recommend you take time out of your life to read this.

Morgan is just a big ball of sass and fun. She uses it mostly as a shield but once she sees how much of a rise she can get out of Alex then all bets are off! She just amuses me to no end and I really want to become friends with her – smart, mouthy (but not mean), and just full of pop culture knowledge, I think we could hang for sure.

While he doesn’t have the best first impression of Morgan, and every meeting since has had her getting under his skin, Alex can’t deny that she’s as intelligent as she is sexy … and snarky. But his emotional scars go real deep and he’s not willing to open himself up to pain. He’s much safer if things stay business only and he keeps to himself.

But spending time together, pretending to be engaged, quickly has things heating up and Simone sure knows how to bring the spice! And even better, they are just as compatible outside the bedroom as in. They understand each other and they help fill in some of those pieces that the other needs. Morgan brings some lightness that Alex’s life doesn’t have enough of and he helps her get her mojo back again. Of course with these two hesitant to trust again someone is going to be running for the door sooner rather than later. It’s handled really well though and there isn’t a whole lot of angst getting us to that point and back around to the HEA that you know they both deserve.

This could have so easily been a story about a couple of rich, hot, beautiful, people who were all “poor little me, no one loves me”. But it SO wasn’t. Simone does such a wonderful job making these characters complex and full of hurts & fears. Both of them have been let down by people who were supposed to love and understand them (in Alex’s case, it’s been going on for years), so neither is all that anxious to give someone else a chance to hurt them again. But of course the heart isn’t always good about following the plan :)

I loved this. The writing was great, consistent and kept me interested. A little on the 'drink-me-slowly' side but the action was fast-paced enough to get my heart pounding, in more than one way! I really found Morgan endearing. I loved the strength she refused to give up when it came to dealing with the public, and though it was a bad thing to keep it all inside and isolate herself, there's nothing that beats a bad A attitude who knows that she'll survive. I'm glad Alexander was in her life. The way they were introduced together was hilarious, and I just love those misunderstandings that turn into something hot and unexpected. The hate-first-love-later relationship goals.

If you love romance and drama and smart planning (dedicated characters, man) totally check this out. It made me laugh out loud and some of things that happened, and my chest definitely ached on more than one occasion for Morgan. Gah, I love. Love it all.

4 - "Bring me in from the cold..." Stars!

Naima Simone returns with the fourth book in her Bachelor Auction Series; A Millionaire at Midnight, and if there was a couple that got off on the wrong foot, it is Morgan and Alexander.

IMAGE.

I really like this series, the author isn’t shy about giving her heroines balls as big as her heroes in the attitude and confidence department, and it makes for some great verbal sparring and sexy-times.

The woman was a walking, snark-wielding danger sign.

Both of them are nursing their own hurts and carrying baggage from their pasts, something neither of them are particularly interested in talking about when they first come together, but as they look past their initial assumptions of the other, they start to realize that maybe they have more in common than they originally thought.

"We’re a pair aren’t we? Two people left disillusioned by those who were supposed to love us."

Nothing new or particularly different about the plot, but it’s the authors characterizations and story-telling that always keep me entertained and reading, and A Millionaire at Midnight certainly fits that bill with ease. Morgan and Alex together were spicy hot and I liked that the author took a little time to give them a chance to get to know each other before taking the turn to sexy-times.

"I wanted what I haven’t seen you give anyone else."

Still plenty of scope for more books from this series, in fact my one gripe is the fact that we didn’t actually get to read of the weekend that Alexander was supposed to take Morgan on as part of the prize from being the highest bidder for him at the auction. Hopefully Merri, sister of Morgan will get a book herself at some point in the future too.

