This was my first Sheryl Nantus read and I enjoyed the overall story. The characters are well-developed and wirting is smooth and concise, descriptive without being overly worded and the action really helps round out the story.

He is a stone cold killer who cares only about his military brothers and doing what’s right. Dylan McCourt is used to giving orders and has zero patience for bullshit, making people tremble when they look him in the eye. But Jessie Lyon just juts her chin and says to hell with his rules, she’s not leaving without clearing her father’s name.

This series if full of sexy, alpha bad boys that readers just love and the first book starts them off with a thrilling tale of one such bad boy meeting his match. The chemistry between Dylan and Jessie is off the charts and the energy crackles from the pages and singes their fingers while their romance has sparks flying in every direction with heated clashes and steamy, red hot passion. The story is full is full of emotional turmoil adds depth to the story as well as the strong, bold characters and the readers easily become caught up in their story.

The plot is fast paced, full of thrilling suspense and adrenaline pumping excitement as first Dylan rescues Jessie from the clutches of a crime boss and meets his match in stubborn, kick butt style that gives readers a kick of heart pounding delight because they know this story is going to be a juicy, delicious and electrifying read that they can’t put down.

Unfortunately, I had to DNF Hard Play almost 50% into the book. While there was nothing wrong with the writing or the story line, I just could not connect with either of the two main characters nor their dialogue. However, from the first half that I did read, the action I found to be the most redeeming part of the story. So, while I did struggle with the story, I know other readers will like it and it shows by the amount of stars this book has already received.

Dylan Mccourt was in his office high above the dance floor of the Las vegas nightclub- The Devil’s Playground. The club was filled to capacity. The one way glass and the scenic view gave him a chance to catch trouble before the men of the floor could see it. Than he saw a businessman grab one of the servers butt. Dylan calls down to Ace and tells him to get the men out of the club. Dylan also said there was a woman at the door and to check her card and bring her to his office. Dylan was seldom wrong when it came to someone looking for help from the Brotherhood. Than there was a tap on Dylan’s door and Ace introduced the young woman as Lisa. The Devil’s Playground was a solid entertainment spot with a good reputation and a decent set of DJs who kept up with the latest music trends. Security was tight and polite and anyone trying to cause trouble would be shown to the door quickly and efficiently. Dylan said to Lisa you talked to Peter she said yes and he gave her the business card Dylan now has and sent her to talk to them. Talk to Dylan specifically. Lisa said yes her was her last chance. Than Dylas asked her about her problem. Dylan already had a briefing from Peter but he wanted it straight from Lisa. Lisa said she had a best friend Jessie and lisa gave dylan a picture of Jessie. Jessie and Lisa had met in HS and became best friends. After they graduated they promised to look out for each other. Lisa got a job working for one of the hotels. Jessie joined the Las Vegas PD. She had quit about a year ago and became a private investigator. Jessie has been missing for a week. No phone call, no contact at all. Jessie had went undercover before. When Jessie had started working as a P I they set up a system for when she goes undercover and needs a safety net. Once a day she was suppose to text lisa some random letters. It looks like a wrong number. Maximum going three days without contact. Than Lisa was to raise the alarm. It’s been longer than that and no one will listen to Lisa. jessie was in trouble. On the fourth day she went to Jessie’s apartment with her key and found it had been searched and everything was a mess, clothes everywhere and whoever it was used Jessie’s own keys. Jessie didn’t tell Lisa anything about her client as she respected their privacy. Jessie had been going out at odd hours the last few months. Jessie doesn’t have any family left. Lisa gives Dylan the spare keys to Jessie’s office she had been there once but said she didn’t know what to look for. Dylan and asked if Lisa had went to the cops and she said she had but she could tell they weren’t taking her seriously. The cops didn’t act interested at all. Lisa thinks it had something to do with Jessie leaving the force and not on he best terms. Dylan told Lisa he felt they could find jessie. Dylan represented a group of people who take on cases that are outside the norm. Lisa said she would pay whatever their fee was and Dylan said they would discuss payment after they brought Jessie home. Lisa gave Dylan a folder with everything she could think of concerning Jessie that may somehow help. Dylan than stressed lisa couldn’t say anything about this meeting no matter what. To keep helping people they needed total secrecy. There was something about Jessie in that picture that drew Dylon. Jessie was seeking evidence to convict mobster Edward Moloclavi who had a lot of police on his payroll. Keeping his image clean. Even though Jessie knew Moloclavi had shot her father. Jessie had been working undercover in Moloclavi’s casino. But than Moloclavi believes Jessie stole some information form his office and kidnaps her. Dylan and his team rescue Jessie and they are ready to help her bring down Moloclavi.
I liked this book a lot. I really enjoyed the action and suspense. Also the plot and pace of this book. There was very hot chemistry between Dylan and Jessie. I loved Dylan and Jessie together and how they interacted together. I also liked how they worked as a team. I loved how Jessie used her training to help Dylan and his team rescue her. I liked the closeness Devon and his team had. I loved the characters and the twists and turns of this book and I recommend it.

