I knew from the very first page that I would enjoy this book. It was sweet, fun, sexy, romantic and I really enjoyed this book overall. I could really root for the characters because they have both been through some heartbreaking events and are incredibly vulnerable. They didn't plan to fall in love and they were both pretty shocked when they did. They both really grew and overcame the things that were holding them back. Once they learned more and more about each other they realized how much they need each other. It was a wonderful read and I hope to make my over to the other books in this series one day.
a total winner. Good solid romance. Enjoyed from the start to the finish. I liked how the author wrapped up the story.
In “A Millionaire at Midnight” we meet Morgan, who just caught her fiancé declaring his love for her step sister and Alex, a gorgeous bachelor who put himself up at a Bachelor Auction for good promo for his company. Their first encounter is far from magical and when Morgan finds out Alex is her new boss things just seem to get worse. But both Morgan and Alex have problems that need solving and soon realize that even though the other seems like the most unlikely solution - they need each other more than either would like to admit.
What follows is fun to watch as each come out of their shell in different ways. We actually get to watch the evolution of a relationship from the beginning. We also meet a few secondary characters, but Millie (Morgan’s sister) is my favorite – the scene where they are at their Mom’s for movie night could be anyone’s house and you can actually feel the love they have for one another.
Naima Simone did it again – a worthy read.
I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley in return for an honest review.
A Millionaire at Midnight by Naima Simone is a fantastic hit-the-spot read.
This is an exciting and hot read that will have you unable and unwilling to put it down until you have finished the story. I abso~lurved this book!!! Another win for the Bachelor Auction series.
An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
Morgan is a very funny character. It must have been fun coming up with all of her one liners. Alex is her complete opposite. I guess it's true, opposites do attract.
Never understood the title but the heart of the book is pretty wonderful!
I really love the Bachelor Auction series and Naima really writes a great book.
Morgan has to show at the annual Rhodo bachelor auction because mummy thinks it's good for her to get out and see men after she's dumped by her ex fiance' for her step sister. Add to that, the stepfather has died cutting her, her mother and her sister out of his will. Morgan has a job, part of something that the step father decided for both girls after college, that they needed to work for a year.
Morgan is a smart cookie and was hired by a friend of her father's and has basically revived the business, yet there are still issues. Morgan's money goes into Phoenix House a non for profit that helps women and women with children get back on their feet. She volunteers there as well.
Back to the auction, when she's cornered by two gossiping botchy sisters about the break up and they had their teeth sunk into her, she made a few statements that were out of character for her, just to get them off her back and ease her hurt. She still flinches when it's brought up. As she turns to walk away she walks into a wall of a man who proceeds to "judgy mcjudgy" her, about being a gold digger and she calls him a prick and they part ways. The auction starts, she's bored, but when one man walks on stage, she's just sparking. So she bids and bids and wins him. And after the auction when she goes to meet him, guess who??? Yep... it's Mr Judgy, aka Alexander. Talked into this by his half sister as good for the business, she meets Morgan and likes her. Alexander has nothing but disdain for her and lets his feelings be known. He's just closed a deal to buy a floundering business and needs to go speak to the man during the party and sees Morgan talking to him, of course his radar is up, she's introduced as his Executive Assistant. Alex sinks. These two now have to work together.
Alex has a bigger problem, his father who is a class A butthead stipulates that Alex must be engaged by New Years or he forfeits his seat as CEO even though he's been running the business and brought it back from the brink of disaster. No love lost between he and his father. His mother left when he was young. He's got a set of luggage about women also because of an ex. So bottom line, Alex is an angry man. Alex fires her first day on the job. Reasons: read the book!!! Morgan bargains with him to stay two weeks so she can figure out what to do. She can't let Phoenix House down. When she overhears Alex and his sister talking about prospective women to fake the engagement with and a disastrous turn of events with Phoenix House, she makes a deal with the devil. And devil he is.
How does this all play out...??? This one you have to read. You really do. The characters are just so well done and I love how Alex stands up for his sister Kim. Great writing. Naima pulled out the stops with the characters in this book, it will yank you one way and then turn and drag you another. Alex is the most abrupt (being polite here) and annoying man to date.
I loved this book and love the series. 4.9 from me.
**arc from NetGalley and Entangled in exchange for a fair review***
I just love Naima's books and this one is a good one.
Bachelor auctions always make a great story starter but this one had the sizzle to go with it.
The chemistry of the rwo main characters was amazing. Even as much as they fought it. That's probably why it blossomed is cuz they both had bad pasts with people and just weren't expecting anything.
I will, read the rest in the series. Keep em coming.
After walking in on her fiancee declaring his undying love to her cousin Morgan Lett is feeling hurt and the subject of much spiteful gossip. Determined to show people she is not beaten, she decides to bid on a major hottie at the charity bachelor auction. Unfortunately the bachelor in question overhears her trying to dismiss her feelings about the recent betrayal to a couple of the worst gossips and decides that she is a brazen fortune hunter. The next day, Morgan is horrified to discover that the hottie from the bachelor auction is now her new boss, Alexander Bishop.
Alex is determined to get rid of the scheming gold-digger from his office, although he has to admit she does a good job, his focus is on finding a fiancee so that he can take over his family's failing business before his wastrel father dissipates it any further. When Morgan's beloved women's refuge is being sold off by her family she needs to raise money fast - and what better way than entering into a fake relationship with her uptight boss and getting him to front the money to save the refuge.
I really liked this book. Morgan was full of snark and quick witted. We see Alex slowly unwind and begin to relax in Morgan's company. My only negative was Alex's secret inner geek, I thought that was a bit odd (even though I too am an adult fan).
Recommended for anyone who likes millionaire bachelor auctions, fake engagements, making things up on the spur of the moment and family dramas.
Loved this book! It's wonderful contemporary romance that made me fall in love with the characters and their story.
Morgan is scarred and damaged from her stepfathers indifference and her sister's betrayal. Alex is just as damaged from his father's treatment. Together they form a bargain to each get something they need, but neither bargained or prepared for their feelings.
Fans of the genre will love this book. while it's part of a series, it is a stand alone novel.
Loved it!! Another great read by Naima Simone. This book had me laughing at some things and at times cheering them on. This book only took me an hour to read. The story drew me in and I couldn't put the book down until I finished it.
