Rachel's books are always fabulous and this was no different. I enjoyed it from start to finish

I love everything written by Rachel Van Dyken, may it be NA, Paranormal Romance or something as dark as her Eagle Elite series, but I couldn't make myself pick up this book. Simply because of the goddamn title. If this book had any other name I wouldn't even have cared about the title, but that word 'Cheater' was the biggest reason I didn't want to give it a chance.

This is an RVD book, did I really expect some type of big cheater? Apparently... yes, and I wasn't happy with this book.

For a good part of the book I despised Lucas, because he was so... And I was so... *throws plant pot at wall* but I got over it and over time he grew on me a bit, like mold. Ok, not really, I still was annoyed by him for most of the book.

Avery I liked from the beginning, she was kinda shy, but also not afraid to speak up to Lucas.

BUT, big but, as much as I liked RVD's writing style - as always - and as much as I found the banter funny, this will not be my favourite book by RVD, probably will be my least liked book by her, because of Lucas. I couldn't stand him for the fact that once he started seeing Avery, he was still seeing all the other girls right in front of Avery. He was a manwhore and I did not like it.

In hindsight I probably should have trusted my gut and should have never touched this book, because than it couldn't have ruined this picture I have of RVD's books, like that she can't do wrong. Sadly, she proves with Cheater that she can, at least for me :/

This turned out longer than I intended. So to keep thing short: not my piece of cake.

Rating: 2.5 stars

It's not what you think. There are two sides to every story. You need to read this book to know the full story. I really liked this story even though the ending seemed a bit short to me. I prefer an epilogue, but there is a second book coming and I assume these characters will have supporting actions in that book. Take the time to read and enjoy. You won't be disappointed

Okay, but romance novels aren't really my thing. Disappointed.

I really went back and forth on whether or not I wanted to read this book. I LOVE Rachel Van Dyken(who doesn't?) but the whole premise felt... icky. Once you get into the meat of the book, though, everything starts to make more sense. Misunderstandings and fun antics fill this book to the brim and keep you reading to see how they could possibly work things out! Do they? Well that's for me to know and you to read about. If you're feeling unsure about the book because of the whole "Cheating" premise let me be the first to tell you I was too. DEFINITELY not my cup of Kool-Aid but the book is so much better than the blurb makes it out to me. Romance readers will definitely love this book, I sure did!

Lucas Thorn is a womanizer. Seven days, seven girls but if all of them know about each other it’s not cheating, right? Right? 😀

Everyone who hesitates to pick up this book because of the subject matter and the title, don’t! This isn’t what you think it is. I laughed so much and it can’t and shouldn’t be taken seriously. (After all it’s a Rom-Com not a relationship advice book. :)) Rachel Van Dyken’s outstanding sense of humor never disappoints and I loved the whole story so much! The crazy main characters and their even crazier families. 🙂

At high school Lucas Thorn was the golden boy. The smart, kind and popular guy, the star quarterback with a beautiful prom queen girlfriend with whom he was only one step away from the “happily ever after.” But the one time when Lucas Thorn wasn’t perfect, he made a huge mistake and it left a stain on his and his family’s name forever…

Avery Black knows Lucas Thorn too well, because she is the youngest sister of Lucas’s ex-fiancée, Kayla. Back then Lucas was her best friend and her hero, but after the “fallout” like everyone else, she also felt really disappointed in him. After the incident, the name of Lucas Thorne became a swear word in the Black house, so when it turns out that Avery’s new boss is no other but Lucas Thorne, her first workday at her new workplace become quite stormy.

When one morning Lucas’s sister accidentally finds them together at Lucas’s apartment, the “express rumor-train” departs, and after that – for their families’ sake – they become entangled in a very complicated net of lies, and the control starts to slip out of their hands with wind speed. 🙂

There were several funny and comical scenes in the book, and I laughed so much during my read. 🙂 It’s perfect for a relaxing weekend. 🙂

Damn, Rachel did it again. I totally fell for Lucas Thorne. He is the guy you want to hate but totally fall for in the end. This was a funny, crazy story. Thorne has a woman for each day of the week. They know up front about the arrangement so he thinks it's not cheating. but when Avery walks back into his life, things start to change.

So I liked this one, the witty banter, the enemies to lovers plot. It was all pretty well done. I was laughing most of the time during this book. The two characters were likeable, it was easy to root for them.