Dylan gets more than he bargained for when he and the team agrees to rescue Jessie. Their story was fun reading with all the things that a romantic suspense story should be. Full of action, suspense and drama, with the hot guys of the Brotherhood, Dylan and Jessie do get a HEA, but romance isn't the driving force of this book. I read Book 2 "Hard Run" before this one, and can attest that the series can be read in any order. I would like to thank NetGalley and Entangled Pub. for gifting me "Hard Play". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.5 Stars!

Jessie and Dylan are thrown together as they work to bring down the person who had kidnapped her. She is tough and feisty and goes to to toe with Dylan who is a big alpha male. She never backs down from a fight and that becomes a huge turn on for him. As they get closer together they burn off a lot of frustration in the bedroom as they make plans to accomplish their mission. Plans go awry but eventually it all comes out on the right side and they get to plan and execute a life of happiness together.

A quote:
“Was what they had real, or just a rush of adrenaline, their love more an addition to action than true, heartfelt emotion?” (Loc. 2579, ARC)
“Hard Play”, by Sheryl Nantus, is a romantic suspense novel where the suspense plays a significant part. I found the concept and project of the Brotherhood interesting, although the outside-the-law dimension is questionable and can be dangerous.
Dylan and Jessica are strong characters and fall for each other immediately (before they met, he sees a photograph of her and is already lusting). As a woman in a man’s world (Jessica is a cop), the heroine is a compelling female character, as capable as the Brotherhood male members.
The suspense was a bit overdeveloped for my taste, to the point that instead of thrilled I was a bit bored, and the insta-attraction between the couple isn’t my favorite trope, or the passionate kissing while facing extremely dangerous conditions where any distraction could be fatal.

This is an action packed thriller that kept me awake with its suspense filled with turns and twists.
I love to read books with men in uniform (current or ex members) and when I saw the book, I had to read it.
In very short without too much reveal, this is a story about saving kidnaped Jessie Lyon, an ex-cop and now a private investigator who is seeking evidence to convict a mobster. Her best friend Lisa is going to the Devil's Playground Night Club where she's been told there are people who will help her....
It is a nice start of a new series that will be a page turner.
I enjoyed reading this first book and I can't wait to read the next ones.

This is the first book in the series titled Delta Force Brotherhood as well as the first book I read by this author. I am so glad I gave her a try.
The series centers around a group of military men, friends that even though they run a successful and legit nightclub, underground they help individuals that can’t find assistance through the normal channels.
When a young woman seeks them when her friend has been kidnapped, Dylan McCourt, the leader of the group, is determined to help her. Little did he know that meeting the kidnapped gal, Jessica Lyon, a former detective and currently a PI, would change his life.
But the danger that follows Jessie gets hotter, her life is in danger, and she is considered a fugitive and a murderer. All fabricated by the bad guys that are out for revenge.
The plot is engaging, filled with bad guys, hunky good guys, strong female characters and a race to keep Jessie alive.
Will they survive the bad guys and finally get a chance at love or will a turn of events cause them to go their separate ways?
A truly great story. I am looking forward to what else the author has in store for us.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Entangled Publishing and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

