In “Cheater”, on the night before his wedding, Lucas Thorn got drunk and “cheated” on his fiancée, putting an end to his engagement. But his act went beyond just destroying his relationship - it tore apart two families and the girl he could not stop thinking about (his fiancée’s little sister) would not even talk to him. So to make himself feel better he decides to take cheating to the next level.

It seems to be working for him until Avery Black (the little sister) walks back into his life, as his very desperate for a job intern. What happens next is a whirlwind of hilarious banter between two people who are trying to stay in the present but cannot forget the past.

There are some great scenes with the parents of both Lucas and Avery that will make you laugh out loud as we meet them and some additional secondary characters. This is not my first Rachel Van Dyken series so I know Book #2 will be just as entertaining.

I received a copy of this book through Net Galley for an honest review.

I don't know what to say about this book. Basically, I don't read books that revolves around cheating or anything that deals with it but I want to give this a try because this one sounded very intriguing and it was also written by one of my favorite contemporary author Rachel Van Dyken. Honestly, It's a book that you either hate it or love it. Although, there are lot of things that I felt wrong in this book, I still can't help but enjoy it! It was quite an hilarious read with hot romance and crazy family drama. Lucas and Avery are hilarious characters who made this book even more entertaining to read.

Lucas Thorn wasn't born as a cheater but it all changes when he finds himself in a complicated situation just before his wedding that destroys all his reputation forever. Currently, Lucas works as a VP in a company called Grant Learning that helps assigning tutors to the kids in schools. Now Lucas days are filled with different lady friend for every night of the week except for sunday's that are only reserved for his sister. But suddenly, his past catches up with him when Lucas ex-fiance's little sister joins his company as an intern. After getting thrown out from her last job, Avery is desperately looking for a job and Grant's Learning is her only last hope. When Avery finds out that her new boss is none other than Lucas Thorn who has cheated on her older sister Kayla and also destroyed her family, she wanted to make his life as difficult as possible. Although Avery hates Lucas, she's always been attracted to him and now working with him triggers her unresolved feelings that she always kept hidden from him.

I liked Avery! She's a strong female lead who is sweet, adorable and independent. When she was in high school, her tomboyish and nerdy personality made her feel like an outsider among her beautiful older sisters who are quite opposite to her. Lucas thorn is a handsome manhwore who has commitment issues. At the beginning, I hated his weird lifestyle that really disgusted me but I'm glad that at-least he was honest with every girl. When Lucas starts to redeem himself, his karma comes back and bites him in the ass and trust me, he totally deserved that. After I was finished with the book, I hate him less but it doesn't mean I like him either. Lucas and Avery has intense attraction towards each other but they try pretty hard to deny their attraction. At start, I felt very wrong with their relationship but when It was finally revealed what really happened four years ago, I started to root for them. I loved the banters between them and also the romance which was sexy and hot as hell. As for the secondary characters, I loved Lucas's hilarious Mom and also Lucas and Avery's BF's Thatch and Austin who are as much fun as the main characters and I really can't wait to read to their story.

The plot was interesting and engaging! Even though some parts are predictable, I totally enjoyed every part in it. The sisters thing definitely made this book so fucked up that some readers might feel uncomfortable but I wasn't bothered with it that much. Lucas's mom was a fun character who has brought lots of humor to the plot. The pacing was okay except for a few parts that felt dragged. I always love the witty writing style of RVD and she did it again with this book. I'm glad the book was told in dual POV which provided deep insight into the characters.

Overall, I liked it! It was fun and sexy contemporary read filled with humor, drama and hot romance. The next story is going to be about Thatch and Austin and I'll definitely look forward to it

Another fun read from RVD which, despite its unfortunate theme, was highly entertaining!

I, inadvertently, read some of the reviews before starting this book and when I saw some negative ones, I wondered what had happened to RVD’s writing. Had she decided to take her style and flair for the slightly disjointed but extremely funny writing in another direction or had she morphed into another writer altogether? I’m pleased to say neither occurred, I found this story as rewarding her all of her others, yes I know, despite the title and theme of the book.