The plot was well done. It was a quick read that was well written, sweet and light-hearted with a happy ending. Perfect for a break from reality and heavy books.

I wasn't a huge fan of this one. I thought it was a pretty clique novel and I thought that it was pretty bland.

This book was one heck of a read!!! I was on quite the emotional rollercoaster and I didn't want it to stop! I know that some may say that they aren't into books about cheating (not a spoiler, the title is called Cheater

I’m not one to read a romance novel at all, but this one sounded quite interesting, so when I received the ARC for an honest review, I figured I’d give it a shot, and I wasn’t disappointed. From the beginning, you knew it was going to get a little crazy since it was from the cheater’s POV, so the description gets quite deep in the romantic parts, which made me feel a little awkward at times, but it was so well written, I couldn’t stop. Does that make me a horrible person? Haha

My favorite part about this book was the humor and sass; it was full of it! I honestly cannot tell you the last time I actually “laughed out loud” while reading a book, but I just ate up this humor, and maybe that’s because my mind has always been dirty…who knows.

Because I thoroughly was enjoying it, I finished the book in roughly six hours; I couldn’t put it down! Thankfully the ‘romantic bits’ weren’t going on for the whole story, probably only about a fifth of it. The rest though? You can bet it was full of sass, banter, and humor.

Did not enjoy this as much as i thought i would. Still grateful to the publishers for letting me read it early.

This review will be brutally honest. Our motto is to always be 100% forthcoming about our thoughts on a certain novel, so you want mine? Here you go. Now don’t yell at me, even if you don’t agree. You know who I love? Rachel Van Dyken. I haven’t read her mafia series but the books of hers that I have read are all fun and easy going (except Ruin – I forgot about that one), guaranteed to have you crying from laughter and to keep a huge smile on your face. It’s safe to say that when going into Cheater, I expected the same. Even from her first chapter (or in this case a prologue), RVD certainly has one hell of a hook!

Avery is such a little spitfire at the beginning, I really liked her, even early on. In no time she was airing out her thoughts and had no qualms about calling Lucas out on his crap. I love when a heroine can do this.

I did like the deeper side that we saw of Avery. There were a few moments or glimpses when she felt unworthy, or like she wasn’t good enough. I really felt for her during these times because really, who can’t relate to that? And when it was explained why she felt this way, my heart cracked a little for her.

The humour was quite classic RVD style, but after reading both the Consequence Series and the Matchmaker’s Series, it didn’t exactly stand up to those. I loved Avery’s sense of humour, and Lucas’s more so in the beginning, but the rest (a few scenes in particular) that were suppose to be funny (I’m assuming) just felt so fake and flat to me, I almost couldn’t believe it. Lucas’s parents for instance? I didn’t laugh, I was honestly kind of mad.

My biggest overall issue was simply the fact that I didn’t believe the relationship between the main characters. I didn’t believe it as an enemies to lovers situation, a friends to lovers situation, or even forbidden. None of these tropes added up. I didn’t understand or feel chemistry or a pull between them, I didn’t find their conversations flirty. I just honestly didn’t get that feeling from them which was kind of a disappointment.

I don’t know about all the other girls… I mean, I get it, he’s a cheater, you learn early on about all of his girlfriends, but when he was developing feelings for Avery again, he just carried on seeing them and talking to them. In front of her. Having her manage his “other” calendar, including his dates. I think this was a big reason as to why I didn’t buy Lucas’s feelings for Avery. I understand not wanting to hurt her, but even that idea was mentioned offhand and then never again. He just didn’t have a good reason for any decision and it was aggravating.

I appreciated that Avery stood up for herself and refused to be one of Lucas’s ‘Days of the Week’, but then she caved so quickly. She went from strong willed and honest to falling into bed with him in a matter of days. Where did her self respect go? She definitely had some at one point.

I wasn’t the girl I used to be—the one he would be willing to give up his serial screwing for. I was like every other girl, like the ones he spent time with during the week—completely and utterly replaceable.
And that hurt.
More than it should have.
Because I’d always come up short when it came to Lucas.
Sort of along this point, the timeline doesn’t match up in certain areas of the book (between how much time you’re led to believe has passed, mentions of the weekend, a party or dinner or girl on a certain day, etc.). Details like this are so easy to pick up on, I feel like it should’ve been caught.