If I’m not reading a paranormal romance then you can bet a military suspense is on my reader. I love when sexy strong military or ex-military men/women come together in a brotherhood and fight for what the law isn’t able to do. I think this is a really good start for a new series.
Jesse has gone missing and her best friend, Lisa, is going to do anything she can to find her. When the police fail she turns to Dylan and his team. Dylan McCort runs a night club in Las Vegas, Devil’s Playground, he’s assumed the role as the leader of ‘Delta Force Brotherhood’, a team of ex-military men and women who like to bend the rules to get a job done. Dylan knows he must find and protect Jesse from her capture/mobster that she is trying to bring down. Can he find her in time? Will the team bite off more than they bargained for? These are questions you can answer for yourself when you read the book.
The action is great; the relationship between the characters is fun, the sex scenes are pretty hot. I look forward to reading more from this author and more from this series.

Holy cow! I don't know what I was expecting exactly but I was completely surprised at how well this story flowed. I honestly did not want to put it down. I love strong heroes and this did not disappoint.

Ex-special forces ranger Dylan McCourt is a stone cold killer who cares only about his military brothers and doing what’s right. He’s used to giving orders and has zero patience for bulls***. Most people tremble when they look him in the eye, but not his infuriatingly sexy new rescue mission, Jessie Lyon. She just juts her chin and says she’s not leaving without clearing her father’s name, to hell with his rules. And was that a one finger salute he sees in her eyes or his imagination? Either way, he knows this is one job his training might not have prepared him for.

For fans of Maya Banks’ KGI series, prepare to meet the men of the Delta Force Brotherhood, a sexy new contemporary series where kicking ass and living hard is just how they roll.

Jesse's been working undercover trying to take down a mobster, seconds away from collecting everything she needed before she was captured. She set up a signal with her best friend that if she hasn't "checked in" for a few days, her friend is to try and find her. But she's going to need help and that's where the Brotherhood that bend rules to get things done come in. Dylan rescues Jesse and now he's not sure he want's to walk away from her. He's head of the Delta Force Brotherhood and when Jesse's captor's doctor a video showing her as a murderer, he has to work to clear her name.

I'm a definite fan of Maya Banks' KGI series and this really reminded me of that. If you like romance with action and drama, then this book is for you! They had instant chemistry and I loved the interchange between Jesse and Dylan. There are a lot of Alpha Men introduced in this book so you know that it's an introduction to the books that are to follow. I think for the start of the series, it was an awesome start. I will definitely be reading the other ones. My only issue was all the sex in it...I think we could have had a lot more plot and less sex but that's my personal opinion. I'm just one of those that believe less is actually more. It didn't detract from the storyline, however. Overall, I thought this was a job well-done.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

I love all kinds of romantic suspense especially the ones with ex-military heroes! So there was no way I wouldn't give this one a try, now that its been compared to the KGI series!

Delta Force Brotherhood consists of a group of ex-military men,who work hard to help and rescue those in need. They own a nightclub and at the same time focus on investigative and rescue work too.
When a young woman comes to Dylan, their leader asking for help in finding her best friend, he takes one look at the photo of the friend-Jessie and decides to help her.But when he does rescue her, he never expected to find a woman who is so defiant, infuriatingly stubborn and sexy at the same time.
When she gets into even bigger trouble, its upto Dylan and his brothers to help her clear her name and her father's.

Jessie is an ex-cop who has gone undercover and was working hard to take down a mob boss who ordered the death of her father. She wants to clear her father's name. But just when she is so close to getting what she wants, she gets into trouble. So, its great that she had a code system established with her best friend Lisa, who goes to Dylan for help when Jessie doesn't turn up.
Jessie is surprised to get help from an unexpected resource, and to add more they are ready to help her in her mission too.If only she could keep her hands off the leader for some time!