When Alex mistakes Morgan as a gold digger, he doesn't know that she will be the one to win the bid on him and that come Monday morning, she will be his new executive assistant.
Morgans stepfathers stipulation in his will states that she has to work for a year to save her charity building. So now she's stuck working for Alex.
Alex needs a fake fiancée to become the CEO of his family company. Morgan offers to become one in exchange of Alex buying the charity building.
The millionaire at midnight is a fast paced, fun, sexy and entertaining read, that I had a great time reading. The secondary characters were as much fun as the main characters, and I hope we get Kim's book soon.
A definite recommendation.

A Millionaire at Midnight is an overall sweet, fun, sexy and romantic novel that I really enjoyed reading. From the very first page I was hooked and as the story progressed I was stuck rooting for both Alexander and Morgan. Both main characters have encounter some heartbreaking events that made their union something I couldn’t help feeling emotionally invested in their HEA. While they were brought together in an unfortunate arrangement with love not in the equation, I loved reading then grow to care for one another. I have read the other books from this series and each one gets better and better. For me it was a 4.5 stars novel.

Take an ordinary, but beloved story. Spice it up with sass and elevated heat levels. What do you have? A Millionaire at Midnight? From the moment she opened her mouth in The Millionaire Makeover, Morgan made her presence known in a big way. Smart mouth, big heart, huge pocket book and a dirty mind. She helped Khloe navigate the rough terrain of heartbreak, now it's her turn. Not a run of the mill Cinderella, she has a personality that can be offensive until you get to know her, but behind the rough exterior lies the hope of acceptance and the pain of loss and betrayal. Now she needs that knight in shining armor to help her. Enter Alex who's no Prince Charming, but could use some rescuing of his own. Ms. Simone added her own brand of hearty sizzle to a sweet and turbulent romance. She proves she can do soft and sweet as well as she can hot and heavy.

A Socialite jilted by her fiancé for her step-sister desperate to hold onto the building that houses her Charity Foundation; A millionaire cynic in desperate need of a fiancée in order to obtain the CEO position of his family dynasty. On the night they met at a masquerade bachelor auction neither knew their lives would be changed forever.
In an attempt to put gossipy socialites in their place Morgan Lett inadvertently gives Alexander Bishop a less than stellar view of her character, unknowingly bids on him and then proceeds to insult him to his face. This sucks because the prick just happens to be her new boss. Could things get any worse? Of course they can because first thing that Monday morning he fires her. Megan then convinces him to give her two weeks to prove how vital she is to his newly obtained company.
Alexander Bishop doesn’t believe in lasting unconditional love. It didn’t last with his mother who walked out on him when he was a child, not with his father who basically ignored him his entire life and refused to claim his half-sister, and certainly not with he’s ex-wife. For Alex, most people equated love with money and hearing spoiled rich Morgan Lett explained how easily she could land another big fish only proved his point. His father telling him the only way he would be named CEO of the family company was if he proved he was engaged by a specific date pretty much sealed it for him; and the clock is winding down quickly to produce this fiancée. When Megan overhears his conversation with his sister, she manages to convince him that they could help each other. She’d be his fake fiancée and in return, he’d purchase her building and in the end, they’d each walk away….no strings attached….win/win for them both.
Quick fast moving read and quite funny, I loved Morgan and her quick wit so much so that I felt like we were separated at birth. This is my first Naima Simone book; it’s quite clear in her writing that she is of lover of books and film. She uses references quite a bit. At times the references were a bit distracting…too many used. If you read the books she referenced it wasn’t too big of a deal but if you didn’t, it could be somewhat distracting. At the same time I guess it could make a reader put the book on their TBR list. There were a few references to movies…the balcony scene between Megan and Alex to me right to the balcony scene between Vivian and Richard in Pretty Woman. My favorite reference was the Earth Kitt “I’m not wearing any panties” to Marcus in Boomerang, one of my all-time favorite films.
While there were many funny moments, there were moments that tugged at my heart; like when Alex describes his childhood to Morgan…totally tugged at my heart. When Alex’s half-sister Kim interacts with their distant father or when Morgan struggles with her feeling towards her step-sister. At times the story seemed to be a bit “wordy” if that makes any sense, I felt like it dragged out moments unnecessarily. There was also the dialect that Morgan and her sister used. It was like the two socialites wanted to show their “street-cred” sometimes it works but there were times where it didn’t, it just kind of had me rolling my eyes. For the most part I really enjoyed the story.
Sometimes I will read the author acknowledgements and sometimes I don’t. This one I happened to read and it’s nice to see that Naima and I share the same childhood crush in Ralph Tresvant of New Edition! So Naima, I guess it’s safe to assume you were doing the same thing I was doing recently…watching the New Edition Story!
So I will definitely be looking to other books by Naima. I was very interested in Kim…wonder if we will get her story?
Here’s just an example of Morgan’s humor….
“I believe I must have missed blackmail under your list of skill on your resume, Ms. Lett,” he finally said his eyes the shade of a darkened sky right before lightning strikes the earth. “It was right under ‘proficient in Excel spreadsheets,’” she replied, forcing lightness into her voice that his piercing inspection damn near obliterated.
So snarky and quick on her feet that Morgan!