Ok, so the anti-cheaters are going to run a mile from this story but it will be their loss. Whilst the form of cheating addressed in this book is not secretive or carried out to the detriment of others, although, it could be said that the girls in question are slightly stupid in their wish to be nothing more than a one-day thing but still, this is a story to be savoured.

The cheater in question is Lucas Thorn. He’s a playboy extraordinaire but you need to appreciate what made him become the man he is today because that’s where the beauty of the story lies. In essence, he grew up knowing three sisters, he was due to marry one, had misplaced feelings for another and ended up in an unfortunate situation with the third - on the night before his wedding! You could say that he deserves everything that came to him when he broke his fiancee’s heart but in some respects, he did do the honourable thing and remained true to himself.

Nowadays, as mentioned above, he’s more than playing the field. He had his regular girls who are all attributed to a day of the week, except Sunday which is God’s day, and also his sister’s. When one girl leaves her position, she is quickly, and easily, replaced. Life appears good for Lucas, although some would question his ethics here, that is until his ex-fiancee’s sister, yes the one he grew up enamoured by, starts working in his office, as his secretary. Avery Black is his new nemesis. When she realises just why different woman visit his office, she finds his whole act atrocious and more than lets him know her feelings on the matter. Avery is extremely feisty and, despite her young age, is more than ready to tackle Lucas Thorn.

Lucas immediately finds that his feelings for Avery have never dimmed and despite finding her infuriating, he also reawakens his need to protect her and as a result, Avery ends up sleeping in his apartment, albeit in the spare bedroom, only to be found there by Lucas’s sister. With an opportunity to cause mayhem within her reach, and feeling slightly mischievous, she starts a chain of events which creates all sorts of problems for Lucas. When she realises that her actions are starting to impact on her as well, the fun really commences and the duo find themselves facing more and more dilemmas which escalate at an alarming, but very comical, pace.

From engagement parties to gynaecological appointments, this is one book which will keep you on the edge of your seat, laughing hysterically and at the same time, hoping that Lucas and Avery can find a way towards their own brand of HEA in a safe and adult manner.

These two were made for each other! They were meant to be, just them and no one else. No matter how many others try and take a taste. Everyone thinks Lucas is a cheater but can he still be a good guy? Could there be more to the story? You see, Lucas just needs a special incentive, and that is what Avery is. Loved the banter and how they talk to each other. It is creative. And he knows just which buttons to push and which ones to use. She doesn't stand a chance! Wait till you read her love for food and you'll get my meaning. This is a very entertaining and creative read.

This book had me hooked from the first chapter! I devoured the story and couldn't put it down! I fell in love with the characters and believed in them wholeheartedly. Avery and Lucas were so genuine and stayed true to character throughout the whole story. The dialogue was so flirty, playful, and funny! I was swooning along with Avery! I was wanting to apply to be Saturday! Lucas' love for Avery was so encompassing and their love story was beautiful. They went through a lot but you know what they say, let it go and it comes back to you, it's yours.

Can Rachel Van Dyken write a bad book? I don't think so!! Every book I have read by her has been amazing. I highly recommend this, as well as any of her other books.

A laugh out loud, lighthearted, swoony romance about a cheater who doesn’t… cheat?

Everyone thought Lucas Thorn had everything he could possibly want. A winning personality and good looks to go with it, a great career and the perfect fiancée. Why would he jeopardize his seemingly picture perfect life by getting stinking drunk and waking up in his fiancée’s sister’s room? Everyone though it was obvious: he was just too good to be true. Ignoring the pain of that night, he embraced the label and became a cheater, multiple dater. Everyone knows the rules, one girl for each day of the week. That way no one gets hurt, right?

Avery Black doesn’t see it that way and isn’t afraid to let Lucas know. Forced to work for the man she once hero worshiped, was her best friend and her sister’s fiancée she can barely tolerate him. But he holds her work review hostage and needs her to fake a relationship with her for the sake of his parents. Can they ignore the kernel of the deeper than friendship connection that previously existed and intense attraction?

I’ve heard that laughter is a great form of therapy and I’m all for having a good laugh as often as possible and Rachel Van Dyken provides a real treat with this story that is silly and kind of childish that you can’t help but laugh combined with sweet sexiness.