I think Jessie and Dylan made a great pair and were perfect for each other.Usually we find a damsel-in-distress.But, here Jessie is not one.She is strong, stubborn and intelligent at the same time. She doesn't rush into foolish situations without thinking or planning.
Dylan was a little of the strong and silent type, but was great with Jessie!
Though the plot wasn't that much different from other books, it is still fast paced and keeps us on our toes.
Meeting the other team members was also fun!Sheryl Nantus has given us a promising start to a new series and I hope the next book is about Ace!

Dylan McCourt is in charge of his domain. And he’s a man of many talents. Jessica “Jessie” Lyon is in a real pickle and she needs Dylan’s level of expertise to keep her safe. It has plenty of action, suspense, twists and turns to keep you riveted from beginning to end. This also shows how fast our lives can change. I was impressed that Jessie didn’t let her situation get her down. She used it to her advantage.

Ms. Nantus has created two main characters with strong personalities. This can be a good thing and it can be a bad thing. It’s one that you will go back and forth on from beginning to end. But one thing I loved was how she made an alpha male willing to open himself to possibilities. But just like most males, he thinks he knows what’s best for the woman – some men never learn.

Many years ago, I had the chance to go to Atlantic City. Went to one of the many casinos and it taught me two things. First, I’m not much of a gambler. Two, I know where all the losers go while waiting for the bus to take them back to their hotel. This book would have made my wait so much more enjoyable.

As I was reading, it had me reminiscing about some of my favorite old shows – this would fit in perfectly. The author does such a great job of creating her scenes that you’ll have no trouble seeing the story play out in your mind. It’s a story of patience. Nothing is revealed too soon which kicks up the suspense. We all love our happy ending and you kinda get one here. But it also gets you ready for the next book, which I was happy to see. If this series were to come out on television, I would be a loyal fan. This just means that I will have to continue to read each book as they come out.

This is the first time I've read Sheryl Nantus and I really enjoyed it so hopefully it won´t be the last!

This is story full of action, suspense, angst and romance and I was hooked since the very first page until the very last line.
A band of former Delta Force teammates come together and form a brotherhood to help people that cannot get help anywhere else.

Dylan McCort thought that this case will be very simple. An extraction with no complications: in and our really quickly but he was wrong. He also thought that Jessie Lyon would not represent a distraction for him and that he would resist her with no problems at all and he was also wrong...

Nice characters, interesting plot, nice read!

There is nothing better then getting in on the ground up when it comes to a new and exciting series. No catching up , just waiting for the next one. Anyways this author grabs you by the collar right away when Lisa needs her friend found. This also does give you a excellent foundation that will have you forgetting you are in a novel. This brotherhood has me already too as their no 1 voyeur. Dylan will have his hands full with Jessie giving us quite a few chuckles along the way. Between the heat it blows, and the danger that comes alive you fall for these characters. As this author takes you on the wrap up of this one you do wish though there was another soon.

Give me a group of honest, loyal and kick butt ex military guys who own a club but moonlight as the Brotherhood - a highly skilled team that rights wrongs when the law just can't - and I'm hooked.

Wow! This was a fast paced romance with action, suspense, humor and simmering heat. I loved Dylan, he was a devoted leader, a caring protector and a sexy as all get out lover! Loved him a little harder for the non-cliched way he treated Jessie. There was not cuddling or denying her strengths and skills. He respected her and loved her for being such a strong person. That - sadly - is not very common in romance novels. I'm glad there wasn't a typical damsel in distress scene here. They both worked as a team and relied on each other to come out on top and I really liked that.

Jessie was a pretty great h for the same reason as Dylan was such an awesome Hero. She knew what she could and couldn't do and didn't exhibit any TSTL moments which imo was awesome! Like I mentioned before this has a lot going on right from the start and there's no slowing down until the end. It was intense with all its planning, coordinating, attacking and rescuing going on that I felt the romance part (which was nice) fell behind a bit.

Safety: very safe - No OM/OW drama (Neither are virgin but we don't get unnecessary details about either's sexual past which is a plus!) There's no cheating and ends with a HFN ending. Sadly no epilogue :(