Another fantastic story from this author. This book has amazing characters. I just couldn't put it down till id finished it. This story is full of hot and steamy scenes. This book is a fantastic addition to the bachelor's auction series. These books can be read as stand alone read or as part of the series. I cant wait to read more from this author in the future.

Highly recommended

A Millionaire at Midnight by Naima Simone is a thoroughly delightful fake engagement romance. While the trope is predictable these characters are wonderfully damaged and so deserving of love that you just have to read on to make it so. I laughed and sniffled and sighed my way through this story and will probably do it again. Morgan and Alexander will suck you in and make you root for their happily ever after.

Quite enjoyable! Alexander Bishop may not want one but he needs a fiance to inherit the family business. Finding someone who the family will accept won't be easy. Morgan Lett is having a rough time. Her cheating ex fiance dumps her for her sister and now she finds out the charity she works so hard for is in danger of folding. As a pick me up she decides to bid at a bachelor auction and happens to win Alexander. Top tier jerk and unfortunately her new boss. He has a proposal though. One she simply can't turn down. Let the fun begin....

While it's a typical fake fiance story, the author did a great job of making the story fun, fresh, and interesting. Morgan and Alex are great characters that worked very well together. This is definitely a book I would recommend.

My Review:
First response: A fast read! It only took a couple of hours! But now it's 1 a.m., so I'll write the review in the morning after some sleep!

The reason this was such a fast read was the sense of fun and humor about it even when Morgan and Alexander were fighting and the chips were down. You just knew this couple was going to make it. And there were things that were so funny between them. He thought of her as a "walking, snark-wielding danger sign". He knew up front if he got too close, he would fall for her. But they had to work together because they needed each other to get what they each wanted. He started issuing her a copy of "the schedule" for each day's activities. A lame attempt to keep her at arm's length.

But don't start thinking that Alexander is nothing but a walking wallet with a corporate mind. Oh no, he's a real geek. He loves to snipe at Morgan with Harry Potter and LOTR references. He's a true fan. Reading is his favorite way to unwind after work. Literature truly means a lot to him. Morgan finds out just how much it means to him when they finally have hot, steamy sex! I'm not giving anything more away here. You will have to read the book to find out about this part! But eventually, they start to help each other heal and fall in love, of course. It is a romance, right? One that I highly recommend to those of you who have gotten hooked on the rich man romances lately, like I have.

Fresh off a heartbreak and on an anti-men tirade after her fiancé leaves her for her step-sister, the bachelor auction that has snared women their millionaires in Naima Simone’s world is about to work its own magic on Morgan Lett.

And as it typically goes, it always gets worse before it gets better, just like the screwed-up version of the fairy tale that’s given at the very start of the book. Morgan wins a man at an auction, but first impressions have dictated that he merely sees her as gold digger while he’s the most aloof, distant person she’d ever met…and to make matters worse, he’s her temporary boss too. A brashly-made decision forces them into a pretend-engagement which then, predictably, goes awry when attraction enters the picture.