Without giving too much away I’ll try to assuage concerns about the book’s title and the hero’s label. Lucas had realized that he was in love with the wrong woman. His fiancée youngest sister. On the eve of their wedding he makes a big mistake and rather than risk hurting anyone else he decides to adopt a no strings attached approach to relationships.

This gets very complicated when four years later Avery starts working for him and gets even more convoluted when they try to hide his nonstandard relationship style from his parents. All sorts of wackiness ensues and I just couldn’t stop laughing because by his own admission, Lucas’ parents are certifiable, just like Avery and himself, both of whom I found endearing.

Avery is strong with a sharp tongue and totally adorable. Behind his sometimes crude mouth and arrogance he’s charming and caring, honest and absolutely redeemable. Their banter is quick, witty and yes sometimes silly, and the romance between Avery and Lucas is an interesting mix of cheeky and swoony. And in the words of the notorious Lucas Thorn: I laughed and cried (from laughter) and in the end I understood.

Cheater is book #1 in the Curious Liaisons series by Rachel Van Dyken. It is a standalone contemporary romance. Told from both points of view and has a happy ending.

This book was a pretty quick and easy read. It flowed so easily and kept me so interested that I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Lucas Thorn is a cheater. He has a different woman every day of the week. One day a blast from his past comes to work for him as his personal assistant. Avery is the little sister of his ex fiancé, that he cheated on. She holds a little anger towards him and hates the person he's become. They are constantly bickering at one another, but at the same time they are very attracted to each other. Their bickering is pretty amusing. His parents are hilarious. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what's next in this series,

Super entertaining and lovely. A 3.5!

Lucas has made one mistake after which he found himself—he was a cheater! So now he has a girlfriend for each day of the week and has no sweat when in need of a substitute, though he does rest on Sundays and spends time with his sister. After losing a big-time job, Avery can't believe her last attempt not to be forced back into her childhood bedroom is to work as secretary of the devil who has ruined her family. First advice: don't become one of his girls. Which she breaks when a failed joke goes back to her, and now she needs to pretend to be his fiancée in an attempt to fix their families and past mistakes.

Van Dyken had disappointed me in The Bet a year or so ago, when I found it badly written and too full of clichés despite being entertaining, worst of all, it was too silly, less mature than a lot of YA's out there. Thus, I had my doubts about picking this one—I certainly had given up on the series that followed The Bet. I'm glad I ignored this and went ahead with the book.

To my surprise, the writing is something between the cheesiness of a romance and the wit of a chick-lit, which I certainly approve. So of course we still have a handful of clichés but a tone entertaining enough that they won't bother you. In fact, I love these tropes—lost love, fake engagement, etc. And compared to The Bet, she's finally learned how to write scenes with characters arguing. It was a relief, as well as a nice time. I did grin a lot during those.

What I didn't like? Both main characters were nice but we see a bunch of others who surely had lots of "screen time" but never became round beyond being mere plot devices. I feel that is one problem in most series, especially this being the first, so it could have been on purpose. I have no idea what the next ones will explore.

Also this wasn't stellar. I was just really surprised at how much Van Dyken has improved, and could finally get what the buzz about her. I'm glad! If you're into this kind of story, you'll probably have a great time.

I wanted to love this more and maybe my expectations were high. After thinking about it a couple days, it really stuck with me though.

Lucas Thorn......well, he was totally honest. That's one thing you absolutely can say about him! And yes, although he had a woman for each day of the week (except Sunday because that's God's day and the day he set aside to spend with his sister), he was completely honest about his intentions with all of them. He was not looking for commitment in any way, shape, or form!

Enter Avery Black.....Not only his new intern, but the younger sister of his one-time fiance and the sister of the girl he cheated on his fiance with......sound f'd up? Well, it was! But there is a reason for what happened in the past, and why their one-time very close friendship came to an end. A forgivable reason?? Well, I guess so. No, it was forgivable. But the person he became was not good.

Even with a hate so strong for him, Avery needs the internship and sucks it up to work with him. But man, she did not hold back with letting him know exactly how she felt about him! And what do you do with all that built up anger and tension? You got! Sex! Hot, steamy, mind blowing SEX!

I ended up really loving the book and can't wait for Austin's story in book 2!