“Still possessive, hey, Avery Bug?”
She glanced back at me. “In every way that matters, yes. When a man loves me, he’s going to get all of me, not twenty-four hours.”
Lucky bastard.
Lucky freaking bastard.
I really didn’t find this to be believable as a forbidden, enemies to lovers or friends to lovers, which is kind of weird because it should be all three. I didn’t get enough hostility for it to be enemies to lovers, didn’t get enough flashbacks or memories to believe the friends to lovers, and where it should’ve been forbidden, it wasn’t because the parents were all crazy and weird.

“Please tell me my assumptions are wrong.” I cleared my throat.
“Maybe they are?”
“Tell me you don’t have a woman for every day of the week. Tell me you don’t sleep with them and change them around like you would your socks. Tell me that she didn’t just assume I was . . . FRIDAY!” Her voice rose an octave, grabbing the attention of those at the table next to us.
“You’re wrong.” I grinned.
She let out a rough exhale.
“I sleep with a different girl every day of the week—except Sunday. That’s God’s day.
Just a small side note, but Brooke and Kayla — Avery’s sisters — pardon my French but they are fucked. Like seriously messed in the head. From how they acted as adults to how they acted during flashbacks when Avery was a teenager, I definitely wouldn’t have liked these girls.

Even if a book is lighter and for all intents and purposes – fluff – I still expect it to have some semblance of a solid storyline, but after finishing Cheater, I honestly can’t tell you what that would’ve been. There just seemed to be so much conversation about nothing at all, and focus on the others girls, that the plot felt weak, predictable and underdeveloped.

So all in all, yes, RVD is one of my favourite authors and no, this was not my favourite book of hers by a long shot. And you know what? That’s okay. I still love the crap out of her writing. Not every book will work for every reader and that’s totally normal. In this case, Cheater didn’t really work for me, but it seems to be going over much better for everyone else, so you probably don’t have to listen to my ramblings. 😉

I don't normally read books when I know there will be cheating but I'm glad I made an exception with this one. In my opinion Lucas never really cheats. I loved Avery. I thought it might be a little weird with Lucas and Avery getting together since he was once engaged to her older sister but so much time passed in between and they had grown apart before the break up. I am very happy with the way it turned out.

Let me tell you what happened when I was reading this book.
First, I knew I was going to a boring place to do something I really hate: stand in line to talk to my account´s manager. It ALWAYS take forever for me to get called! So, while I was sitting there, doing nothing and mentally cursing the guy, I grabbed the book and started reading.

I have no idea how long it took to get called because I lost track of time and when I had to put the book down I mentally cursed the guy a little bit more (please don´t tell him).

I´ve heard some people complaining about the main subject of the book, but I usually don´t read reviews before books when it comes to my favorite authors and Rachel is one of them. Also, I have to confess that I LOVE books with cheating, love triangles, forbidden subjects, and lots of angst

. So, when I first read the title I thought ´´Hell, yeah! That´s my kind of book.`` , but I had no idea of how awesome the book really was.

Cheater is not you every-day-love-story kind of book. Lucas and Avery are amazing characters. You´re gonna laugh, cry, swoon and be surprised.

As usual, Rachel never disappoints with her books. You should give a chance to this Cheater ;)

Usually I avoid cheater plots like the plague. I can never seem to expand my mind that there is ever a good enough excuse for that person’s actions. That being said, I was a little nervous reading this book.
Avery and Lucas have a history. Their families were best friends and Lucas was engaged to Avery’s older sister. As Avery grows older, Lucas is more and more drawn to her causing a big snafu the night before the wedding and labels Lucas a cheater. Instead of trying to defend himself, the families’ friendship is broken and life moves on. Lucas embraces his “cheater” label and becomes an emotionally unavailable serial dater.
When Avery gets an internship at Lucas’s company years later, she’s all grown up and still reeling from Lucas’ betrayal. They both still have feelings for each other that are complicated by their past but also by Lucas’ new lifestyle of a girl for every day of the week.
I enjoyed Avery and Lucas’ banter and their chemistry was off the charts. But some of Lucas’ actions with these “daily girls” were a little tough for me sometimes. Overall I did enjoy the book much more than I have with novels with the same plot.