I’m not always a fan of millionaire-type books—they do seem mostly removed from the reality of day to day life—but it’s near impossible to give up the chance to read whatever Simone writes. I cringed at the title, the crazy family drama and sometimes contrived, over-the-top sort of descriptions aside (especially when it comes to how hot or beautiful a character can be), yet the sharp emotions do jump off the page and Simone's lead characters are multifaceted enough to get lost in for a few hours.

Generally though, “A Millionaire at Midnight” is quite a satisfying read, even with the usual, rocky road that the couple in question needs to walk before the climax, the customary grovel and the resulting HEA.

ARC received from: Netgalley

Rating: 4*

Trope: Fake Relationship

Chemistry: Simmering

One-Sentence Summary: Bachelor auction prize -> Boss -> Fake fiance

Review: This was my first introduction to Naima Simone and what an introduction it was!

I loved Morgan, the sassy heroine who always seemed to have a quick-witted reply on the top of her tongue and Alexander the hero with a love of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings was broodingly delicious.

Mentions of fandoms like Criminal Minds and Gilmore Girls made me smile. The only thing that I didn’t really like was the overly sugary sweet ending – scrap gooey baby stuff I say!

If like me you haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading the previous books in the series then do not fear as I am pleased to say that you don’t need to in order to enjoy this one.

I loved this take no prisoner's attitude of Morgan. She puts people in their place left and right. I loved that she doesn't let her hurt show on her sleeve. Even when you can tell that it would hurt. Bidding on a man and a weekend for charity is just want she needs to get out of her funk. But when that man becomes her boss on Monday will it be fun or massive disappointment? Throw in her crazy family drama and her passion for a charity that may be lost you learn what makes Morgan tick and the lengths she is willing to go to keep those safe.

Alexander needs a wife, but he doesn't believe in love. I am not sure why because he knows how to put on a good show of love. But will his show turn into more. When his sister talks him into auctioning himself for charity it takes a turn. His winner is his new assistant. But even though he is attracted to her he doesn't like her because of something he took out of context. Will his loathing hurt his quest for a wife or will it help keep lines drawn in the sand.

I really enjoyed this book although I am not sure how the title relates because Who became a millionaire at midnight? The characters are easily relate able and have unique characteristics. The story progresses at a nice pace and is an easy to follow read.

But they never went on the trip that Morgan won at the auction?

Iam a huge fan of Naima Simone books , there is not one book by her that I have read that I have not enjoyed, so when I got a copy of A Millionaire At Midnight early I was thrilled and I dived into this book as soon as I could and I absolutely loved it.

In this book we are following Morgan and Alexander . In the beginning these two definitely do not get along lol, watching them go back and forth with each other was just fantastic. Morgan is a very feisty strong female character and Alexander can seem very closed of at times so seeing there relationship evolved from where it is in the very begging of this story to where it is at the end was just wonderful.Morgan and Alexander were supposed to be in fake fiancee arrangement but the minute I read those words I was like who do you to think you are fooling you two ? you are perfect for each other lol . Naima Simone writes these fun , sexy , enchanting romances in her books that always leave me with a serious cases of swooning lol, there should be a label on her books that says beware romance will cause extreme swooning lol , all joking aside lol I loved this story ,Naima Simone has written another excellent story with A Millionaire At Midnight.

A Millionaire At Midnight was a sexy , addictive , fun contemporary romance and I cannot wait to get my hands on Naima Simone next book

3.5 stars out of 5..
This is book 4 in her Bachelor Auction series and it was an enjoyable and fast read. I have previously read the other three and really enjoy this author's style. I nearly always read her books in one sitting because her story line and characters never fail to keep me interested, something that I have been having difficulty with lately.
It was so refreshing to read about Morgan and Alex. Her heroines are always so on point for me and Morgan was especially adorable. Cannot recommend this series enough and don't get me started on her Lick series.