I usually like van Dyken's works but I didn't care for the premise of this and found the redemption hard to believe. Just had a hard time supporting the MC.

*FIVE SEVEN DAYS A WEEK STARS*

With a title like "Cheater" and a blurb about a man cheating and falling in love with his ex finances sister, let me just I had SERIOUS doubts here. They were all completely unnecessary as Rachel absolutely delivers with this one!!

(sidenote it's not exactly what you think you need to read this one!)

Lucas Thorn is every woman's walking wet dream, and let's just say he turns those dreams into fantasies, until a certain strawberry blonde comes bulldozing back into his life, Thai noodles in tote! Their love story is one of real life with ups and downs, crazy parents, even crazier siblings, and a bond that's withstood even more crazyness.

I adored everything about Avery, the bluntness and wittiness she possesses, to her winner takes all take it or leave it approach.

The side characters Thatch and Austin we're great, and I can't wait for their story and hopefully more headlocks (Go Girl!)

A definite 5 star read from Rachel, and though this novel is definitely written by her, the tone and dialogue are different from her others and it rocks!!

Cheater… Cheater… What can I say… Cheater was an OK read.

The basis of the story is about the HOT and I do mean HOT Lucas and how he became a cheater. He “cheated” once, got caught, which resulted in him losing his family and the woman he truly loves. Now the woman he loves is back in his life unexpectedly.

Avery has known Lucas for all of her life. Lucas was the guy she admired, respected and secretly had a crush from afar. After he cheated everything changed.

The story was very predictable. After reading 12% of the story or by time I got to the end of chapter 4, I lost interest and got bored… Never a good sign… I skipped to 60% of the book where the action picked up. The book flowed smoothly from then to the end. I didn’t feel as if I missed any important detail by skipping nearly half of the book. The dialogue between Avery and Lucas was lackluster. Avery seemed immature and annoying. Last 40% was enticing provided a lot of angst. You learned why Lucas started classifying himself as a cheater.

Cheating comes in different forms, it’s not just the physicality of an act that makes the person a cheater.

I decided against reviewing early on GR to respect the author. I did like the beginning of the story but didn't truly enjoy it overall.

This book was an okay read.. I have always loved the books of Ms. Rachel Van Dyken- don't even get me started with Ruin and Elite ( books i can read over and over again). I liked how this story came together and how Lucas was able to redeem himself and the reputation he put out there which is allowing people to assume the worst when it comes to him... Avery meanwhile has always hero worshipped Lucas.. I guess its safe to say she already had this huge crush on him.. But that all changed ( or so she thinks!) when he breaks the heart of her sister Kayla.. Avery doesn't have a choice but to work for Lucas.. It was either work for him or A. live out in the streets or B. go back home.. so while she chose to work for Lucas, she got it into her head to avenge her sister but things do not quite turn out that way... All in all, it was an enjoyable read..

I would like to thank NetGalley, Skyscape and Ms. Rachel Van Dyken for providing me with this ARC.

I will admit I had mixed feelings about reading this book. When I first saw it I was excited, because hello, it's another RVD book!! However, the title also worried me. Cheating as a main topic in a book isn't usually something I read ... it's not my thing. But this is RVD I'm talking about. I had to at least give it a go.

Cheater drew a number of emotions from me, but overall I really enjoyed it just like any other RVD books. Lucas made me angry and annoyed the hell out of me. I just wanted to bang his head against something hard for being so stupid. However, I also grew to love and feel for him. He was a guy who cared in the end, he just had lost his way.

As per usual, RVD has brought her usual flare for dramatic comedy into this book. Some of the jokes are almost slapstick, and the characters become a bit over-dramatic, but I love it. This book also had me grinning from ear to ear and laughing to myself. I thought the banter and quick-wittedness of the characters was great.

Overall, I'm glad I took the chance on this book. If you love RVD you definitely won't be disappointed. And if you're like me with the cheating thing, I'd still say give it a chance. It's not exactly what you think it will be.

I would definitely recommend this and am looking forward to Thatch's story!

I read the synopsis for this one and just knew I had to have it. Lucas and Avery's story was incredibly entertaining. I loved their banter. There was more to Lucas than I expected, and Avery was an awesome little spitfire who made me smile at every turn.
